Nexus 10 - Asus Transformer TF700

Who is planning to switch to the nexus 10 once it drops
I've been thinking of going to nexus 7 16 GB
I've had fun with this tablet but a few issues keep it from being all it can.
So I'm probably gonna put this on flea bay lol.
just can't live without this screen.
Has anyone tried any other 10 inch tablets.
If so how did they compare to the 700?

Im on the fence too but Clean Rom has made this so much better plus it is now, officially, being supported by Cyanogenmod.
We'll see what Monday brings.....

CleanRom has made it 10x better. But i will wait for the reviews of the Nexus 10 before i get it.

My Infinity is doing what I need done, so I'm not looking to get an N10.
Also, my Infinity has:
Keyboard dock with special function keys, that also works as an extra battery.
Multiple points of expandable storage
Super IPS+
Tegra Zone

I just pre ordered my 8GB nexus this morning. Is anyone else with the tf101 buying a nexus 7?

I entered a contest to win one, but so far it's only 30% chance of winning and rapidly falling. I don't think I'll be able to grab one no matter how much I want it... :/
Are you sure 8Gb is enough with no external storage?
Other than that it looks great!

I am!
I am not really sure why, or which one I will keep, though... but the price was right, to try it out.
The Nexus 7 was tempting, but I think there will be better (for me) offerings in the fall. I want a micro SD card. The google experience brand was a selling point since it will have support and speedy rom updates, but I want to give my money to a company that makes the tablet that I want. The TF infininty seems like it has all the right specs.

8GB is fine for me. I basically wanted it for its size. Carrying around a huge 10 inch tablet gets old. I'll still have my tf101 with micro sd and hdmi. Basically its an e-reader for me.

Well the infinity is what 600 dollars. There is no way I would buy a tablet for that price, because there will just be something bigger and better in 6 months. Maybe it's just me, but I waited in a line for 6 hours just to get my tf101 for $250. Two months after I bought that the prime came out.

I love the infinity! But the price is way to high imo. I'll save my money for now and see what comes out at the end of the year. Tegra 4 would be nice. But for the price of the nexus I'm not gonna pass that deal up.

Lol. Just love how apple will sue anyone. Anyways I don't get why people are making a big deal about storage. I don't know what people are loading onto their tabs. I only use 3GB on my 16GB transformer and I have a lot of apps. Just use cloud storage for your documents and music.

Yup, that was a deal breaker for me. There are a few reasons that lack of a micro SD is a bummer for me: 1) it's much easier to fix a semi-bricked device if I can just throw something on an SD card and flash it. 2) I usually keep a few movies on my current tablet and it's convenient to keep them on an microSD card that I can pop in when I'm on long flights, etc. 3) I think the lack of micro SD is a subtle way to push me to the cloud. I've got my own "cloud" and if the google/dropbox/ubuntu one cloud is good, then I will make the switch, but I don't like that decision to be made for me.
So, yeah, I'm holding my breath and my dollars for a tablet that has a micro SD slot. I will say that as a "toy", the price for the nexus 7 is pretty appealing.

Have Nook Color/cm7 and TF101. might be in minority but prefer 7/8 inch form for ease of carrying around and holding in one hand. Will be ordering Nexus 7 16G, wife can have NC to use as ereader, it is no longer good for playing games,

I would be all over the 7 if I didn't already have a TF101 32gb, with the dock. But, I figure this is a damn good tablet, and since Asus makes the 7, we've got a good chance of getting JB.

it depends what exactly you want from a tablet,
do you plan on using it on the move a lot?
would you use a physical keyboard?
how much information do you want to store on it?
What ports do you need (HDMI, USB host mode, micro sd)?
the nexus is much smaller and more portable so if you plan on using it out and about it might be better, but if you want to plug in a usb stick or micro sd card, plug the tablet in to a TV or want to store more than a couple of movies on it the tf300 might work out better. Personally i'm tempted by a nexus to take on my journey to work with me and keep my tf300 at home for general use around the home

Well i want it for everyday use.. I feel the nexus 7 will be better on the move then the tf300 but i do like the 10inch im a graphic designer so thats why i was thinking of the tf300.. The keyboard i probably won't buy.. I'll mostly going to use the tablet for designing n photography n to watch movies for my newborn.. Its a big decision.. Now is the tf300 root friendly? I gotta see what I'm going to decide.. Ill see other peoples take on it.. Thanks for ur feed back..

I just got my TF300T on Saturday after deciding between it and the Nexus 7. It was super easy to put Cyanogenmod on (ASUS has a bootloader unlocking tool right on their site).
I like it a lot, I'm happy I went with it, I picked it mainly because of the bigger screen, I'm going to be using it for University, so I figured it'd be a lot easier to type on.
I'd say the main deciding factor between the 2 would be screen size (which would be a personal choice). Also price is a factor, the Nexus 7 is half as much.
If you're anything like the graphic designers I work with I think you'll be at home with the tf300, the extra screen estate would be useful over the nexus and the extra ports would be useful options, not to mention the size some files reach doing that sort of thing 16gb might not last that long. The keyboard is useful but I seem to use mine more as a top up charger than keyboard

I was between the tf300 and nexus 7 I still have my pre order actually. But after looking at things IMO the nexus just lacks to many things. It's pretty cool but you can see what I picked in the end lol.

What about the rumored Nexus 10?
Both are great for their own reasons. Im getting both. I already have a white tf300, I preordered a 16gb Nexus 7, and am selling my Galaxy Tab 7.7 to my mother in law.
I was thinking of a nexus 7, but the lack of expandable storage was a huge turn off.

For sure
Before i bought my TF300T i searced the market and the websites a lot.
I saw that it hasn't he best screen or the faster gpu but the things that made me buy it was, price,32gb,and of course the super duper speed recharge time. only 2:15 hours for a full charge.
I was on the fence between the N7 and the TF300 as well. I eventually decided to go with the TF300 for a few reasons, heres why;
16GB N7 with shipping and case came out to $285, for $115 more I get
Double the capacity with a 32GB TF300
mHDMI Out
mSDCard Port
32GB mSD Card, totaling 64GB on TF300
Mako Case
an additional 3" of screen real-estate
Slightly better battery
Optional Keyboard Dock
Those things, imo, were too good to pass up for the price. Yes, the N7 is still a great device, but I dont think it is geared towards anyone who would frequent these forums as it just leaves out too many things.

I too, want to see if they will announce a Nexus 7 10" however I cant keep waiting for something since I'll never have a tablet, lol, and I need one for work.
I predict they will announce a N7 10" that is just like the 7" without SDcard or HDMI and people will say "ok, well im waiting to see if they make a Nexus 2 tablet with sdcard and hdmi" lol.
I may get the nexus 7 just because of the price.

if you don't need a tablet now. i would wait until fall and get the nexus 10"...that should be a 10" model with jelly bean and a rumored $299 price tag. should be awesome.
quadrant test on both
So i got a weird question then, if the Asus transformer has a Tegra 3 quad and so does the Nexus 7,same chip, Nexus has a better gpu then the Transformer i believe, so why does the quadrant test so much higher on the Asus transformer then the Nexus 7, Nexus 7 having a smaller screen size should make it better on the quadrant right?
I bought the Google I/O model N7 8gb from a guy on craigslist for $250 New and played with it for a day, listed it on eBay and it sold for $425 to help fund the consumer model 16gb. It really is a small compact speed demon but relying on Wi-Fi and the cloud for storage has pushed me to find a good deal on the TF300T 32gb with expandable memory. I loved the size but the lack of storage killed it for me. Knowing me I'll pickup the 300, sell or trade it for another N7 later on. Who knows?! Lol

What tablet would you buy if...

You were looking for the latest android OS, a top end processor and I'd say at least a 10" screen?
I know about the nexus 7, but I think I want a bigger screen...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
You might be looking for a bigger screen, bit the Nexus 7 is straight from Google so you can get all the latest updates quicker than the rest like the Galaxy Nexus. I am not sure about the screen size, the Nexus I believe is the only pne to have JB. If you want something bigger, try out the ASUS Transformer which you can make a laptop and is pretty fast. Or just wait for the Surface whixhcwill be very fast if you buy the high end one.
Thank me if I helped!

MIDRANGE---
- Asus Transformer
HIGH-END
- Surface
Bear in mind the surface wont be out for a while, and doesn't run android. Its also most likely to be around the ~$500 mark. The nexus is great value for price, if you don't mind the screen size. The transformer is probably more like what you're looking for, its got power to boot and reasonably priced for the hardware.

Nexus 7 owner thinking about getting infinity pad

Hi guys I have a nexus 7 got it on release . It is my first ever tablet I love it but I find myself using my gnex more than it .I feel like it is an over sized gnex rather than a true tablet . I recently sold my dell xps 15 z and I really need something I can use to do word documents check email tweet a bit Skype my girl friend etc ..I was wondering if selling my nexus 7 to get an infinity pad is a good idea?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I was deciding between the Nexus 7 and the Transformer Infinity for my first tablet purchase. The iPad was out because of the closed ecosystem, and I have already paid for android apps on my phone that will scale up well once installed on the tablet. The Nexus 7 was almost a no brainer for me, it has a great price, quad-core processor, amazing screen and great software support from Google except for the lack of
1. MicroSD expandability (gameloft games on average take up at least 2 gigs of internal memory)
2. HDMI-out (with apps like Netflix, Hulu plus, and HBO go not to mention flash support, being able to output that to a TV screen is a huge plus)
For about twice as much as the Nexus 7, the Infinity offers a higher resolution screen that's also brighter powered by a top of the line quad core processor. It also includes a microSD slot, 8 mp camera, microHDMI out and the ability to expand via a mobile docking station that adds additional battery life, full sized USB OTG support and a SD slot. I have to say that all the additional features are worth the extra premium. I don't have to worry about storage space and the tablet functions much like a laptop replacement for me. If you're on the fence between the two, I'd say go for the Infinity.
Thanks dude yeah I have the nexus 7 now ...idk it just seems like an overweight galaxy nexus ....I'm really leaning on getting the tf700

I had the same situation, I was wondering between Nexus 7 and Asus Infinity. Those were actually the only options I was considering.
Lets just say that finally the decision turned into Infinity because here in FInland cannot yet buy Nexus 7. Also because I already have a big screened phone (SGS3) i was thinking that the difference between phone and tablet would then be quite small.
My feelings are quite divided currently. On the other hand I love the screen, it is sharp and nice. I like to read books and magazines from it. But then on the other hand the Android system is very laggy. Not sure what is going on here but this is much worse than for example with Galaxy S 2 and no reason to put this on the same table with Galaxy S 3.
Also for example right now I just for some reason lost connection to wifi and this claims not in range. However I have Galaxy S 3 and ipad 1 just next to it and both are working just fine..
I truly hope this is just some sucky software, but currently can't say I am impressed...

Yeah, I had a nexus 7. It wasn't bad just didn't have enough space. It was surely an upgrade to the galaxy tab 8.9 I had before it. I gave my mom the nexus 7 when I picked up the Infinity, and the Infinity is great. The FFC on the Infinity is nice for Skype and the key-dock isn't bad. Its a little small but not hard to type on. I have extra-large glove sized hands and I never get typos on regular keyboards, but do get a few on the Infinity's. I wouln't want to write a novel on the Infinity but for short papers, emails, etc its not bad at all and beats onscreen keyboards hands down. Lots of luck in your decision making.

I have both...the Nexus 7 is fun to play games on and read on...also, there is a lot of development for it already and it's fun to flash new roms and kernels. It does have serious storage limitations and you just can't use it for anything related to productivity, at least I can't. The TF infinity is just a bigger. more meaty tablet...I'm typing this now on the keyboard dock, got a wireless mouse, and with the super battery life I'm getting, I really don't need a laptop. I'm running the Zeus rom and it's much smoother and snappier than before.

That's because it's impossible to answer a question like that - we are not you - we don't use the device the same as you would. How can someone else decide which device is better for you? That's a personal decision based on your usage and personal preferences!
Personally, I think the Nexus 7 and the Infinity are two completely different beasts. It's very hard to truly compare them. One is small enough to slide it your jacket pocket and one is more of a netbook replacement (assuming you get the keyboard dock). They really are geared toward different audiences.
So, to answer you question - go to a store and try them out and see which you would prefer! That's the only way to really answer your question.

I was in the same exact situation as you! I bought the Nexus 7 and really did like it especially the smoothness and the feel of jelly bean. But I have an Evo 4G lte 4.5 inch screen it just felt like a bigger version of it. So I sold the Nexus 7 and bought the Infinity and I've had it for a couple of days and I have mixed feelings. The screen on the infinity is amazing, but the lagginess and wifi dropping off is kinda getting on my nerves. The Nexus 7 did not have these issues I'm disappointed in the performance and debating exchanging it and trying a new one. I think in retrospect I should have kept the Nexus and the Infinity. Just my two cents.

I have the Nexus 7 and someone is offering me a swap and I only have to add 200 dollars for the 64gb version! The form factor of the N7 is unbeatable, it's extremely portable and easy to play games on. Surfing is a breeze and you don't feel tired when holding it for a very long time. On the other hand the screen has a lot less to be desired upon AND the screen flickering issue of the n7 is INSANE. I was just about ready to give up on the n7 but I just flashed AOKP build 3 and it might have just did the trick! I also brought my router closer and I think it does help.
I've been reading on the transformer and it has the same screen flickering issue so I'm having second thoughts.

I personally have zero screen flickering on either the Transformer Infinity or on the Nexus 7 (which my daughter has now appropriated). I believe that there are a number of units of both tablets with hardware issues but I've been fortunate enough not to experience them.

This is how it is. Most people keep talking about the specifications which a device boasts. But in reality, there are numerous things to consider. Nexus 10 is an amazing device, but as you said, it does have its own issues. One should look for something from Samsung as even though little expensive, they produce better devices.
in dealextreme there are a lot, and very cheap
Nexus 7 is a really good deal. Or Nexus 10.

I looking to get a new android tablet that will last me a while but am not too sure what to choose. I really like the Asus Transformer TF300T-A1 and am thinking about getting it. I like the laptop look and feel of it. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I am looking to spend between 350$ and 400, maybe 500$

I own a Nexus 7;
Nexus 7 if you on budget and 7 inch is enough, otherwise definitely Nexus 10 depending on your needs.
Nexus 10 has nice beefy specs i can't wait till that resolution becomes more mainstream on everything hehe
