Hi!
Does anybody know how to import contacts from Facebook to the phone in this ROM? I have synchronized Facebook, but contacts are not there.

As i know, when you install facebbook app and launch for the first time, it asks you "do you want to sync contacts to phone?"
Just tick it and it'll sync it.
Problem is I have ticked it, but contacts still didn't synchronized.

So I used to have a G1. I would just add my Gmail account to the phone and select "only show contacts with numbers". When importing Facbeook Contacts, I clicked sync, but did not "import contacts" and it synced photos with everyone. Can someone please tell me a method using the phone only to sync both of these together? I haven't had luck...
Thanks.
Oh yeah, PS This is for the Captivate, forgot to mention I do have this phone...but I guess I shouldn't let anyone assume so.
Hi,
unfortunately my Sensation is not syncronizing the contacts from my google account. Mail an calander ist syncing o.k. I have no clue where to look for a solution, because there is no error message. Any hints?
Heinzelrumpel
go to settings->accounts and sync->google->click sync contacts
or go to contacts->menu->view->click google
this is not a matter of how to syncronize my contacts. I know where to find manual settings, but when I hit sync now on contacts nothing syncs. It says june 22th as date for the last syncronisaton. Calander was synced this morning. No problem there.
i came across the same problem on a friend's Desire where they also had Sim contacts available, then the whole of 'contacts' would not sync
try selecting only google contacts in your people app, then sync
This unfortunately does not work either
Tried a reset?
try this
>on pc, export google contacts to your desktop (to google csv file)
>on pc, delete all contacts
>on phone, delete all contacts
>on phone sync - do this to check that nothing actually reappears to confirm you have no other contact list showing up
>on pc, import google csv conacts
>on phone, sync
that's all i've got

well, after reviewing I found out, that the contacts synced again, but still the display shows an error and the date remains on june 22th. I will try to see what happens, if I ad new contacts on pc.
so, syncing both ways is succesfull even with error message.
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem - the last Contacts sync date shown there is 19th July. This is the date I had got and installed my official ICS update, and had to format my sd card (due to some office Exchange restriction). Since then, no matter what I do, it doesn't sync the newer contacts. I don't completely understand the suggestion given above. I have newer contacts added on my phone, which are not getting synced to Google contacts. (And not the other way round) - so while I can export and import back Gmail desktop contacts, if I delete the phone contacts there'd be no way to get them back.
Any suggestions?
Thanks...

What ROM you on? There is an issue with the XDA special being worked on but I still was able to import my contacts. I also made a vcard file to save to my SDcard by importing to my PC from gmail just in case. Then they can be imported to phone from SDcard.
First import contacts from SD, then sync with google account. If they doesn't appear, download aContact from the market. It's free and will allow you to edit'em so they will appear.
Open Contacts- go to display option, click your google account then check the box of all other contacts....
I need some help here...............
I am running stock mango. Phone wont sync all my contacts with any 1 client. Some are on Google, some on Facebook, and some yet on Live/Hotmail.
How do I push all of my contacts to one place for off phone storage?
Is there anyway to get all of my contacts to sync somewhere away from the phone in the event I lose my phone or all data is lost?
There must be something somewhere????
Btw, syncing contacts to Windows Live is a nightmare.
Now since you mentioned Google, I suggest you sync/backup your contacts there.
Settings, (system tab) e-mail+accounts, Google, check the box for Contacts
If you have others, uncheck Contacts in all other accounts.
Now go to Settings (applications tab) people, filter my contact list and choose whatever you like but make sure you uncheck "Windows Live".
Sync, and all your contacts should be backed in Gmail (check Contacts there from a PC).
Alternatively, if you can save your contact list as a .CSV file and import directly in Gmail (in your desktop's browser).
Thanks for the help!!
The only account that I have a checkbox for contacts in is Google, even windows live doesnt have a checkbox.
I went into setting>application>people>filter and unchecked windows live from sync and tried again, still wont load.
I have some of my contacts stored in Google, but not ALL of them!
How do I create a .csv file on my phone and export into google?
It's normal to see the checkbox only in Gmail.
Make sure on PC you check properly your Gmail account in Contacts, you should see "My Contacts" and "Imported MM/DD/YY" if you import them via CSV. Also, You might want to make sure the contacts from your SIM are on the phone (might be why you're missing some contacts).
Alternatively, you can edit your contacts yourself in Gmail.
This guide might prove very useful to you for transferring, importing, exporting contacts.
Still no dice. Cant find how to access my contacts via SIM since doing the Mango update.
This is getting frustrating. No one is having the same problem with the Arrive?
Import or Export ?
I am sorry but I am bit lost in the conversation.
What is that you want to do ?
Import Contacts in the Phone or Export Contacts from the Phone to somewhere else ?
I want my contacts exported somewhere, that way if my phone crashes or is lost I have all of my contacts stored offline somewhere safe.
WP7 says this is done automatically through Windows Live and Google......its not happening on my phone, only SOME contacts are stored in each

I've historically had the opposite experience. I think Gmail contacts & calendars are both pretty inconsistent, and my Live account has been 100x better to sync with. I even had issues on Android with Gmail contacts/calendar.
Still cant sync contacts or calendar with Gmail........any suggestions? I cant be the only one with this issue, can I?
Is there an App for Google yet on Mango?
I posted this elsewhere on the forums a moment ago and it relates to getting google contacts to sync with my Nokia Lumia 800.
I set it all up nicely and then found that none of my google phone numbers were synced. I had a similar experience with my old android phone (well the opposite problem actually)
I fixed this by highlighting all my contacts in google on a PC and making sure they were all in the "my contacts" group as that seems to be the only group that the phone will sync. Once done, all of my contacts were there.
Don't sync the google calendar so cant comment
enjoy!
Hi guys,
I assumed that with all Android devices nowadays, any contact I add will be by default saved to Google Contacts.
just browsed my Google Contacts online and found that almost all of my recent phonebook additions are missing from Goog Contacts.
Isn't there a way to have them saved and synced forever??
Thanks,
TD

Having the same problem
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
Go under system setting then account and touch google account and turn sync on. If your under T-Mobile they have their own account sync
After confirming you have Google account and synced, check in PEOPLE app that the contacts are actually saved as "Google" accounts.
If not, you can always go to people->menu->manage contacts->copy contacts->from phone->to Google.
Hi guys,
Thanks for the replies.
I think the issue was that by default, the contacts were saving as "Outlook" contacts, hence why they weren't appearing in my G Contacts.
Not sure why the default is set to Outlook - is there a way to change this?
Also, it appears there is no way to migrate contacts added and synced to Outlook to G Contacts.. Anyone know?
Cheers,
TD

No need for Outlook extract:
Get into people on your phone, choose in the menu: manage contacts, copy contacts, choose the source account (Outlook in your situation) and then the destination (Gmail) and Done.
