Hey guys,
I know that developing is in its early stages (doh, it came out yesterday haha), but I just wanted to let our beloved devs that we really really want to have a rom that is AOSP. Sense is a good eye candy, but I am sure that there are many of us in here that would like to get the maximum out of this beast of ours, and I think that AOSP android would give us all that.
Either that, or MIUI ROM - just something different than the Sense 3.0
I am also including a poll - to see if its just me with the desire of getting a non-sense rom ( and by that I mean AOSP, not just removed htc.sense and adding launcher pro ).
I love CyanogenMod as much as the next guy, but I remember that on my MT4G - the AOSP version used to run even better than the cm7.
I kinda liked Sense once I got it, but now I am getting tired of it - its just too much! I want a plain phone, that works like the hardware was meant to be.
I'm waiting for CM7
+1! would absolutely LOVE to see miui on my sensation!
I'm waiting for any ROM that is AOSP or atleast something different from sense.

MIUI would be wonderful!
I don't get the hype for MIUI. I have only seen it in videos but it looks pretty ugly to me. Why would you want to trade in Android OS for an iPhone wannabe?
I like MIUI because it was simple. I guess the biggest reason would be that it was just different. Another one would be that I liked the way some of their apps worked. Such as Miui music.
Honestly for the sensation I'd like to see all of the above. I get bored a lot and to alleviate that I tend to flash different roms often.
AOSP would be heaven, but I doubt that you'll beat kmobs to the punch.

not CM7 perse, but a good AOSP or AOSP based rom is needed to create MIUI. This is from the MIUI forums regarding a port to the Sensation.
Great...
i want to see miui on my htc sensation...
I'll be waiting...
I voted for CyanogenMod, ASOP and MIUI ;-)
Not big on monogamy at this point, I want all.
Waiting patiently.

Be patient, they're working on it. Kmobs has the basics working but they won't release until it's ready.
I check download.cyanogenmod.com and sensation development like 3 times a day, lol.

I'd love CM7.1 to work on our Sensation.... did try the test rom in the Development forum and apart from not being able to turn on the bluetooth, and losing a few settings like Internet Sharing, it feels pretty complete....

Could be me... Voted for CM7
Former Nexus S user here.
AdamG cooked up some delicious OxygenROM for the NS. Supposedly one of his cohorts is porting Oxygen to the Sensation. Hopefully that makes it here because it was an incredibly fast and lightweight AOSP rom.
oh I can't wait for CM7 on my Sensation.... I like Miui too but not nearly as much as CM7. I really miss RoyalGinger that I had on my MT4G, I almost wish I'd of waited to buy my sensation until CM7 dropped for it.
Stupid request, wait and give devs the time they need for there awesome work for all of us.
By the way, c-mod is much more greater for every device because they're developing than stolen c-mod stuff modded by miui "devs".

I haven't used cyanogenmod since cm5, and want that impressed with features. I'll sure many more have been added since then and hope to see it soon. Some of the plain aosp apps kind of suck vs the manufacture flavor though. hopefully the latest CM builds have many bulls info them. I do prefer vanilla ish (launcherpro) vs manufacture launchers though

MIUI music is the coolest modded music player out there...and MIUI is fun to tinker with and reminds me of iOS...used to be a Dev so it makes it nostalgic..plus you can change so many things without coding or fussing
As I see numerous ROMs out there based on all four I decided to make this thread too check how would you guys compare them. I mean in terms of features, speed and compatibility with HTC One S. I'll be grateful if the more experienced list the pros and cons of each one if them.

I am currently using Axiom S, a Sense ROM, merely because it is very stable.
ROMs are either stock based or AOSP based. Generally, stock based ROMs, are the most stable with the least bugs (if any). CM9 and AOKP, on the other hand, are still a work in progress and have some minor bugs. Miui can be stock (Sense) based or AOSP based, and will include all the bugs of its base.
Now to compare them, I think that both CM9 and AOKP are good AOSP based ROM choices. AOKP is more stable for our device, and I like it better because it has more features than CM9 in my opinion. Both are fast and should have better performance than stock sense. Miui, whether sense or aosp based, adds good eye candy, but the iPhone style might not be for everyone. Miui will have similar performance as the ROM it was based on.
These are just my opinions, but I want to give people a general idea of the advantages and disadvantages of each ROM
For stability:
Sense > MIUI Sense > AOKP > CM9/MIUI AOSP
For performance:
AOKP > CM9 > MIUI AOSP > Sense/MIUI Sense
For features and tweaks:
AOKP > CM9 > MIUI > Sense
For eye candy:
MIUI > Sense > AOKP/CM9

VERY nice overview of all the ROMs. I too am using Axiom. Although for eye candy I'd go sense then MIUI. Although MIUI is customizable, people are more familiar with sense as a whole population, not just XDA.

I wouldn't put aokp or cm9 at the top for performance. Yet. Good progress on them, but I don't think they're quite up to speed to the best sense roms right now.

Really? I think they are quite fast. And a lot smaller than the sense roms. I still think HTC added too much bloat to the rom even though sense 4.0 is lighter than other versions.

I'm using the Sense based Miui rom, because I have the customization of Miui, while still keeping the sense camera and keyboard
And I too think there are too many options, the rom I'm using is sense based, AOKP is based on CM9. Still an interesting poll
bump before it lost
Sense 4.1 to be exact.........
So all the time I see people on here post "what's the best ROM?" Well the simple answer is none. There's non such thing as best. If you talking terms of stability and lack of bugs tho then there's your question.
Rephrase your questions when asking about ROMs. Tastes differ and so do opinions what might be awesome for one person might feel crappy to another. Therefore there's no ROM people can say is the "best".
I personally have tried at least 8 or more ROMs for the sk4g and 12 for the amaze. Anyway, my dd for my sk4g has been smooth maximus ginger clone by ay0teddy with v6 supercharger flashed with the framework from smooth maximus x, the blaze 4g modem and, nxd's kernel. I have had limited problems using this combo. And I like the feel and look of everything. That's just my opinion. Thought I would share.

Fast food nation, bro.
I don't know about everyone else, but i think this phone has one of the best developers, themes, & modders. I've been running the latest unofficial CM10.2 & it just reminded me of the 4.2.2 builds that preludedrew did back in my Inc2 days.
Shout out to all of our developers

I agree. This phone does seem to have a great community. I certainly haven't had any shortage of a selection for roms, and when roms have bugs they are typically fixed within a few days. The Fascinate also was blessed with a pretty great community, back when I had that.
Could be that I'm just being nostalgic but I really miss the days of my old Incredible. What a huge dev community. Of course it helped that the Evo 4G's community was huge and they had essentially the same phone, but it was a great environment to get involved with Android.
CM7 was rock solid stable, there was a large assortment of different ROM types available like Sense 1.0, 2.1, 3.0, 3.5 and 2.1/3.0 hybrids. It was a great playground for a budding flashaholic.
The GS3 community has been equally as large but doesn't have the ROM variety the Inc had. Essentially on this phone your choices are Touchwiz Nature UX, CM and MIUI. All the TW ROMs are largely the same aside from theming and tweaks. Can't blame the developers for this, as Samsung made it too difficult to backport the newer versions of TouchWiz (and who'd want to anyway?).
I will say that despite these limitations we do have a plethora of choices and it continues to grow month after month.

I understand, because I had the EVO 4G,which to me was the ultimate development phone. We had ports of everything, and it got overwhelming!
But hey... We have sense 5 on this phone now! I don't remember getting TW on my EVO 4G!

I had the Evo 4G and I understand what you mean. In some ways I still miss that phone!
It wasn't just the phone, in pre-ICS days Android was truly an open OS and there were tons of variants, including many Chinese roms. I remember the first day I put on MIUI and it was like everything changed and became better, it was that different and better. Then we had all kinds of CM7/Sense based rom's.
With ICS everything became much harder. It took CM almost a year to get a stable version, older devices like the Evo were abandoned and never fully recovered, and these days its much much harder to get true variety.
The devs and XDA are what keeps Android worth using.

I remember that Evo 4G as well, it did seem as if we were able to run everything that was out at the time. The ports worked pretty good except for wimax aka 4G, but being on sprint at the time it didn't work that well anyway so we weren't missing out on that feature too much. But we move on as the devs move on.

So I had planned to stick with my old d2vzw (Verizon S3) through next year, but I think it just physically died on me. So I may need to upgrade way, way sooner.
The M8, I believe is the only phone on Verizon currently capable of flashing AOSP based ROMs. Can anyone chime in with how development is?
I've seen Liquid (my fav) and a GPE port are on this forum, but I don't see anything else. How is the ROM selection overall?
I can't leave Verizon, not an option. I hate them so ****ing much.
I am loving the GPE rom. Haven't had any issues at all.
There's a lot more roms available than just the ones you see on the VZW M8 forum. Check out the development forums on the regular M8 forum. Most of them work on Verizon but you need to read to make sure a given rom works on Verizon phones.

M8 is not the only vz phone that has AOSP ROMs available, G2, Moto X for an example. just have to look.
I've always been partial to CM myself. Love the M8, by far the best phone ever IMHO. I've used gpe port and viper but keep going back to cm.
If you want to get into development, I've never seen any project as well documented as cm. Their wiki can take any noob and have them building from source in just a couple hours.
