[Q] Problems Flashing Recovery on Asus TF300T - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have tried literally every method that I've found on the net to flash recovery on my Asus TF300T, and nothing works. The tablet stays at "Starting Fastboot USB Download Protocol" when I plug it into my computer. When I open a command prompt and enter in the command lines, it just keeps saying "Fastboot is not recognized as an internal or external command". The guides say that after entering the commands, a blue installation bar should appear on my tablet, but nothing happens at all. I don't know what else to do. I updated to the OTA 4.1.1 firmware as soon as I got the tablet I can't root nor can I find a way to flash any type of recovery. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance...

Installing TWRP.
I added the file to the message. The latest version of Android SDK Tools pulled adb and fastboot and made a command file to install it, so as not to type it manually.
This archive should be unpacked in the root of drive C. Folder was adb-t. In this folder, copy the file to your custom recovery tablet model and its version of the android, rename it to twrp.blob. We go on the tablet mode fastboot, connect the tablet to the computer and launch twrp.bat.
Installs the custom recovery, expect to fill the display screen tablet and press the space bar (any key) on the keyboard to restart the tablet. Remove the cables from the tablet.
Attention! The current archive file contains the last (2.3.1.0) custom recovery (twrp.blob) for TF300T with JB. If you have a TG or some version of android - do not forget to replace twrp.blob of the edition you need.

Thank You!

Back to stock

I rooted, and loaded cm9 rom. I prefer stock rom but when I restored my backup there was no wifi (apparently a common issue). Anyway, I am looking for a way to get back to stock rom. I downloaded firmware from Asus but dont know if that is what I need or what to do with it. I am using the twrp recovery
Thanks for any help
All you have to do is download the full Asus ZIP from my thread and flash in CMW and it will restore your fully stock ROM without recovery

ok thanks now to figure out how to get cwm into my tablet-- right now trying to install sdk
i installed something called eclipse.. I plug in tablet and get to fastboot mode then-- nothing happens- anyone know how one "flashes". Obviously techno noob here
this worked
Terminal Emulator Method
Install Android Terminal Emulator on your tablet.
Download the ClockworkMod Recovery image file directly to your tablet, preferably in the root of the /sdcard directory. Take note of where the file is saved. Rename the file to cwm-touch.blob.
Launch Android Terminal Emulator on your tablet.
Enter the commands below. If you did not save/move/copy the image file to the /sdcard directory, you need to replace /sdcardin the second command below with the correct directory where you saved the recovery image file to.
su
dd if=/sdcard/cwm-touch.blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
Reboot your tablet. The blob file will be automatically installed as your tablet reboots.

You can uninstall Eclipse. It has nothing to do with Android or flashing anything. It's an Integrated Development Environment, which is kind of like a word processor for programmers. The only relation it has to Android is that it supports the Java programming language, so a lot of Android developers use it. If you're not going to be writing apps or messing with Android source code, it's probably best if you uninstall Eclipse, just because you won't use it, and it's taking up storage space.
Also, what were you expecting to happen when you put the tablet in fastboot mode? It just opens up a serial connection with a host (in this case, your computer) and allows the host to access the tablet via fastboot (sounds confusing, I know; it's not particularly fast, and doesn't have much to do with booting anything; it's like ADB but for low-level [hardware] flashing) and run commands. The tablet itself does nothing except display the message that it's in fastboot mode. Once the tablet says that, you run fastboot on the computer.
thanks for the reply. Now I have a brick---tried to install stock rom and hangs on asus with the wheel going round and round. It deleted my cwm so now no recovery on tablet. When I go into fastboot, it doesnt seem to recognize my tablet adb devices--nothing comes up
In my device manager I see no adp drivers- the only driver which keeps installing when I plug in the tablet and go to fastmode is the asus bootloader interface so I cant do anything with the tablet--- no recognition of device with adb devices command Help please
If you're in fastboot, ADB won't recognize the tablet. You need to use the fastboot commands with fastboot.
What to do:
-download the CWM blob on your computer
-put the CWM blob in the directory on your computer with the fastboot program
-boot the tablet into fastboot, and flash CWM
-boot into CWM, and restore the nandroid backup you should have made.
Alternately, if you didn't make a nandroid backup, you can boot into recovery, push the Asus stock ROM to /sdcard on your tablet via ADB (I'm assuming ADB works in the stock recovery), then reboot into recovery, and it should flash the update automatically. This will erase ALL your data, including /sdcard.
is cwm blob recovery.img?
I'm not sure if flashing .img files works with this tablet, but you could try. If it doesn't work, go to the place you got the recovery (as long as it's not from ROM Manager, and you're positive it's not the TF201's recovery), and there should be a file that ends in .blob. That's the one you need.
then I just place it in the same directory and click on fastboot? or is there more to it? seems to be having trouble with drivers mtp driver not installing???
I don't use Windows, so I don't know about the drivers. There's a thread in the development section with all the Windows drivers you need, though.
You put the blob in the directory where fastboot is. You open the command line (open Run, and type "cmd" [no quotes]) and run the fastboot command from there.
got it thanks cwm is back

Update to ICS

Hello,
point me in right direction please,
I had TF101 rooted and CWM installed,
First of all, I made backup and installed stock recovery from 8239USrecovery.zip file.
Next, I unfroozed DMClient and temperary unroot with OTARootKeeper
Unfortunately I removed some bloatware and can't update to ICS because of yellow triangle error,
found I have to update to 8.6.5.21 first (which is my current version)
I put WW_epad-user-8.6.5.21.zip file on sdcard, but i can't update to 8.6.5.21
"The update package is not compatible with your current software..."
now is fourth hour I'm googling and can't find 8.6.5.21 firmware to my TF101 (B60)
You can download the latest firmware from here http://support.asus.com/download.as...ansformer+TF101&os=&hashedid=gHh4q7I8dvWJzhdV
I think 9.2.1.27 is the latest ICS version.
What next?

I accidentally bricked my ASUS TY101. Had down-graded it to root it, and upgraded it after. That worked, but when I tried installing another ROM (ASOP#5, I think) something went sideways, and I'm stuck on the boot screen.
ADB works, but I can't start the shell on the TF101, and I can't push a file as I don't know ADB syntax well enough, and everything read-only.
I have downloaded the latest ICS ROM (9.2.1.27) from ASUS, unzipped it once, and placed the extracted ZIPfile on the external micro-SDcard. However, CWM will not let me navigate to the micro-SDcard to select the ZIPfile to flash it.
Is there some way to skip past CWM to get to the ASUS loader - it is exists - so that I can use it to get to the ZIPfile on the micro-SDcard?
If not, is there something I'm missing with CWM?
Some syntax with ADB to get the push to work? What's the destination?
TIA;
Patrick

To fix the read-only error, use adb remount.
Then you can adb push.

OK. I managed to master the ADB command prompt well enough to "ADB Push c:\update.zip /sdcard/" Hey-zuss, there is a lot out there to read. After that, a few 2 tries with CWM got me to actually flashing '/sdcard/update.zip'
Steps I took:
Install the android SDK
Get the latest version of the ASUS ROM
Unzip the outer container.
Rename the zip carried inside to to "update.zip", and place it on 'C:\'
Start a command prompt in the directory with 'ADB.EXE' in it. (part of platform-tools for the android SDK)
In the command prompt, enter the statement, "ADB Push c:\update.zip /sdcard/update.zip'
Use ClockWorkMod to flash a new ROM, and chose the 'update.zip' from the root directory.
Chew nails.
(mine failed, so as a true windows user, I tried it again)
Chew nails.
Success.
The android SDK is easy to fin/install
The ASUS ROM is available from asus (find downloads/firmware for your system)
Now to time backup the ROM I have with CWM so I never have to do this again!

How did you install CWM 6.0.1.3? Did you use ROM Manager? If so, that is your problem.
You need to get a working recovery installed.
Are you sure you could not get into APX Mode? It is a black screen and the only indication is that your computer detects new hardware.
If you cannot get into APX to use EasyFlasher or NVFlash, is your tablet recognized as an ADB device in CWM? If so you can push a new recovery using the dd command. I would recommend checking out TWRP.
To install TWRP via ADB, download the latest TWRP from here: http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/tf101/openrecovery-twrp-2.3.2.3-tf101.blob
Save it as TWRP.blob in an easy to find place (like c:\TWRP.blob)
Connect your tablet to your PC and update the driver and use the Universal Naked Drivers
Put the adb.exe file in the c:\ folder as well (in the EasyFlasher Tools folder)
Open a command prompt (WIN+R, type CMD and click OK)
Code:
adb devices
(if connected, should show a device connected)
adb push c:\TWRP.blob /sdcard/
adb shell
cd /sdcard/
ls -a -l
(check for TWRP.blob)
dd if=/sdcard/TWRP.blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
reboot
Do not try to enter recovery until after it reboots past the Eee Pad logo (and shows the progress indicator). This is when it acutally updates the recovery.
Once you see it get past the Eee Pad screen hold VOL DOWN and POWER for about 12-15 seconds and then press VOL UP once you see the small text and it should boot to TWRP recovery.
Here are the ADB commands to run:
When I connect to PC it makes the connection sound but doesn't show as a removable drive so I can't use Easyflash or any program like that also like I said APX mode wont work it makes the sound that it detects the tablet but then makes the remove sound right away. and this happened when I installed the Cyangenmod 9. I found someone who says he may be able to fix it for $50 using Odin but I am worried that he wont be able to and its an hour drive to take it to him... At this point I just want it back to stock ...
erm... ODIN won't work with a transformer, it's only for samsung devices.
Alright, you probably used ROM manager judging by your Recovery version.
You need to just NvFlash the device back to stock:
Download your region's Stock ROM from here: (WW if outside of US, US if inside.) Stock Rom
Download Wheelie NvFlash tool from here: Wheelie
Unzip the stock rom .zip first, into it's own folder. Then unzip the wheelie tar.bz2 into the folder you just made by unzipping the stock rom. Overwrite any files with the wheelie files.
Next find out your Sbk variant, Look at the serial number on the sticker on the bottom of your tablet.
If it says B70, or a higher number like B80 or any C, then you are Sbkv2
If the number is B60 or lower, you are Sbkv1.
Remember this for the next step.
Make sure the tablet is off totally, Then hold the Volume-UP key and Then press power, keep holding volume up. It will enter APX mode.
Plug it into your computer, the screen will stay blank.
It should be detected, if it says unknown device or similar, use the windows device manager to select the 'asus bootloader interface' or 'Unknown device' or similar, with Nvidia ASUS or APX or Bootloader, something along those lines, to update the driver, right click this and navigate to the 'usbpcdriver' folder in the folder you unzipped earlier. It will install and detect.
Then run the .bat file that says Reflash_(Your Sbk version).bat while the tab is connected in apx mode.
It will return to stock, give it time, DO NOT UNPLUG IT.
The screen may flash, and the tablet may/will reboot.
When done you will be on Stock latest from ASUS.
If you want safe root / recovery, download and run my PERI tool, link in signature.
good luck.
ok I am trying that now but I wish I had someone to walk me through everything in real time...

I had similiar problem when I tried to downgrade and go back to stock. After flashing stock from asus, I did it wrong by unzipping (stock_ics_kernel_9.2.1.24US-secure) first then flash the file under the downloaded zip files. Now I am also stuck at Eee Pad, can't get into recovery because it probably wiped out everything. Hopefully this can recover my Eee Pad!!!! I got my fingers cross. This may be my only hope for my asus pad .

LG Urbane 2nd Edition Verizon W200V , Android Wear 2.0 Side load OTA Guide

Hey All,
This is my first ever post on XDA ,So forgive me if I have not done a good job. I will try my best to provide sufficient details on how to upgrade LG urbane 2nd Edition Verizon model watch to Android wear 2.0 from Android wear 1.5
Known Issues : **********Android Pay is not working as reported by few users ***********
YOU FLASH THESE FILES AT THE RISK OF BRICKING YOUR DEVICE. I AM SIMPLY PROVIDING THEM AND BEAR NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY SUBSEQUENT DAMAGE FROM FLASHING THESE FILES. ALL DATA ON THE PHONE WILL BE ERASED.
Prerequisites:
[*]LG Urbane 2nd Edition Verizon Model (W200V) for all other model you should have received a OTA by now , Please check OTA software updates on you watch.
[*]ADB tools ( Minimal is also sufficient) google for files and install in your computer , in my case I did it in "C:\adb".
[*]twrp-3.1.1.0 (twrp-3.1.1.0.img) recovery Image Copy of the file :- https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0Bzk4DPXefDhrRzl3ckh6Uzhad1k
[*]Android Wear 2.0 OTA udpate Copy of the file :- [*]Modified file link http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/699795/lg2.zip or original file https://android.googleapis.com/pack.../af88cfbc96ad65e7b728e27c2decbdc6fb0e08e8.zip
[*]notepad++ (to edit updater-script), You can use Notepad as well.
1)perform factory reset on your watch just to be on safer side.
**update** Few users have reported that they have faced error while flashing due to buggy USB cable and they could successfully overcome the error by holding the cable to the watch and making sure the cable is fully in contact with the watch while flashing .**Update**
2)now we need to modify the OTA update file to work with Verizon model W200V ( skip this step if you have downloaded modified zip file and jump to 3rd step)
unzip the 'af88cfbc96ad65e7b728e27c2decbdc6fb0e08e8.zip" downloaded earlier and Browse the folder Edit file (updater-script) the file can be fount in the below path in my case."C:\ADB\af88cfbc96ad65e7b728e27c2decbdc6fb0e08e8\META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script". Use Notepad ++ and open the file and Remove 2 first rows,The file should start from "ui_print...", I used Note++ to edit the file and saved, as mentioned earlier you can use notepad as well.
Now Zip All files And name LG2.zip(Note : don't put all the files into a single folder and then zip, The zip should contain "META-INF" and other files) and place it in "C:\ADB\LG2.zip" for easier navigation in Cmd. (this file can be downloaded using above link Modified file")
3)next Connect your LG Urbane 2nd Edition watch to Computer and Enable ADB Debugging On watch (Settings-About-Tap about 8 times on "Build Number" and now go back to Setting and scroll down you should see new options "Developer Options" , Tap on "Developer Options" - and "ADB Debugging" select "Enable always from this computer" or something like that !!)
4)Now Check if your device has a connection to your computer using ADB tools
now on your computer under "Run" , type Cmd, this will bring windows command prompt.
Open Cmd in Windows and browse to ADB tools folder in my case I have placed ADB tools and all required files under "C:\abd"
Type "adb devices"
your device should show up under "List of devices attached"
Once device is found by computer we have to push the TWRP recover image to phone , To make life easy , I have downloaded all the above mentioned files to "C:\adb" folder
"adb push twrp-3.1.1.0 /sdcard/"
later boot into bootloader
"adb reboot bootloader"
Unlock bootloader
"fastboot oem unlock"
5)Now flash TWRP recovery (because we will be changing/modifying the original the OTA update file, stock recovery will fail to verify signature)
"fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1.0.img"
boot to recovery to perform OTA side load
"fastboot reboot recovery"
Now you should see TWRP recovery welcome page,Allow read and write partition permission in TWRP.
6)now on your phone you should be in TWRP Main screen , press Install and you will find option to adb Sideload select that option and you will be presented with a option to wipe Dalvik and Wipe Cache , Select that and now go back to your cmd and type below code.
"adb sideload lg2.zip"
Now sit back and relax , The system will starts loading Android Wear2.0 to your verizon LG urbane 2nd edition watch (W200V) and once the process is finished , reboot to system.
1st boot will take some time , Have patience !! after all you have done ever thing right till now. (approx 5-10 mins, sometimes 15 mins)
Now your watch has Android wear 2.0 , enjoy.
Initially it might feel the OS is slow but allow the OS to settle down after that its snappy and the battery backup is also good in my opinion.
If you want to restore Stock recovery image just in case if you don't like TWRP, then
download the below targz file and extrat recovery.img file , LG Urbane 2 stock recovery image.
Link ,
enable ADB options under settings similar what we performed earlier.
1) Boot into bootloader
"adb reboot bootloader"
Stock Android wear 1.5 for LG Urbane 2nd Edition LTE(extract the file and copy recovery.img file to your folder , https://storage.googleapis.com/andr...wear-preview/nemo-mfd18l-factory-3faf6f2d.tgz (The file extension is */tgz(targz) , use 7zip application to extract the files and you will see recovery.img file .
Place a copy of recovery.img in "C:\adb\recovery.img"
"fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
You can also Lock Bootloader to avoid the Notification at each boot.
"fastboot oem lock"
To get back to original android watch wear 1.5
if you don't like Android wear 2.0 use the below link and follow instruction to revert back to Android wear 1.5.
Stock Android wear 1.5 for LG Urbane 2nd Edition LTE , https://storage.googleapis.com/andr...wear-preview/nemo-mfd18l-factory-3faf6f2d.tgz (The file extension is */tgz(targz) , use 7zip application to extract the files.
Extract the *.tgz(targz) into your folder ("C:\adb")
Perform a "fastboot oem unlock", then run "flash-all.bat". Afterwards, you can "fastboot oem lock". This should restore you back to 1.5, where you need to take 1 OTA (from June 2016 Patch to December 2016 Patch).
Thanks All,
Missed something
Tried a thousand times. Not working **update** Looks like maybe It was just a buggy USB. I held it to the watch while flashing and it finally worked! I'm curious to hear anyone else's experiences with this cause it seems buggy but what would you expect? My apologies ty!

Ty! I think my USB connector is just a bit jinky.
I'm going to give this a try soon, everything working like lte, messages+, and phone?
Almost got it working
Followed all the directions and all seemed to work ok without errors. However, on startup now the watch is stuck on the startup splash screen (the animated google logo, has stayed there for hours). Can still access fastboot but unable to connect via ADB since the OS is not starting fully.
I also tried to restore back to 1.5 but since i can only access fastboot, my only option is to sideload but wont work with the TGZ link above.
Anyone have any ideas? or the zip file I could use to sideload the stock Wear1.5?
Thanks
Just making sure !! Try force restarting the watch by holding power button.
Did you reset the watch before sideloading ?
On android wear 1.5 use 7zip and unzip the tgz file and browse the folder till you see flashall bat file and run the same in bootloader. I have tried it and it works. Let us know if your still facing issues.
Locked /data won't allow sideload.
Hi, I've installed twrp, but it fails to sideload LG2.zip as the /data can't be mounted as it is encrypted. The TWRP doesn't have a format option for the /data partition so I can't reformat it to delete the encryption. So I'm stuck in TWRP.

I had similar issue initially , had to restore back to 1.5 and then clean all the data and then sideload 2.0 back. Try that and let us know if that worked.
You are the man! That worked
Installed recovery.img bootloader, then ran the 1.5 bat file, then reinstalled twrp. /data unlocked and mounted, sideloaded 2.0. You turned my brick back into a watch. Thank you very much.

I made sure to reset before force restart and reset before sideloading. Still having some trouble with the 1.5 reset though.
In bootloader, which option to I select for flashall to work? ADB Devices can't see it and if i just run from bootloader home screen i get , <waiting for any device>. Same thing in TWRP.
Thanks again for your help
[Note for other users unfamiliar with this process & having similar problems - you'll have to unzip the source file, then unzip "output" to extract all the files... tooke me a few attempts to realize i missed a step!]
Solved flash-all not working

As with some other users the cable connection seemed to be causeing me some problems. I used a different USB port and held the connector against the watch and flashing to 1.5 worked this time.

Installed recovery.img bootloader, then ran the 1.5 bat file, then reinstalled twrp. /data unlocked and mounted, sideloaded 2.0. You turned my brick back into a watch. Thank you very much.

Flash the original recovery.img extracted from the .tgz file and try again it should work.
For ADB access in TWRP use sideload using ADB option .
So will android pay work now with this

I think I am having the same issue as you. I was sideloading 2.0 as instructed and I think I had a bad cable connection. I am now stuck with no wear operating system at all. When I start my phone it only stays on LG boot screen with the unlock icon on the bottom. My computer is now unable to recognize the device because I cannot get into settings to turn on ADB Debugging. If I follow the same steps as you can I sideload wear 1.5 and update via boot loader screen?

I have a tablet I can depure via USB and where I can root the tablet. But if I connect to the internet, the "registration and password" of university program enters and is saved (even after formatting it is stuck on this screen) blocking the tablet, I believe that after the internet loads, it installs this locking program ... What would be the name of this type of application? I'd like to know, how remove this app, to If connect in internet, we can block (and try install TWRP via internet with TWRP Management)...

Hello everyone !
I've been trying to resolve this issue for weeks. I have a tablet that I can't unlock (it's super hard, it's like Dark Souls of tablets). Well let's start.
He has a program that blocks asking for password and user (this a old from a university), where you request access via wireless or 2G/3G. without it you can't access it, so I believe I have to change his firmware instaled in, but I'm having a hard time to make it.
• Let's go to basic product information:
The chip is a RK3066 (same from TV BOX based on rockchip).
The model is YPY L1050 from POSITIVO (it's from Brazil).
- Software and Items
I have the drivers installed (correctly);
I have adb installed;
I have SD_Card;
I have acess from PC;
The tablet is unroot;
• Back to the items:
So, the good news is that I have the same tablet model, unlocked (with another type of ROM that I am unaware of). That works normally, without problems. Well, I saw a procedure that basically it is possible to extract this image from the good tablet, to the locked tablet. I did that, I ended up extracting a series of .img files from the unlocked tablet: boot, cache, kernel, system, etc... ok.
• Trying a extract from unlock same tablet:
I try transfer the copied files from "good unlock tablet" (extrated with AndroidTool), and put in (with the same tool) in the lock tablet... There is a problem, even before starting the operation, I have the error "Test Device Fail ", in the last is not possible to transfer files via USB (I can only do commands like" ResetDevice ", or export the images from the blocked tablet via AndroidTool... and yes I have the drivers instaled, commands like adb sideloader in the fastboot works).
• Trying a firmware found in internet:
Well, I tryed to download the firmware found on the internet corresponding to the device model, but unfortunately I have the same error as above. I download the .img firware original and using the RKBatchTool and have the same error (the operation don't start, give "Test Device Fail" in "Upgrade" and "Restore").
I believe that both operations do not accept transferring via USB.
PS: The tablet unlocked the command of "TestDevice" works fine.
• What I was thinking of doing:
1 - I think I need to take the all .img(s) files extracted from the unlocked device, put it in a single image (.img), put it in a SD_Card and in the "fastboot" take the option "update rkimage from external storage". But I don't know how to do this. (I try search for it);
2 - Somehow being able to do "apply update from external storage", maybe doing the same procedure above with an "update.img", but I also don't know how to do that (put all img. files together in the form of a one update.img).
3 - Have anothers options, like "apply update from ADB", the PC response this conection with tablet, (I can see the device with ''adb device'' cmds in sideload mode in PC). The problem is that I don't know how I'm going to send the .img file, if I send it inside a .zip (I even tried that, send all the .img files inside a .zip to see if it works. The tablet arrives to read the files but in the end the operation aborts). So my knowledge is lacking in this part.
4 - Another would be such a "ROM Dump." I'd like to do a "ROM dump" with an SD card, I even researched it on the internet but I didn't find this procedure to rockchip (only for Amlogic).
With SD Card:
There was a youtube that managed to unlock a tablet like that, but it was a previous model that I'd like to unlock (and different version of firmware, android etc). His method was to put a bootable sd_card, but he doesn't explain how he does it (he only gives the file done) and looking at the files internally, I just think they were converted to linux formats (system.tar.gz, userdata.tar.gz, some .sh .so files, and a bootenv.img, uImage etc) and with completely different names from .img... It is a pity that it is not for my Tablet model .
Well, that's it in the end, I need to change the firmware and I don't know how to do it.
PS: I tried other operations/methods as well, but I will not comment so that this post doesn't get big.

Instead of trying to package the .img files into one file, you should try flashing each .img individually via fastboot using commands with the following structure:
fastboot flash <name of partition> <name of partition.img>
The following commands are examples.
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash kernel kernel.img
You will need to use a separate command for each individual .img.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Well I can make it via adb sideload? I can't use the command "adb reboot fastboot". Because this command "adb reboot fastboot" only turns off the tablet don't restarting into fastboot/download mode (just turns off). But If I manually enter on the bootloader, I can access the adb sideload option, where the adb install on computer can detects the device via the "adb devices command" with sideload.

It isn't going to work via adb unless the device is rooted and then it won't be via adb sideload, it would be done by using dd commands to dd the .img files directly to their partitions.

I just found a solution. It requires some tinkering, though.
I had to use a machine running windows 7, because that's the only OS that the drivers worked.
Download the firmware for the Ypy L1050F here: https://www.stockrom.net/2018/07/l1050.html
It comes with the drivers, the ROM, and a tool called RKBatchtool 1.8
You'll have to decompress everything, open RKBatchtool and choose the firmware that is in the ROM folder (Not the DEMO one).
Now comes the tricky part: You gotta undo the 3 screws aroud the tablet, then pry it open with your fingers(remember to remove microSD and SIM first, to avoid breaking stuff!). I recommend startind by the side with the usb, hdmi and power ports to get some leverage. The back cover should pop right off. Then you have to locate the NAND chip in it. Should be a Micron one with 48 pins. The small circle at one of the corners of the chip represents pin 1. Plug your usb cable to the tablet. With the tablet TURNED OFF, use a SIM removal tool or very fine tip metallic screwdriver to short pins 17 and 18 on the NAND chip and plug the power jack into the tablet. RKBatchtool should show that a device was connected. You can release the screwdriver now and just click the "Upgrade" button in RKBatchtool. Now this is very important: DO NOT UNPLUG your tablet until everything is done. It'll tell you when it's done uploading the firmware and checking it. Enjoy your new usable tablet!
I scoured the internet and found this procedure being used for TV Boxes with the same RK3066 SoC. AFAIK, nobody else managed to do it so far, so spread the word.
You are awesome. Broke the internet! I will follow your procedures to try to unlock it. Many thanks again xmas for you.
