I was searching over the internet about the app2sd things and how to create a partition with the recovery, I was about to do the partition when I read that not all ROMS are compatible with this, so my question is... how can I know if it's compatible?
Sorry if it's a dumb question but I'm getting tired of trying to use an ICS ROM and not having space to install anything after the ROM installation. :/
Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, thanks for the help given!
Attempting to help a friend install a custom rom on his droid 2 global.
I have the phone permarooted and installed the rom manager.
It appears that i need to install the bootloader/recovery, but the site links appear to be down unless I want to get it from the market. Could someone point me to them? I don't necessarily trust 3rd part sites hosting this..
Do i NEED to install the SBF in order to get to a custom rom? It appears that the major rom for this device is the fusion rom?
I am familiar with clockwork. Am I able to use the cwm app and recovery?
Is there anything specific I need to know before attempting to flash a rom?
(did a lot of looking before posting, just need some clarity)
Thanks again!
Hi, well so i recently came back to peruse new roms. Looked around and read all these things about "jin" and found these CM merged rom and how its the best atm. Coming from GODV2 to try and flash i read in the instructions that i "wipe data and wipe system". Totally a newb here i got hesitant and confused because i was just use to following ayoteddy's instructions. Well basically my questions is, do i really wipe system and data or do just do regular wipe with data and cache? Much appreciated for helping the newb and sorry if its a over asked question
D: bump. can anyone help because i want to try the rom but i dont wanna hurt my phone by deleting system.

just do what it says it will work... or you can try my rom rage its based of cm merged
for mine just folly teddys instructions
System is the ROM. You do want to wipe/format/erase it before installing a new ROM, because the new ROM will be stored in /system.
Ohhhh, alright i believe you sir and that makes sense. Time to try this out, be back soon with more questions
well... i just realized that there is no specific option to "wife system". I feel pretty retarded for not trying first.

When i install apps on my Galaxy GT-S5570I there are no widgets for that apps to put on screen even if in description of the app it says there is widget to put on screen. I have 2.3.6 Gingerbread with latest firmware and phone is rooted and network unlocked. Do i have to enable widgets somehow or some devices dont support widgets for some apps or am i just missing something else?
Thank you.
what firmware exactly do you run?
(settings-> phone->firmware )
Widgets shall work only if they are on internal memory...
If apps/widgets are moved to external storage, they won't work...
Check if the app is on internal storage...if its on external, then move it back to internal and reboot...

That method requires you to partition your sd card, so that it behaves like a complementary internal memory...
It requires root, a good sd card, and partition tools...
You can see the method (partioning sd card) in the guide mentioned in my sig...
Don't use the guide, just get a general idea...since the guide isn't for your phone, and you may end up bricking your phone if you use my device's files...

ClockworkMod recovery. A custom recovery for rooted phones. Please do some searching and reading before you ask a whole lot of similarly basic questions.
Ok i am so sorry...

Just trying to help you out. XDA is a wealth of information. You can find answers to your questions a lot more efficiently by searching/reading than you can by posting very basic questions and waiting for answers. Good luck.

Do you have CWM installed on your phone ? If you do not read this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526
If you do instruction how to flash are in every OP of specific rom thread.
All of the ROMs will have detailed step by step instructions for how to flash, and you should follow those. But in my experience, it's usually flash ROM then flash radio immediately before rebooting.
Make sure you use the touch version of CWM, when I flashed from GB to ICS I had soft brick (boot looping) problems and it turned out to be that non touch CWM does not properly clear the cache.
