If you used the update from the ASUS website then root keeper wouldn't help that version will wipe out root regardless. The only way you can get root back that I know of is to downgrade to ICS using info in the link below then you should be able update using OTA.

Ahh that's where I went wrong! Thank you.

if I do this will Vodoo work?
Alternative Firmware update Method
1. Decompress downloaded .zip file (it will be another .zip)
2. Rename it to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip
3. Format FAT32 the MicroSD card that you will be using for the update process
4. Copy the file to (the root directory of) your MicroSD
5. Insert it into the tablet
6. Shutdown (power off) the tablet
7. Power it on by pressing and holding VOLUME DOWN and POWER buttons simultaneously
8. When you see white text in the top left corner of the screen, release the buttons ^^ and press VOLUME UP button until you see Android logo and process bar
9. Wait patiently for 10 minutes or so
10. Enjoy!

NO, if you want to keep root, you have to use incremental update file, your method is using full package file and it will wipe everything in your device including your root and OTA root backup.

You can use this instruction to perform incremental update to save root when upgrade to JB.
1. Download dlpkgfile.bin (US version)
http://www.mediafire.com/?2ctnjai5b68c7im
2. Rename dlpkgfile.bin to dlpkgfile (no extension) then copy the dlpkgfile to /cache then set permissions to rw-r-r.
3. Download command file:
http://www.mediafire.com/?yq1bt16mnm7tc8d
4. Unzip and copy the "command" file to /cache/recovery, then set the file's permissions to rw-r-r.
5. Temp-unroot if you want to keep your root with OTA Root Keeper.
If you prefer SuperSU app(recommended) instead of default superuser app, you can download Supersu, installed it and launch the app.
Also download "root checker" to verify if you indeed have root.
6. Power off.
7. Reboot holding power on and volume down, when you see white text message on the screen release both buttons
8. Press volume up to confirm recovery mode.
9. Update will install and upgrade your device.
10. Once done, use OTA root keeper to restore root.

[Q] Upgrading to 3.2 from 3.1 ( 8.4.4.5 ) Rooted CWM

I'm really new to the Transformer and Rooting process. I have a rooted and CWM 3.1 ( 8.4.4.5 ) Transformer , how would I go about to update to 3.2 rooted and CWM ?
I've looked around on the forums and I don't see any (clear) instructions for it and most of the post have a few people that accidentally bricked their Transformer. I know that most people also managed to recover it pretty easy if they brick their TF , but if someone can kindly hold my hand it would be awesome.
Many thanks ....
Go here, it has the 3.2 rooted ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1190877
-download and put the file on your micro sd card
-boot into CWM recovery and chose "install zip from sd card"
-choose zip from sd card
-flash the zip
-reboot

Thanks baseballfanz , I saw that thread earlier but it said for 8.4.4.11 US but I'm on 8.4.4.5. Would this work ? I've just read through the thread and it doesn't look like anyone was on 8.4.4.5
Probably no easy way to get the .11 update.
My best solution (albeit long-winded) is this:
Backup your apps with Titanium Backup (or similar)
Copy those backups off /mnt/sdcard to /Removable/MicroSD (or you WILL lose them)
NVFlash Stock 3.1 (this will be the same version you're currently on)
Boot up and you should get either the .11 update or the 3.2 update OTA
Use the 3.2 root method in the download here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185104
Restore your apps
EDIT: I've just done all the above and it took about an hour (had 200+ apps to backup and restore)

I am noob here and just follow mashi's post to root my 3.1 a few days ago. However I didn't do the step 6 (last step) in his post since I don't know what CWM is at that moment. Now I notice Roach2010's method need to use CWM. Can anyone tell me where I can download the latest CWM update from this forum and install it with Mashi's method? And once this is down, i can simply use ROM manager to flash with the 3.2 rooted ROM, right?
Edit: I just realized the other day when I root my TF, I went through all the following post under Mashi's method and update the recovery.img file. So I am not sure if the step 6 is still needed (update CWM). Is there a way to check if CWM is installed with latest update in my TF?
Here is the step 6 in Mashi's post:
STEP 6. Update CWM recovery!! You will need a microSD card
6a. Go over to the CWM thread and download latest version of CWM recovery
6b. Place that downloaded .zip (DO NOT UNPACK) on your microSD card
6c. power TF off, then hold voume down + power button, when you see white writing in the top left of the screen press volume up and you should now bee in CWM recovery. Use volume up/down to move through the options and power button to select.
6d. Scroll down to "Install zip from sdcard" press power button then select "Choose zip from sdcard" and now it should list what is on your microsd, Scroll down and select the .zip you downloaded (as of this writing latest version is named recovery-3.1.0.1-solarnz-R3-240511-1908.zip)
6e. Follow instructions on screen, should be straightforward. And now your CWM is updated!

To reboot into recovery, do this:
Power off TF
Hold the volume down key and then the power key together for about 3-5 seconds
Some white text will appear in the top left of the screen
Within 5 seconds, press the volume up key
You should now be in recovery mode
If you have flashed CWM (ClockWorkMod recovery) it should be obvious (look for the name somewhere. The default version is 3.0.something.something. This has the unfortunate side affect of blowing away your /mnt/sdcard which is actually part of /data if you do a factory reset/wipe.
The updated CWM (3.1.0.1) has a fix for that and is HIGHLY recommended

Thanks jhanford. I followed your instructions to boot into recovery, then flash the updated CWM 3.1.0.1. However when I want to do the same (reboot into recovery and flash the rooted 3.2) the screen stop at "Booting Recovery Kernal image" and didn't go to the menu. Was confuse how this could happen. Right now i reboot normally and get into the GUI. Should I try to use ROM manager to reboot into recovery? I don't know what goes wrong here.
Sounds like you are not hitting the up button fast enough. It happens to me all the time.

I press vol+ as soon as I saw the white text on the screen. Definitely within 1 or 2 seconds.
I would probably go with my earlier suggestion which is a really clean install:

and then to flashed to 3.2. The only issue is the CWM 8.4.4.11 above had some issue and left many people without a working bluetooth. I'm now going to follow your method , hopefully I'll be done soon.

One last question for Titanium backup. I copy all the file from micro SD to /mnt/sdcard/TitaniumBackup but I found in Titanium backup i could only click them one by one to reinstall. is there anyway to install them all together?

I had the same issue. It's a Pro feature. If you haven't bought TB, you'll have to to do the bulk restore. If you HAVE already bought it, you may need to find your license key .txt file and copy it to /mnt/sdcard

[GT-P6200] Official ICS 4.0.4 firmware (Nov 2012) [STOCK/UNROOTED]

Just saw the heat on the GT-P6210 UK firmware release and checked on Samfirmware.
Flashed this using Mobile ODIN directly OVER the KL3 deodexed firmware, no major issues so far (unable to set voicemail number).
All settings/prefs/apps preserved

** UPDATE **
Brand new UK P6200 firmware available dated November 2012
PDA: P6200XXLQ7
CSC: P6200XEULP1

Same as previous. I flashed this directly over my previous firmware using Mobile Odin Pro. I had to flash SuperSU binaries afterwards to gain proper root access.
Root is easy for this firmware!
When flashing via Mobile Odin, clear the flash for recovery image (i.e. do not flash recovery)
Then flash SuperSU afterwards via recovery

how much it take time, i flash with mobile odin about 20 minute ago and my tab still on samsung logo !
It should take up to 7 minutes to complete the process, including boot up.

Took mine around 5 minutes to flash, then another few mins to get to the "upgrading screen" (which is simply android creating the relevant dexes).

Should be no issues. I *would* flash the CWM recovery tho.
Uhm, for some strange reason none of my 2 PCs is able to see P6200 while in recovery mode. Everything is working fine if I connect my GS3 to those PCs. Any clue?
Try using Mobile Odin ;-)
It has worked pretty well for me.
Edit : I had a stock ROM / RECOVERY / ... Only rooted my device.
i'm mirroring the ICS Austria Firmware on media fire. Feel free to download.

[Q] TF700 - Cannot update to JB

Hi,
I want to update my TF700 from ICS and I'm in the following situation:
- brand new TF700
- ICS 4.0.3
- build number IML74K.US_epad-9.4.5.30-20120907
- rooted with debugfs
- root backup with Voodoo OTA Keeper
- checking OTA for JB - "There is no update available for your device currently."
- reset the device 3-4-5 times, still no OTA
- went to ASUS website and downloaded US_epad_user_10_4_4_16_UpdateLauncher.zip
- unziped US_epad-user-10.4.4.16.zip and copied to internal memory (/sdcard/)
- restarted... nothing happened
Some things:
- I don't want to unlock, root is enough
- also, I do not want to "update to JB recovery method (EP201_768_SDUPDATE.ZIP)" - from what I understood I will lose root via this method even if I backed it with Voodoo
Is there any solution to update to JB?
THX a lot

4. Unzip and copy the "command" file to /cache/recovery then set permission to rw-r-r
5. Temp-unroot if you want to keep your root with OTA Root Keeper.(if you not done yet).
6. Power off.
7. Reboot holding power on and volume down until you see white text on the screen then release both buttons.
8. Then press power up to confirm recovery mode.
9. Update will install and update your device.
Thanks for the solution.
However, I raised a ticket to ASUS support and I received the following answer:
"Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for contacting ASUS Service Care.
The update should automatically download. If it does not auto down load after a week you can manually install.
From your TF700T you can also try going to Apps/Settings/About Tablet/Check Update, make sure to turn on WiFi and the device can access the internet.
For manual download:
From your PC you will need a micro SD card
1. Go to (put url here from TF700 downloads on ASUS site - I cannot post links yet)
2. Select Android OS
3. Download Version v10.4.4.16 for your SKU
4. Unzip and save to desired location.
5. see the file name XX_epad-user-10.4.4.16
6. Copy folder to SD card
7. Remove SD card from PC and insert to into Transformer TF700T
8. Bottom of screen in notification area next to clock you will see and update available"
The only thing I didn't try was to put the zip file to an external SD card.
Anyway, I was ready to apply buhohitr solution when I received a message that I have an update available. So, OTA worked in the end (after 3 days from when the tablet was started the first time!!!).
BTW: I also ke[pt my root with Voodoo OTA Keeper.
Thanks again
Very Helpful!
Thank you for the walkthrough. Sadly I had not used my TF700T since the beginning of Nov, and didn't realize I accepted the update until it was too late. Kudo's and keep up the good work.

[Q] Can anyone help me to update?

hi guys
I'm in android 4.0 (10.4.4.25) and I want to update to android 4.2 (10.6.1.14.8)
I used to update in this way:
((((Alternative Firmware update Method
9. Wait patiently for 10 minutes or so))))))
but there is 2 question:
1- I read this thread ((ASUS JellyBean 4.2.1 updates - a warning)) and I want to know if I use that way I sayed, will it be a hard or soft brick for my tf700 or not?(I mean this has the new update the same problem like previous update ?
2- Can I use motochopper in JB 4.2.1 (10.6.1.14.8) to root my device? (my device is unlocked)
(excuse me if my writing has problem, because my English language is not too good.)

I'm not sure what you are trying to ask here -- let me read the thread again. EDIT: you'll be fine -- the issue is/was not with being unlocked but with having a custom recovery that was outdated and couldn't handle the new partition structure correctly. As long as you have the stock recovery (which is the only one that will allow this auto-update route anyway ) you shouldn't run into strange problems as long as you follow the procedure to the letter.

Nvidia Shield K1 Ota update 1.5.zip

Hi, anybody help me?
Can I flash this update with twrp(3.0.2r2) and root(SuperSu 2.71) or should I restore stock boot, recovery, system?
I don't see any "verify" in updater-script.
I found the answer - NO.

hoping to have an answer to this too since I just got my tablet and don't want to brick it. I hope there will be a hero here.
And whwrw is the file? With TRWP and Root I have a permanent notification to downloand ans install that obviusly doesn't work. Shield downloads OTA file, restarts on TWRP and nothing happens because this doesn't know where is OTA file. Only if I download OTA zip file I could intall install it, but I don't find it looking on Google and another lookers.
I guess, the easiest way is to flash recovery and system of ota 1.4 (download from developer.nvidia.com and fastboot flash) and then flash the new ota update.

There is another way and its the way i have done it.
Go back to stock 1.4 (So that everything is not modded)
Unlock Bootloader
Boot TWRP Recovery (Don't Flash it)
Make Sure in TWRP that you pick Read-Only for the System when asked
Flash SuperSU
Boot Tablet
Sign into Google and Download FlashFire
Ensure OTA is setup for Full
Then each time a OTA downloads use FlashFire to flash it.
My K1 had 1.4 with Root setup in the above manner and When OTA 1.5 Downloaded i used Flashfire and it flashed the Device and then i was on OTA 1.5 with Root intact.
If you use exposed on the other hand then this method will not work unless its the systemless version. But you will need to deactivate all Xposed Modules before flashing.
You could always wait till GtrCraft releases his optimized stock rom once Nvidia releases the factory images. All that's required is to wipe the system partition, flash the rom and then flash SuperSU. No full wipes needed. He hasn't released the 1.5 OTA update yet but I have found this is the easiest way to update. Shouldn't be too much longer.

I'm on rooted 1.4 stock rom, if I'm gonna flash GtrCraft rom, my data will not be deleted since there's no need to full wipe, right?
Thanks

Correct, you will be required to wipe the system partition but app and personal data is not stored on that partition. App data is stored in the Data partition and personal data such as pictures is stored in your internel storage. When in TWRP on the wipe tab you can select which partitions you wanna wipe under the Advanced tab, make sure NOT to select any partition other than system. System is where your ROM info and OS info is stored.
Just a note if you do not know what or how to do what I'm talking about please do a little research first. After you flash the optimized stock image, flash SuperSU for root.
Also note he hasn't released the 1.5 OTA update yet and make sure to flash the K1 OTA update when he releases it and NOT the original shield tablet OTA update. There is a difference.

Done. Quite easy to do, thought it will be hard. But I don't feel Optimized yet, it feels like the same, but I'll give it more time lol.
Thanks
Prerequisites:
1. K1 is rooted.
2. K1 has TWRP custom recovery installed.
3. File manager (e.g. Total Commander).
4. supersubeta.zip on your K1.
Update procedure:
1. Go to “System upgrade” meniu screen (Settings->About tablet->System upgrade)
2. Enable full update image download. In the “System upgrade” meniu window press dots on the far upper right corner and select “Advanced”. In the new meniu screen check the option “Check full upgrade”. Go back to previous screen.
3. Let the “System upgrade” window download the latest ROM image (1.2 was about 668 MB). When the file is downloaded, DOT NOT PRESS REBOOT/INSTALL.
4. OTA downloaded update files are stored deep in the system. You need to know where the downloaded OTA update file has landed. Open your file manager and navigate to “/data/data/com.nvidia.ota/app_download”. There you will find the downloaded OTA update zip file. Check for the size (it should around 668 MB in case of 1.2 update).
5. Copy/move this file to a more manageable location, e.g. your downloads folder “/storage/emulated/0/download”.
6. Reboot K1 into TWRP recovery. Press the power button on your K1, select “Reboot”. As soon as the screen goes dark, press Volume Down button on your K1. When the K1 has booted into black screen with small letters, navigate with Volume Down button to the meniu item “Recovery” and select it by pressing Power button on K1.
7. K1 reboots to the TWRP recovery.
8. Select “Install”. Navigate to the OTA downloaded zip file, which you copied/moved to the directory “/storage/emulated/0/download”.
9. Select that file. The tablet will seem to freeze, but it’s not. But if you will not touch the screen, the K1 will lock the screen. So, while the K1 is thinking, keep touching the screen in various places until you see a new menu with a slider to install the zip file.
10. When you see a menu with slider, slide it to the right to install the new ROM.
11. After the install is complete, select “Clear caches” on the left.
12. After that, do not reboot the tablet yet. Navigate back to the install screen.
13. Select your “supersubeta.zip” file and install SuperSu binaries.
14. After that, reboot the tablet.
15. If all went well, first boot should show it’s optimising Apps. It means, you successfully update your tablet. After the boot, check if SuperSu is present. If not, repeat the procedure into going to Recovery mode and installing the supersu.zip file again.
its much easier with flashfire by chainfire, all you do is download the full update then load flashfire and click flash then it does it all for you, and you keep twrp and root. the only thing you lose is xposed if you use it so you have to flash that again using twrp

You could always add the flashable Xposed zip to the queue in Flashire and have it install after the rom. Same with kernels etc....
Thanks for the tips here. Flashfire worked for me. Immediatly used it on my rooted phone too.
I had to re enable adaway afterwards, but thats not a problem.
