allshare cast dongle - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

is there any verizon rom that has this feature by chance, i just got the dongle and i dont see it in my settings, i know sprint, att and tmoblie have it. can any one port it ?

Allshare cast is jellybean Rom feature. Allshare cast is miracast. U ether need the Allshare cast dongle or widi 3.5 device. (Widi 3.5 now supports miracast) Allshare cast is WiFi alliance miracast certified. The only phones out now that is miracast capable is s3, note II, and the LG optimus G. If you already have a miracast capable tv like certain Samsungs wifi tv with miracast built in which they call Allshare cast than u use it without the Allshare cast dongle. Samsung dongle, built in miracast tv or widi 3.5 device will work

There's a thread already discussing this in this very forum... it's been staying near the top of the pile too so I dunno how you missed it.

Thanks OP for the thread. I was looking for information on this.

I don't care if there are 10 more threads regarding any topic. If you see a thread and you want to help someone out or try to share info then do it... but don't go into a thread and and waste everyone's time pointing out that other people are talking about the same subject. Just move on if you don't have anything to add.

[Q] Cheapest and best Miracast option? And roms with Miracast

I am very interested in getting some kind of Miracast adapter so I can use my phone like you can with an idevice and Apple TV. What would be the best option? Also, I know a few devices have Miracast compatibility so would future roms for phones be able to have that feature added even if it isnt officially supported for the device I am using?

Rocketfish does not work with the galaxy s4 gives me some HDCP is not supported error. Pretty pointless for samsung to put it on the phone if you can not use it!

[Q] Can a Note 10.1 (GT-N8000) stream Miracast?

Hi, I've been thinking about this subject for a long time and the available information is sparse and non-consistent. On top of that numerous wireless standards are named confusingly and do not create a clear picture of what this device is capable of.
So I saw my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 has a feature called AllShare Cast (in Settings). For that to function you need a Samsung AllShare Cast dongle on your TV/PC, which wouldn't be a very satisfying option for me, as I'd rather have something brand-agnostic so any new device could hook up.
So I heard about this Miracast standard, that would allow certain devices to connect to Miracast capable hardware, no matter which brand they were from. So I tried looking up whether the Galaxy Note 10.1 would ever support Miracast, and so far, my search has come up only with the WiFi Alliance certificates that underline that the Galaxy Note 10.1 does not have the Miracast Source certificate, which for example the Samsung Galaxy S3 does have.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (GT-N8000)
Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9300)
But a few forum posts I've come across claim that AllShare Cast is built on top of Miracast, suggesting that these two implementations might be compatible. That's a confusing statement in the best and a misleading statement in the worst case. Is there any way that the hardware of the Galaxy Note 10.1 would be usable to send Miracast? Like by a custom kernel or ROM, an OTA update etc? Or is this manifestly impossible due to differences in hardware?
nope it doesnt!
Intel WiDi is also Miracast based. And you can connect any Upnp DLNA Player to a WiDi Server.
But couldnt get that running with my Note.
Maybe Allsharecast only works via WiFi Direct?

Miracast is based on WiFi Direct not Upnp, and Intel widi have some issued that will be fixed via driver update, if you want to connect your note to Upnp don't use allshare cast but use the normal all share application, that is for now till the drivers are fixed, but onething for sure is that note10.1 is on the list of miracast certified devices

Could you provide me with a list that mentions the Note 10.1?
I only find a press release (link) stating the following:
"As a leader in N-screen technology, Samsung has introduced AllShare Cast (based on Miracast), which is incorporated into most of Samsung's high-end smart mobile devices including the GALAXY S III, GALAXY Note 10.1, and GALAXY Note II, " said Hankil Yoon, Senior Vice President of Product Strategy Team, Samsung's Mobile Communication Business. "We will continue to support the program, and plan to offer more Miracast-certified devices to our customers going forward."
But then if you watch the two links in my first post (which link to the WiFi Alliance certificates of these devices), you see they state that the Samsung Galaxy S3 has Miracast Source certification, where the Galaxy Note 10.1 doesn't make any mention of it. Perhaps this still can be added in a future review of the hardware.
I just looked up the Galaxy Note II (GT-N7100) on the WiFi Alliance product certification page, sorted to only show Samsung products, it too, doesn't list Miracast Source as a certified option.
Here's a list of all "officially" certified Miracast devices.
Here's another XDA post outlining success with the SGS3 but faillure with a Note II.

[Q] tf700 compatible with Samsung allshare cast dongle?

My brother just got the galaxy s3 and thought what better present than the cast dongle for xmas?
but then he also bought himself the tf700 soo im wondering if the tf700 work with the allshare cast dongle?
do i need to root the tablet ?
thank you!
The short answer is no, it won't. Samsung allshare cast dongle is proprietary and it works with some of their newest models (like Galaxy S3). The miracast standard will fix this, but it is not ready for prime time yet.

Depending on exactly what you are trying to accomplish, it may already be capable via AllShare Cast. I can show my Note 10.1 screen on multiple note 10.1 devices, I think 8 is the max (I have only had 5 going, no more too add or test), but using AllShare Cast, the other devices would display whatever my screen is displaying. This will also work for newer Samsung TV/Displays, at least natively on their "Smart TV's" from 2012 for certain. Also, their is an AllShare Hub accessory that can be purchased to do the same thing on any TV/monitor/projector with HDMI input. It works with both audio & video & while the hub is a bit expensive for older tv's ($99.00 USD), if you register a Samsung device on the Samsung website, you get a code good for %50 off up to 10 items. I used the code to get the Hub for $49.00, as well as for a Navigation & a Desk dock.
It is great for just about anything except racing or fast action games. There is a small lag, nothing major, almost unnoticeable, unless you are playing a game where a few milliseconds can be the difference between wrecking or making a turn in Asphalt. For everything else though, it is pretty sweet. I use it for my older Plasma in the media room.

All share cast will mirror whatever is going on on your tab, it is like connecting the tab via hdmi to a screen, so if you run your app on note it will show on every connected device

Dude we know about that but we need to know if there is some way to do it without chromcasts stuff...

@tazaga unless you have a samsung tv to my knowledge you wont be able to do it without some kind of smart device so @Gary_Berg was quite correct with his answer. Is your TV a samsung tv? do you have a smart device of somekind connected to it? if no to both answers then you cannot do it sorry. I would listen to @Gary_Berg answer if this is the case and get a smart device, i would recommend a fire tv box or stick as you can do so much more with these over chromecast
It does not necessary shouldbe Samsung SmartTV. It can be any TV with Miracast. S6 has SmartVeiw (or ScreenCast in old firmware).Or use Miracast dongle (e.g. ScreenBeam Mini2). not recommend cheap chiness allcasts due to instability...
ScreenBeam Mini2 works great.
@petr_1 thanks you i stand corrected

You will spend more than the cost of a Chromecast unless you have a Miracast device already in hand. I believe some of the newer Roku devices can also do Miracast.
And you didn't specify what you didn't want to hear. For most people, the Chromecast IS the best answer.
