First I have to say thank you to all the developers for making many great ROM. Second, I am not good with android .
I just upgrade to hellfire sandwich and seem like whenever i choose using"internal storage" the phone will auto gray out the external SD card (8gb). When i uncheck that option, i can use the external SD card again. But I want to use the left over internal storage 5gb too... not just 1.5gb internal storage.
Is there someway to re-partition the internal storage together? or allow the phone to recognize all the partitions?
Another question is I cannot use USB mass storage anymore, that option is grayed out too, And the only option is MTP which work really slow but a bit better than PTP. I need some help because Android commander cant recognize the device and the transfer sped is pretty slow.
You should be able to access the internal storage by navigating in the file explorer of your choice to the mnt/emmc/ directory. As for the mass storagw, I don't know the answer, but I had that problem too while I was on ICS.
The best option I have found is to use cwm to add and remove things through storage. It works all the time. Since on 2.3.3 mounts where sketchy and I've never been a fan of mtp on ics this is what I've always done.
Your transfer rates are due to your SD card class. The higher the class the higher the read/write speeds.
Ics went to using mtp and ptp instead of USB mass storage. Except there's a few roms that have hacked ums in and got it to work or claim too.

Yes i can do that too, so there is no way to allow the phone using both... I want to let the phone install apps to internal, and use external as media storage.

Thank you, because i saw the option there so i just wonder if there is a way to enable it... but if it not supposed to be there then there is no help.
If you go to ../etc/ using a file explorer, you may edit vold.fstab using a text editor and change manually your SD cards mount points (dev_mount emmc "folder location" for internal SD and dev_mount sdcard "folder location" for external SD)

Ok, well in your SD Card you shoud see either _Internal SD or _External SD when you go into CWM, installing a rom partitions you SD card normally using EXT4. You can navigate to both through mnt in file manager. Normally it'll load into external. You can go back to mnt and go into internal through there. Now, you may have to unmount and remount so you have access to it. If your using hellfire 1.7 you need the updated harsh kernel to access USB storage. In 1.6, however, you shouldn't have that problem.
Hey guys.
I realize the SIMPLE answer here is probably no, but I'm in dire straits here.
I don't know how, but somehow, my xoom deleted all of my photos, now I honestly don't know if it was on my external sd or internal storage things got messed up, but I'm currently running a full deep recovery on my sd card to check there.
I'd also love to be able to do the same with the internal storage. Since they took away the USB mass storage thing, this seems 'improbable'. But I really need some of the wise wizards in here to tell me if there's ANY way - maybe an old kernel? maybe there's a way to do it with linux!? If anyone could help me, I'd let you name my first-born child
you should be able to see both the SD card and the internal card mounted when you plug in the USB cable, make sure you have the correct USB driver. Hope this helps..
yeah, the MTP protocol allows me to see it, no problems. But it needs to be mounted as mass storage device for data recovery tools to be able to get to work on it, since MTP doesn't give access to the actual file-system.
Hello, I am using galaxy R and I installed ClockWorkMod recovery v4.0.0.2. Then I took 2 backups one after another, and now I want to delete them, because the USB storage is 3.71 GB/3.75 GB. However, I am unable to find the backup files. I have installed CWM app too but it also does not show any app. I went to similar threads and opened /data/ path from ES file explorer with root access, but 'clockworkmod' directory was absent there. Also, /sdcard/clockworkmod directory does not contain backup directory. I am worried as my storage space is almost filled and I am unable to open gallery and music player...
please help...i rooted my cell today only and have got messed up
Can you connect your phone to your computer? I suggest you connect it via usb and once both drives are displayed in your computer you should be able to find the clockworkmod folder in either of the 2 drives mounted on your computer i.e. Internal SD and external SD

in the internal memory, clockworkmod folder has only two files, .nomedia and .settings.. nothing else...
external SD does not have clockworkmod folder...
Do what vbz has suggested. U'll find backups inside the /sdcard/clockworkmod folder when connected to the pc. And remember to always do the backup by first manually booting into recovery to avoid this problem.
sdcard = internal sdcard(usb storage)
Thnx!

thnx!
should I flash CWM again and then I'l be able to see them?? what to do...I am confused! There is no backup directory in /sdcard/clockworkmod...
have u swapped internal and external sd?
Tell me have u enabled usb debugging?

Yes I have enabled USB debugging...
Sorry, what does swapped mean? I just have flashed ARDATDAT kernel for root access and installed clockworkmod in my cell...
should I reinstall clockworkmod in order to see the backup files? I can't find the backup folder anywhere... I realised I am running low on memory when I was taking backup with titanium backup and it showed an error of low memory and exited...
Ok let me break this down for u. When u connect the phone to the PC in usb mass storage mode, how many drives do u see? Ideally there should be 2 drives. 1 for /sdacrd ie internal sdcard or usb storage and 1 for /sdcard/external_sd ie ur memory card or external sdcard. In windows explorer choose to show hidden files. Now go inside Internal sdcard drive, u'll see the clockworkmod folder there, just delete whatever is there inside it. This should solve ur problem. Also check if the backup is there in the external sd/clockworkmod folder.
Tell me how it goes.
Thnx!

woah! 2.66GB/3.75 GB now! There wasn't backup folder in /sdcard/clockworkmod, still I did 'show hidden files and folders', It dint make any difference, I selected the 2 files inside the folder as you said and deleted them. Their combined size was just around 1KB, still memory got freed!
BUT,
I still can see the 2 backups listed when booted from in the CWM Recovery! Meanwhile, I also uninstalled Asphalt 6 adrenaline...so maybe that is what has freed around 600 MBs...so I think backups are still there...even I got some memory free, would love to find the two backup files and delete them.
I have not swapped the storages, clockworkmod folder is there in my internal storage..
No issues bro. Good that u sorted out the matter. From now on, don't use CWM app for backup. Rather just directly boot into the recovery and choose backup there. This way ur backups will be stored in /sdcard/external_sd/clockworkmod/backup.
Hope this helps.
thnx!

How come I am not seeing two drives in Window Explorer? All I see is "Tablet" with no ClockWorkMod folder. Any idea what is going on? Thanks.

Have you enabled Mass Storage mode?
if not then enable it. MTP mode wont show ClockWorkMod folder.
also post picture of what you see, doing so makes it clear to understand problem.

I would post a picture but I haven't earned the privileges yet... lol. When I connect my tablet and go into the USB Settings there are only options for MTP and PTP. Any good reason why I can't select Mass Storage mode? Is there any way to get around it?

there are several ways of sharing a picture in which you dont need privileges, like you can upload it to dropbox or cloud and share link to that picture.
anyways it seems that your existing Rom/Tablet doesnt support mass storage mode. if so, you cannot enable mass storage. you can use explorer app to deal with clockworkmod folder.
also people from this forum could help you out if you are having Galaxy R. Since you are having a Tablet, you should ask in appropriate forum.
Sorry for the title but I didnt know how could I describe it more precisely.
Problem is. I rooted gf`s htc explorer and I didnt have sd adapter so I tried to format micro sd via minitool partition wizard while it was inside phone connected via usb to pc.
After that I lost possibility to change usb mode from charging to file transfer since my card doesnt show up on pc/mobile/cwm anymore. EXCEPT "mount usb storage" in cwm. With that I see the card in pc, I can reformat it or transfer files. But I cant use it its not visible at all..only in that cwm mount usb storage.
I was browsing web/xda for like 2 hours and im quite desperate.
Any help how to make it visible again?
Its only unlocked-rooted-stock..was preparing it for link2sd.
thank a lot for a help
Hello.
Longtime 1+1 user here, I decided to buy me a new phone.
While organizing files to copy on my new phone, I accidentally deleted /sdcard. I'm no noob, but while browsing my internal storage on Windows, I saw amongst my know folders a folder called /sdcard, which would mean its path would be /sdcard/sdcard, so I thought I should delete it, since it didn't have anything inside. The thing is it was actually my /sdcard.
So everything is gone.
Now, multiple recovery software I've tried are able to find my files, but without their original path.
What I'd like to do is use Recuva to do it. In order to do that, I have to make a copy of my /data partition to my computer. All the ways I found tell you to make a copy to your /sdcard or external card. Since the file is large (~54GB), it can't be done on internal storage. But how can I do that in my phone since it doesn't have an external card?
Any ideas?
Look there https://stackoverflow.com/questions/26967862/how-to-make-an-image-of-android-partition-to-your-pc , I hope it'll help you!
Alternatively, you can use large (64Gb+) USB stick with an OTG cable and store your dump on it
