Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app

Remount /system r/w -- # mount -o remount,rw
Copy the boot animation into position -- # cp path/to/new/bootanimation.zip /system/media/
Set ownership -- # busybox chown root:root /system/media/bootanimation.zip
Set permissions -- # busybox chmod 644 /system/media/bootanimation.zip

is this a file manager?

The easiest way is to download boot animations from the market. Super easy and the app installs the boot animations. No need for messing with files

And yes...it will work....delete PowerOn.wav....replace with your wav file(and it has to be a wav file) and rename it PowerOn.wav....spelled exactly like that....

If i'm putting it in they righty directory then why wouldn't it be working, could it be a specific coding in the format of the audio file?

Updater script to delete

Is there code to delete a file through flashing? Via the updater script

Yes. Similar to telling it to extract a directory and were to put it, you just need to put delete ("what you want to delete ")
Go here to get an idea of what I am saying
