[ROM][2 Dec][4.1.2]CustoNexus v1.2.0 [All-in-one : CM - PA - AOKP][3.1.10 kernel] - Nexus 7 Android Development

:victory:Welcome to CustoNexus:victory:
CustoNexus is a ROM from source by Floatshow & djpbx.
We feel CyanogenMod is too bald. That's why we try to create a small UI on top of CyanogenMod.
CustoNexus has been built on top of CyanogenMod sources.
Don't be fooled that there isn't much changed, under the hood a lot has been changed already
Some of CustoNexus' features
Jelly bean. duh. (4.1.2)
All-in-one : contains CyanogenMod, ParanoidAndroid hybrid engine, and AOKP features
Social from the start: Facebook & Twitter included
CyanogenMod tweaks included
Good battery life
Very fast, thanks to the custom kernel built with Linaro JB Toolchain. Really, ZOOM ZOOM!
Gapps included: Play store, Now, Gmail, News, Talk, voice dialer/search
XenoAmp music player
Custom Ringtones/notification sounds/alarms
Lol djpbx is so proud of his bootanim

Every new developer is welcome, good luck!

Aren't you supposed to leave gapps out due to some legal crap with Google?

Well Google only said that to CM, because it's the biggest community ROM project. CustoNexus is only released for 2 devices now.

Any type of benchmarking done so far? just for curiosity sake

Test for yourself

Sure it does. Don't try to kid yourself that a single core Snapdragon S2 is better than a dual core Exynos. Unless of course you're comparing a Desire S running an AOSP ROM to a SGS2 running a TouchWiz ROM, then it isn't quite a fair comparison is it? Also, compiled with the Linaro toolchain is great sounding, but doesn't do a whole lot unless you build with the optimizations used by the Linaro team too.
EDIT: Also, custom kernel, but no kernel source posted...

I just want to know how a rom for Grouper runs on the Desire S.

Has anyone actually tried out this rom yet? And are there any known bugs in this rom?

A grouper ROM does not run on Desire S but if you check Desire S forums you would see that CustoNexus is released for it as well

Oh, don't take this statement this way...
How to explain... It's to show this ROM is fast ...
Envoyé depuis mon HTC One X

I've been trying this ROM out and it seems OK. Pretty vanilla, but it's alpha 1 so... lots of time to mature. I'm about to switch to a ROM with navbar rings
as I've gotten used to having them. The only bug I've noticed is an invalid into message exactly like the one experienced on the newest Glazed version.
Which I've heard was a cm10 issue. Nice job guys, I look forward to something more fully fleshed in the future. Thanks

Hey there
We have been working on a setup wizard instead of googles.
If you want to, please test it and share your opinion even better, do a pull request on github if you know a good fix
You can download the apk here: http://goo.im/devs/djpbx/misc/CNSetup.apk
It should work with other CM10 ROMs if you are not on CN right now.

I put up that source to help the community create better more awesomer things - this is synergye's creation our device trees are different. Jellytime and this will be close cousins mine may have more spice while this will remain pure. Mine will not be updated nightly but hopefully that doesn't make it irrelevant - you crazy flashaholics. This is probably going to be the goto base for cooked roms

He's active on irc, best spot to find out about what's broken and not since he is a beast and compiles multiple builds in a day. That's why we haven't be bothered with a what's working or not portion of the thread yet.
As randomblame its using the same overall layout but the kernel is custom and its mostly stock cm10. He's been working on the kernel for a bit and its going to be a sick one for this device!

New kernel to test for UnOfficial CyanogenMod10 Nightlies users with compliments of synergye (of course all is his work, I'm only the messenger),
It has expanded clocks (so no more jump from 368MHz to 806MHz) for better battery life, and also has 122MHz clockstate added with lower voltage than the 245MHz clock. Default min is 122MHz, default max is 1200MHz. The bus clocks are a bit more aggressive due to the new clocks which seems to help a bit in performance.
Wipe dalvik cache, flash, and make sure minimum is at 122MHz. And post if there's a stability issue with it, it would be appreciated

Hi,
stupid question, but seen several "unofficial CM10", and don't get me wrong not degrading anyone (love the good work, but won't flash just yet...), but does anyone know if there'll be an Official CM10 (not asking timeline, just if)?
Sorry for the intervention & I'll leave you developing

EDIT: To fix LED notification, replace lights.c in device/htc/msm8960-common/liblights/ with this one:
https://raw.github.com/AOKP/android_device_htc_msm8960-common/jb/liblights/lights.c
The one that comes in the CM device tree doesn't work with anything besides CM, it seems, so I fixed it for AOKP/my other ROMs and that same lights.c file should work for this ROM as well.

Don't believe the OP is a member of Liquid so it will likely stay unofficial. Think you might be confused with beta and stable since unofficial or official has nothing to do with stability.

[ROM] VanirAOSP [official] [nightlies] [4.4.4] organized, clean, fast.

Welcome to VanirAOSP. Our mission is to deliver a clean optimized version of Android with subtly improved versions of the features you love to as many devices as possible. we've tried to incorporate and improve our features in a way that makes them more cohesive to improve the overall user experience while correcting any performance regressions and improving functionality..
What to expect:
- This is not a McCopy ROM. What goes into our build is well thought-out and not a bunch of stuff duck taped together because we could.
- maximum optimization. We do our research. We test hard. We build -fstrict -O3 globally and include a massive array of code optimizations and memory leak fixes that we write ourselves and eventually submit to AOSP or Linaro.
- originality in our source. We generate a lot of new commits being features or general code improvements. We are open source to share and improve the community but we also try to make sure we offer a unique experience.
- aesthetics.. hopefully in your opinion
General features:
stock mode - ability revert to stock AOSP code with the exception of a few custom features we chose to keep active
enhanced performance.. longer uptime with less slowdown
custom written CRON and init.d.
UI and graphics improvements
custom navbar, navring, and hardware key features
halo (active display & lockscreen notifications are in review)
usability improvements like power reboot menu and sound
animation control
Improved Vanir keyboard
CM's profiles & quicksettings
additional quicksetting tiles
immersive mode
statusbar mods
clock & battery mods
lockscreen blur and other mods
soon to come -> quick cam and flash notifications
busybox, embedded root, init.d, cron etc
yatta yatta yatta
more to come when i feel like updating the op

you new to flashing custom ROMs?
every time you change ROMs you should factory reset. it will keep your sdcard contents. as far as saved games it probably depends on the developer that made the game but it should hang on to them.

that picture is the 4.1.2 version of my galaxy nexus rom that uses the same source. i no longer include the version # in the pulldown and i use the stock icons because of theme chooser. i didn't steer very var from AOSP to leave it up to the user to decide how they want the ROM to look.
also, it should be noted that instead of using a ROM control app like AOKP or most other ROMs i decided it was more intuitive to include the features in their respective menus ie sound options under the sound setting header rather than having them in both settings AND rom control. look around there are a lot of subtle additions. to turn on developer options click on the build in about phone 7 times. in there is the reboot menu toggle. i felt this was a good place since the developer options are disabled for non-owner users with multiuser. that way somebody's kids don't reboot into recovery and cause havoc lol.

So they deserve complete credit
I have just ported it over with right set of changes to make it super stable with features
Bugs :
* Camera features like HDR is WIP
* Camera lag sometimes
Changelog :
* Based on CodeFireX SR15
* Performance a notch better (Yes it is !!!)
* BootAnimation changed to DNA
* Also added a few more stuff here and there
* For more details and features : Link
Quick Peek :
* Would be nice if someone could create a video and share few amazing snaps
Installation Instructions :
- Full wipe mandatory, If not coming from FireJellyBeanv1
- Flash Rom
- Flash linked Gapps
- Optional
a) Flash the awesome beats zip
b) Fix Permissions (Recovery->Tools->Fix Permissions)
- Reboot & Enjoy
Downloads :
Rom : Download
Gapps : BaNkS Gapps
Awesome Beats : Link
Credits :
* Synergye and Flinny for their Amazing base
* BaNkS for Gapps
* Niravnn for transparent phone.apk
* ...AWESOME... for giving the permission to include awesome beats files
* Kesh_33 for initial ports and allowing me to continue with this rom
* All Devs who helped in some way or the other for JB development
* Finally Xda and Desire S community for everything !!!
Final few words
* Well me being artistically challenged would be great if the talented and experts in Graphics can contribute with wallpapers, bootanimations, signatures, etc, Would be cool if someone can find time for it and create the stuffs
* Next this being 1st version and super quick 1..is half baked and has too many ace references, But trust me by next release everything would be start to be slowly sorted out and give it a more professional look...Hopefully by then someone kind enough would have made a few wallpapers and bootanimation and stuff,
* This rom will be updated when it doesn't affect the stability of overall rom and adds value to it and won't just be in sync with CodefireX or Flinny's AOSP. Thats always been my approach release only when am satisfied and prefer a less featured rom rather than unstable one I hope you guys understand and respect the philosophy.
Finally guys this has been possible b'cos of CodefireX and AOSP base so credit and donations should always go to their devs in the 1st place. Yet if someone feels I too should be donated have finally created a paypal account and the generous can always do. Whatever amount I get will be used for better development of this rom and future development and maybe get a standby cell so that can use my desire s for development without worrying about missing on calls & stuff . Not a penny would be used for my personal stuff or expenditures. Even if you don't its absolutely fine as for me thanks and knowing my rom pleases the users gives me happiness beyond words
Awesome this is! downloading right away! Had a very strong urge to flash a new ROM, this came just about right time!
EDIT : it's been a long time with no updates
Very nice rom.
Try installing gapps before testing quick settings. Couldn't access quick settings, even with a reboot. Installed gapps and it worked like a charm.

By the way, i am using CFX now and i am very pleased with it. So CFX+Flinny is a very good mixture, good work buddy.

Flashing the andromadusMOD kernel should work fine, just make a backup first, just in case.
There is some issue with dialer.
When start calling screen goes black and cannot be turn on while you make call.
Anyway nice ROM but I switched back to Sabsa.

Blazing smooth no bugs except one! The audio, specifically the bass is messed up! This is an issue in all AOSP builds except CM 10.1 based roms. Bass is not deep enough - as compared to flinnys CM 10.1 builds (w/o DSP of any kind) I have keen ears and a good pair of headphones so I could catch it. Probably it won't matter to everyone but it does to me!
is there any way we could replace audio files of this by those from flinnys CM builds @vampire36?
If somebody can point me in d right direction I am willing to do it as well

[6/4/13][ROM][AOSP]CarbonRom unofficial builds JB 4.2.2 [evita]

CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. The team is composed of former members of Team Liquid who have forked the code in an attempt to bring greater speed, better coding, and full authorship to code. We are in no way affiliated with Liquid0624. The rom was forked at Liquid beta 3.2.1 and has since undergone major code changes and modifications. Please note that on some devices the kernel is not yet linaro compiled.
We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

Our next goal is to put together a build machine, and we need your help. Why do we need a server? Well, a few reasons. The first is the most obvious - we'd like to build more frequently and need the hardware to support it. That means drive space and speed. The more of each we have, the more we can say "hey let's crank out a build," and throw it up on goo so you see an update in goomanager. Right now, building is a pretty intensive all-day process. The second reason is stability. Building from a development machine means that the environment itself is less stable. This translates into, again, fewer builds and more work to make them. Faster building means we can build for more devices, too. All this free time means we can do more cool stuff. We've got a lot of great ideas coming, and every bit of time we can get to work on them means a better rom for you. If you've enjoyed Carbon, please consider a donation toward this goal. Thank you, and we hope you continue to enjoy Carbon!

Bpear - apologies for a beginner question, but how is this different from the unofficial port in the other thread? I am having gallery/camera issues on that ROM and wondering if this one may be different. Thanks very much.

This release is built from CarbonDEV's source on there github, with some changes to get it to build for evita. InflatedTitan's port on Kole_Ackerson thread is a dirty port using a evita rom as base (liquidsmooth i believe) and coping over the files for carbonROM from another device. Nothing against InflatedTitan. But source built roms usually have fewer bugs and are a much cleaner "port"

Do you mind posting a link to the kernel? The one I saw on the other thread is for 4.1 android ROMs only...
I am dying to a try a different kernel as this stock kernel has a lot of stutter. Everything else seems to work great though.

Just keep in mind that kernel has the "ear pushes buttons while on a call" problem, so you may finish up a call and find your ear has been doing things to your phone while you were taking.

One trick to that is just to tap your power button once you're in the call, that way it turns your screen off.

Could I have some clarification on some things?
From a framework/basic structure/whatever level, how is this ROM different from the other similar 4.2.2 AOSP based ROMs, most of which have very similar features? I've always wondered what – if anything – at the base level is unique between such ROMs.
Just wondering cause I've tried a few other of the feature-heavy AOSP-based ROMs and most of the features seem very similar.

Thanks! When I use this kernel and toggle "disable HW overlays" in developer options, everything is very smooth (without that toggle it's the same as the stock kernel - jittery). I am running at 1134/192, and it's very smooth.

Good question! From what I understand, this particular ROM has superior battery life when compared to other aosp based ROMs like cm10.1. So I'd be very curious to know as well.

Re: [ROM][AOSP] CarbonRom 1.6 unoffical JB 4.2.2 [evita]
So I've noticed a couple of glitches with the gallery. Firstly it wouldn't show any media whatsoever, reboot fixed that. Then when trying to open it, it kept telling me "unfortunately gallery has stopped", and a reboot seems to have fixed that. Other than those small issues this ROM seems to be running quite well.
