[KERNEL][DEV] ICS CAF Kernel 3.0.x - Galaxy S Plus I9001 Android Development

This is the thread for the kernel i've developed with arco. He has ported the CAF MSM kernel 3.0.x (branch ics-chocolate) for Samsung Galaxy W, i've ported the ariesve devices and board to his kernel. The aim is to have a single kernel for Galaxy S Plus (ariesve board), Galaxy W (ancora board) and Exhibit 2 4G (ancora_tmo board).
Arco started his porting from CAF MSM kernel so we can keep our kernel updated with CAF releases more easily, starting from jellybean and all project butter stuffs (hardware vsync,etc...).
But first all we must make this kernel complete. So i report the toolchain i'm using, and the current todo/bug list.
Toolchain: GCC 4.6 from jellybean CM10 (however you could use gcc 4.4 from CM9 flawlessly)
Working List:
-3G & Calls
-Audio
-Battery
-Touchscreen
-Touch keypad
-Wifi
-Bluetooth
-Accelerometer
-Light sensor
-Proximity Sensor
-Orientation Sensor
-Digital Compass
-Vibration
-GPS
-Display
Partially Working:
-USB**
- Camera (work completely only the front camera, the back camera work only preview and 480p video)
*The display is working except for offline charging animation and startup static bootlogo
** For USB i must test mass storage and mtp mode recompiling the ROM with new device files and sysfs parameters, so i must test it!
You can submit your patches/enanchment to my Github
I've already submitted on github the changes i've made to device configurations files for CM9, so you could start from there.
Of course, this thread is for developer only atm, it's not complete for normal usage.
A little personal note: without the wonderful work done by arco, I would have never thought that i could succeed in this initial porting (I probably would never have started this whole thing).

A little test build, in this phase i will not public frequent builds, this thread is for developers so everyone can download, enhance and compile my sources.

Great work, I already tested it (currently on it ). Also noticed the missing boot loader image

@Ivendor: Shall I fork your or arcos source tree? I know its the same, but because we want to have only one top repository, I think we should use arcos

the uploaded version of ivendor is not compatible with jb
he explained it in the other thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32846819&postcount=419

so it's true... the kernel boots!! it's awesome!! :victory::laugh:
that means we will have better performance, drivers etc.
Arco & Ivendor Rocks!! :good:

I tried to do a pull request for lcdc_s6e63m0.c,
see if you can view it in git
you can pullrequest only one specific commit?

Nice! Really awesome job

I think you see what's the problem.

so...........another kernel 3.0.x thread? now we have 4 thread...I think that two is ok, bbut four ones...
I thought 3.0 kernel was gonna help in camera and performance but there's no major difference in gaming. I'm using kernel 3.0x by Arco/I vendor and the kernel only made cm9 back to stage 1, where camera is not working
tomsteel1 said:
Please remember that
A - The kernel is PARTIALITY WORKING.
B - It is only ALPHA (or even less?)
C - It was ONLY for developers. Its not meant for day to day use.
If you believe you can make a kernel 3.0.0 , Then go ahead and do it. Otherwise wait till its finished, then complain about the problems.

Don't be mad at me with your GIANT words I'm just saying how will 3.0x kernel help our phone. I only heard that it is an improved Linux and stuff like window xp to 7 but what is the major improvement when using? (P.S building kernels is way tougher than doing math)
Now I'm not sure where to post bugs, so I'll post here and in 1st dev 3d.

Improvemends made by an 3.0.X kernel:
arco68 said:
If someones wondering what improvements a 3.0 kernel will give us, I can list some.
Easier to implement bug fixes and security fixes to core kernel (since 2.6.35 kernel is EOL and won't receive any more updates).
Easier to implement new features.
Most probably working USB accessory and OTG support.
Native working USB drivers for ICS (not legacy support like now), which means MTP works flawlessly.
Easier to build a proper kernel for jellybean that has the required vsync stuff for full project butter.
Regarding camera, it will not provide any improvements in that area unfortunately - if we are able to get it working at all. That's because we don't have native userspace libraries for ICS, so it will still be using a HAL wrapper around the gingerbread libs.

This kernel will open a whole new page for us, don't think we are at stage 1 we are at stage 10 just by getting the kernel boot! This is a major improvment to our phone so please stay patiance and you will se how much diffrence it is betwen 2.x.x and 3.x.x

[ROM][JB][JZO54K]AOSP 4.1.2 Pre-Alpha and v.4.2.1 test build

Ok guys, you all know my AOSP 4.0.4 build, now I made a new AOSP build, this time it's JellyBean 4.1.2 JZO54K. Now that I know the method of building I easily built this version. It's still a bit CM10ish (just like AOSP 4.0.4 was CM9 like at the start). Test it out!
broodKernel v1.5 OC is included for now.
(It may contain a lot of CM10 files which aren't required, but this is just a pre alpha, but it fully works!)

which is true aosp, istead of downgrading cm10 and messing around with build files and so on. I think this could make your life a bit easier.

This is still JB 4.1.2, since we're still building PA with a CM base. PA's new AOSP 4.2 base appears to be on the same 'jellybean' branch, which is why (I'm assuming) the version still went up to 3.00. I didn't change this, it was built that way from PA source.
Disclaimer: I do not claim to be a developer... However, by READING, SEARCHING, and TRYING, I've learned some tricks of the trade. One of them has been building from source. All I am doing is putting a few pieces together to make it compile, all the hard work has been done by h8rift and mg2195. Their repos, hard work, and dedication build this ROM - all thanks/credit goes to them as well as the CM and the PA teams. . I test these builds on my own device before any release, but I do not claim it will work for everyone. ALWAYS have a nandroid in case of emergencies. I am NOT responsible for bricked devices or catastrophic failure changelog in second post..
PER-APP-DPI/LAYOUT
This is not tablet mode! Hybrid engine allows you to target apps individually. You get to pick their actual layouts which can tranform content drastically. Keep in mind, this has nothing to do with build.prop hacks or DPI changes. We list all layouts an app brings, you choose one, its as easy as that. It does not matter if your device runs itself in Phone-, Phablet or Tablet-UI, your apps will always look as you like. On top of that you can scale apps, to fit your screen, that way you can even bring full fledged tablet apps and make them run perfectly. Nothing will break, nothing will shrink, your market will be fine. Additionally we have rewritten many parts of the android framework and fixed countless of AOSP bugs to make way for these modifications - our "tablet mode" runs better on a phone than on a real tablet, that is guaranteed.
PER-APP-COLOR
ParanoidAndroid's newest invention. Define apps in your regular hybrid panel. See your phone fade into the color definition of your current app, press home or go elsewhere and it fades back. Create as many combinations you like, you can even dabble with opacity. This feature is made possible by our hybrid engine, which is unique to this rom.

SlimRoms is a custom android operating system. The main goal is to offer users a slimmed down but still feature rich alternative to other android operating systems.
The entire SlimTeam works together to bring you this tailor-made beauty straight from Android Open Source Project (AOSP) source code.
All of the sources can be publicly viewed through GitHub and you can stop by the public Gerrit to submit patches of any type.

Kindly Note: This is an unofficial build, and is at alpha stage. No features have been added YET, and hence it'll feel like pure AOSP with RRO Layers

There's no fcs..just curious why that log show the same errors, anyway some Layers messed here
Just try milos layers, which its works fine on your glade rom, but as you see here on slim???
But for the speed&smoothness..its incomparable to other roms..even its beat my fav rom mokee
