Hello to all .
This is my first post here , I've been on xda for a while ,See whats going on here .Support For Pantech Sky Phones is not open, just a few threads.
I Got a Sky Vega Racer A760S (a great dual-core 1.5Ghz Phone by the way) and needed to root it and install recovery on it . Searched here in xda for post for that kind of phone , found some ways to root+recovery it successfully, but the problem was that after that find out wi-fi and sound where completely gone . I got mad of that . Then self-upgraded it in sky vega site. I needed to root it , so i searched on some Vietnamese developers site some easy steps that i wanted to share to all that have this kind of superphone .
ROOT
1.Download from the link Root & Recovery.rar mediafire. co m/?h7rka238l2r21lb
2.Download drivers+insall them ( . mediafire . com/?zp1gvl3qhefzhsr
3.Need to put phone into USB DEBUGGING . (go to settings -Developer options-usb debugging need to be checked)
4.No Need to put phone into fastboot.
5.now open Root.bat follow the steps(just pres any key) ( phone will restart dont worry )
6.if you see superuser on your phone your done .
Recovery
STEPS 1-2-3-4 are done .
5.open Normal Recovery - ADB.bat for normal recovery Or Touch Recovery - ADB.bat for touch recovery .
6.follow the steps (just pres enter when needed)
7.when all finish , turn off your phone - hold pressed volume down + search button then turn on tour phone . if you see the cwm recovery your done )

By the way, in any case.. do you know what CUSTOM ROMs can we flash on our A760 devices? Need to remove the korean keybaord switching its annoying and the 80 character sms limit, Im running on Official ICS 4.0.4 v2.21
no need to change the rom. the original is a good rom. for sms limit download from playstore a app.I use sms pro, is good easy and compactible. for the korean keybord I will find out a way and then tell

Hmmm I'm thinking of the added korean bloatware, thinking bout MIUI for it .... Im using Go SMS too but it has bugs when using , messages more than 160 chars I think will be missing to the recipient. That's why Im thinking bout having it custom ROMed... If only we have info bout this and XDA has support Thank you very much sir! Tell us here for any updates. Chao!
And BTW, bout the CWM , replacing the stock recovery with it shouldn't hurt my device also even if Im running on Official ICS 4.0.4 with S/W from sky v2.21 sir?

no it only help your phone , do a full backup , to be sure and go one with trying new roms

i wrongly flash a boot.img for ICS, while i was using gingerbread on my sky im-760s. now when i power on my mob i see sky vega icon and then a dim light illuminated blank LCD only ...
i can access CWM although v6.0 and i have 1 custom ROM on my internal sd but when i choose install zip from sd card i don't see the .zip file .
futher i cant access my internal SD via CWM with error "ums lunfile"...
now help me out guys to give life again to my sky im-760s ...

Download a custom rom that fixes the issue, 1 google search would give you this. So much for trying all methods. Search search search, then ask.

I have rooted and flash CWM in A760 (ICS 4.0.4) phone successfully. My phone can be booted into CWM by pressing Vol down+search+Power button. Now I want to make system backup with CWM, but there is NO option available for making backup in CWM menu screen. Only these option can be seen,
reboot system now
apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
enable ums
wipe internal sd card partition
Initilalize sd card partition
apply update from cache
So please tell me how can I make my system backup with CWM?

I just bought an Chinese Android Phone Hero H6. I guess it's the cheapest Android Phone available (it sells for like US$120) and it has a MTK6516 chip.
I could root it using Universal Androot, but I'd like to take it to the next step:
use apps2sd or maybe update it to Froyo (I don't know if it's possible since it appears to have only 128MB RAM).
To install apps2sd I'd have to update the recovery, right?
Does anyone here has the same device so we can try to make it happen?
I'd be very grateful!

I Wont Lie To You, I'm Not Really Familiar With The Chinese Version, But I Do Have The Cdma Hero!!
You Should Be Able To Do The Same Thing As Me!! Don't See Why Not??
Try *Z4Root* For "Root", & Install
*Rom Manager* For "Recovery"
Also There's A App Called *Install- Manager* That Will Allow You To Move Apps From Phone Without Partitioning Your Sdcard!!

Go To My Posts! I Think I Posted A App Called "Z4Root"?
Anyway, Use That To Root Your Phone (May Take A Few Tries)
But Definitely Works!!!
Then Depending If You Have S-on You May Have To Download "Unrevoked-Forever" From The Unrevoked.com Website.
Next You Can Go To The Market & Install "ROM Manager" Open That App, Select Flash Recovery, Confirm, Then Go To Install From SdCard.
Select The Unrevoked-Forever Zip, (Make Sure It's Put On The Main Directory Of Your SdCard)
Next I Believe It Will Bring You To Your New Recovery Screen!!
*Note* Recovery Menu Can Be Accessed By Powering Off, Then Powering Back On While Holding Volume Down, Once The Phones On Press The Home Button To Get Into Recovery!

I just bought an chinese dual sim with Android, named H2000 . It use MTK 6515 processor and I have a little problem with it after few hoours of using : The PC cannot recognise the device anymore when I connect it to USB port.
At the first time it use to pop up a menu asking me what to do when I connect USB cable to PC , but now it happens nothing and the USB SETTINGS option from menu is gone too .
I don't know what to do ...
Could somebody help ?

I am looking for a recovery.img for my H6 (mtk6516) which gives me the 'update.zip' option when I start the phone in recovery mode. My recovery just shows a triangle with exclamation mark, no options. or am i doing something wrong? Can anyone post a recovery.img?

here is the recovery for the h6.
i flashed it using the serial cable, but i am sure you can flash it using adb

So I tried fat_fats recovery.img for the H6, thanks again for the file.
it didn't work though. my screen just flashes in bright light and then the device reboots normally. i do have another revovery that gives me just an exclamation mark and no update.zip option. is there any other way or another recovery.img around to update the h6 from 2.1 to 2.2? any ideas? thanks!

does your phone have 2 sim cards readers? you might have to life the black sticker under the battery.
the recovery i have, i flashed using a serial/usb cable.
i have the schamatics to build the cable and the flashing utility. I can upload when i get to my computer if you would like!
thats how i was able to update my phone.
1. Need Root (unlockroot.com)
2. Download zip file in attachment (recovery_p698_by_snegovik.zip) and unpack on SD-card
You get 2 files and 1 folder on SD-card
3. Install GScript Lite
4. Open GcriptLite
5. Click on Menu button and then select “Add script”
6. Click on Load file and select the file “Recovery_by_Snegovik.sh”
7. Click on Save button. You may be asked for Superuser permissions, click on Allow.

tried to install p690 cm7 rom but it didnt boot.
so revert back to original p698 rom.
so next step to build cm7 rom for our device

Hi man, you need to extract the files from it on the root of your SD Card

It is working on my P698 too.
Two ways to get the Recovery:
First: Power off you device.
Home + Volume - + Power
Second: install apk - Boot Control Widget. You can click it into Recovery. It is easier than first method.

After installing the recovery, go to the recovery mode and select flash zip from sd card
select the file and perform the extraction
You are done!
Now switch off your phone and then press together vol dwn + menu + power button. You will see factory setting screen.
Select "clear flash" and restart your phone. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. DO NOT SKIP THIS PROCEDURE.
Tips:
1. Check your battery before performing this operation. The battery level should be more than 50% otherwise it will generate an error.
2. Check your SD card for free space. Keep atleast 500 MB free space.
3. Connect charger for best results.

no. it is android 2.2. the stock ROM (free from bloatwares).

I had installed the first modded recovery successfully.
But when I try to update with the custom zip file provided by you .with the option
flash zip from sd card .I got error as unable to open zip file even in after toggling the signature same error occurred.
Can you share the error? Could you locate the file on sd card?

No. It Isnt bricked. Wait for sometime. It takes longer than usual to boot for the first time.

thanks for the custom rom and recovery.
there are a few other apps that I would recommend.
Go Launcher Ex is also a very nice alternative for launcher pro and it supports gestures including user defined gesture.
Notification Launcher is a small app that places toggles on the notification area. I find it very handy.
ES File Explorer is another root enabled file manager.
Why Nimbuzz is not working. i install latest version but error comes "force close" and thereafter shuting nimbuzz app automatic..
Custom ROM not working
I flashed your custom rom. After i switched on my mi270. it is working still that red colour gif image comes and then again it comes to the droid image and keeps on going like this. Is my phone bricked?? or is there any solution to this?? reply soon

Your phone is not BRICKED!
switch off your phone and then press together vol dwn + menu + power button. You will see factory setting screen.
Select "clear flash" and restart your phone. It should work.
Post your comment if this works. You will help a lot of other members.

The truth is that I am a newby... I have only read about routing and custom roms. But I can't even start trying to root my device because I can't enter recovery mode... When I press Vol Up + Home + Power Button it takes snapshots of my screen... I have read other forums about our device but I found nothing else...

yes, you should start by rooting the cellphone. (but are you sure what rooting does and why to use it?)
hmm, your link is not what i had use, but if you are okay with it then go ahead.
about backup, find for CWM.zip, its a clockworkmod recovery skin. and you will find instructions in it. then you can backup/restore everything.
i suggest moving your backed up data to computer. then you can use ODIN too if you need...

i have given you a link that day.. or search google for rooting B5512, (wiping data is not at all necessary to root device)
and backup the data with the Clockwork mod recovery.. (google it, you will get many many info)
"Skin1980-GT-S5360+CWM" this is the file which u used.. let me check if i can upload..
i dont have enough posts i gues..

Hi thanks for the uploads but when loading the update.zip from the recovery utility, i get:
Code:
.zip
(Status 7)
Installation Aborted.
It did update succesfully though when i used this update.zip.
fyi i have the B5512 with PDA: B5512XXLF2 (i think Polish firmware)

Latest version is Android 2.3.6
Btw I would definitely recommend to install the custom kernel from Deadly: this thread

one more thing, anyone can help me?
I connect my phone to computer and it's shown as removable disc. But when i click on it, it show to insert card in the removable disc.

So, @smartxtreme, I can simply toggle the recovery mode and install the skin from zip, am I correct?

if you use the search function of the forum you can find 2 or 3 threads about Vodafone smart 2 and also the solution at your problem, the recovery cwm style, a custom rom, root methods... just search

Thanks for the reply mate, yeah I have seen the Greek guys YouTube video, he doesn't command the best English to be fair, and mentions that the phone wont act the same after root. some nice clear instructions from a English fella would be appreciated. It was easy rooting my previous 858 vodafone with superoneclick and it didn't act different when rooted afterwards. I may well wait until an easier, less risky way of rooting this phone has been found. strange how some of the smart 2s can't get recovery mode.

Thanks for the links...but they are of no help to me, I cannot get recovery in my phone...I have installed SDK adb...and cannot get the bloody thing to work with commands in CMD Prompt...(so that was a waste of time)....If i could just get in to recovery mode then i could root it easy!!...it's getting in to recovery mode thats the problem.
Anyone with simple instructions for me to get my phone in to recovery bearing in mind it will not enter in to it via the power/volume + technique ?

Use Uniflash 1.2 to go to recovery is very simple. After rename Recovery.zip to update.zip and install as update.

Right so no root is required to use this uniflash 1.2 right? and what recovery.zip?

Yes just open Uniflash after connect usb and click reboot Recovery. Change dhe name of recovery.zip before to update.zip

Where do I find the recovery.zip ? only I've looked in the SD card when the phone is connected to PC and it's not there!

It appears that I now have root, superuser is now present....Could you give me a list of the apps that I can safely uninstall on this phone and what is the best way to uninstall these pieces of Vodafone stock crud from my phone? tried with Titanium backup while rooted and it said it couldn't find the apk file to the app I was trying to uninstall.

You have a list of all apps that can delete in the same thread that u find recovery.zip I use Root Uninstaller free to delete app, after u fave to do a factory reset to see the free space after deleting, But u have to Root again by tha same way, becouse after Reset you will lost Root.

Just so you know, if you delete your stock camera app from this phone because like I found the shutter speed was slower than slow!!!...the BEST replacement that works like a charm on this phone is LG CAMERA PRO.."or the free one"....a beautiful camera that gives the best photo and video quality this phone has to offer...and I tried all the camera apps believe me...lol....
