Hey Guys, i am facing a problem with my Fit... the phone power button is not working after the phone has booted.....I can turn on the phone but after that i cannot lock screen or power off my phone....I tried going from Stock to Cyanogenmod ROM but still no use
Any Help??
Most cyanogenmod have the lock button option available in the status bar, which could be used to lock the phone...
For stock roms, you can use "screen off and lock", or "widgetsoid"...
To wake the phone, use the home button...

hey guys, i'm new to android phones, i currently just a htc sensation 4G, i was using a blackberry before this, and i was wondering is there any way that i can lock my phone by pressing the power key and not by going off into blackscreen where it automatically locks it, for blackberry the phone would only lock if i press the lock button, im so use to that, and its pretty annoying to unlock it everytime my phone goes off to black screen itself. please help!! Thanks
My power button decided to die on me last night (had the phone since Feb). Luckily, I can wake the screen using the volume keys thanks to widgetlocker, and I am using a widgetsoid app widget to lock the screen. Still would like my power button back, I can't switch off the phone without battery pull, and to switch back on, i need to plug it into a charger. ANyone experience this? Do I need to open the damn thing and mess around with it to get the button to work again? Looks like a purely physical/mechanical problem here.
so I guess I'm screwed based on all the views without any replies :s

ive been using my phone with a dead power button since august. no problems here(lol). and the same thing with my nexus one the year before. cm has a volume rocker wake option, lockscreen widget turns off the screen, rootbooter boots into recovery, bootloader, and reboots(can power off in recovery or bootloader). but, im not on cm anymore, now im on ics. in ics, if you disable the lockscreen, you can wake with the volume rocker without any extra apps. also, im using the button remapper app to use my search button as the power button to turn off the screen. im using the twrp recovery instead of cwm recovery, because you dont need the power button in twrp recovery. to power on my phone from a cold start, i just give my phone a light smack on the backside, near the power button.
haha, interesting comment about the backside smack! Couldn't get that to work from a cold start. I have to plug it in..
unfortunately, I am using stock ROM, so I will have to make do with the apps available to me now.. widgetlocker manages ok with the volume buttons, but sometimes it fails, and I end up having to call myself from my landline from the office when I don't have my charger with me.
Guess I'll have to wait for ICS to come OTA (god knows when that will be, but can't be too far away now).
same issue here
even my power button died a month ago.. and have never rooted my phone
have been managing with "widget locker" and "screen off and lock" apps.
Did you get the OTA update of ICS for nexus s
Now that I can't manually update my phone, is there any way to force an OTA to the phone ?
Why not have the thing repaired?
All of the sudden today my htc with cm9 stoped turning on with the boot button, the only way of turning it on was taking out then putting in the battery, does anyone else have the same problem? and i know the boot button is working, because it worked in the morning
i think i broke my button somehow, but it was working just fine... and forsome reason my phone knows that the only way to turn on my phone is when i put in the battery... it just turns on byitself i need help :S
sweep to wake all the way, and volwake thing
and is there a way to use the power menu without using the boot button?
new edit: i think i jammed it because, in the bootloader when it askes me to use the power button, it would go by itself, how do you unjam it..? i can still press on it and feel that im pushing it.. but when im on my phone it doesnt randomly turn off so it cant really be jamed...
i dont understand this
So when my phone is locked, the home button turns the screen on. This is fine, I often use it to check the time and such. However, to turn the screen back off I have to hit the power button.
Wondering if there's a way to set the phone so that the home button turns OFF the screen too (when phone is locked)? Possible?
Now, I'm no developer, but I'd have to say not possible. Unless someone can script an app to only work when the phone is in lock mode, but that just seems doubtful.

Same situation as you, found the answer in another forum.
Ive been using this app to turn off the screen by the proximity sensor, so far working great.

you can try a custom rom to get it

It is possible when you giving up actual home button function.
Then you have to enable on-screen navigation bar, instead of hardware physical button.
This thread is over 2 years old guys. Also, if you run AOSP, double tap the status bar to turn the display off. Works on SlimKat, should be like that on CM too.

Hi guys,
For some reason, all of a sudden, my Nexus 5 is not able to be woken up from the lock screen. This happened randomly. I can still boot into recovery and bootloader by holding down the volume and power, and I can still access my phone, though I have to reboot (by holding down the power button) every time I lock my screen. I'm running OptiPop (F2FS) with Uber Kernel. My warranty is void as I've had the phone for a while, and I would really appreciate if you guys knew a solution to this.
Edit: When I lock my phone, the phone vibrates for a brief second.
Thanks

It could be the "Prevent Accidental Wake-up" feature built into the OptiPop rom. If your phone is in a low light environment, the phone thinks its an accidental wake up and does not turn the display on. I've had this happen to me. Try turning the option off under Settings->Display->Prevent Accidental Wake-up
