Android 4.2 - Asus Transformer TF700

Should we expect android 4.2 on the infinity?
Its expected to release at the press conference on 29th October
Sent from my GT-S5570 using xda app-developers app

It's a good bet we will get it eventually. The Prime was released with Honeycomb, but later got ICS and JellyBean.
The original Transformer isn't going to get any more updates after ICS though.

If we are supposed to get it, we'll get it early looking at asus previous record of updates

I suspect so.

Sorry but I find this a stupid topic. Android 4.2 hasn't even been announced yet, why ask? Everybody can only guess, hell maybe 4.2 is even months away who knows...

People were asking about Windows 8 before Vista was even officially announced. It's pretty normal.. And utterly pointless.

Mostly new nexus devices are released with new versions.
The LG nexus 4 is going to be releasing for sure.

Yeah, ASUS sends to be light years ahead of Samsung in this regard ( based on my experience with the epic 4g slider)
tapatalkin'

The last update really disappointed a lot of users.
So it's only human to hope for some kind of progressive fix.
Poor ASUS can't get somethings right so why expect some magic on the next incarnation.
I remember what we used to say about every new version Windows "plug and pray"

[Q] IceCream Sandwich for Nexus S

The ice cream sandwich will be launched first on nexus prime, we all know that. I want to know how long will it take before nexus s sees an ota update for ice cream sandwich too?
I remember it took quite a while for Nexus One owners to officially get Gingerbread. It was months, wasn't it? I may be mistaken.
I hope Ice Cream comes sooner for NS owners.

The reason for the massive delay was the immense number of bugs in GB upon its initial release (since it was pushed out before it was really ready).

We've already supposedly seem ICS leaks for the Nexus S already so I assume it isn't that far off. That's only if those leaks were legit though.
And seeing as the Nexus Prime will be truly different than the Nexus S, I'd assume the NS was used to test ICS against traditional form devices (phones with front buttons). When GB went to the Nexus One, I'd assume it had very little progress to begin with as the NS was practically the same phone meaning that they didn't need to test it on the Nexus One.

we did see gingerbread on the Nexus One well ahead of the actual launch [remember the lock screen animation leak? :http://phandroid.com/2010/10/21/gingerbreads-screen-off-animation-exclusive-video/]
so, even though we've seen a (supposedly) leaked version of ICS running on NS, it might still be a while before we get it on our pretty NexS-es
i'm in no hurry though ...
I remember reading somewhere that Nexus S will be the first phone to get ICS and Nexus Prime will be the first to be shipped with ICS.
I hope ICS will be released on the Nexus S when it's ready. I don't wanna see a disaster of an update like Gingerbread 2.3.6
I'm not impressed with Google at all when it comes to updates. They cause more harm than good!
So are we going to get a new thread of this same question every day until its released?????

i think it can be true
No way ICS will be released when they launch the Prime. It will be an exclusive on the Prime model for weeks, if not a month or so. This will force geeks who just can't wait to buy the Prime rather than settling and updating their NS.
It's all speculation at this point, but if I were to guess I'd say the NS will get it 1-2 months after release. That's all it is, though; a guess.
Prime will have it exclusively for a good few months if the past is any indicator of things to come
From what i understand, ICS is supposed to address to current fragmentation issues with Android, and hopfully unify all phones/tablets with one version.
Under this logic, it makes sense that they would push it out ASAP

trust me freind apple is NO better. 4.0 on 3g's anyone?
On release, I think one way or another it will be out sooner than later. Either it will be released rapidly or someone will rip it off the prime, realize it works already on the S and then put it up here rooted and with superuser..... YAY XDA!
A better q is how long after prime release does ics go to the aosp
So cm can port it to us
How long usually for new android versions to be open sourced

Google is withholding the update until people stop making threads asking when its coming, so apparently it will be out never.
When people actually search before posting the same topic at least once a day
Or when ppl like all of us stop bumping these topics

It just boggles my mind that someone buys a NEXUS device knowing (or at least I would assume/hope so) that Google will support the **** out of it (just like they did and to and extent still do for the N1). Why would you even remotely think that it wouldn't get the first real update available to it since it was released?
Relax buddy. google doesnt keep thier ears on waiting for our take on it.. They will do it when they need it.. i apparantly needed a new which would have leaked on the relase to Nexus s.. so keep your chin up and lets talk ICS

ICS event!

Idk if anyone's posted THIS yet but...supposadley ICS for the Nexus S will be revealed that day? Either that or maybe they'll unveil the Nexus Prime running ICS. The live stream will only (obviously) be there the day of (the 18th)...but for now, an awesome giant ICS-Android!
Most likely the nexus prime and ICS.

Could someone explain to me, why the next nexus comes from Samsung? I thought Google wanted to change the producer for the nexus every year.
I as I'm sure all of u would love to ics sooner rather than later. I can't help but think about how Apple handles their updates though. The 4S released today running ios5. However ios5 was available Wednesday, two days before the 4S was launched. For me, if this was going to happen with Android and ics I would be over the moon! It's unlikely but hey, we can live in hope eh?

[Q] When is 4.1 jelly bean being released?

You knew this question was going to come. Now that 4.1 has been announced, when are we getting ours?
This will take a longer time for sure, as HTC is still busy to release ICS
Jellybean dev kits are supposed to be released mid july. At least that's what this source says: http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012/06/27/google-announces-android-41-jelly-bean/
But it may be a while before we get a working ROM.
Given the time it took the CM team to release CM9 RC1, I'd say 6 months!
what about this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736699
Brace yourself for a long wait
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
While ICS is quite nice, it is hard not to want the latest, greatest thing on our devices Still, at least the Nexus 7 is available to fulfil the JB goodness until it's available. That may end up replacing my Nook Color which hasn't been used in a month since it's ac adapter gave up the ghost.
HTC says they "don't yet have an announcement" for Jelly Bean on existing devices.
... I can't post a link because <10 posts, but there is an article on pocket-lint.com
That will only lead to an anemic SDK ROM. sure it will show us the cool new features, but I wouldn't expect much. I wonder how long it takes to hit AOSP

Q1 or Q2 next year would be my guess

Since i'm assuming jellybean isn't as big of a change internally as ICS was from gingerbread it'll be a shorter wait. Still I wouldn't expect anything shorter than like Oct of this year.

Actually most of the changes are internal. I think project butter is a big internal change. Although the One S is already very smooth, squeezing more performance out of the S4 is a welcomed thing

Google doesn't care
I remember reading recently that Google knows about fragmentation but isn't worried about it. Now that I'm tempted to buy a media device to have the latest and greatest software, I can see how fragmentation can actually work for Google because now more and more people will look to buy nexus devices.
the main reason i got a HTC phone is because unlike Samsung's strange choice in hardware it dosnt take 5 months to port a fast stable release from the MOD team unlike HTC
lets hope this takes off !
the one X got already a port

I read this on a thread here somewhere, a guy had spoken to a friend who worked for HTC and he said that they would not be releasing ICS for the shift. Based on this, I think its pretty safe to say that HTC will not be rolling out a JB update, sad as it is. Your best bet is to root and flash a custom JB rom, several of which you can find over in the development forums

I was in my local BestBuy and surprised to see this phone still available for purchase. I would expect HTC to be planning an update to at least ICS since they are still selling these phones.
Gingerbread was good when this phone came out two years ago, but way out dated now to expect customers will be happy with it starting a new two year contract.

Yeah my HTC MyTouch 4G Slide is still on GB and will never see official ICS, but thanks to everyone on xda I've ported 3 JellyBean ROMS for it.
Since leaving the Shift I've moved from Sense to AOSP and wouldn't have it any other way.

Since offically, HTC says the our shifts have reached EOL, don't expect many updates from them at all. And besides, we actually have an amazing 4.x community on the shift. I mean, we aren't the SIII or anything, but there are a handful of ICS and JB roms. Pick one and flash it, then you could just act like the phone came that way
