Hello XDA Developers,
Our team is working on a Unity3D project for multiple platforms, however the Unity3D plugin we're using, uWebKit, does not support Android (how dare they). We need a developer to translate the uWebKit iOS interface to Java so we can export our software to Android as well. If an excellent job is done, there may be more work in the future.
Required:
Expert in Java and Android development
Ability to read iOS code to translate it to Java
Proficient/Fluent in written and spoken English
Able to communicate via Skype
~20kb of sample Java code for our technical leads to review
Expected Delivery
Fully functional Java plugin that works with uWebKit
Expected in 2-3 weeks from when work starts (estimated 80 hours of work)
If you feel you are qualified for the project or have any questions, please send me a private message.
Bump - still looking for a great Android developer.

I'm not sure where to put this, or even if it's appropriate for XDA, but I love this community and I know there are a lot of talented developers here, so I figured I'd try. If I can't do this here, please slap me on the wrist and lock the thread. I'm hoping that's not the case though.
If you've ever wanted to be the man behind the idea, here's your chance.
I'm in the process of building a proposal to Boulder, Co TechStars to get funding (micro-investment) for a new web project (I'm a developer and a salesman ;-D), but they recommend you play your powers, and have at least a team of two (they rarely accept single founders), so I'm looking for a cofounder. If you like the project and it takes off, 50% of everything is yours. No red tape, no gimmicks.
This will be HARD. It's a big project and you don't get paid until the project launches (don't worry, I won't either haha). Consider this a night-light project until it launches.
I need someone with experience in the following
LAMP, including PHP and MySQL development
HTML, CSS, XHTML, DHTML
Javascript/jQuery
API's/XML/SOAP
RSS
Domain Wildcards and CNAME
Java, smali/baksmali and everything else involved in Android development (which I don't think anyone here will have a problem with)
Objective-C for iPhone
GeoData/Geolocation and Geo-integration
Prefer experience (but nowhere near required) also in:
XCode for iPhone development
Extended JS libraries
C#
J2ME/Mobile development
XNA / Visual Studio (for XBOX!)
Dreamweaver (Yeah, I know.... but it's easy to collaborate, easier to navigate than Aptana, more free-form and cheaper than Zend - we're on a budget and a timeline)
Screen Readers/section 508, accessibility
There will be no monetary compensation until either the project launches or we get funded by techstars - and IF we get funded by techstars for techstars 2011, you'll need to spend 3 months in Boulder for the event while we get funding, resources and mentorship for the project, so again, please be ready for this to be a night-light project for awhile, but if you're ready for it - reply with some information about you (or send me a private message), with your skills and history and the kind of time you have to devote to this project
The project is already patent pending, and if you want to discuss it at length you'll need to sign an NDA.
As for the XDA community - I love you guys and once we're in a functioning alpha, we'll selectively pick XDA users to test and give us feedback, beta will be open to all XDA members for free, and once we go live, beta testers get a free account for life.
I'm currently studying to become a software engineer.
Each semester we have a some courses and a project we must complete, next semester the overall project theme is "Languages and Translation", in other words: code your own compiler.
A typical project suggestion is translating language "X" to language "Y" (just a subset of the language).
So I've been wondering how to make the project a bit more exciting, since programming, testing, debugging etc. all taking place in an IDE can get a little monotonous.
Some of the things I've been pondering (along with my study group) include:
1. Implementing a Compiler on Android - Compile one language to another. We are not talking about compiling code that would then run on android, most likely we won't even be generating executable files, just translating. It is quite pointless, but this is just a school project after all so don't worry too much about that.
2. A distributed compiler - like "distcc", a port of gcc that is distributed across multiple systems, but ours would be for a language other than C. I think this one might be biting off more than we can chew at the moment since it's two projects in one, but it does sound like a fun challenge.
3. Adding functional programming to an imperative language - if we made a pre-compiler of sorts we figure it's possible to support functional chunks of code in a normally imperative language.
4. Compiler for Arduino (a microcontroller platform) - Since we have prior experience with the arduino platform, we are trying to come up with a compiler relevant project that uses the arduino in some way. Could be translating another language to the C/C++ based arduino language.
Yes, only one of our suggestions so far relates to android.
If anybody has suggestions for interesting projects I would love to hear them, only important thing is that the project includes some sort of compiler, it doesn't have to relate to Android in any way.
Thanks for your time.
Hi
I am studying IT in the Open University. My supervisor prof. instructed me to make my graduation project as an education mobile application using eClipse platform, Java & XML with Android output. The app should communicate with a Moodle LMS system and its Database (MySQL).
the university does not provide any explanation or support to me, I wonder if you can provide me with your support over Skype and Internet?. If yes, please let me know what is the fees then we will send you the details on what he has done so far.
Best Regards,
Doraid
Hi,
we have developed a new platform which supports community localization of android apps. Users can vote on machine made pre-translations or add their own translations right on the phone while using the app. Approved translation then are available for all the other users.
You only need to integrate an SDK which is on Github
It's completely free, no hidden costs.

SDK on github..
Integration is even more easier (1-2 min) with our Android studio plugin.
I have recently been developing a middleware library that helps you to develop mobile applications, faster and easier than before. Finally it is live at https://topping.dev . This project started in 2012 to reduce time developing applications on android and ios platforms by creating a topping layer on mobile operating systems. All you need to know is how Android layout XML works and basic Lua or Kotlin knowledge. After developing it from time to time, I decided to make it open source. The project is in beta stage but most of the functions work. With the help of the open source community, I hope it will expand and grow and become the best of its kind. Also there are WPF and Web proof of concepts at github. http://github.com/topping-dev
