Have got the version of flash that's in the CWM sticky, but noticed my N1 today got an upgrade, and am wondering if there is a way to pull that over to my G-tab? Or do I just need to be a little patent and someone will post an update in a day or two?

You can try but the flash seems to be device specific in some cases so it may just bork your flash. Make a backup so you can restore it if you try

Since you mention CWM I will assume you have root.
Get a free Dropbox account and install on your N1 and gTab. Then it's as easy as copying the Flash apk into the Dropbox folder on your phone and then downloading it from your Dropbox folder on your gTab.
Doesn't get much easier.
I saw the flash update on my N1 this morning. I read the release notes for 10.1.106.16. It states:
Flash Player (10.1.106.16) impacts new users only and is not a mandatory update for existing users. It SHOULD NOT be installed on devices/tablets with the NVIDIA Terga 2 Super Chip including the LG Optimus 2X, Dell Streak 7, and Motorola ATRIX. The pre-installed version of Flash Player is optimized for Tegra 2 (this is my addition... if only there was a pre-installed version of the Flash Player installed on the gtab...) Future updates will include these optimizations. If you are unsure as to whether your device includes the NVIDIA Tegra 2, please consult your device owner's manual.
Maybe the versions prior have the same stipulation I don't know (this is the first time I saw this), but it's probably best to stick with what works for now. Probably won't be a lot of change until the release with the official Tegra 2 support is made available.

The update says in it's notes that it isn't for tegra devices... kinda useless to us.

P/s: Good Luck and Fighting !!!
Tips & Tricks:
1. For those who have Wifi issue, can try out this code in build.prop to see whether it makes any differences:
a) Change:
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=150
b) Add below this code:
net.tcp.buffersize.wifi=4096,87380,256960,4096,163 84,256960
2-a. To reduce CPU speed in order to save the battery:
1. Install Setcpu in Google Play
2. Set Cpu to on demand instead of performance.
3. Save and monitor the battery life again.
2-b. A few profiles in setcpu to help manage the power ( Thanks to lansi23 )
There are 4 speeds for the phone:
166 250 500 1000
-When screen off
166-250
-In call
166-250
-Screen on
166-1000
3. Thanks angelobiz: For remove old, hidden driver you can see this: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/504/how-to-uninstall-hidden-devices-drivers-and-services/
4. Thanks caviar44: This is a tool to remove old drivers: USBDeview v2.11. Just right click on driver instance and then choose "uninstall selected devices".
5. Moborobo - The Android Smartphone PC Manager ( You can use it to install apps, make a backup, blah blah ) : Moborobo
P/s: If anyone comes across a custom recovery for the phone, please also post it here.
Fighting !!! :good:

Ok, I got it. Since there are two versions of this phone, one with MTK6575, which is 1Ghz processor, is my phone and the cheaper version runs MTK6573 which is 640MHz.
I think you should get MTK6575 version as it will make a big difference.
could be similar to the Star N8000, same specs, there is a root procedure for the N8000 in the Star N8000 thread but don't know if it will work for this phone...
Thanks drmosh, I will try it out

I'v had this phone for a couple of days now and Im loving it. There is only one small downside, wifi SUCKS the battery out of this one. So I hope a future rom or modification can remedy this.
I managed to root it today using TPSparkyroot
Someone let me know if I should post the build.prop file for modification possibilites. Maybe there is something that can be edited to lower wifi battery drain
Hi and thanks
I hope that there will have enought user to build a kind if "community" here as this phone is new.
But i also think that the hardware is quite similar as lot of other china droid phone...

OK got the Karbonn A15 yesterday dubbed as a Ninja Killer by some was able to root it today
here are the steps
the driver files are included on the phone internal card called pcdrivers.zip. you can connect the usb mount the internal usb storage and copy the file to your pc. if you face any problems you can download the file from here
1. Enable USB Debugging - Under SETTINGS - DEVELOPER OPTIONS
2. Install the drivers for the phone - copy drivers from your phone internal card or download from here
3. download "Android Root Unlock" from sourceforge.net and extract it to a folder on your harddisk
4. navigate to the above folder and run the batch file ICS_Root_Unlocker.bat
the batch file will reboot your phone a couple of times and will wait with a message "Press Any Key to continue"
IMP NOTE : if you pc is saying "PRESS ANY KEY" note if your phone is on or rebooting....
if it is Rebooting, wait for it to start before pressing a key
5. After a couple of boots the phone will be rooted
6. verify that the Root is complete by observing a "Superuser" shortcut in the application list
good luck

i have been using it for only 2 days. on the first day it seemed that battery drained really fast but the next day it was better i would be able to give a better feedback in a few days.
all in all it seems the battery will last at least one day with heavy usage and around 2 days for someone like me (very low usage)
Hey.. can you please tell me about the display quality? Also, does it support 720x576 or 720x480 playback? I know it does not play 720p files but if it can play 576p files then I'll buy it..
Thanks!

1. Not necessary if you don't intended to tweak system files, gain system access permission,
2. All Android devices are rootable, but usually by default don't have root access
3. Yes warranty voided while rooting but you can unroot again
Sent from my ST21i
nevermind.. I bought it anyway.. found a deal which was too good to resist will root it as soon as I get my hands on it! Is it possible for you to post an unrooting guide as well? (just in case the phone needs to be taken to a service centre)

smoothness of the phone is excellent, did not find any lag while operating the phone, or while testing using Temple Run. the movement is very smooth. volume is good no problem there.
the only thing that is worth mentioning is that the Gravity sensor is off in my phone - meaning if i keep the phone on a flat surface it detects that the phone is leaning to the left and a little top. is this a calibratable thing in the settings or such ?

Wow this app is amazing. Runs perfect on my Galaxy S8. I'm only having one issue though that I can't seem to figure out. Tried searching Google but no luck. Some reason when you select your forces powers on multiplayer you cant unselect something and choose something else. Once you use all your points on your force powers you can't seem to undo it. It's driving me nuts! Anyone know what to do?
As for the person looking for the app on Google play it's no longer on there. Amazon's app store has it though :good:.
Seems like the app has been removed, i needed to reinstall it and its gone. Nice from google, stealing purchased items. Where can i get a working apk? Buying it again is bs.
I'm about to buy an old tablet - probably a kindle fire of some sort but I'm not sure yet. I was told by a store worker at a gadget shop that old tablets have some kind of "update block" meaning they can't be updated anymore or something. I don't remember the details but he seemed to be saying you can't download newer apps on the old devices or something. I can go back and ask for more details but I am just hoping that someone here knows what I am talking about and can fill me in on what I need to know before buying an old tablet?
I have hacked devices before (e.g. my sony psp way back or my ps3) and don't really mind rooting/jailbreaking a device, as long as it isn't too time-consuming. I basically just want an android tablet that can run new and old apps etc. Nothing fancy. Just a basic device for apps that I might need from time to time as well as using it while on the go for internet etc.
Each app gets compiled to be run on specific Android versions.: It's the app developer who defines the minimum and the maximum Android version his app can run on. So it's obvious not all apps are backwards-compatible.

I did not know that, very interesting. So what is the "update block" or whatever it is that the store person was telling me about and how does one overcome it? I know old androids only update "firmware" to a certain point, right? What happens after that? How do I run apps that are compiled to run on newer versions?
Thanks
Don't know what the store person had in mind. True is that an update is a patch for an existing Android version - what gets rolled out by OEM / carrier if they deem it necessary - whereas an upgrade is a complete replacement of an existing Android version by a higher version ( e.g. Android 4 -> Android 5 ) - what is never rolled out by OEM / carrier.
What you need is an upgrade. Because OEM / carrier certainly don't offer one you have to install a Custom ROM that matches the old tablet's hardware specs, what in turn requires you before install a Custom Recovery that is suitable to the tablet.

Right, so if I've done my (light) research correctly it would go something like this for a kindle fire HD, right? :
1. Root
2. Install android somehow
3. Upgrade the android to latest version
This is after very quick research I did on transforming a kindle fire HD to an android tablet so apologies if it doesn't make sense.
Assuming it does though, is root really necessary or can one go directly from kindle --> android? Also will step 3 already give the latest android version or is an upgrade usually needed (or would it just depend on how you actually do step 2?)
Thanks!

It's NOT needed to root Android.
To flash a Custom Recovery like TWRP it's only needed that device's bootloader got unlocked before.

Not sure yet but it seems like the shop has a lot of variety within my budget from kindle fire HD 2012 to kindle fire 7" 2015 5th gen. It also has a handful of other brands within my budget: google nexus, acer iconia, lenovo smarttab, generic android tablets, etc.

Does this work for kindle fire too or just android? If only android is that what you would recommend? The reason I want a kindle fire is because I had one before for a short time and liked it. But a previous generic android tablet I had overheated at the back making it very uncomfortable on the hands. I can send you a list of the options I have at the moment if that would help?

If you're wanting to have the latest updates on your tablet, I'd say pick another device that isn't a Amazon tablet. Other tablets often have better support for custom ROMs and firmware. While you can find custom ROMs and firmware available for Kindle Fire tablets, they are often outdated and abandoned. You can flash TWRP onto a Kindle Fire, but most of that time that will only give you the ability to root it.
