I need a need a new USB/charger cable.
Anyone can suggest a reliable source on ebay ? The one I just received from Singapore in only 2 feet long (my fault, I know but it says "replacement for the HP Touchpad" and is not very strong, wont last a year for sure.
Thank you.
i ordered the cheapest one i could find on amazon.. 6 feet long for 3-4$ delivered.. works just fine.. even couple feet longer would be better..

Hi! If you have a GT7+ you might be very interested in the Samsung accessory which turns your Multiport into a USB host port for ~20€ in europe and I think also around 20$ in the US.
Now I got myself this cheap china clone:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/150818531662...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_4928wt_1163
It costs 1,23€ including international shipping, and you should expect up to 5 weeks of shipping time (took only around 2 days for me though)
It works just as fineas the original one (I didnt try the original, but I had no problems with this one either)
Build quality seems sufficient, it's not bad but the around 20x more expensive original is probably better.
One last thing to notice is that this one has a cable (look at the pics on ebay) while the original one forces you to stick you flash drive etc directly into the device. While the cable might be a bit less stable, its certainly nice to not have a huge usb device stick out on one side.
On a side note: Though it says it's only for 8.9 and 10.1 it works just fine with my 7.0+
i got this last february from dealextreme.. http://dx.com/p/otg-adapter-cable-for-samsung-galaxy-tab-p7500-p7510-p7300-p7310-black-10cm-109037 works great with my p6200...
For those live in Singapore, If you dont want to wait for the shipment, get one at s$6.90 at Chellenger, work just fine
I got one off of eBay for $0.99 (search for Galaxy Tab USB host). Works perfectly. For HDMI the only option I found is the official adapter, though.

I use my N4 for navigation and to monitor my car's ODBII output. I needed a windshield mounted holder that was secure but easy to install/remove.
There are a bunch on ebay from China but I wanted one faster so I found a US supplier. Very simple design that could be used for most any bar type device; phone, iPod, GPS ...
For $4.65 I cannot complain: Universal phone holder
The seller shipped fast with a USPS tracking number.
Does it stick to the windshield firmly? I never actually bought one of these before so I'm a bit skeptical about how well it'll work since it's from a eBay seller.

Yup, you can't pull it off. You have to use the release to remove it. We've had temperatures from 30-70F and it's still stuck.
Thanks, about to buy one.
bought one.. how long did it take to arrive?
I hope it'll arrive to Canada fast. The seller shipped it but didn't provide a tracking number.... weird :S

It arrived in less than a week, I don't recall the exact time period, sorry.
I switched the mount to my 1994 Blazer and back again without issue. I mention this because old windshields tend to collect "stuff" on them and sometimes things don't stick well. I did not clean the windshield, it just stuck on.
Shipping time
I just checked, I purchased it April 3rd, it arrived April 8th.:cyclops:
Yeah, mine came pretty fast. Came in a couple of days.
And this thing is pretty awesome for a car holder. It does feel a bit cheap and you probably will have to be bit more careful with it, but basically, stick it and forget is the motto for this thing.
4.5/5 is my rating for this.
Sent from my Nexus 4
still happy
I've been using mine for about a month, multiple car changes, it still works as advertised. The only issue is if you goo over REALLY rough roads it tends to bounce around a bit. I just lower it so that the bottom touches the dash and the issue goes away.
I think I'll buy two more for my other cars so I don't have to keep swapping it out.
That's an Exogear knockoff.

From Asus for free?
Mine has started cracking, and is very lightly used.

i have, not a single problem they quickly sent me a new one in return
Same here (NL). Reported an RMA, they arranged a courier, who picked up the package a few days later. After about a week I received a new one.
I bought an aftermarket USB cable from Amazon. I have to say that It's much better than the stock cable. It's longer, thicker, and where the cable meets the proprietary end of the plug is much more robust.
It feels like it's going to last a lot longer than the flimsy one that came with the device. I was certain I would have been replacing that one every 6 months.

Found some deals on the cables -- the three foot ones are still available. Not sure if there's interest on this site, but $4.50 is a pretty good price.
I hope you like them!
thanks for sharing. Picked up a 3 foot black one
are these good?
Thank you!!

seems that they work well for the 5x and 6p- they work slowly on the macbook and the pixel, though. based on reviews.
I just ordered a cable direct from Google. I ordered 11/11 and just got notice from FedEx that they were delivered today. I just did the free shipping option.
I could have bought cheap ones but why bother testing out cheap cables when the Google ones are $12.99 and I don't have any questions or concerns with them.

Not a bad idea. I just got one of these because of how cheap they are. I can't imagine what could go so horribly wrong with a cable.

Dun.. Dun... Dunnnn!!!
The cable itself probably won't be damaged but whatever end you're attaching to with the USB a side, it might damage because it may pull more power than it can handle. Only the USB C side connections are certified to handle up to the 3A charge.
I wouldn't touch this with with a 10-foot pole unless verified by Benson,
or verified by someone else (using Benson's method) with photos to prove.
I wouldn't want the charger burning down my house while I'm fast asleep or out and about.
My USB port is slowly dying. It only charges when the cable is in a certain position and when I move it , it stops charging.
Anyone know of a good place to get a new flex cable? I looked at etradesupply, but the shipping is too expensive. The port is 17.99, but the shipping to Canada is 31.99.
I bought 2 off amazon, but when I install it, everything works except the loud speaker. At first I thought it was a defective cable, so I tried the second one I bought as the spare.......still no sound.
At this point I thought I messed up my phone, but when I put the original one back, everything works again except the charging port.
Anyone have any experience with this? Know of a place the sells one that works?
Thanks
Where are you located? Ebay?
Since the N5 has built-in wireless charging, you could just buy a cheap qi charging pad to charge the phone wirelessly.
I'm in Canada.
I did think about eBay, but I'm worried it will be the same as the amazon one. I was hoping someone had ordered one from somewhere and can confirm it worked.
Are you in Toronto? Maybe post an ad on a buy sell trade forum for the part? Any local repair shops gave the part?
Sorry, I should have been more specific. I'm in Vancouver.
I have contacted several reputable businesses in Vancouver, but they want to charge to install the part. I understand their point though since the profit is in the labour.
I'm hoping I don't have to go that route since its substantially more expensive. The cheapest I have been qouted is $60.
I have opened up the phone and am comfortable installing it, so I'm hoping I can save some money doing it myself.
Is this the piece you need? A wireless charger could charge the phone if the USB port is able to transfer data.

Yup!
That's what I need. Have you bought from a place that you can confirm works?
The one I have works for sure because it actually came from an LG phone. I purchased two phones: 1 with a smashed glass, the other with a damaged emmc. I took the motherboard from the phone with a smashed glass and put it into the phone with a defective motherboard.
I have never purchased replacement parts from a third party except for non-oem pre-assembled LCD/digitizer/glass/frame from Aliexpress.
The USB replacments from Amazon look exactly like the original with the same number of contacts, etc.?

The amazon one I got, looks exactly like the one in the phone right now.....thats why I'm confused as to why it didn't work. I tried 2 and both the loudspeaker didn't work. Everything else works......however .
I'm not sure which vendor sold the part but were there any negative reviews or buyers mentioning this problem? Could it be something unique about your phone's speaker? I doubt it because the speaker for the d820 and d821 have the same part number.

There were only 2 reviews.....one said they had the sound problem and the other said it was fine.....I guess its hit or miss with third party parts.
It was the cheapest I found, so that may have something to do with it not working.
Amazon. Never buy cheap
OP purchased them from Amazon but I'm not sure of the price.
Any particular place you recommend?
Did you clean the original? 99%of the time its lint in it
I believe the OP has solved the problem.

Yup! Problem solved!
I kind XDAer ( I won't mention who, unless they want me to say) sent me the original flex cable from their broken nexus 5.
I did try to clean the port, but it was still no good.
I did buy from Amazon, however I have to admit it was the cheapest one they had for sale. I guess you do get what you pay for.
