Resolution getting while watching videos or is it just me? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm I the only one that's noticed how much sharper text gets in the overall tablet ui when watching videos on the default video player?

HD video playback

Hello.
I have my new Nexus S for couple of days now, and today I wanted to try watch some HD ([email protected]) videos on it.
Ive tried several players(MX Video, Mobo,...), but playback is pretty bad. Its laggy, sound's laggy too and often goes off and I have to stop or pause the video and then continue to hear again.
TL;DR: playing HD content on my Nexus S is not watchable. Do I have to convert every HD video? I hope not, not like on my old ZEN player...
Thanks for reply
Look up dice player. Its a video player that has hd video playback and is hardware accelerated.

with the infuse i can understand but from a dual core? anyone else having this problem?
problem existed on the atrix. is there a device that doesn't have problems with it?
Pardon my ignorance... but why would we need 1080p on our phones? they can't display the lines, or does it actually still look better? Less Grainy?
on the desktop I don't notice anything higher than 720 as I have a 720TV.

1080p HD video playback

Hey guys i just want to ask if any of you have tried playing 1080p or even 720p videos on the nexus s because im running on slimbean 3.0 marmite kernel and I used bs player to play HD videos but it will not be a smooth playback... does anyone have any idea on how to make the playback be smooth? Poor maybe this is hardware limitation?

Use MX player. 720 is fine.
Accidentally sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 2
Try MoboPlayer

If you haven't come across any solutions, I'd suggest Dice Player.
I've tried VLC player and it runs HD videos smoothly and amazingly. It's still in BETA but it's amazing. I'd give it a try, it's free so you won't be losing anything. It also plays any format and you can use it to listen to your music. Another cool feature is it allows you to stream videos on it.

I don't know if BS Player has the option but use MX Player and while your video is playing, choose SW Decoding, since HW decoding makes the video stutter
Sent from my EVO 4G LTE
Try diceplayer, it renders 720p decoding perfectly

1080p video stuttering

It seems that I can't watch 1080p videos on my N5 because of an horrible stutter.
I tried remuxing the videos, and it seems that play is smooth only removing audio.
Any hint, please?
I've been using bsplayer with 1080p videos fine. Other players I tried had the stutter problem.

Or try mxplayer and turn on hw+ rendering, hasn't been a 1080p mkv I can't play yet

HD playback

Afternoon all.
Recently got an upgrade and since I wasnt to fussed on the S5 I decided to get a Xperia Z1. .
Bad choice since id gotta used to samsung from S2 owned all S devices. . .so luckily i was given the chance to swap the xperia to a lovely note 3
I really like it and since the specs dont differ much from the upcoming S5 ( camera slighty better and 2.5 ghz instead of notes 2.3) its a good choice i feel.
What i have noticed is the pixel density is lower from S4 and S5 but i really dont see it the difference in fact the note 3 screen seems better?
Anyway sorry for long intro but when i play HD youtube or even the HD helicopter video included on phone i cant help but think the HD isnt as clear or good as the S4 . .
Could that be the pixel density or something else?
Cheers guys

So u find the HD quality better or as good as other devices?
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
After downloading HD movie trailers to fone I see that thr quality is better then the HD quality on the youtube app dont get it
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Well YouTube HD movies are little pixelated, download it and play from any video player.

Youtube hd videos are highly compressed. So quality isnt that great
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
HD on Youtube isn't really HD. It's 'close enough to fool everyone who can't tell the difference between 720 and 1080'.
They've compressed the video so tightly it' s become blurry. You don't notice it on an s4 because the screen is much smaller.

The S4 or S5 have the same screen resolution as the note 3 but are considerably smaller in screen size. As the picture is spread out there will be some slight degradation in hd quality but not so noticeable as to be called bad...
