My Sensation fell on a concrete floor and busted the screen. The phone still works but the screen is only held in place by the screen protector and it needs to be fixed.
I've been researching repair services and there are none locally that I trust. I found one on the internet that seems okay, but I can't find any reviews for them http://www.werepaircellphones.com/htc-repair-service/htc-sensation-repair/
Has anyone used these guys before and does anyone have any recommendation for a USA based repair service?
Seems a little pricey to me. I know you can buy a screen off ebay for cheaper. I'm not sure how hard it is to actually put it on yourself tho.
Hello,
I am wondering if the One X and XL have the same screens, for replacement purposes. My phone got driven over, screen is shattered, phone still works fine, but need to replace it. Also if i replace the housing will the camera lens be replaced as well?
If anyone knows of a decent place to buy these parts, that help would be appreciated to thanks
Ouch. I believe so but you should get a second opinion on it, if anyone can chime in

I am starting to think so, as i cant find any one xl screens online. I cant find One XL housings either, and i would think they are different, seeing as the phones are different sizes. Frustrating none the less.
It's really hard to find housings for the One XL. I haven't seen any for the XL on sale yet. Alot of vendors on Ebay and the like will be selling parts for the International version. You might have better luck buying a One XL on craigslist from someone who's hard bricked their phone instead. Worth a shot.
After it getting crushed like that, I'd fear it would be only a matter of time before other things started going wrong. If insured, I'd make a claim.

it was on my friends front lawn, grass. I am not overly concerned, no insurance on it Just going to order a one x screen and hope it fits, buy a case that covers most of the back cover.
the screen will not fit, the One X and XL are different sizes! lol.

So does the phone still work fine or is the screen broken? Just teasing you. Sucks for sure. Good luck getting it fixed!
From what I have heard, the One X is not very DIY fixable. So people have had some success but others have failed. It really depends on how you do it. I hope this helps!

Somebody posted on here that HTC will replace the screen and housing for $220.

As already mentioned, replacing the screen on the One X is not that easy a repair job. If you read the whole thread from which the above post is from, you will see that a supposed "professional" repair shop couldn't even do it right (and subsequently pulled the service from their website).
Hey guys! I got some inside info in regards to this. I dropped my HOXL off a counter about a month back and shattered the screen. I had a shop replace it, due to hearing how difficult a self repair was. Interestingly enough, if the LCD still works, then the repair will cost a lot less, even though it's a much more difficult repair. In my case, the repair guy broke the LCD trying to separate the two pieces (which I figured would happen) so they had to get me a whole new panel. Interestingly enough, they replaced the screen with one from the HOX, basically the international one.
Yes, it will work, however, it does not sit totally flush on my device. It sticks up about the thickness of a credit card on all sides. Even though with a little force to the edges, you can get it to fit flush, so maybe it was just installed poorly. I've used a number of small binder clips to try and get the screen to sit flush permanantly, but no matter how long I keep pressure on the screen, within an hour, it'll pop out again. I use a cheap little TPU case that wraps around the edges to deal with the unevenness of the screen.
Secondly, the LEDs the illuminate the 3 buttons on the bottom don't line up. Again, I'm not sure if this was an install problem or a difference between the models, but the lights are off by about a centimeter to the left. As such, only about half of each icon are light up at night.
Hopefully that clears up some questions. I can get a picture or two up if you'd like...
I posted the link for the xl screen a few pages back...

I just bought a htc inspire 4g with a cracked digitizer from ebay for 76$
the thing is,I live in Romania, and we don't have inspire 4g here so I can't find a replacement for the screen
but I can find digitizers for the Desire HD around 25$
but would the digitizer be compatible 100%?
i need to be sure
thanks
Most likely not. If you were able to find the inspire on eBay there is no reason why you can't find the digitizer for it there as well.

that's why I asked this
cause some of the items names were like htc desire " hd/inspire 4g difitizer "
someone who knows for sure pelase answer
I recently purchased a digitizer for my inspire from ebay(I live in America, not sure if there is any difference in Ebays). It said desire HD/Inspire 4g (same phones built for different markets). Unfortunately when I got it the connector wire was cut too short, so make sure you read user reviews better than I did. I ended up buying both the screen and the digitizer together after that since in my frustration I broke my old LCD screen.
If you do end up switching out the screen be careful it is easy to mess up and keep the screws separated from each other because they aren't interchangeable.
I'd like to know the answer to this as well. I just bought and replaced the lcd/digi for my phone. Went to start it up and the digitizer wouldn't recognize my finger. Thank god for androidscreencast or I would have been screwed until the new phone showed up. (Ended up just buying a new Inspire)
Anyways, it would be nice to know if they sent me a faulty unit or if the digitizer isn't compatible.
graresf.... if you do go forth on this swap out, be careful. It really is easy to mess things up on this phone. Horror stories are all over the comments of videos on youtube that show how to do it.
Oh... and when it shows you separating the frame from the screen. Be careful not to mess that plastic trim peice up that is attached to the frame. I did and now you can see a silver rim around the edge of the screen and things dont mesh up quite as nicely as they used to...
same thing
The inspire4g is just a variant of the htc desire series! now the desire HD and the inspire4g are the same phone (hd)europe (4g)america. i just replaced my digitizer via eBay and yes the sellers item description said "Htc desireHd,Inspire4g digitizer replacement. but you also need the adhesive and don't forget about the light tubes on the old digitizer or your utility buttons on the bottom will NOT glow. good luck.. have patience!
I had to replace the screen on my Rogers One X, but the three touch buttons on the bottom of the screen just won't line up correctly even though their placement on the digitizer appears to be in the same spot; the light seems to barely make it through the far left button, the far right button seems decent though. Also, I screwed up the adhesive and the screen doesn't want to stick down, any ideas how to fix that or what to order?
Sell the phone and buy a used one. Honestly, it will cost you about the same as an lcd digitizer combo. As far as replacement is concerned, I'd put money on the fact that you got an international screen (HTC logo up top instead of carrier). That won't fit our phones perfectly, so unless you buy a new assembly, you won't be able to fix them. Good luck!
Viper Rom, baby!
I used some gasket sealant around the edges and cloth around the phone then clamped it down for 24 hr. I also blacked out the captivate buttons .
@Bruno I love your pic! Subies rock!

Doh, I bet I did get an international version instead of the N/A version, I ordered the parts a long time ago and maybe mis-ordered or got the wrong one. I thought I had read somewhere these parts were interchangeable though with only branding differences. However the Roger's One X does say HTC instead of the carrier name unlike the AT&T one that I also have.
I guess I'll try some kind of similar adhesive that I can find locally and try clamping it down overnight one of these days and hope for the best. I'll take another look at the buttons and decide how I want to approach that. Can they also be turned off in a custom ROM such as Viper?
But the digitizer seems pretty cheap @ $35: http://www.smartphonebay.net/Touch-Digitizer-for-HTC-One-X-p/tdig-htcs720.htm Is that the right one? Or is that the international version?
That seems way cheaper than a used One X???
I only paid about $100 for an LCD + Digitizer combo.
Last minute find: I see the original screen had light plastic guides going to the buttons and the new one does not, maybe I can just move those over ... they are kinda broken though.
You can try moving the plastic things over to the new one. I did that to begin with. "Pain in the @ss" it never looked right and bleed light out the side so I just put some of that gasket sealant over the lights and the inside of the captivate buttons.

Ok, I'll give it a go when I find some free time. I have two One X's and an HD7 so it's just a backup phone I bought a while ago...although it has louder and clearer audio.
Hello.
This isn't exactly a developer/software problem, but I have a problem. I dropped my One a few times... on concrete. This broke the metal back casing (backplate, shell, whatever you call it), and now the back sim-cover thing doesn't stay put. I have been trying to find a new replacement back but have only found many Chinese knockoffs. I bought one from Ebay advertized as gray T-Mobile version, but they sent me the black international one.
Does anyone know where I can get genuine parts for my One S?
Thanks in advance!
