Do you guys use screen protector? If so, which one? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been rocking this screen protector (forgot the name) and I don't like the fact that it doesn't feel smooth and such, but I still use them because of the protection
I wanna know if you guys use it or not and why. Also if you guys do use it, which one? Thanks

Nope, because I handle the Tablet carefully and little scratches illustrate all the days the device was on my side.
Only reason for me to use one would be the anti reflective surface. Is it good for that purpose?

Mine does opposite of that
Swyped on my Galaxy Nexus running AOKP with Franco Kernel

I use the Ghost Armor simply for the fact that I let my little brothers play with it now and then. not only that but the keyboard dock could leave marks at times on it. good thing for the skin!

Mine came with one and I took it off. I don't like the feel of one and it just seems like the screen doesn't have as much "pop" to it with one on. They were so needed in the past, but now with gorilla glass and such, they are much more resistant to scratching IMO.

[Q] Sprint Screen Protectors

Anyone else using the sprint screen protectors for their epic? I just bought a pack and I'm really disappointed with them. They are just big enough to cover the screen it self. So there is no margin for error when putting them on. Also I think they are supposed to be anti-glare so make the beautiful screen of my epic hazy and almost pixelated. Any suggestions for decent clear screen protectors?
Does the epic really need a screen protector? I thought the screen was made from some super durable stuff?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
i know i made the sprint people put one on
i can take the hazyness until i get my skinomi
i recommend skinomi
Its still plastic and there are a lot of things that can scratch plastic.

I'll give skinomi a try. Thanks.

I took mine back for a refund. They just cost too much and made the screen feel unatural. They let me keep the one I had installed already until my new protectors came.

People have been saying that the skinomi ones are too long I think... I'd recommend the phantom skinz one since I've had no problem, they have a cut out for the sensors and camera (which the skinomi does not have) and they have a lifetime guarantee.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
this is the one im talking bout i ordered one it has lifetime replacements and openings for the sensors and cam it is awesome on the htc hero so i hope it continues
Well, all I know is that at least the first batch of Skinomis didn't turn out so well. See this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=746037
Too long, but possibly good customer service? And like I said, no cutouts for the lights/sensor/camera. Skinomi has gotten plenty of good reviews for other phones, but for some reason the ones for the Epic haven't been well received.

The Sprint ones are total crap. Took mine back a few hours after I bought them.
yes they are but fools wont take it back cuz i used one

I suppose the people with scratches on their glass already would disagree.
I work in dusty, dirty environments. Any phone of mine is getting protection.

Yup! I am no doubt in the minority but I have managed to scratch my screen. It was in strange circumstances having to do with hiking on a trail (and I hardly ever hike, less have my phone out...) but scratchedy it went. No 20ft heights or bouncing. Just fell face down from my pocket on a dirt path with a pebble somewhere in there. They're not invincible, people.
lol unless ur doing stuff like that you dont need a protector
under normal use pocket car table things like that no but if ur roughing it why not protect it and get a skinomi

Scratched mine easily... I have 2g steel plugs on my lobes, and the first time i heard them click against the screen I knew I'd have a problem. sure enough, there are tiny scratches from where my ear hit the screen. My fault for not putting a protector on sooner.
Also managed to put a little hairline scratch down by the menu button, but i have no clue how i did that.

Scratch :(

Iv made extra sure to keep it safe and iv not been using screen protector as I find them annoying. Today I realized I had 2 tiny little scratches in my beloved screen. Anyone know and ideas how I could possibly remove them?

On another note do you think getting a screen protectors now could help make it less noticeable, maybe the sticky could fill it in.

ClearTouch Crystal at BoxWave.com Make SUPER Clear Screen Protectors. They Arent very noticable and they say they are 99% Clear. Hard to tell you have one on. Reviews seem good too. just google it. likes 12$ a Protector, maybe cheaper if you find some kind of discount code.
a "fix" for scratches
I suggest you grab the zagg screen protector. it should make the scratches invisible. they are totally awesome for protecting the screen. I took a fork to my wifes blackberry as a show, and thought i had went to far when I heard a "screech," but after pulling off the protector the screen was flawless. It also doesnt use "sticky stuff" so when you pull it off "i used mine on my blackberry for 2 years" the screen is clean and not sticky.
The only con is the price, $20, but i love my bolt like a newborn, its totaly worth it to me.

I honestly would not try this on my phone, I would rather live with the scratches, but if you want to try something I would recommend mr clean magic eraser which is basically wettable micro sand paper. This could possibly damage your touchscreen functionality though, I have no idea. I have no clue what else you'd possibly try.

id recommend trying a screen protector though, instead, of course.

I might be looking into a screen protector as well. I went a year and a half without one on my Eris, and didn't get a single scratch on the screen. I've had the Thunderbolt a week, and I just yesterday noticed two damn scratches on the screen. No clue how they even got there, I've been super careful with the damn phone!
I've read lots of mixed reviews about Zagg screens. I looked up reviews on that CrystalTouch screen though, and could only find positives. I think I'll try that one.
I thought I had a scratch on mine, but it went away after some gentle buffing of the screen with a cloth.
I haven't used it, but I've seen some tv adverts for some liquid eye-glass cleaner that supposedly fills in scratches. I'd meant to grab some a few years ago to see if it would fill in a scratch on my iPhone, but I don't have that one any more, so no way to test it out personally. I don't remember the name, but Google should find it for you.

There is something about the Thunderbolt screen that makes it feel scratch-able; I'm running it naked for now, and no scratches, but I'm a bit nervous about it.
I used the Zagg on my original iPhone. I don't think anything will protect it better, but some people have a tough time getting past the "orange peel" feel to it. I got used to it quickly, though.
I know how you feel, I found a a tiny scratch on mine this week too. I got the Zagg screen protector to cover it, but honestly, I hated it so i took it off...I missed the shine and bare feeling of the screen.. I used some toothpaste with whitening with a cue tip and it sort of made it better.. I'm kind of over it after rooting my phone and tweaking it, just try to enjoy it...my .2 cents.
I went to the mall and there was a Zagg stand. I asked how much and they told me $30. Wow. For a piece of plastic. I dont care how good it is. I went to the verizon kiosk and picked up a screen protector pack for $3. It kinda helped but i can still see it. :\

[Q] Dock and Screen Scratches

So I just picked up the dock today and so far I am having no issues.
I'm wondering if there are other folks who are using the dock without a screen protector and whether or not they are getting any scratches on the screen.
In fact I'd be curious to know if in general anyone is having an issue with scratches on their screen for any reason.
Thanks
Don't have mine yet but the gorilla glass should hold up pretty well. If you Google "scratched iPad glass" you'll find plenty of people have managed to get a ding on theirs eventually though. As a rule I try to keep something between any screen and keyboard I own just because it seems like a pretty small effort to put into keeping it looking nice. A piece of thin black felt cut to about the size of the keyboard kept in the slip case probably would keep it happy for years and makes a handy fingerprint wiper when needed. Just my 2 cents.
the dock is actually padded to make sure you don't scratch the tablet.
I have the dock and have no issues with scratches, etc. There is in fact rubber stoppers on the sides and front to keep that from happening. Also, we have Gorilla Glass folks!
btw, I wish the XDA app told us more details about posters, as in the website. And a Thanks Button. Maybe a Honeycomb optimized app perhaps?!

i have the current oem ones from htc got it from expansys i might try the reelook ones on amazon for only 10 bucs
I use Zagg invisishield because when you put them on correctly (a lot of people claim to get the this bit right and don't) they are simply the best there is, no scratches at all, it's stuck in place and it looks great, it's good at keeping fingerprints away too, no gloss just an almost rubbery texture which does a good job of hiding any imperfections on the screen if you have any.
They are the best as in terms of robust strength, ppl will say they're not but they are, the only thing your left deciding is what feel you want, the Zagg's have a rubbery texture like i said whereas the others like griffin and rocket fish have sometimes mirror effect, tinted effect (so it can only be viewed from the front)
Some with a Matt effect.
Theres loads to choose from but it's all down to preference.
As for the case you've picked, yea it's nice
All you need is your screen protector now, the ones you chose will do the job, but they're a pain to fit and are most prone to peel and scratch.
I got this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-X-SCRE...ting_LaptopAccessories_RL&hash=item2a11c88cc4
It works really well. You just need to apply it in a room with little dust as possible. You just drop it on the phone. It will suck itself on the phone and than you take qtip and get all the air out. Got mine perfectly that people don't even see that it's on
But I still like the screen better without the protection. It feels smooth but not the same

Ghost armour is wayyyyyy better than zagg, looks better, feels better, doesn't smudge like zagg does. Have zagg on my transformer and attracts fingerprints and smudged like crazy, the ghost armour on my nexus s hardly gets any finger prints and rare smudge, can't wait to get to the mall to get a ghost armour installed on my sensation, p.s girlfriends zagg on dhd looks like crap after same time as the nexus s ghost armour looks prestine

I tried Zagg on my Vibrant and even my iPad. The texture and feel is annoying if you like the smooth feel of glass. What I look for in a screen protector is total invisibility (as in you don't know it is there) and the Zagg doesn't handle that.
The final straw for me was when I noticed vertical lines that showed up like a rainbow when the screen was on. I did some research and found that I was far from alone with my problem (yes I put it on perfectly) and got a replacement. That one had a similar problem so I trashed it and Zagg. I still have the one on my iPad (though it has a couple of the lines as well) but I will not buy Zagg again.
As for protectors like the ones discussed in this thread being prone to peel and scratch... Wrong. I put a Realook ( my Vibrant and it still looks new (meaning it looks like glass) after some relatively heavy use being in pockets with keys and pocket knives as well as more than a few drops. I passed the phone on to my wife who's purse is a phone scratching machine and even she hasn't damaged the screen protector. If she does somehow scratch it I have a couple of spares (I think that one game with three).
I just put the screen protector that is being discussed in another thread (says 'the best so far' in the title) on my Vibrant and it is perfect. Unless I tell you that it is there you wouldn't know that I have a screen protector on my phone. The fact that they are crystal clear, feel like bare glass, and end up costing less than $1 each makes this a no-brainer. I can buy 20 of these for the cost of one Zagg AND it is a superior product.

Several posters, including me, have had problems with corner bubbles with that SP on the Sensation. May work fine on the Vibrant, like the Realook, but the curved screen on the Sensation can be problematic. Not quite a no-brainer.

I have one on my Sensation right now. I would take pictures but it looks like a naked phone and you wouldn't see it.
I don't know what I did differently but I have no bubbles on the corners. I basically just did a 'peel and stick' install and didn't use a hair dryer and all of that stuff. Maybe I just got lucky.

Understand. Appears to be a crap shoot. Mine also had pits and dings in the surface, which would have made it unacceptable even if the bubbles weren't there. I tried everything but a blowtorch to fix it, and no dice. Moving on to wet SP's, which so far have their own issues. Dang curved glass...
Does this cover the whole glass? I mean some screen protector only covers the flat surface of the screen, does this one covers even the beveled edges of the screen?

I just ordered one of these screen protector but I haven't put it on my phone the only thing I noticed is that the screen protector has a semi round cut out on the top or bottom of the film, its like its been cut to avoid something like a lenses of accelerometer but sensations camera lens is connected on the back cover not the screen. But the protector is.cut perfectly for the sensations screen its just that semi round cut out that intrigues me. Or maybe the guy sent me the wrong protector.

I just got the same protectors and posted in the other thread. They are great in my opinion. Way better than the rubber kind.
To answer your question, the cut-out is for a light sensor under the glass. Yes, it is there, but nearly invisible. Shine a bright light at the screen and you'll see it.

Which screen protector is most invisible?

I need some advice from those that have a lot of experience with screen protectors...
I had an HTC Thunderbolt phone and when I was at the mall one day I had a screen protector installed at one of those carts/kiosks that is no longer in business. I don't know what brand it was but I really liked the fact that I could barely tell that I had one on the phone.
When I got a new phone I had Zagg install a sceen protector on it, thinking that I would like it because it was Zagg and they are so popular. Well I really hate the way it kind of has an orange peel appearance and it seems to always look dirty/smudged even after cleaning. I think the display looked a lot better without the Zagg screen protector. Maybe they have more than one type of screen protector at Zagg and I just need to choose a different type...
Anyway, with that said, I want a screen protector for my Infinity that will protect it from scratches but I don't care about glare reduction etc. My preference it to not be able to tell I have a screen protector on my Infinity. (I really prefer not to have one at all, but I worry about scratching it even with gorilla glass). Of course I want it to fit properly and not lift off/peel, etc, and I don't mind spending a little more to get a good quality product.
So all you screen protector experts, which one would you recommend???
Thanks in advance for your help!

I actually bought one for the 300. Fits great. You would need to see the edge of the screen to actually tell its on there. Yes, at least for this brand. I have no issues and the dock cutout is perfect. No issues docking mine. If not cutout for the dock they can peel or not dock properly. I was very impressed with it. This is 10 times better than any zag. The coolest factor was the way the film released the air bubbles. I figured i would end up tearing it off, but i have absolutely NO bubbles after a few days! Still as with any protector the screen must be lint free. I now know exactly what i will be buying for future devices. Give it a try.

Pick one up. They're not cheap ($25). Take your time, make sure the screen is clean, and give it some time for the bubbles to release. Google wrapsol. I found a few reviews helpful with pics. Good luck.
I bought wrapsol tf300 screen protector from office depot, but I'm confused on the fit! I have not installed it yet but from what I see the screen protector will cover the camera but not the light sensor is this correct or I'm I seeing it wrong. If so does the screen protector effect the camera by covering it?

No, you need to turn it over. Your looking at the wrong side. The hole is for the camera. The light sensor is covered, but I have not had any issues with it. There is a protective layer that you will peel off once you have applied the protector as well. I have had mine on for about two weeks and I am very pleased. Make sure the screen is lint free and use the card board piece to help apply and then be patient on the bubbles to disappear. Every bubble I had disappeared, and my screen was full of them. Be easy when you tear the tabs off the protector and removing the finishing layer.
That's weird because I do see the layer I'm suppose to Take off it says to take that's layer off first b 4 installing. But when I take it off its sticky and if i install it sticky side down it covers the Camera. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Still doesn't sound like you're using the proper side. The camera hole is on the right side facing you.

That is not to say the TF300 protector does not fit, I'm just conveying what they said. Do you guys see anywhere that the TF300 protector does not quite fit?

I honestly don't know what they could change. I guess they could cut a hole for the light sensor, but i have no issues with it. I promise mine is a perfect fit with or without the dock. The bubbles take time, but they all clear up. Warm sunlight seemed to help as well. I won't be taking this one off period.
