Hey guys, does this have 3G capability, how can I tell if it does, is it another model?

Also do you suggest me to look at another tablet before this?
Thanks!

No, it is not 3g or 4g. If it was it would say so in the description.

Nope, no 3g. It's a 64gb model (more problem). I suggest you to get a 32gb model ( a lot cheaper) if you decided to go with Asus transformer Infinity. If you want a smooth working table try the Galaxy tab 10.1, this one will have lower resolution screen + less bell and whistles than the Asus.
No 16gb Infinity

FYI, the Infinity comes in 32gb and 64gb, not 16gb. My 32gb Infinity works fine. No lags, or other issues.
It walks my dogs, makes coffee for me, gives me recommendations for the best stocks. I've made millions in the last month thanks to my Infinity. (Obviously the previous two sentences are complete fabrications).
Seriously, its a great tablet with an awesome screen.
Thanks, I'm looking for a tablet that will play games really well, and give me a relatively long battery life when just browsing internet or such, I was comparing this to the Galaxy Note 10.1, however the specs of this has made me change my mind completely, as it's much more faster too.
I can't seem to find a 16GB model that you have mentioned,only seeing a 32GB and 64GB
Thank you for your quick responses guys!

Sorry, it's my typo, there is no 16gb. Only 32gb and 64gb. Get the 32gb. This device can hook up to your external usb hard drive where you will have plenty of storage space.
Is amazon a good place to buy this, because I live in Australia and I'd probably end up paying $800 for this tablet which is around $488

It's simple to see:
TF700T = Wifi only
TF700KL = 3G/4G LTE
If you want both 3G and gaming, you're not going to find it. The 3G variant comes with the Snapdragon Dual core, NOT the Nvidia Tegra 3 Quad core (which is for gaming).
Asus site:
Qualcomm® MSM 8260A Snapdragon™ S4 Krait Dual-core 1.5Ghz CPU (3G )
NVIDIA® Tegra® 3 Quad-core [email protected] 1.6GHz (WIFI)

Nah no worries man, the only reason I wanted to see if it was 3G is so I can find a cheaper version, I can't afford to pay another $50 for only 1GB of bandwidth per month here, it's just not on.
Thanks though.

Hey XDA. Im currently sending this off of a crappy ipod touch 4g. So sorry if there is any gramatical or spelling errors. Im going to be selling this on ebay to help fund my tablet because it looks like they can sell for $150 to $200 in the condition mine is currently in.
But anyway, Im looking for a tablet, I dont care about size. Im looking to get one for $200 to $300 new. I was hoping it could have at least a gig of ram, a dual core (if possible), be able to play games well, have a decent sized development community on gere, rootable, and a decent battery life because I will be taking this to school.
I know Im asking for a lot, but rooting and installing roms looks like a lot of fun, and Im not able to buy an android phone because with us cellular they require a data plan, which my dad doesnt need, so he doesnt want to pay for it (which is fair).
Ive also heard of the nvidia tegra 2, just wondering is that a cpu, apu or gpu? I currently own a gtx 460 in my computer, so if I had a nvidia product like that in my tablet, that would be cool.
Alright sorry that ive asked a lot, if this has alreadt been answered please feel free to close this thread and link me to the thread where that answer is.
Thanks!

I'll suggest to you the HP TouchPad. 9.7" 1024x768 Samsung IPS panel, dual core processor capable of running at 1.8ghz, Adreno 220 GPU...it is one of the fastest tabs you can buy.

Good luck finding a TouchPad...
Most of the lesser expensive tablets (I. E. In your price range) are either underpowered or do not have custom ROMs.
If you don't mind a slightly sluggish experience but it runs games well you could get a nook color which has cyanogenmod support. If you want speed and decent power, kindle fire is a good bet. If you want a tablet that's very powerful and has root (you can customise apps and launchers, etc.) nook tablet. Nook tablet does not yet have custom ROMs but it has root and is the cheapest tablet in its class.

Now they can be readily found on eBay, but they are going up in price; the price for one of the 16GB models has risen about $40 in the past week. Upon using the device, three of my friends have bought one for themselves, I really can't recommend the device enough.
I'd suggest looking at the Nook Color or Nook Tablet. They sell new for $200 & $250 respectively. They are a little underpowered compared to some of the newer stuff like a Galaxy Tab 10.1 or something like that, but you can't beat that price. You'd be lacking some things, like a camera and microphone.
CM7 is currently available for the Nook Color and works amazingly well. I'm sure it'll be made available for the Tablet soon enough if it doesn't yet exist. Depending on what you mean to do with the tablet one of these may be more than enough.

Nook Color runs stably at 1.3 ghz under cyanogenmod 7. It feels a little pokey to me and I have one.
Nook tablet is dual core 1.1 OMAP 4 with a gig of ram. It is hardly underpowered as I have one of these as well.
The biggest issue with both nooks is android <3. 0 so it does not have the interface GPU accelerated. Any tablets above gingerbread will seem faster even if they have lower specs. Most of the time the GPU does nothing and the cpu has to process the interface, touch, plus everything else. Touch and interface are offloaded to GPU on honeycomb and higher.
If cyanogenmod 9 come to the Blaze it will be a better tablet than most Honeycomb because it has a faster and better cpu with more ram. Most honeycomb tablets only have 512mb.

I didn't really want the nook color to be honest, and I was thinking about getting the nook tablet, but the only problem is that you can't really install roms on it because of the bootloader being locked or something? (This is what I've heard, I'm an Android noob).
If the boot loader is really locked on newest Nook Tablets, that would eliminate it from my list of possible candidates. Is this true? I was leaning toward the NT because of the card slot, and the possibility of booting from an sd card. (I read that the lock was imposed during an automatic upgrade)

Hello,
Have the opportunity to buy a 4 day old second hand galaxy plus for about the price of an galaxy tab 2. The specs on the 7 plus are the "plus" over the tab 2, but the plus still runs on honeycomb 3.0. My phone runs the ics and i'm very happy about ics.
Is the 7 plus a good investment, (will it get the ics one day), or would the tab 2 with the "lesser" specs would be the better buy in the dev support department?
Wich one should you choose over the other and why?
Thanks for the input,
Adam
Forgot to mention, it is the P6210 model (wifi + IR, no 3G).
Is it the same as the P6200 model for rooting the device? Is it possible to use a P6200 rom on the P6210? Am i correct that the p6200 has more dev support than the P6210?
This to keep the change on ics as open as possible.

The only hype I've seen from the Tab 2 is the cheap price. 8GB with roughly 4GB free is a joke. Not to mention VGA front camera, less HP and unusable SD storage because of ICS. Great Deal!

Thank you. The biggest thing about this forum is that there are PLENTY of users that are happy, XDA is just where the whiners come out in force.
The Plus is far and away a better device, and the ICS bruhaha is simply temporary.

+1
+1 for the Tab 7 plus which I bought.
Far better specs than the Tab2 IMHO . the Exynos processor is great. Agree with the comments on the remaning space left onthe Tab2. 2M front camera on the plus is actually pretty good in comparison.
Just watch out for wifi. On tab plus a few folks have had issues with wifi (me included, but only @ work, so less of an issue for me) no idea whether that's fixed on the ICS build for the Tab 2, but poss something to think about.
I'd still go for the Tab 7 Plus personally.
still undecided, but thanks for the input!

The GTab 2 has an OMAP 4430 which is also used in Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet. I have the Kindle Fire which is a decent performer, but in terms of graphics performance, the GTab Plus with Exynos chip and Mali400 GPU really blows the SGX 540 @ 300 MHz of the OMAP 4430 away.
Yes they both play 1080p videos smoothly - downloaded H.264 or DIVX videos, or Adobe Flash in the browser (NOT through youtube app). However, GTab+ has superior browser experience - webpages load much quicker (eg. website pictures and text are ready for viewing much earlier when it is waiting for Adobe flash ads to load). Drag to view different parts of the webpage and pinch-zooming is buttery smooth in the GTab+ and stuttery in the Kindle Fire. Maybe it cannot all be blamed on the processor - maybe Honeycomb on the GTab+ helps because KF has Gingerbread. I am not into games but I expect the GTab+ should also perform better than the OMAP4430.
IMO, it is worth spending $50 more for the GTab+ than the GTab2 (yes I waited for the price drop to buy my GTab+)

I think specs are great (it claims better CPU than Tegra 3, and probably they mean better GPU is my guess) but in any event the big downside. My understanding is Kindle cannot run Google Play applications so you are restricted to the Kindle Market, which for most the same but not all.
But its resolution certainly gives more incentive to developers for making full HD apps.

i actually have watched a lot of shows (mostly documentary type stuff) via amazon prime instant video on the xbox360 connected to my theater system. i refuse to give comcast another dime and other cable/sat providers here really don't offer anything else enticing, so everything i watch is either streamed or downloaded beforehand.
it'd be neat to do it on the infinity, but honestly i don't think i'd choose it over the big screen in the man cave.
im not going to lie, i thought this was a joke at first.
it might as well ask "would anyone trade scarlett johansson as their wife for roseanne arnold."
Just did sum research.
I don't know how to interpret these two articles.

IDK how our GPU does.
I know it's clocked at around 500 mhz.
Edit: The kindle uses the SGX544 clocked at 384 mhz. I'm also fairly sure that it is the original model and not the MP/MP2 model.
No need to sell, guys.
http://www.phonearena.com/phones/Amazon-Kindle-Fire-HD-8.9_id7488
Another edit: Both the tegra 3 t30(not our t33) gpu and the one in the kindle hit 12 gflops.
Amazon itself says 12 billion flops which is 12 gflops.
Conclusion: do not sell.
stupid question. i love my device. kindle look ugly.
And don't forget that Amazon will be placing ads that you CAN'T opt-out of on the lockscreen on all of their new devices. Low cost devices at what cost? That, combined with no Play Store and Amazon's ROM that will be loaded combines to bring the REAL cost of the new Kindles way up.
I may have gotten one instead since it is 8.9 and I am a prime customer. But since I already have a Gold TF700 w/dock it wouldn't be worth the trouble to return everything. I like the TF700 so no reason to switch; Amazon released too late for me.

But thats why we have XDA.. My wifes original Kindle fire has CM10 on it, and it runs great. It does everything she needs...
I dont think the TF700 and the Kindle fire are even in the same ballpark to talk about trading one for the other... I may buy a fire HD and own both, but thats it.
Such high resolution on a dual-core CPU?? I don't think so... The infinity seems to have a hard time pushing all of these pixels with a quad-core - I can't imagine a dual core processor doing it any better, that's for sure!
I do like the anti-glare coating though! Hopefully, that starts a trend in the tablet world!
Besides that, about the only good news that I get from this is that more and more apps will start supporting the 1900x1200 resolution!
No way would I trade my Infinity for this particular device though...

Yes. There's a long thread about the spark/firewire unit at Slatedroid and very bad wifi reception issues.
Apparently the fix is to open up the back and do a minor tweak to the antenna, which offsets the issue caused by the aluminium chassis.

i am looking for Android tablet too.My friends suggest me buy a Chinese Brand tablet(Yuandao N90FHDRK ).The 10000mAh Battery Capacity and the Quad Core attracted me.And the Configuration is quite good.(9.7 Inch Android 4.1 Jelly Bean IPS Capacitive Multi-touch Screen 16gb Internet Tablet Quad Core Cortex A9,10000mah Battery Capacity,2048x1536 Resolution,mali-400 Mp GPU Tablet Pc with Rk3066 1.6ghz CPU 2gb Ddr3 RAM Wifi Hdmi with OTG USB Cable)
PIPO M9 or CUBE U30GT2
I bought myself a chinese tablet which is going around under many different names. Freelander PD80 Vogue, Ployer Momo 11 quad, Chinavision Vice, and quite a few other names. Mine is called the Primal P9X.
They are all the same tablet.
Quad core Samsung Exynos 4412 1.4 ghz, 1028 x 720 (or whatever that standard one is), IPS screen, Mali 400 gpu. 2 gb ram, 1 gb internal, 16 gig SD. HDMI out, USB 2.0, extSD.
In short, this thing is a beast and is one of the best purchases ive made in awhile. This post marks the first time on the internet someone is linking all these tablets in one post. I know cause I went on a 24 hour wild goose chase after i accidentlally bootlooped this thing. Primal has no website and thus no firmware, but I was able to find firmware for the PD80 Vogue after i realized it was the same exact tablet. And it worked! also the Framaroot exploits (at least Sam) work on this thing.
I hope to see some development on this/these tablets soon, as they are the best thing coming outta china right now (besides the not-very-good resoltuion). If anyone needs a starting ROM to starting tweaking with, reply here and ill post the link. It was a life saver.

I am not surprised that this is just a re-labled tablet sold under many different brands considering I could not find any information about the manufacturer. I have had my P9x for two weeks now and very happy with the performance and responsiveness of it.
You mentioned finding another rom for it. Was it another ICS rom, or JB? I am interested in going to JB since my Galaxy Note II is already on it.
Anyhow, I found rooting this device to be pretty simple and straightforward. I think there are many options available. I will search for some of these other brands and see what is out there.
These is a thread discussing this on apad forum also so I will watch both of these threads for any updates.
Well it wasn't actually a rom for the primal p9x, it was for one of its clones, the Freelander PD80 Vogue. I bootlooped my p9x after installing something dumb. In an act of desperation I scoured the internet for all its clones and searched for their respective firmwares. The only I ended up findimg was the one I said. So I took the leap of faith and flashed it (put it on sd card, held pwr+vol- at startup) and it worked! Its ICS.
Its nit perfect thougj. The one that shipped with the primal was better. It seemed snappier and didn't have annoying chinese apps. Also the front facing camera seems to not be working. According to apad, a JB fw is coming soon. Eagerly awaiting that.
If you manage to make a dump/nandroid of your stock primal fw I wouldn't mind having a copy

Do any of these tablets have custom roms, or the ability to update to future android releases?
mostly they have no website or future support no?

This is exactly the right question
I have a Cube U9GT2 that I bought a while back. I based that purchasing decision on the community support it had. If you buy a device with kick ass hardware, but no devs behind it then it may end up close to useless. Rather than looking at paper specs check whether there is community support as it is much more critical when dealing with Chinese tablets (no website, no support, etc.). just my 2¢
Hi, I saw today that Nvidia are releasing a refreshed tablet, with the same specs, but just without some features.
It doesn't include the pen (even though you can buy one for 14.99£), it only comes in 16GB (MicroSD), and there is no usb and plug with it, for me that is fine because I have at least 5.
But the price!! Only £149.99 for pre-order (199$ I think). Nvidia is pretty new to me (apart from their graphics cards), so is it really worth it? I plan to use it for streaming apps (If I can still do that since it runs Android) and stream BO3 and FIFA 16 from my PC and play with the controller (49.99£)
So the question to you owners, is it worth the £149.99 or should I get a Tab S2 for £250.00?
Thanks

With the Tab S2 you will never get the performance you get with the Tegra K1. Have the Shield Tab and its great!

Thanks, I was hoping that the performance was better, even though the S2 had 3GB RAM (TouchWiz ruins it).
How different is the UI from Stock AOSP Lollipop, and does it still have the Play Store.
Sorry that I ask such stupid questions, I do not want to spend over 100 pounds on a item I am not familiar with.

Its not only Touchwiz, as i know the S2 hasn't the exynos 7420 like the s6, so everything else isn't as powerfull as the K1.The Shield runs stock Android 5.1.1 with sime little gimmiks from nvidia, i find it even better as pure stock. And 6.0 should arrive untill the und of the year, but isn't really sure if.
I have shield tablet 1 and I can clearing say its 100% stock just like a pure nexus device, a little bit of unnecessary apps, nothing major compared to touchwiz. You can always root and remove things if you want.
The tablet runs flawlessly hardly experienced any lag in apps or loading of apps, compare that to touchwiz phone or tab, you will get lag of some sort
My honest opinion is that it's a great tablet, probs the best I have had. I have streamed a few games eg, MK10 and Batman Origins, run great and smoothly.

Yes, I live with the struggle of Exynos and its development... Pure stock however sounds amazing. I am sure to get it now with the controller. £200 for the tablet with a controller, how convenient. Probably have to add another £20 for a 64GB Class 10 MicroSD Card...
Thank you for explaining everything At least this has CM.

It should be since it has the same hardware. It might need like a little patch but I'm pretty sure it'll still work
I know some people probably wanted an upgrade with the new tablet, rather than essentially the same thing, but I think it would still be a great buy at $199. That's just an outstanding price point (and really kills the used market for the first tablet, Swappa and eBay sellers must be pissed).
It's still one of the most powerful tablets out there. I assume they've worked out some of the hardware quirks from the first model, and even with the first model the software issues along the way (like the crappy 5.0 update) smoothed out with the last couple updates.

To my understanding, they are still using the same Tegra K1 processor that was found in the older shield tablet.

I called Nvidia and they say it's the same, so I cancelled my order and will wait on the improved version with better screen and processor
It's the screen that's bugging me on this thing...every review of the new and old one said that it was hard to see in daylight. My most common use is on the bus, so if I can't read it in daylight, it's of no use!
At the same time, my current tablet is the 2012 Nexus 7 and it looks like it might have a worse screen, so maybe this tablet is a screen upgrade?
Bugs me that they make this announcement out of nowhere. Means there could be an upgraded version just around the corner and we wouldn't know it...
I'm glad managed to sell my replaced tablet for £180. Btw the charger of the tablet is one of the bests stock charger I ever had.

Should I still buy one at today or is there a better alternative?
no better alternative with this price
I bought a nexus 9 2 weeks ago because there where no shield Tablet available. But I switched to the k1 and after 3 Days I'm still very happy to its the decision because yeah it saved a lot of money.

front facing speakers are worth it alone compared to the N9 imo
why nvidia use this processor caped to 32 bits? or this is what i know... and other tablets use the k1 with 64bits?
