Can I root my phone if I'm in a chamber that doesn't allow my phone to receive the s-on radio waves

What exactly are these "s-on radio waves?" Can you please elaborate?

It's some kind of security thing by htc that well prevents the bootloader and the system itself sent in radio waves.

Do you mean that if your phone is S-off, it will receive some wireless signal which will make it s-on again?

[Q] Update HBOOT to 1.18

I am on InsertCoin ROM and I would like to know if I can update my HBOOT from 1.17 to 1.18.
Is this possible or there is not 1.18 (revolutionary) hacked ?
Revolutionary actually downgrades your from 1.18 to it's hacked 1.17, so upgrading to 1.18 is useless.
Also, why do you want 1.18 since you won't actually benifit/experience anything from it?

Thanx for the immediate answer. I just like flashing and updating.
So in conclusion there is no way of updating to 1.18 HBOOT (hacked of course).

Yeah, if you want fastboot commands, stay on either revolutionary hboot or Eng hboot.

ENG HBOOT is on version 1.18.1111 I think, isn 't it? Is there an .img file that I can place in SD and can autoupdate when I boot into bootloader? I searched the forum but I did not find that.
Thanx again for your answers.

Again, why flash a newer bootloader if there is NOTHING to gain from it, risking the possibility of hard bricking your phone, and with pointless "fixes" that are only to undo what revolutionary did?
Its jot an update in any way, shape, or form, and increases your possibility of a hard brick for zero gain.

Thread Closed !!
Thanks for the share. I got a few questions though. Is this from the ROM that was leaked two months ago (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1281040)?
The version number are the same but i'm curious on why the radio/hboot come out now instead of two months ago when the ROM as leaked.

It looks like the Radio is not stable with previous firmware (hboot 1.17/hboot 1.18). As my advise don't flash this radio with hboot 1.17/ hboot 1.18, you will face too many stability problems
You should not use it with hboot 1.17

If its just the radio you will experience some reboots. Try the whole firmware, than flash the eng hboot afterwards.

I agree with you, did in same way, and working without any issue!
I think Hboot 1.19 is included in his bootloader zip and it will be updated when flashing that zip via bootloader.
Correct me if i'm wrong.

What's the advantage of doing this? Does it make 2.08 base more stable? If I update to hb1.19 will that bugger things up if i go back to older radio for a sense 3 rom? Let's face it 2.08 is not stable as 2.3.4. After I restore all my apps I get force close on system process and reboots

how do i change the splash1 to my own can you change a file in PG58IMG, as it wont let me change it via adb/fastboot now just says failed?

Well, that's partially true.
As I remember the T&C, it does not void warranty automatically.
The warranty is not valid however if the root of the issue is related to flashing.
Anyway I'm also confused on HTC's regulation regarding this question.
As far as I know there is no alternative for bootloader 1.27...Or is there?

There was a modified Hboot a while back by revolutionary for 1.27 (or was it 1.23, can't remember right now) that required s-off already.
But as for new s-off, there isn't one that doesn't involve the HTC unlocking first.

Well, their disclaimer is written so that if they will want, they can tell you that your issue is not covered due to htc dev unlock... Im sure it depends onwho will pick up your phone in service centre.
I dont want to use it because my sensation started shutting down every then and now and Im concerned that it can come back again. So, at least for now, Im stuck on stock rom :-(

[Q] returning phone to HTC with relocked bootloader

the reason i want to return the phone is the proximity and light sensors stopped working after i received the OTA ICS update. i unlocked the phone and tried a few custom roms but none of them fixed the problem. so i relocked the bootloader and flashed my stock RUU so now its completely back to stock except in the bootloader screen it says "relocked" now instead of "locked". when i send it in will HTC make a big deal out of that? the phone is still s-on and everything.
Yup

I'm sorry, but they will definitely know that you have unlocked the bootloader.
There may be workarounds, but I'm really sorry, I don't know any.
You could try your luck in the Unbrick IRC Channel

There maybe a way to show your Hboot as locked, but how can you tell for sure that HTC doesn't keep a track of the phones that have been unlocked using HTC Dev. You are literally telling them "Hey! I'm about to unlock my bootloader which is going to void my warranty!" I do suppose they keep a track of such things.
Try unlocking again and flash diffent firm and relock it on gb idk nice to see there stalking our phones
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Don't know if this works for the Sensation, but if someone is trying to go back to locked hboot, give it a try.
Go back to totally stock. Flash a RUU, preferably GB so that you have an earlier hboot that can be easily S-OFFed again.
fastboot oem write secureflag 3
Reboot and you should be S-ON again. AGAIN, MAKE SURE YOU ARE TOTALLY STOCK WITH A SHIP HBOOT OR YOU WILL BRICK.
Use revolutionary to S-OFF again. Hopefully, you will be locked at this point.
If not, repeat, but use JuopunutBear to S-OFF.
If you're still unlocked, this method doesn't work on the Sensation.
Click to collapse
In your case, try using JuopunutBear to S-OFF and see if it restores your bootloader to "locked"
Does it only say that for people who used HTC tool?
revolutionary does not unlock bootloader.
Why not just flash pg58 with stock hboot in it? Or better yet, I believe stock tmous ruu has leaked (you are on tmous, right?)

you can't flash the RUU you want cause in that case it probably won't work, you have to make sure that the RUU that you are going to flash has the same software version of your current main version.... if you follow this you will successfully install the RUU :good:

Then, you can flash ANY RUU you like .
