Navigation problem 4.1.2 - Samsung Infuse 4G

So, after keeping the GPS on for more than 24 hours, the icon still blinks on the task bar saying "searching for GPS" despite showing my accurate location on the map. I am puzzled by this. On the map, say for the directions from Point A to Point B, I can see the directions in the list format, but the voice nav doesn't work.
So,...navigation doesn't work, but the GPS technically does (and yet, it is "searching")??

You aren't indoors are you?

I also have the same problem, navigation doesn't work outdoors and on the highway, it stoped working soon after the 4.1.2 update

Instant GPS Lock, Maps show wrong location, Navigation takes 10mins to find GPS??

Hey.
Instant GPS Lock, Maps show wrong location, Navigation takes 10mins to find GPS??
So my GPS connects instantly using GPS Test APP. But on Maps it shows me as wrong location so I cannot use that to navigate.
Navigation on the other hand, GPS works perfectly, but it takes 10mins for the navigation to start and it to find GPS.
Is it because Navigation is trying to download maps, and my data connection being slow?
I am on stock no custom rom.
Please let me know how to fix this.
Thanks.
Green bars don't mean you're locked in on this phone. You get a lock when you have an Accuracy reading or a green circle with GPS Test app. In GPS Status app, it's the Lat/Long/Altitude/Last Fix ect...when locked. You probably have bad GPS. Mine connects in around 2-3 minutes.
My GPS connects in like 10 seconds max. Maybe you have a bad GPS.
Is there a recommended app for calibration or testing?

[Q] Evo Shift GPS problems thread

GPS sucks and I think it's my phone.. GPS won't stay awake and keep the lock, needs wifi assistance and loses the lock as well. Google Maps navigation has been a nightmare.. dropped my phone too many times maybe?
With wifi assistance off:
GPS Status will get locks, up to 9 sats usually at best.
I have seen it lose locks.
When I close apps that use GPS the GPS icon disappears from the status bar.
I have seen this happen over multiple roms.
I have wiped my phone completely, no difference.
Google Maps navigation is terrible, often get "waiting on location" even before navigation and also get that my location is not available wifi on or off.
Any ideas?
I say maybe a equipment problem, I use my GPS daily for work and it works flawlessly everytime....

+1 Going to have to agree with Rooster. If your having the same issue across multiple Roms, it's probably an equipment issue. Unless your changing the exact same thing on every Rom to affect GPS. Although this is unlikely. This is also based on that fact that I use my GPS daily. It locks in under 30 seconds everytime. I haven't touched a thing, having to do with it
Same Problem
I have the exact same problem across multiple roms (Cyanogen and Supreme Sense). I just re-loaded the entire phone. The gps still seems a bit fishy. Did you find a solution? It did work just fantastically when I first got it.
Thanks in advance.

[Q] google's Navigation constant gps loss

I'm not sure whether to post this in the question or the app area.
So I'm constantly losing gps signal in google's Navigation app. GPS status and angry gps will maintain a lock indefinitely but navigation will lose the lock often and takes a long time to regain the lock.
I saw http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=997647 but don't know if it'll work due to it being for another phone.
I'd also like to avoid buying a gps app as I don't use gps a great deal, it is just nice to have to find another route through traffic or to find the occasional new place.
Any tips on this?
Anyone?

Still having issue. Tried different apn values. Did odin to stock and a factory reset from there. Navigation constantly drops gps lock even after trying multiple modems.
Download faster fix, and select your region,
or try using waze, its better than maps.
Thanks for the advice on the waze app. Ill try it soon. Ive used faster fix but unfortunately it didn't help. My GPS locks within 10 seconds ussually, the problem is that when navigation is loaded it screws it up. I can even load GPS test lock on the GPS and navigation will then update to the correct spot but will soon lose it's lock

Waze worked great. Locked onto my spot within 20 secs and never lost gps lock. It was surprising that it asked for a traffic update within 5 seconds of stopping behind a school bus picking up some kids this morning.

How to make the gps icon blinking when is searching for satellites?

When I open an app that requires positioning, I need to know if my position is determined with wifi/cellular tower or with gps satellites. On my previous phones I knew it because when the gps fix was not made yet, the icon blinked. Now on the sg7 the icon is always steady.
I have root and xposed... I have found an exposed module that could do this but it's only for kitkat.
Any suggestion?

You should have not understood my question (maybe because of my poor english). I don't want to disable cellular towers/wifi positioning. I only want to know, at a given moment, if my position is determined with cellular towers/wifi or with gps.
For example, if I open google maps:
1) The gps icon is blinking: this means that my position is determined with cellular towers/wifi
2) The gps icon stop blinking: this means that the phone got a gps fix, so my position is determined with gps
This is the normal behavior for 99% of the phones. For some reason in the galaxy S7 the gps icon stays steady so it's impossible for me to know when the phone get a gps fix.

GPS lock

I'm having an issue where it takes fund minutes to lock location on the phone. The problem is most noticeable on Waze. I turn Waze on every time I get in the car (the speed traps alone are worth it), and sometimes it's half my trip before it locks on.
The location is set to high accuracy, and it does eventually lock on. My 6p would lock on in one second.
Anyone else? Thanks

I've seen issues in Waze as well, with both GPS lock and the Compas going screwy...
Have you guys tried running gps status or gps toolbox?
What settings do you have selected in location settings?
On my v10 if I enable the additional low power Qualcomm IZat location estimation option, gps runs all screwy.
Id like to know if gps is hit or miss, as its another of the main features I need and use on a daily basis, along with Ok Google..
My Pixel is now locking GPS in a few seconds after I open Waze. Probably even faster than my 6P.
For anyone else having these problems, here are all the steps I did (not sure which if any of these actually solved the problem)
1. Uninstalled Waze. Turned off Location. Rebooted into Safe Mode (Long Press "Power Off")
2. Once in Safe Mode, turn location back on, open Google Maps outside, let GPS lock (that time still took a while) and use navigation for a while
3. Rebooted the phone again into safe mode. reopened Google Maps and let GPS lock on
4. Rebooted the phone normally, open Goolge Maps first to make sure GPS was working. Then installed Waze
It's been working pretty well for the past few days.
I'm still seeing issues with the compass, I get a GPS lock quickly, but it always shows I'm pointing 100-160 degrees off from my actual heading. Tried using GPS status to calibrate, it now says I'm calibrated, but I still see the issue, even in GPS Status. The compass points in one direction, then once I start moving, the GPS corrects the heading to my actual direction...
I've never had this issue with any other phone, very frustrating.
