Proximity sensor issues? - HTC Sensation

OK so I've been using bruce2728s CM X for some time now. I love how smooth it runs, however the proximity sensor is glitchy in the current ( 10/15) build. I know its not hardware related because I restored to an ARHD back up I had and the sensor works like a champ.
Now when I say its glitchy if I make a call and don't get someone to answer I lose any screen functionality. Just black and unresponsive. If they do pick up I only get my screen back once they disconnect from the call.
I have done multiple downloads, multiple installs, and full wipe installs. Nothing I can think of has fixed it. I got no help in the ROM thread so thought I'd try the Q&A section. Just looking to get the sensor working. Please help.

Proximity and light sensor dont work????? Help please

Hey guys my proximity and light sensor no longer work. I'm now on the latest insertcoin Rom and have tried fixing permissions but no matter what ics Rom I try they still don't work.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
It's annoying taking a call and ending up in some random app, or accidentally ending the call

Has anyone else on your ROM had the same issues in the ROM thread?

Try install App that can test your sensor like AndroSensor and Android Sensor Box. Make sure it not function. If function but still not working on the phone call, may be have setting or tweak you make. If not function try reinstall the ROM see however it work if not work maybe the problem with the hardware.

Front camera ics

Is it right for the front camera to not work using an ics rom?

who said that? its working just fine but there is an issue, videocalls in skype are green regardless of camera chosen
If the quality is bad, check for dust. My front facing camera will degrade 40ish% (literally) after a week cause of dust build up.
Is won't work at all in camera mode, I don't no why it must just be mine. It hasn't worked with various roms. Should I re install the firmware? I don't really use it but its annoying to no it won't work, thanks

I don't have that issue, Skype with video calling works just fine for me. Maybe it is simply an unresolved bug on OP's ROM if he is rooted?

ICS Sense ROMS, specifically. I think AOSP ROMs don't have that problem.
OP, what do you mean by "not work"?
Sent from my HTC Sensation using XDA
I mean not work as in neither using camera or Skype etc. I have used sense roms and aosp. Currently I'm using dan sharpys stripped rom. But like I say it won't work in any rom. When I select it in camera I don't get any errors etc I just get a black screen, I have made sure its clean. Any help would be great!

Actually now, if I switch to it, it causes my phone to reboot?
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda premium
In that case it could be a hardware problem. I've read about a few people having this problem (black front camera screen on a few ROMs and the camera app freezing) but there seems to be no concrete solution for it.
I'm having this problem too. Ever since I upgraded to ICS OTA my front camera has not worked in any application and usually causes the phone to freeze then reboot.
Glad I'm not the only one, just like worldofglass it happened when i upgraded to ics

Hi, i am also having that problem. Yesterday I noticed that my front camera won't work at all. This morning was working just fine, but I was in my car when I tried it, so I just tried it once. Few hours later it won't work again. Once when I tried to turn it on, phone restarted (but just once)... I can se settings, effects and all other buttons on screen, but everything other on screen is black. I have official ICS, and sense 3.6.
Please if anyone solve this problem or find out it's nature (hardware or software) let us others know.
Thnx!
Any answers for this? Habe tried various roms and even re flashing firm ware but still no front camera. My phone just freezes and force closes any app using the camera. Any help appreciated.

So it doesn't look like anyone's found a fix for this?
Like cartermg120, I've tried numerous ROMs (ARHD, LeeDroid, Elegance + CM 9 nightly) and re-flashed the firmware from HERE. Nothing has fixed it.
I'm wondering if anyone has tried to flash the latest official RUU (HERE)?
I suppose that would be a good way to check whether it's a H/W or S/W problem and if H/W, the phone could be returned for a warranty repair...
Front facing camera.
Me too, front facing camera has never worked since the ICS OTA update. Any suggestions?

Take off back cover take a cloth and clean where the front camera is? And OP sounds like a hardware issue more then anything else..

Install the latest OPEN GL DRIVER for ADRENO. It solved my green video issue.

I have that issue as well. I have been using Virtuous Inquisition rom and when selecting front camera on any app that uses capture, screen goes black. I can continue using the phone except the camera will not work, front or back. I have to reboot in order to be able to use the back camera.

I expect this has been tried, but when I installed cm9 my camera kept playing up, front and back. I wiped data and cache in camera apk, booted to recovery, fixed permissions wiped cache partition and dalvik cache. After a long reboot my camera worked fine. Worth a go if nothing else.

Red light of the proximity sensor remain active

Hi there!!
I don't know if this is a know thing anyway, on the right of the HTC logo there is the proximity sensor that shut down the display during a call. When it's on a you can see a red light from it. It should be turned on only during call. In the last days I have noted that the light remain always on even if I'm not doing a call. It turns off only if I taskiller all the process, but this stand only for 40 second as after this period of time the light reactivate itself again ( probably because some proces automatically restarts ) what can I do?? Is there somebody else who he's experiencing this too??

Do you have any apps for brightness management? I've experienced the same before and it was due to such app.
no..I use no app for that...
Have you tried to make another phone call and see if it switches off after hang up? Maybe in the last call it hasn't switched off for whatever reason/bug.
I noticed this, but after some digging I found out that Viber is causing this:

Yes, viber is the problem. Thank you guys for the info!

An updated version of viber is now out with fixed proximity sensor controller..no more bug

Good to see you've found the cause.
I also noticed this behaviour if you made a call and switched staight to loudspeaker without putting the phone to your ear. When the call was finished the sensor would remain active requiring a reboot of the phone to turn it off.
Seems to have been fixed with the 4.0.4 update
Same thing happened to me, except I don't have viber. Reboot fixed it.

I don't have viber and even after reboot, wipe cache/dalvic it still glows. HTC One S with Axiom ROM. this just started in the last week. I haven't downloaded any new apps though several have updated but I couldn't tell you which ones now. Trying to disable everything I can think of that would use the proximity sensor to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.
This happens to me whenever I'm using bluetooth, but what works for me is this:
Download "Proximity Sensor Finder" from the play store, open it up and wave your hand over the proximity sensor. Close the program and the red light goes away. It's faster that doing a reboot. This works for me and hopefully it works for others as well.
My problem was related with a bug inside viber, the app has been updated and the sensor start working good again

I am facing the exact same scenario. I have never installed Viber on my phone.
Does the issue get resolved after the JB update?

This is what I used and haven't had a problem since.
you could also try to install taskiller and kill everything, if the sensor stop being on it's related to a process that keep it active if not it's probably and hardware issue
Since we're talking about the proximity sensor, it shouldn't stay on during a call when the screen is manually turned off. On the Galaxy Note II the sensor turns off.

Proximity Sensor and video playback

My proximity and light sensor haven't worked and I don't know if it's hardware or not. I looked around I wiped and flashed stock like one suggested. Nada. Also saw a guy who said that when starting the phone cover the sensor...didn't help. Anyone have any suggestions? Also am I the only one having a laggy ui when viewing a YouTube video. What I mean is before the video loads I can scroll through comments and etc smoothly but when it loads the menus and etc Start to lag. This happens with every streaming video. All advice is welcome.I'm on rooted stock ics and I flashed the wipe thing in cwm prior to flashing this Rom.

Proximity Sensor Fix

I've searched and other than the "Viber" problem, I haven't seen anyone mention anything about the proximity sensor being stuck on(mine is). I tried everything I saw in the forums and saw nothing then was just searching the market and found this:
Rezound Prox Sensor Calibrator
By default, mine showed "NEAR" when the prox sensor came on, so if you change the top setting (Low Threshold) to 100(all the way to the right) then it makes the distance you need to be before the sensor recognizes you as "FAR" about 3 inches away from the phone. Fixed the issue for me, figured I'd help someone else out.
