[Q] The ROM I'm using has a WiFi problem (xuantun) - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sometimes it won't find any networks, and sometimes it'll just find one particular distant network briefly that I have no relation to. Often plugging it into the mains will solve the problem. USB power will not. Usually the problem occurs with a low or high charged battery and rarely in between. Manual connection does not help.
I know that there's not much to go on really, but I wondered if anyone who knew more about this stuff than I do could offer suggestions for a fix? The ROM is Xuantunt's 7.8 ROM v5.5. A newer version is out but I can't flash it as I'm away. The problem has been persistent on all releases that I've tried.
Thanks

No matter what ROM I flash, my phone ends up slow as hell

What is wrong with this? My current ROM, like most ROMs, started off fast as anything. And it is still relatively fast, it is just it has immense trouble with Text Messages, and crashes frequently when I try to use them.
Is this a Windows 6.5 problem? Is this a Windows problem? Is this a TouchFlo 3D problem? Why does it just gunk up and become almost unusable so much? I love Windows Mobile, but I just wish it would work.
Guess I'll be flashing it again soon.
well 6.5 roms around are still beta roms
so they are bound to have some issues
also if you install other programs which slow
your device down then slow is what you get
I don't install programs to slow my phone down. And I don't install many programs. Beejive and Opera are all I install. But I still have to soft reset my phone very often.
My Windows 6.1 ROMs had the same issue, except everything was slow as can be.
Try the process of elimination. Flash the phone, after it finishes and gets to the part where you align the screen, HARD RESET it again. Let it proceed til it is finished. As much as a pain in the rear, DON'T install ANYTHING other than what it came with, & DON'T tweak anything. Run it for a couple days and see what happens. If it is ok, install ONLY one program, run it for a few days and so on, adding programs one at a time, using it for a day or two and see if you spot anything. If it continues to run ok, then tweak one thing at a time.
If, on the other hand, a bare install, it still locks up, try just a different radio, or, take it all the way back the way it came from the factory, including the radio, and the SPL. Then, install (if it is an at&t phone) the factory issued update, and see what happens. If it still is acting up, warranty it for another one, sounds like a hardware problem.
Tracking down intermittent problems is a PITA, but, you have to have a lot of patience, and try things one at a time to see what is causing the problem.

Hey, thanks for the advice. While you're here, what do you think of radios? My latest flash, the internet runs EXTREMELY hot on my phone, and it's never come close to that hot before. Think I could process of elimination solve this with new radios? Or new roms?

I can confirm major issues with 6.5 roms and beejive. However, I cannot remember what actually took place because I removed beejive from my device within an hour of installing it.
I guess it could be the radio. If one isn't up to snuff, and can't capture the signal then it might be trying to increase the power of the phone (transmitter) to get a good capture. I'm not up to snuff on the cellular radio, but, if it works the way I think it does, the phone uses the least amount of "RF" to get a good lock on the tower, so if the radio isn't "hearing" the tower, it has to crank up the power (even though these things only output less than a watt), the more power, the higher the drain on the battery. I had really good luck with the
1.02.25.19 Raphael radio, which fixed a bug I was having (and a lot of other people) with the GPS not locking. I then tried the newer 1.14.25.35 Raphael
radio, but, went back to the .19 radio because I was experiencing issues
with it not locking in HSPDA mode. It only wanted to lock in Edge only.
Tried flashing it several different ways, hard resets etc, no dice. I've
seen posts where two people have basically the same phone, but the same
radios won't work. Screwy...
Also, it will also depend on where you are located as to how hot your phone
might get. If you are at the fringe of a tower location, it's going to take more power. You might try, if your phone is locking in [H], to go into the comm manager, and switch off the 3G radio and, even though the internet will be slower, see if it still gets hot. If it doesn't, then that might be the issue, you're at the fringe of an HSPDA signal.
Try a different radio, can't hurt, and you can always flash back to the original radio, if you have it downloaded.

Beejive had a little issue a few weeks ago with logging on. I wanted to get a site-wide quest through the code or settings to see what it was using to log in.
But the issue is fixed, and Beejive works 100% the same it did on 6.1

Well, see, on other flashes, my phone did not get this hot. Not unless I had it on all night playing videos on my TV. Now it burns up in seconds. So I really doubt it's the radio... but I don't know what would make it do this.

I had the same issue when I was flashing multiple ROMs till I read the thread about the rildll sticky on the first page of the ROM development section fo the forums. Once I installed the right cab file from the thread to my phone the issue was solved.

Okay I checked the thread out (even the "what is rildill?) but I am a little confused over what this is, and how I find the right one for my phone.
And I just install the CAB and I'm good? It sounds like it could be very dangerous...
depending on which radio you installed, you'll want to make sure you have the right rilphone file. I think if you install the wrong one, it won't work at all (as a phone anyway)..
The thing is, I never installed a radio. That is what confuses me about this sudden really hotness of my phone.

[Possible Issue] Die Sleeping (perhaps CM kernel based ROM)

radio tested 3.22.20.17, 3.22.23.18
rom tested xROM-Eclair(multiple version), KK-Eclair(1.2)
symptom: randomly dies(had to remove batt)/reboots after long sleeping
and it seems that it's related to radio signal somehow, coz it dies or reboots more likely when i move from one place to another distant one.
i mean, perhaps it happens when the cellphone wants to reconnect to the network during sleeping state. i'm guessing that this could be a kernel problem.
i dont know how to reproduce this issue but it does occur from time to time. that's frustrating.
have you guys the same problem? thanks
lots of people seem to be having the same issue..

[Q] Galaxy S II Battery Problem

Hey everyone, I need some help here.
A friend of mine bought a Galaxy S II about 5 days ago.
Her problem is that her battery lasts for like half a day. The only thing she has turned on is mobile network (3g). No wifi, no bluetooth or anything else. She has installed several applications, but nothing too extreme.
What could be the reason? And how is this solvable?
I was thinking of calibrating the battery, and if the problem persists, take it to replace.
The main problem is that it is not sure whether they are going to replace it, since when she was looking to buy it, she could barely find it, and the one shop that had it said that it was the last one they had on stock. They all said that Samsung had stopped producing models and, thus, they had none left.

this may not be a problem of faulty battery in the first place. try changing few things (lowering the brightness, switching off all the radios when not in use etc) and see if that improves the battery life. if it doesn't, then approach the service center, they will get it replaced. hope it helps
If it is actually a hardware problem, will it be a battery problem? Or a problem with the device itself?
Could be some rogue apps. GO Launcher and GO Locker can cause this if not set up properly. Coupled with with poor internet coverage if your 3g is poor, can cause the phone to continuously fail at synching and not preventing it to sleep well.
Uninstall programs you suspect are causing your phone to turn on periodically or check the battery power usage in settings to see which apps are draining the battery the most.
If still troublesome install Better Battery Stats from the forum which can give you more detail as to the cause of battery drain.

My bluetooth keeps turning on/off continuously

I have my phone paired to my Pioneer head unit and if it disconnects it will occasionally cause the Bluetooth to turn on and off continuously without warning or anyway to stop the cycle. The only way I found to resolve the issue was a factory reset. I just reset my phone yesterday and the same thing happened today when I tried to re-pair to it again after I left my car. As you can imagine, this is extremely annoying, I am hoping someone can provide some insight on a possible fix for this.

I've experienced the same thing with my BLU Pure XL. It doesn't look like anyone has responded; likely because there isn't a fix and the phone is so substandard. Bluetooth is weak; signal strength is pathetic, cheap glass, lacks friendly ergonomics. I could go on. I've tried to submit issues through BLU website - no response. I won't give them another chance. Likely will buy the new Plus 1. Good luck and if you find a fix please post it here.

So I noticed the Bluetooth issue only occurs for me when I am connected to a bluetooth device and a specific sequence of events occurs to cause it to happen. Specifically something like my vehicles aftermarket Pioneer radio where I can wipe the bluetooth memory of it (it has a 3 device limit). If, I wipe the bluetooth memory of my radio while my phone is connected, it will cause it to go into a loop and thus require a factory reset to resolve the issue. Since I discovered this, I have wiped the memory while the phone is disconnected and the issue does not occur. It has been quite sometime since I have originally posted here and I haven't had a problem since I have monitored it. Please let me know if this seems to be the same thing that occurred for you as well. Cheers

Recent problems with wifi, bluetooth, over heating

right now I have been using G4 for a long time.
And many problems start to appear on my phone.
I have got Bluetooth lagging, so sometimes disconnected with my earbud.
I have got no internet on 5G wifi, but 2.4G wifi works fine.
I have overheating problem and battery draining problem.
I want to know what I can do to fix or reduce the problem. Please don't tell me to buy a new one. I know it can be a solution.
Another problem is it only get Android 6.0 and I have att version but I am on Tmobile network.
I also want to know if any 3rd party Rom provides have a 7.0 or 8.0 for that?
Any suggestion can help.
If no way to fix or improve, I will look for a new one.

If you google LG g4 boot loops it’s all a common issue. There are fixes like baking it in the oven, taking it apart and redoing to heat sink or whatever. But only actual fix is replace the phone. The G4 is common for hardware failure. Just make sure you backup everything as it wouldn’t be a surprise when it bootloops, usually there’s no bad signs before bootloop but can still happen especially since your having hardware problems.
You’ll need an AT&T sim to update the device. Sorry can’t answer on custom Roms though.
