Haipad 7 Special Edition (Rebranded Quantas) - Android General

Hi,
I was asked to look at that it would take to install a stock Android Gingerbread or Honeycomb OS on a 7" Android tablet that was a gift from someone in China. The device carries a Haipad brand and the model is "PAD001." My understanding is that this device was manufactured by Quantas. It has a fingerprint of "Haier/haier_haierpad/haier_haierpad:2.3.4/GINGERBREAD/1.00.07:user/release-keys" and it has a ARMEABI-v7a CPU and 16 GB RAM. The link below shows the exact unit that I have in my possession.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/09/quantas-7-inch-android-tablet-dummy-spotted-at-ces/
The unit is unrooted and none of the normal exploits, such as SuperOneClick work. Also, Odin doesn't see the device. I can boot into recovery (Power+Vol. Down), but I cannot seem to put the unit into download mode. If I press (Power+Vol. Up), I get a Green Triangle with the Andrpid character and three gears over his shoulder. I googled this and was not able to find anything. I can succesfully ADB, but I cannot push anything to the device.
I installed ROMManager and it seems to think that this unit is a Galaxy Tab.
If anyone has any thoughts about this unit, I would be appreciative.

Anyone?

MEIYING M10 8-inch Tablet w Android 4.0.4 (ROOT Question)

Greetings,
I lived on the edge and just bought a MEIYING M10 8-inch tablet; got it just root and play; I'm no beginner with computers by any means; what got me on the idea was rooting my wife's Nook Color. More importantly what really got me on the ROOT rant here was I can't use Netflix on this thing -- everything else works fine. So since this sucker is new from China, I'm wondering if there are any ROMs out there i can try that will work with this device; I'm not talking about THEMES...i'm talking about legitimate root packages that could be compatible with this tird. Any ideas would be great...bfn...Jim

Sum vision cyclone voyager 10.1

Enjoying the device even with its heat issues. Came already rooted which saves me the trouble of doing that.
My problem is I wanted to install cwm on it to make a back up before I change anything too much like I do with my Samsung phone .
Device is unsupported . Is there a way to install cwm on this device ? I've searched the net and come up empty so far. I guess my goal is get a cyanogen style mod for is as I liked that on my little Samsung Europa.

I'm new to this site and I'm not sure this is where to post, but I just got a new MID tablet for Christmas and I think I accidentally wiped my /system using ADB. Now whenever I turn my tablet on it just sits at boot logo with little light shimmering around it. I've tried hard reset and everything. Please, if anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it.

I used to have a WM8650 and had to restore it with a method almost identical to this. Download this firmware http://www.agptek.com/download/V775(8850)-Update.rar here and extract it to an SD card that has been formatted. Pop the SD card into tablet and power on. It "should" go ahead and install the firmware. If not we might have to look for another firmware. Hope that helps

It seems there are many clones for this particular tablet so not all the stock firmwares will work

Hp Slate 7

What i know so far
Bootloader can be accessed with Rkflashkit by unplugging and powering off the device, holding volume-up and plugging it back in. Screen will remain black but you should see the device address appear in Rktool telling you it has powered up.
This method will work with Linux, idk if the tool is available for windows
I also found an alternative to the asian rooting method by using Rkflash to flash a rooted system.img(adb remains not fully rooted)
Every attemps i made at modifying the stock boot.img got me stuck in a bootloop.
We can also use Rkflash to flash recoveries but will need to disable the install-recovery.sh script first, otherwise stock recovery just gets flashed back on reboot.
My Cwm build did not work. Device did not seem to boot
I have not tried flashing kernel yet.
Python sent me a PM with a link to cwm builds for devices similar to ours and i tested some. Some of them does not seem to boot, some others get the screen to light up with no graphics. I did not make it halfway through the list yet, i will continue testing hoping to find one that works when i have more free time
He also pointed out we can use FlashGordon to flash recoveries from our device however they need to be in .zip format. I have tried and can confirm this works.
I will also try to upload my rooted system.img file somewhere later this week for those who seeks an alternative to the asian method
Rkflashkit can be found here https://github.com/linuxerwang/rkflashkit
FlashGordon clan be found on playstore

Stock rooted system.img can be found here in the img folder :

Also disabled the install-recovery.sh script
This if for a Hp Slate 7 2800 by the way
any news ???? i have asked on hp forums for the kernel source but no answer :/
well, not on my side i guess. i've been able to flash recoveries using rkflashtool, but i have not found one that works with the slate yet, i found some that boots without powering the screen, some that boots and lights a black screen, some others with a flickering white screen, some just doesn't boot at all. so far im trying to organize them and see what the booting builds have in common, maybe we could use them as a base or something.
Yesterday I realized I can't send or receive files by bluetooth, am I the only one with this problem?

I don't think Hp will release their sources to be honest, I already sent them an email about something similar and the only thing I got after a 3 months wait was a lot of spam from them in the junkbox asking me to buy a laptop, ink cartridges and stuff like that, so i guess we're on our own and should not expect any support from hp.

i will recive mine in 10 days so i cant do notthing yet and i dont know about BT
do you thing if we make a petition for the souce code it will make direrence ???
I don't know, depends on how many signatures we can get I guess. Still, I doubt Hp will do it.

but supposedly they have to because of GPL ... i think i will make a new thread on hp forums every day until they anwser lol
I think Gpl only applies to stock linux kernel, and since Hp modified it a bit they're not forced to publish it. It would speed up aftermarket development so much if they did though. This is my first Hp product and honestly, I regret buying it, not that the tablet isn't good, but the lack of infos and support, that makes me regret not spending 20 more bucks to get a Nexus 7

Your recovery didn't work for me buddy.
To disable /etc/install-recovery.sh i just commented some lines in it.
Cwm source is for some Samsung device I think, it would still need some modifications to get it working on the Slate, I guess, I might be wrong too as i'm still a noob into all this

Hello guys, here's another desperate soul that had bought this piece of hardware and can't let it do what I'm supposed it has to.
Last update (I received it yesterday) brought the tablet to version 1.05.10_user and the bug allowing the root access via cydia's impactor has been fixed. That's enough for me: this device needs to be studied and made free.

how would i flash this to my hp slate 7 ?

Galaxy tab 2 7.0 by-p3113 is suck at firm wear screen and lies does t want to connect

I don't know what happens. All I did was flash slump rom and before it could finish the tab shut off and started a boot loop that would only allow me to download mode. I tried flashing recovery very no several times with Odin but got no wear. Any ideas guys thanks

Nand, internal flash memory chip is dead (read only mode). You will not be able to flash anything more. No matter is it custom recovery, Odin, Heimdall or even professional box. Sorry, but say goodbye to your tab or pay for board replacing in service center. But buying a new tab will be probably cheaper.
