A bit late for a response, but here you go:
Your phone needs to be rooted.
1. use Root Explorer to navigate to /system/usr/keylayout/mt6575-kpd.kl
2. press MOUNT R/W button
3. Use Text Editor and navigate to key 248 at bottom of list
4. Add space and WAKE after FUNC1 (ie: key 248 FUNC1 WAKE)
5. exit and save. Root Explorer will save backup
6. Reboot phone. When screen is asleep either front round button or power button will wake phone.

Hi,
Can you clarify 'works perfect' on the TG01 - I am using the (registered) Buttons Plus, but have only been able to get it to support a single alternative button press on the Camera, bottom 'Zoom' bar and right-hand 'OK' button.
Could you please share your settings which allow you to get it to work with multi-settings per button, and also specify buttons are you able to get it to work with ?
Would be really appreciated
Many thanks,

As known, TG01 don't have hardware buttons....so when I say "perfect" I mean as perfect as possible....
I don´t use camera button (I'm afraid camera could fail)
I'm using only volume buttons and the zoom bar.
Volume UP:
1. Single press: PageDn
2. Double press: PageUp
3. Triple press: Switch Display Off/On
Volume DOWN:
1. Single press: "Resco Audio Recorder -rec"
2. Double press: "Resco Audio Recorder -exit"
3. Triple press: Switch Display Off/On
Zoom bar: (Button #405C)
Alt+Tab (Change between opened apps)
How to map zoom bar:
a) Open AEBPlus (I have v2.6)
b) Tap Left softkey: File
c) Add button
d) Add Key (Touch the zoom bar: The program detects Key code 405C as Win Key)
e)Tap Add Key
You'll have a new button called Button #405C
Tap & Hold over the new line (Button #405C) and assign Alt+Tab to it
The program ask to self reset, say Yes and .... here you are!
some doubts
You seem knoweleagble: I would like to receive your suggestions
I onw two units of HD2, I am trying to understand how to use AE buttons, then I will surely buy it, but I have many doubts…
Questions:
1. Where can I find a complete tutorial?
2. Where can I find a help, to understand each functions? I mean, not FAQ, just a help file.
3. from AEBPlus Settings > add button > ONLY 2 hardware buttons can be captured (the one with white backspace arrow on it and the home with a home depicted on it)
the other 5 buttons cannot be sensed: I mean
- phone button: if pressed the phone canvas appear, the ADD KEY screen disappears and no key code appears
- same story for the phone-OFF button and for the volume up and volume down buttons.
4.
Since at least one button is recognized (the white backspace) I have set it to work as follows:
1st short press > open contacts
2nd key press > open excel
3rd key press > open opera
4th key press > calculator
But ONLY short press and long press do work! The other 2 cannot work (Therefore I cannot open excel and opera…)
Additionally: if I want to open CONTACTS, I just need to press short and CONTACTS application appears on my screen
If I want to use CALCULATOR > I need to press AND HOLD! If so CALCULATOR shows up. If I pull off my finger from the hardware button > calculator disappears and the home page comes back…
Please can you explain what I am doing wrong?
Thanks and waiting for any help and suggestions

Sorry Saulo, I have a TG01 , I don' know how this program works on HTC devices.....
If your button is broken, your button is broken. Sorry . Some people have had luck cleaning it with electrical cleaner but unfortunately I was not one of them. Eventually, you will probably want to send it in somewhere to get fixed (you need all three hardware buttons for various development functions). But if you are like me and you just need a temporary fix (I'm happy w/ my current rom and will be upgrading soon), then read on!
So what you are going to want to do is swap your power and volume up functions by remapping their respected buttons. Alternatively, you could swap your power and your volume down, but I think it's more important to be able to turn it down (plus you can still take screen shots in ICS).
Here's how you do it:
You will need a file explorer (and phone for that matter) with root access. ES File Explorer would be my personal recommendation. Make sure you have root access turned on in the settings
You will probably start in /sdcard/. Navigate up one folder then go to /system/usr/keylayout. Here you will find all the files that control your buttons
For the physical buttons, go to "aries-keypad.kl" and open as a text in a text editor that your file explorer hopefully came with (if you can't in yours, use ES File Explorer)
Write down or take a screen shot of what you see so you always have a reference of what it should look like and won't need to keep checking here key 114 = vol down, key 115 = vol up, & key 116 = pow
Cut and paste POWER WAKE to key 115 and VOLUME_UP WAKE to key 116
Hit back to leave and save the file when prompted
Reboot your phone. You'll probably need to pull the battery since your power button is toast
That should do it. Your volume up button should now control your power and your power button should now control your volume up. A couple (not so important) notes:
I think you can accomplish the same thing by switching the key numbers and leave the functions where they are, but can't be sure since I didn't try it
If your button is behaving erratic and going off without you pressing it, completely erase the key and it's function from the file. After I used an electric cleaner on the button this happened to me. I tried leaving the key in there and assigning it no function but my phone went bonkers.
I have no idea if the number of spaces between the various functions and WAKE are of any significance lol. I would guess not but I kept them the same to be safe.
Some people may want to assign the search button as volume up. I'm guessing you could do it the same way but again, I haven't tried. The file cypress-touchkey.kl also has softkey functions but I'm not sure if you would need to play around in that one instead or possibly do both. If anyone has had success with this please share!
After editing the aries file, I notice a duplicate in there after reboot that has the old setup. In the file explorer it has the same name, but upon opening it, I can see that it is a .bak file. I'm 99% sure this is a backup that ES File Explorer has made for idiots like me that shouldn't be playing around in these files and need to revert
OK that's it. Sorry this got so wordy. I hope this helps someone!

Ye, but Volume wake + SearchToPower mod solves the same issue. I like to use my Search button for long Power press to access Power menu - it is supercool!
Another way to survive without power button is to install Super Manager and enable the 'Sensor screen wake' function. Simply wave your hand in front of the sensor to wake device, add a shortcut to lock screen.

In case you are worried you might damage the power button on the top left side of the phone, and you just happen to have the Sim Switch button sitting there being useless and all, you can tweak it to function as the "Power Button"!
Things you need:
-Root Access, to use Root explorer
-Root explorer (for accessing the file that is responsible for the Sim Switch button
Step 1:
Open Root Explorer, and go to /system/usr/keylayout
Step 2:
Locate the file fih_gpio-keys.kl. Open this file in Text Editor
Step 3:
Look for key 81 DSDS_SWITCH
Step 4:
Replace the "DSDS_SWITCH" with "POWER WAKE".
Note* it should look something like this:
.............(Omitted)
key 164 MEDIA_PLAY_PAUSE
#key 80 VENDOR_1
key 81 POWER WAKE <-----------(You should have changed this line!)
#Numberic Keypad
key 522 STAR WAKE_DROPPED
...............(Omitted)
Step 5:
Save and reboot.
Now your Sim Switch button should be functioning like the power Button!
So, by doing this u can't switch anymore to sims if you have two. Any other way to set a button to use it as a wake as well as its own function? Or you can map one function at a time?
after doing this, SIM switch key acting as a Lock/unlock key and also as a power menu key. but power on not working
Hi,
Can anyone please help me with any MOD which will wake the device with Home Key button instead of Power Button?
I have got a thread which talks about the mod but I am not getting the file name mentioned in this thread.

Thanks
It's not a flashable file....
This is the trick:
It needs just a little tweak of the "/system/usr/keylayout/bravo-keypad.kl" file, adding the "WAKE_DROPPED" to the end of the line of some other key with which you want to be able to wake up your phone.
Pressing the MENU button now shows the lockscreen and doubletapping it unlocks the device.

I tried the twk in our device with the file mtk kpd.kl by adding WAKE aginst the home key but it is not working.
Usually, many of us aren't using the search capacitive key on our phone. So we'll change it's function in order to make it useful and to prevent early damage on our Power button.
Now, We will remap search button as the power button. But take note. It turn off screen, toggle power menu. But, cannot turn screen/phone on.
Here's the guide. This is very easy! Even Gradeschool students can do this.
I suggest to use RootExplorer app. It has built in Text editor.
- Go to /system/usr/keylayouts/Generic.kl (Some devices may be different)
- Open "Generic.kl" using text editor (Press & Hold choose Open with text editor)
- Find
Code:
key 217 SEARCH
and change it to:
Code:
key 217 POWER WAKE
-Save it
-Reboot and you're done
:good: :good:
