Chrono Trigger - Asus Transformer TF700

So I just picked up Chrono Trigger from the play store but the app doesnt seem to scale properly on the Prime Infinity. The game only takes up one of the lower quarters of the screen and I can't even see the buttons to accept the additional file downloads. Has anyone found a solution to this?

I plan to. I just though someone here may have found a work-around.

So it looks like they retroactively made devices not compatible which is rather ****ty since I had already purchased it. Would have been nice if they had offered a chance to get a refund when the change was made.

Dead Space on Amazon Marketplace - For the Kindle

If you haven't seen this game, you probably should.
The (best?) game I have seen so far for an Android device and this one has been (modified?) for the Kindle Fire.
Kotaku had a video of the game playing here
kotaku (dot) com/5861972/the-kindle-fire-just-might-be-a-kick+ass-gaming-machine
They incorrectly state that its a ipad version running (that version has been out for a while), the actual game is on the Amazon marketplace for $6.99
Funny - in Amazon's App store, when you bring up the page for "Dead Space (Kindle Fire Edition)", it says it's not compatible with my Kindle Fire.
Strange, I was able to purchase, install and play it without any issues last night.

Very nice. Just installed it.
Thanks!
I went out and came back in and now it says it's compatible. I'm gonna try it.
Thanks!
What is everyone's take on the game? It looked good, but I'm skeptical. I also have played both games on 360 already.
Sad stuff, being from EU I can't access the Amazon AppStore and can't purchase it.
Couldn't find it anywhere on the Internet either.
SWETT!
Going to def download this!
They pulled the app, probably due to compatibility issues:

I think, you only need to give an address in the US to be able to access the amazon appstore.
Issues
I've had many issues with this game since I purchased it, just won't open, takes many many times trying to open it to finally get it to play, and sometimes it will open, but get to the EA screen and Force Close. Once it finally opens all the way thou, it plays perfectly, never force closes or waffles. If it's been pulled, it was prolly pulled for these issues, many reviewers of the game in the Amazon App Store where having the same problems.
Although when it does play, it's very good. The gameplay is is perfect for a tablet, I was surprised at how well it really played, and the graphics look amazing.
I can't find that game in the Market or Amazon App Store
super fun, pref shadowgun more though.
Even though its a paid app if someone would upload it that would be great. Ill buy it when it comes back to the store I'm just excited.

Your willingness to pay for it in the future, no matter how honorable, is not reason enough for anyone to upload this file. If you find it via other sources, good for you, but please don't ask people to do that on this forum.

Avadon no worky on Note with ICS... Any ideas?

I've been working with Spiderweb games on trying to get their RPG "Avadon: Black fortress" working on my Note, and despite others being able to buy it on the market I'm unable to.
I finally figured out it seems to be ICS related. GB Notes can buy it but ICS Notes cant.
According to the correspondence below they seem to think its "screen size" related.
does anyone know a hack that can let me buy this game? (I have root...)
Here is the last (somewhat disappointing correspondence I had with Spiderweb games support)
Hi again,
It's great that you figured out what the issue was. However, Avadon runs fine on ICS tablets, so the problem is not ICS compatibility. The only restriction we've placed on the Avadon Google Play listing is reported screen size - only devices that report screen sizes of "large" or "xlarge" to Google Play can access the listing and download the app. My only thought as far as possibilities go is that somehow the ICS upgrade changed the reported screen size of the Note from "large" to "normal" or even "small" (there are four sizes: small, normal, large, and xlarge). This is sort of unlikely, since the Note should not be classified as a "normal" or "small"-sized screen as far as Android devices go, but there's really nothing else I can think of which would cause this to happen. We won't be allowing "normal" or "small"-sized screens to access the Avadon listing because most of the devices allowed would not be able to play the game. So, I really am terribly sorry about this, but we can't do much to fix this issue on our end.
We regret the inconvenience.

Wow, I would have put money on someone knowing some sneaky hack to make it work... :-(
Is really a weird one seeing as it is support under GB, supported under ICS, supported under a GB note but just that specific combo of ICS on the note it isn't supported...?

Why not just backup your ICS rom, flash to GB, buy/install the app, back up the app with Titanium Backup, and then flash back to your ICS backup and restore the app with TB.
I wasn't able to install it on GB either. And I read it's Android 3.0+ and 7"+. So maybe a dpi change does the trick.

I bought it as part of the humble bundle awhile back. It is version 1.0.6 and it installs fine on both GB and ICS. It downloads from the humble bundle app not google play.

I think he means to download an app that changes the dpi. Maybe it will trick the app store into letting the game show up.
Ha cool, we figured out what it was... Samsung have buggered up the way it reports screen size to google Play in ICS:
Hello again,
We confirmed from our analytics software that the ICS Galaxy Note is now reporting its screen size as "normal" instead of "large." We inquired about this to the Android team at Google and they think it's a mistake on Samsung's part when they prepared the ICS update for the Note. What we want to do is use a setting that actually allows us to specify which devices can access Avadon: The Black Fortress by minimum screen resolution instead of by these size labels which are sort of fuzzy. This setting exists in Android, but is not supported yet by Google Play. However, there is a chance that it will be supported by Google Play in the future, and at that point we'll be able to reconfigure the APK settings to filter devices based on screen resolution instead of this size value.
I wouldn't recommend trying to hack around this. Since you are obviously a very devoted fan and since you've really helped us out in figuring out what's happening with the Note, we'd like to give you a free copy of Avadon. This copy won't update with Google Play, but if you don't run into any issues on the Note, then you won't need to worry about updates.
Hopefully the ICS Note will be able to purchase Avadon in the not-too-far future! Thanks very much for your help and feedback.

Skyrocket Appreciation

This phone is awesome. I have yet to see any posts showing interest in their phone, beyond changing ROMs like its a disease.
I recently found out I can use 'Six-Axis controller' to connect a ps3 controller to my phone and effectively have a portable n64 console with me. All I need to do now is find a Conker's Bad Fur Day or Banjo-Kazooie ROM.
I recently found out about LCD density changing and messed around with it a lot. 180 makes our Skyrocket look sexy. (But now I'm experiencing market compatibility issues so I need to look more into it).
I like organization, so SD-Maid was a nice find and I'm going to learn Titanium Backup to increase my battery life. Just need to find a freeze list.
I found the site My ColorScreen so theming will be a task soon undertaken, as soon as the necessities are figured out.
So come on, share some cool things about your phone. Whether it's a cool Llama task you made, new homescreen setup, an app you think people should know about, a ROM you like (AOKP + CM9, thank you guys), or an important tip you should know (I didn't know Titanium Backup could restore my folder settings in Nova Launcher, that would have saved time).
Be a little positive guys.
Why is it that an incorrect, naive post about an OTA update for Skyrocket can get two pages instantly full of people *****ing about how useless the thread is (then don't reply to it smartass).
While a thread with the capacity to help people find some cool things about their phone gets nothing.
I hear the app "LCD Density Modder Pro" can fix the market compatibility issues. It's a paid app though.
Any more info on the six-axis controller and how to use the phone as a "portable n64"? That sounds interesting!
Edit: Ah, a little bit of googling answered my question about that six-axis controller.. didn't realize it was an app. Makes sense now. Which N64 emulator do you use?
I don't root my phone but I love it to death! I also agree that negative posts get more responses than US news media stories.
That being said I love that flipboard app and I'm going to be buying a new Samsung LED TV. I've heard that we can turn our phones into remote controls for the actual TV, if not yet its on the horizon.
I also use mine for web browsing mostly and I'm looking for a cool app like MATLAB based or something that has Physics and Calculus formulas all over. I hope this thread gets going. Mad thanks to the OP. This is the first thanks I've used.

I currently have a Samsung TV, and it's true that we can use our phone as a remote control, as long as your TV has wifi and you connect your phone to the same network. You'll just need the app conveniently named "Samsung Remote" lol. It's free in the market. Works for their blu-ray players too I think.

Mupen64AE, pulled for free from the developers site here. You just run sixaxis and start the emulator, then map the buttons (less than 10 seconds) and you're good to go. Emulators were always a cool idea to me but they didn't translate well for certain games, but honestly with the analog sticks and actual triggers its a perfect experience.

Poor TF700 app support: Nexus 10 era

From the release of the Infinity, there has been low compatibility with apps and especially games. Some have said it is related to lack of developer support for the high res screen. Others have suggested the Nexus 10 will force developers into support for the new generation of where's-those-pixels tablets.
Both Skype and Rock star announced tablet optimised app releases in the coming fortnight (the latter for Vice City). The TF201 is on both compatibility lists but no Infinity. Is this deliberate? Or did hardly any Infinities sell and hence support for it make no business sense? In addition I don't see many EA or Gameloft releases, both old and new, supporting our machine.
Perhaps I'm being impatient and this is just the early adopter first world problem. Or maybe it's another reason to jump ship to the N10.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
Not just the TF700. The Note 10.1 has the same issue. As does pretty much every other HD tablet.
They work fine. I've got nearly every supposedly 'not-compatible' game running, no issues...
The thing is this. Devs made their games in a low res. They're too lazy to re-release the games with a higher resolution. (adding the infinity to the list won't change the ingame res, it'll still be upscaled.)
All they have to do is update the texture packs, but they simply won't. Of course not,
EA has always been too arrogant for customer support. (Don't believe me? The EA Master Server was dead every day in BF2, and they haven't changed anything, not even a cable, 8 years, 7 Triple-A games and 9 expansions later. The Master server still erases profiles&progress nearly once a day, fails twice a week completely and crapped out on the release night of BF3 and stayed down for almost 3 days...)
Gameloft is Ubisoft's mobile section, so that speaks for itself in terms of a completely non-existent customer support.
To be fair, though, Gameloft has a decent amount. EA is just an arse:

Please clarify. There's a hundred ways in which you 'can't download'. Error? Doesn't start? What?
I side loaded most of my gameloft games that's not available on the market and they work fine. Some games however will have smaller menu screens or smaller on screen buttons. An example is wild blood. Come to think of it's that the only one I recall right now. EA games however, you get a server error when games open. With the exception of NFS Most Wanted. It can open but plays slow. Like playing in slow motion. Theres a mod to make it faster though. Glu games are all available. Most other apps are too.
On nexus 10 almost all the games for gameloft, EA are available from the market and all work without issues. Once exception is wild blood is not available but can be side loaded but buttons are even smaller and menus are blank. So really not playable. Most other apps are available too.
It maybe a matter of not being able to test their apps so they dont make it in the compatibility list? But it does suck that tf700 out of the box is not supported by most. Seems like its the misfit of all the devices due to its unique screen resolution.

Been out of it all for a while now, though. Too little free time, and the games are too bloody expensive (And there's no fun in it anymore, all those kids and aim assist.. (we used to call it aimbots, and they got you permbanned..... now it's part of the game )
Aaaand we're off topic again xD Oops...
With the increase of 1080p phones in the next year being announced, I would expect that app developers would start to catch up with high resolutions. It's always been a matter of time.

That's a resolution-not-found error.
Basically, it means the installer can't find the files related to the device's resolution. (Evidently, as they don't exist.) You can call them until hell freezes over, it's not going to be resolved.
There's only one way around that, and that is to download and install the SDdata manually. There's plenty of sites that offer them. I don't think it counts as illegal to manually download the data if you already paid for the .apk in the playstore.

Edit: Oh F Me, I must've not downloaded the extra files, now I get the server error 5002 crap. I am just about done with this, either google steps up, takes a hit to make customers happy and apply some rules to the market, or people are going to start to leave the android tablet market and seek refuge with apple, at least we know they have rules for supporting their devices. I know, I know- itunes, evil apple and closed system, but I am willing to live with that but I would be able to download and play every game on their market without worries that my device would be incompatible for years to come.
GOOGLE GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER AND FIX THIS, IT'S BEEN AND IS GETTING WORSE, NOT BETTER!
I wouldnt necessarily blame google though. They have set of guidelines that if followed, apps should upscale correctly to fit larger resolution screen. Devs are just lazy and unfortunately some of them don't support tf700.

I do blame google, they allow the apps on the market without trying to hold the devs accountable to following the rules. why have guidelines if they aren't going to be enforced in any fashion. Sure, our devices were the first to hit the 1080p resolution in the Android market, but **** none of the big players are interested in supporting it. Even if they say they support it they really don't. As an example, you can buy need for speed for the infinity, it says it's compatible in the market, you can download the base files, but your f'd trying to download the additional files needed to play. ow whos fault is that? Google for allowing it to happen or EA for even allowing the base file to be downloaded? In this case, it's both parties, but when it comes to overall compatibility it's on googles shoulders for not enforcing some sort penalty.
It really doesn't matter what I think, they got my money and I'll make sure I don't fall in the shame on me catagory.
Oh and the Zen pinball not compatible issue, they turned it back on for the tf700 after I had a nice conversation with them about it not working. I will cut and paste my emails and their responses. BTW it all happened in a 30-45 minute window.
This is how devs should respond to issues with their apps.
This is me emailing them about the problem with Zen Pinball after the latest update.
"Hi,
I am a little more than frustrated with your company right now. I had this game running perfectly fine before the latest update, which broke portrait mode, so I figured I would un-install it then re-install it to see if that would fix the issue. Low and behold my device is NOW INCOMPATIBLE, which is a crock of you know what, it worked great before this last update. My device is a tegra 3 device, this game is marketed as a tegra 3 game with enhanced visuals, my daughters FUHU NABI 2 is compatible, a friggin kids tablet is compatible but my $600 Infinity isn't? Pleae send me the old apk so I can play one of my favorite games again.
Thank You".
Their response,
"Hi Cris,
Thank you for your email. We are aware of the issue with portrait mode, and will be issuing a fix shortly.
I am not sure why your device is now listed as incompatible, but I will look into this right away.
These updates are tricky, there always seems to be issues that we could not test for, or weird settings that we need to look at in the Google Store."
My response back,
"I appreciate your timely response to this problem, I contacted google play and they looked on the blacklist and the infinity is listed on that, just an FYI. Once this issue is resolved can you please email me and let me know because it really was my favorite game on the market.
Thank You."
And their response,
"We are turning the device back on momentarily. Portrait mode will not work yet, but should work soon as well. Apologies for the inconvenience."
Talk about easy, I mean they gave personal responses, not canned, looked into the problem and made available again in less then an hour. This is great customer service and in turn make me want to buy more of their games.
Edit:
More information from Zen Studios
Hi Cris,
The device was turned on about an hour ago, but could take up to an hour longer to reinstate. Please let me know if things continue to not work for you a few hours from now.

Before contacting customer support (which I don't recommend, seeing as your using a custom ROM), I'd try a stock Sense ROM with the game, and see if that improves anything. HTC knows their GPUs better than anyone, and there is a pretty good possibility the game will work with proprietary drivers.
The best comparison I can draw is this: Battery life on my Dell XPS 15 inch triples on my Linux partition when I use proprietary drivers compared to the open source ones, because the open source drivers weren't optimizing the GPU clock speed and screen brightness well.
Try the company's software that made the phone first before anything else.
Pretty sure I remember something along the lines of Square Enix making their games unplayable on rooted phones. This might be one.

For the benefit of anyone else who finds this on Google:
SEE Agent Pierre: Hello and thank you for contacting SQUARE ENIX Customer Support. Just a few moments while I review your question, please.
You: Okay.
You: Are you still there?
SEE Agent Pierre: just a moment please
You: Okay, no problem.
SEE Agent Pierre: (sorry about that, will be 2 minutes if you're ok to hold)
You: Yeah, that's fine.
SEE Agent Pierre: thank you for waiting Sir
SEE Agent Pierre: so I understand you are having issues with FF Dimensions on yur Galaxy Note, is that right?
You: Galaxy Note II, yes.
You: It crashes on launch. I wondered if this might be related to being rooted or setting a different DPI, but I didn't get time to test these things because of Google Play's 15 minute refund window. If it is one of those things, and there's something I can do about it, I can purchase it again.
SEE Agent Pierre: so you have been refunded the game by now and do not have it installed anymore ?
You: Correct. I'm seeing if I can find out what the issue was before I consider re-purchasing.
SEE Agent Pierre: alright no worries
SEE Agent Pierre: the fact that it is rooted is one of the cause
SEE Agent Pierre: If you bear with me I will look for any compatibility issue with the game and the G.Note 2
You: Okay, thanks. As much as I'd love to play the game, I'm not willing to un-root to do so. If there's a workaround that allows play on rooted devices, that'd be grand.
SEE Agent Pierre: alright, no compatibility issue was found with your device however it must not be rooted to support the game.
SEE Agent Pierre: you will need to un-root it but apparently you are not ready to do so
SEE Agent Pierre: is there anything else I can do for you today?
You: Is this the case for all Square Enix games? I was looking at Chrono-Trigger as well. I'm quite keen to give you my money, but not at the expense of being able to use a device I bought how I wish to use it.
SEE Agent Pierre: yes that's quite standard, you will find that in all our games
SEE Agent Pierre: sorry about that
SEE Agent Pierre: anything else I can help with?>
You: Thanks. Might be worth informing the person who made that decision that piracy is just as easy with or without root access and you're reducing your market somewhat.
You: I'll see if I can pirate the game and I'll purchase it from the Play Store again (though not actually download it) if I get the pirated version to work on my device. Seems to be my only option to actually play your games in a fair manner that means Square Enix gets paid.
You: Which is an odd situation but here we are.
SEE Agent Pierre: Thank you for visiting our SQUARE ENIX Support Chat line. Take care and have a good day!
You: Thanks for your help, all the best.
SEE Agent Pierre: you too, bye
Dimensions works fine for me on both jellybam, rebelrom, and cleanrom... I can't get it to work on CM and xylon

I was able to get the game to start by restoring app data via TiBackup from a device that was able to run the game, after saving the game once. In my case it was an Asus TF300 to my Samsung Galaxy Note 2

OP updating. The game appears to run just fine on viperXL. On my nexus 7 it works fine on stock. Next time I change roms I'll follow the above post and use tibu

Restore app+data using TiBackup from a device that works after you save at least once. Restoring before you save the first time will not fix a game that crashes on launch.

Just have a problem.... I have no unrooted device to make this titanium backup...
Right, so the APK itself is what checks for root access. I replaced the APK from the Play Store with an APK I got from somewhere else, and it works. Just installed it over the top. The game also checks for a legit Play Store license, which I have because I bought it. So no problems there.
Over-zealous anti-piracy methods push legit customers to piracy to get around them. Ridiculous. I don't advocate piracy, but if I've paid for something then all bets are off as to how I choose to make it work.
I'm also sticking to the XDA rules by not advising how you would go about duplicating my method. I'm hoping that mentioning the fact I got the APK from elsewhere is within the rules.
All the best.

I might be off here, since I'm still at the start-up crash stage, but it sounds like you have a version mismatch with the asset data. Make sure the APK is the same version as the hidden data.
SQ game me two official answers (none was the root issue)
1) Hide the shade bar.
2) Clear data, cache, and re-install.
Obviously neither worked. (Defy XT557D; stock V1.0.1 rooted crash, stock V1.0.2 rooted crash, hacked V1.0.2 over official license (with stock play store) crash.)

That worked. I had Black Infinitum installed and as soon as I went back to the stock them, Dimensions booted up. But then I installed Black Exodus, and FF Dimensions booted up as well lol. Thanks
