I bought my Tf700 a week ago in USA and currently working on 4.0.3 stock, no root.
I don't want to update to JB right now because i have read about some problems with it and i cannot afford a tablet return or refund because i live in chile.
Exploring the config, i missclicked on the firmware update search and it auto downloaded the latest update, it is now as a constant notification waiting to be installed...
Is there a way that i can wipe that firmware data update waiting to be installled for now? At least until i look for it again? My brother and my gf use the tablet too and i dont want them updating it by mistake
Thanks in advance and sorry for the terrible english, not my mother tongue

Hi All,
Newbe with a Asus TF101 and I have to say it's been an adventure !
Originally I found a posting how to root my tablet and it worked great until an update notice appeared and locked up my system. After much panic stricken hunting around I found this site and was able to update the tablet to ICS 4.0.3 which is even better then before and runs great.
Now another update notice is appearing again......
[Q] How can I check that this update is ok to use or since I've installed a custom ROM I won't be able to use any of these updates from Asus ?
thanks,
Don't update if you have CWM or custom roms installed( root is fine in most cases). If you do want to update, return your tf to stock first.
Thanks for the reply.....
I was thinking that given my last update experience. Is there a way to turn off the update notices so I don't accidentally update ?
Stop DM Client running in the settings menu. That'll stop your notifications, at least until you reboot and then you'll have to stop it again. You might be able to freeze it using Titanium but I haven't tried it so I can't confirm it won't cause any problems.

Who or what is IT? Your TF is telling you there's an update or the internet?
sorry guess that would help lol androidcentral said while back there was an update to fix some bugs and i havent been able to get it to update
ok now i see there is another update and mine is not allowing me to check for the update
Hmm.. Pretty similar problem here; running.. 21, us_epad version (ota, which is a bit strange to me as I live in the Netherlands), unrooted; and however I know 24 is out there, if I push check update button, all I get is spinning wheel and than no connection fault report.. Anybody any ideas/ help, plz?
Mine epad is us too and i also live in the netherlands! I bought it on vacation in california!
Mine experience once was that it wouldn't update from honeycomb too ics. Weird cause of the fact that us -software versions are quicker released then european. Sad too say mine never updated normally and i rooted it and flashed a custom rom offcourse with ics support.
i ended up just resetting it and clearing everything once it loads back up and u set it back up it will ask to update takes about 5 mins or so and u will be on the latest one
Hey all, I have a bought a galaxy tab 2 on android version 4.1.1 a while ago.
Back then I rooted the tablet so I could run whatsapp etc. on it.
After some research last days I noticed there were a few updates for the tab, and I decided that i want 4.1.2, (but still with root)
now my question is(since I can't update over the air):
How can i update my tab to version 4.1.2 while keeping the root acces and without losing or need to reinstall my apps?
because if i download the stock 4.1.2 ROM and install it, I lose all my apps and I need to reinstall it (from my experience with the htc legend).
thanks in advance!
Make a backup in CWM and install the ota; it seems that usually with this device OTA's will install properly when rooted.
You know, it's a sad day when your cellular service is faster than your home broadband.

No, that is the problem. It is not possible because it will say taht my device is modified. But i decided to try cyanogenmod on it. And if it doesn't suit me then i will install stock 4.1.2.
but still thanks
Updated to JB back in January and since then I was very disappointed with decreased performance and lag.. even factory reset did not help...
So I have made decision to flash back to ICS 4.0.4.. Everything went fine and my Note is like new The only problem is that it auto downloaded JB update again and it's nagging me every couple of hours to upgrade (which I obviously don't want to do).
ICS doesn't seem to have option in settings to disable updates.. Or at least I am not able to find it...
Could somebody hint me how can I delete downloaded JB firmware update and stop Note from downloading it again?
Thanks

ps: I was trying to find similar topic here on the forum but failed to find solution.

I don't know if this will work but if you just root your tab, samsung update will see it's modified and you never get updates again.
If you later wanna do updates just use odin.
Hope that helps...
Hey community,
after updating my 5.0 LTE 32 Shield Tablet some month ago and rooting it, I came to the conclusion that I don't really need root, but would like to continue receiving OTAs and have a device that just works.
Prio1:
Have a tablet with the latest updates installed.
Prio2:
As 1, but rooted.
I have made a apps+sysapps backup with Titanium.
What do you recommend as the next step?
Thank you very much.
All the best, Esshahn
Some additions:
1. I noticed I'm actually having 5.0 on my Shield. It's the 5.0.1 update plus the nVidia stuff that comes up all the time in the notification center.
I really just want to undo all root and whatnot actions and have a right out of the box experience on my Shield. I already did some stupid stuff (factory reset) and therefore lost my personal data anyway, so there's nothing to lose.
I noticed this forum isn't really active. If anyone doesn't know the answer, but could point me to the right forum for help that would be nice too.
Thank you
flash the full OTA through recovery: https://forums.geforce.com/default/...hread-released-2-17-15-/post/4464815/#4464815
then reinstall supersu through recovery, no factory reset needed
Thank you for replying.
I got annoyed by it all yesterday and flashed 2.1, now I don't have root or custom recovery anymore.
Now the fun part: When I want to update to 2.2 normally (since it's now supposed to be a standard device without any hacks), it just shows the error robot.
So now I'm stuck with 2.1 and can't move left or right.
After reading all those comments about messed up colors in 2.2 I'm wondering if its actually worth the effort to update?
Any idea on that Bogdacutu?
Thanks,
Esshahn

you can flash the full OTA through TWRP or CWM, no idea why it won't work with stock recovery though
the update supposedly fixes the graphics glitches that appear in various apps on update 2.1, that might be a good reason to update
Thank you!
Actually, since I didn't have CWM installed anymore, I just sideloaded the latest OTA, which worked nice.
