Hello everyone.
I just want to mod a costum rom and i need system files of original samsung rom. But when i download a firmware from sammobile.com, it contains .tar.md5 file. I need .zip file like costum roms, so that i can use system folder for my costum rom. How can i find samsung's system folders to modify? Can anyone help me?
Thank you
extract the content .tar archive, and zip the content (incl.system folder)
Now you can mod it.

Android, sorry about that i forgot to mention it.
I'm using galaxy s2 and want to create costum rom which based on Samsung's official rom's. But i can only use .zip costum roms like CM9 etc. How can use samsung rom's for a base rom?
there is an APP called archidroid
this can extract .tar . If it say not supported rename the .tar.md5 to
.tar......
Now you have the extracted content.
Mod it and then ZIP it.(e.g. Wirth archidroid )
Good Luck!

Thank you dude, that will help me a lot!
But if you already have a cyanogenmod port, use this as base Rom, its a lot easier.(just a recommendation)

when you extract zip file, wallpapers are in system/media/wallpapes.
no there is no folder named as wallpapers
just extract the wallapaper apk you want and copy it to the /system/app folder of your rom in which you want them and they will be installed

Yeah I too found that in Dqib's Sony HD Tom, but in other rom it's in twallpaper
Cheers
Decompile the twwallpaperchooser.apk or cmwallpaper.ap with apk manager apk multi tool or any other tool...navigate to dreawable-ldpi folder in res you will find what u need
For my fellow mallus out there..if you have a phone thats rooted and running any cm7 rom check out this collection of xml files from each apk that is translated.
Use 7zip to copy replace these files in the values/ res of the corresponding decompiled apks(use apktool) in your phones' rom..
Then recompile using apktool..
Copy replace the resource.asrc file from the build file in the original apk again using 7 zip
Warning ..im having some problems with the mms, contacts and phone.apks..others are ok..
Ur welcome to further edit/ translate(not all are complete) the xml files using notepad++(dont use any other)

Do you know any ways to add Malayalam language
So that malayalam post can be read
Sent from my LG-P690 using xda app-developers app
Frm ICS onwards i think malayalam can be read in the browser..for gingerbread you need to root your phone, install root explorer and replace the droidsansfallback.ttf file with a renamed anjalioldlipi.ttf file
For malayalam keyboard i use honsos MultiLing keyboard app.

Should i delete droidsanfallback.ttf ??
Or just install anjali oldlipi ???
Sent from my LG-P690 using xda app-developers app
Rename the anjalioldlipi as DroidSansFallback.ttf (mind the case) and replace the original in system/ fonts(in root explorer u have to mount as r/w).

You probably are installing rom using cwm. But the zip file you are using dorsnt have boot.img as due to xda rules developers are removing boot.img as micomax hasnt released its source. so extract this from stock rom and update zip with this file or incase you dont understand then easily update stock rm using sp tool.
I hope it helps.
