No "what is new" information - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi.
When I update an app in my TF700 (JB) through Play, "what's new" and description information are missing in the update screen. It just shows permissions. The only way to find out what's updated and to see description is to look for the app in the search bar, as if you're installing the app first time. This bug, if it is a bug, does not exist on my other devices. Any idea to resolve this? Thanx.

I just tap on the app itself to display the changes with the latest update. In Google play, my list of apps appear on the left-hand side of the screen and if I just tap on the app that's about to update it will show the permissions required. Then I tap the link to the app itself (just anywhere near the upper right hand where the name of the app is) and it will take me to the app in Google play with a list of the changes.

Same for me, I think this is by design. And it's really inconvenient. My workaround: Install "Changelog Droid".

Lol. Just Click the app icon on the right hand side and all will be revealed.

Yes, I've found out that. While installing the update if you press the icon of the app on the right upper side, it brings you the basic install information was well as what's new information. Still, without starting the install no show of change log. But thanx anyway.

megamoz, you don't have to start to install to be able to click on the icon on the upper right hand side. Just clicking anywhere on the grey area or the name of the app in the grey area on the right hand side should take you to the app with the 'What's New' up the top. This can be done anytime for your list of installed apps.

where's google now?

I thought it was going to be included witht 4.1.1, but i don't see it after the update, and it's not on the market either... What am i missing here
Long press the Home button and you should see a circle with "Google" in it. Select that and Google Now opens.
I didn't even think about that... Does anyone know if it's in the gapps zips? I don't think it is, since maps wasn't in the zip I flashed.
Look in your apps list too for a blue icon with a white letter g just labelled "Google". That's Google Now.

I figured that out after I made my reply. Lol.
You can also launch it from the lock screen or the Google search bar.

I'm still trying to figure out how this all works. It seems like it works better on a phone, than my Transformer Pad, for me... The scheduling and other features are something I access on my phone, but not my pad.

Browser light touch jb

This may be covered but i have not found it. Sorry for duplicate if so.
Stock browser jelly bean
while checking on reported browser problems, I found a setting that makes my browsing experience much better. when browsing I often have to hit link a couple of times before response. same problem popping up keyboard. I've thought it was fat fingers, missing the link, and the fact I like to browse desktop. there is a setting that has changed all this for me.
there is a hidden settings menu item, you get there by typing "about:debug" no quotes in address bar, enter, open settings, and you should see debug . under debug toward the bottom of options is "enable light touch".
makes a big difference.

had to have something loaded in the browser first ... a new window wasn't letting me.
Thanx Woody!
This trick made the browser even better.
Yes, the browser is responding much faster and more sensitive. Good found.

Apk's won't install

I'm running Clean ROM Inheritance 3.2.1 and I can't get apk's to install. Specifically Asus MyFrame and the email widget (it has oddly disappeared). After I run them it always finishes with "X app not installed". Any one know why? Thanks.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda app-developers app
These are both apps/widgets that are included in the main AROMA install of CROMI -- did you select them in the installer? Check in system/app if the apk files are there -- you cannot install a user app if an apk with the same name is present in the system/app folder. This is the first step I can think of right now --not much, sorry -- but if you give it a try and then report back in, we'll take it from there. Someone far more knowledgeable than me will come in eventually.
Sent from a comfortable chair from the outer ring of Purgatory. The red guy asked me to say 'hi'.
As Marty says you shouldn't need to install these - they are part of the installer in CROMI.
What are you actually trying to do?
I had the email widget after installing 3.2.1. Then after installing Bacon Reader for reddit from the play store the desktop icon got placed where the email widget was and the widget vanished. It is no longer listed as an installed widget.
I did select myframe during the CROMI setup but it does not show up in the list of installed apps.

Right, first My Frame will never show up - it is accessed by going into live wallpapers
Now onto your other issue - are you using the stock launcher? I suspect not as asus widgets don't play nicely with some other launchers. The fact you said another icon got placed over the top sounds like you are using Nova or Apex with allow widget overlapping turned on.
I'm using the JB 4.2 launcher

Yep that'll be the issue - Asus widgets don't like the non stock launcher especially if you change from the default DPI settings.
Try it on the Asus Stock launcher and I bet you won't have an issue
I'll just find a new email widget. That one took up to much real estate for want it did anyway. Enjoying the JB 4.2 experience too much. Thanks for the help.

Yes it is built in - go to settings, labs and enable quick controls.
Then when you want to bring up the menu, hold your finger on the right or left side of the screen and slide

Ads - Red Star or Yellow Star with Red Dot

I have begun receiving ads on the side bar (red star) with notice on the bottom bar (yellow star with red dot).
While I assume I have installed something with an add component I've been unable to identify which app they are tied to so that I can uninstall.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi there,
I had the same problem on another android device. I used to receive many notifications, maybe 10 in the same day. I never took the time to read what was written, but I did a few days ago, and I noticed the app that was causing the ad notification was written like this "****(ad by nameoftheapp) ". Mine was "Musician's recorder", a bad app I forgot to uninstall.
Luckily, uninstalling the app stopped the ads. :good:
The notification I received were the same as you, sometimes the red star, sometimes a green "+".
Good luck!

Download "Lookout Ad Network Detector" AND "Airpush detector" from the market, both of these apps should show you what app in your device is generating ads. If it a legit app (the one you intended to use) then keep other wise uninstall the rest.
