Hello, is there a way to port stuff like this from one ROM to another? Also, is there a way to port it from ICS to GB? Can anyone point to a tutorial or something?

The keys on my device are broken and I found the AOKP ROM which has this softkeys, but the AOKP is using ICS and it takes lots of space on the phone (I heard about something called link2sd but I couldn't find a decent tutorial on how that works ._.), so, can this be done?
Thanks in advance.

thats by default in every cm7 roms.... go to cyanogen settings> search the options for tablet tweaks(it would be inside interface or other options)...> then... in tablet tweaks enable... soft keys... and choose the soft keys you want... its already there.. no need for port...
what? i have tried lots of roms and the only tablets settings i found are for the status bar, which rom are you talking about?
EDIT: Oh God, you were right, I tried the GingerSnap ROM and it has the settings, but, is there a way to make it into a separated bar as in the picture?
EDIT2: I found StudioAndroid and now I'm messing with the framework, I found where is the setting to activate the bar, but I don't know which one is the setting to show it as a separated bar, could anyone point me to a tutorial or help me with this?
Thanks in advance.

Hello, FPChaim, thanks for the offering but the GingerSnap 2.3 ROM already has that feature, what I'm looking for is for a way to make the softkeys buttons appear as a separate bar as in cyanmobile or aokp ICS roms, look at the picture:
I have been searching on this forum and google for a tutorial on how to do it but I can't seem to find one. :/

wont happen till sammy drops code for 2.2 and we can get kernel stuff backported. Regardless of how close the nexus s is, its still different.

Is there a mod somewhere that will let me use AT&T's 4G status bar icon? I'm in love with it. It looks like this one but without the LTE. If it has the LTE, that's fine.

Pull systemui.apk from both roms. Open the att one with 7zip pull drawable-hdpi folder from it. Do the same for the current rom you want to move them to.
Now go down in that folder for the att version. Look for a file named stat_sys_signal copy them all. Look in the current rom and look for the same named files. If the names are all the same then paste the files you copied and add them.
Now. Open the rom you are using and open it with 7zip. Open the systemui.apk you pulled the folder from. Add the new modified folder.
Now reflash the rom. Congrats you added the icon mod you wanted the simple way. I can make it harder but wont go there.

I know this has been posted in other sections of XDA, for other phones, and being discussed in the MIUI thread itself, but just in case you didn't know, this is potentialy awesome.
MIUI going open source! http://www.androidcentral.com/miui-rom-going-open-source
I like certain aspects of MIUI myself (system setting anyone? freaking awesome!), but since I live in a "better than average 4G" area, I don't use it.
This might change everything.
Discuss? Interest? Opinions? Further information?
I would love for a Dev here to pick it up and see if they can make it happen for this device.

Im not sure about the xda app but the tapatalk app sometimes doesnt show a respond/post option and the only way to reply is quoting somebody. But IIRC the tapatalk one shows the links. Its easy to backspace delete them.
Still no reason to quote like that. Especially when you only post one word replies...I mean just hit thanks and be done with it.

Ric is mainly a themer not a dev (atleast he points tha out a lot) plus he is busy with life just like bduv
Then figuring that the sidekick is unique to the point that there are 2 leds a key board an the keypad / track pad this make an issue of being a 100 percent update as a lot of stuff may be missing or gone (play store will need to pick up the 2.3.3)
Its a lot of issues for noobs so to speak to use the rom which is why its not released for downloads cuz someone won't read an just update
