Yes, glad they announced these.
I need lte and the best network in America and not a thick ass LG phone. Too bad, really, months ago I was eagerly anticipating seeing the next nexus while using a gnex. Loving my recently and freely acquired galaxy s3 but I could see a note 2 in my future.

I'm starting to really lust after the Nexus 10. I wonder how different it is compared to the Note 10.1. I like the dual-front-facing speakers, but the S-Pen could be cool to have.
ive been burned by the last 2 nexus devices and i won't be fooled again, not even for key lime pie. i also wouldn't even think of owning a lg device. the gs3 will get android 4.2 in some form or another.

officially i don't think we will ever get it. but i suspect the cm team will be working on it by years end.
I'm watching the video now, Google is doing a great job.
Google won't release source until the Nexus 4 is released. Then i bet the Galaxy Nexus will be the first to get a custom build going. THEN we might see some AOSP ports for the S3. Who knows when but i wouldn't hold my breath. My guess is Spring time 2013. Glad i still have my GN, might have to trade back with the gf lol.
We don't even have 4.1 yet, and there is no hope of a stable build till an official VZW release. All the AOSP JB roms you see have issues.
We can expect 4.2 on this phone by the time KeyLimePie is announced, if we're lucky.
off topic but i really want htc & moto to make a nexus. i was hoping the rumor of multi-oem's making them would come true.

Sadly they won't. But even then with no sd card slot and only a max of 16 gigs which translates to what about 11 or 12 gigs? I'd still pass. Thank for rooting and AOSP on this SIII
In November we will have 4.2. That's because T-Mobile gets first dibs on the nexus 4. And those files will eventually end up in devs hands a day after the release. Have no worry guys we will see sweet key lime pie!

Guess it comes down to how much hassle I want. If I used the cloud I'd have to only keep 1 or 2 movies for offline viewing, and recycle as necessary to manage 16gb. Gonna have to think about this one. $100 of storage versus $100 of accessories and play store purchases.

I'm trying to decide between the two. I know I'm going to get some biased opinions towards the Xoom, but that's fine.
I'm leaning towards the Xoom because it has removable SD and a USB port while the Galaxy does not. However, the Galaxy is lighter and is supposed to have better battery life.

Out of the box the xoom does not have a functional removable sd card. If I were on the market now, I would probably go with the Galaxy 10.1
for me i will still choose xoom. samsung sucks on updates, n xoom's sdcard will be available soon. I sometimes take hd videos with xoom too
anyway, if u wan a super beautiful display, go for galaxy

Depends on the age of their stock I guess. No, 3.1 doesn't enable MicroSD, in fact, unless you're on a Verizon one, it doesn't do much of anything really.

Battery life is not even a factor for me, i've had this since launch and have been unable to drain my battery with heavy use. Lowest i've gotten was 15% and that was 8.5 hours of SCREEN ON time. (normal days i dont even go below 80)
The galaxy tab is seeming to be more of a Google favorite, and Motor has shifted their attention away from the Xoom in order to refine the tablet experience with a new product. I'm keeping my Xoom WiFi only until I get my Tab 10.1 in the mail (which will hopefully be June 10th or so)

Considering reports that the galaxy tabs glass is coming off the face of the tablet, and my wife owns a samsung captive with a similar issue... I'd trust their build quality about as far as I can throw a sumo wrestler.
1- Xoom has solid build quality, whereas Samsung's is sensitive. (Xoom)
2- physical SD card available for Xoom, you can get it to work with kernals. (Xoom)
3- Faster updates (Xoom)
4- Screen quality (Galaxy)
5- Weight (Galaxy)
6- External design and looks (it's judgmental, but Galaxy).
Personally, I went with the Xoom, since SD and USB port are my deal breakers with the lolIpad II.
also you can check this:
http://socialcompare.com/en/comparison/tablets-samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-vs-motorola-xoom
I think both sucks on Updates! Only US Xoom got an update to 3.1, if you are european you need to wait. Go to the next electronic store an check both out, its the best to see the screens and the reflection of the screens. Xoom had a pretty hard reflection, its more a mirror than a screen, in my opinion!
I had the same question like you, which one should i take. I take the xoom, SD and USB, and the important thing its available in my country and i dont need to wait. The galaxy its thin and had a lower weight.
I ended up ordering the Xoom and it's on it's way!

I am super tempted, I hate waiting for the Galaxy Nexus. If I got it I would just return it for the GN anyways so.
But, when you add a line the price goes back up to $200 on contract. Still great, but not $111.
Cool phone, holding out for the Nexus though. Can't beat ICS + HD screen + first to update + no carrier/manufacturer crap.
am waiting for the nexus too

Unfortunately, the 111.11 price is only for NEW lines. Upgrades/etc are $249.
I really do like the razr but I may as well hold out for the nexus. I have yet to own an android phone that has received any sort of update. I started with the HTC Aria, moved to the D2G, and now the charge. I really like the fact of no bloat out of the box too and we all know the roms we are dying to get on our phones will be available almost from day one. Part of me is also wanting to try, dare I say it, WP7.

That's not even the price for new lines -- it's just for new accounts.
Upgrades and new lines on existing accounts are both 249.99 (which is still $50 less than buying it straight from Verizon, though).

They spent 900 bucks plus airfare to get to IO I don't think anyone will touch Jelly Bean until source is released in mid July. SDK ports are buggy as all get out and nothing more than proof of concept. We still won't have a fully functional ROM until LG releases ICS source. On the bright side, drivers should be able to be ported from ICS to JB, until GB to ICS.
i see Paul at modaco.com already has JB rom w/kitchen for the galaxy nexus the G2x versions will be uber gimped due to lg's inability to release the source to the dev community. reason why i sold my g2x for a gnex and haven't looked back.

I mean, people will argue the galaxy s2 is a better phone than Nexus...and now the s3 just came out! For one (only one?) of the only devices to come pre-packaged with ICS, it seems to lack certain functionality and features that carrier specific phones have.

Uh, you have to be more specific. What do you want to do with the tablet? Are you an Apple person, or an Android person? 7'? 8.9"? 10"?
you can try the galaxy note tablet

I would YouTube galaxy2 tab vs galaxy note and use spec difference. My personal opinion the note would be my choice because galaxy tab can be hassle with fc even in basic stock. But you gotta find the difference there

I have a tab 2 10.1. It hasn't had any fc or problems. It also doesn't have very much dev support. It runs well for me, it's rooted, and I use it for watching movies and surfing the web.
Look into the note tablet and the nexus 7. Those are better tablets as far as specs go. They probably also have more dev support. Up to you though, the tab 2 works just fine for me.

I've had a nexus 7 for a few months now. I love it. The constant android os updates are a huge plus for me. There's pretty good dev support, too. For the price, I'm shocked at how much I like it.
There are a few bugs with the screen. Some users report a horizontal line of burnt pixels developing, and other users report blurry edges. My nexus 7 developed the horizontal line last week. I made a three minute phone call and a new nexus 7 arrived two days later. Not bad at all. I've read the screen issues have been fixed as of now.
Oh, it's also easy as heck to root and maintain. Rooting took me less than 10 minutes from start to finish.
Edit:
It depends if u really want a similar experience as the skyrocket. I imagine the Samsung tablets may be a good pick. I found the uber clean stock Android 4.2 system on the N7 was simple enough for me to bounce and forth between the skyrocket and not go bald or blind from stress.
