Best camera app and/or settings. - Verizon Droid Charge

I don't know if it's just me or is it difficult to take a nice & clear photo with the Charge? I have young girls and try to capture special moments, they end up blurry.
Any recommendations for an application/settings?

wait till they get older.... j/k
I believe it's more of a hardware thing rather than an app. the shutter speed is only so fast - and even with some apps that take quick bursts, it can still be blurry.
that being said, I have found that Camera ICS (thanks Jihad Squad) to be the best for me. if your phone is rooted, then installing droidwall to block internet on this app will remove the ads.

I haven't tried Camera ICS yet, but in trying to find a camera alternative, I tried many including Camera360 and a bunch of others. But I found stock to be the best (gonna try Camera ICS after this post). It has many good features and options compared to aftermarket. My settings are as follows:
Outdoor visibility: Unchecked
Focus mode: Auto focus
Scene mode: None
Timer: Off
Resolution: 2560x1920
White balance: Auto
Effects: Normal
ISO: Auto
Metering: Matrix
Anti-Shake: Checked
Auto contrast: Checked
Blink detection: Checked
Image quality: Superfine
Guidelines: Checked
Review: Unchecked
Shutter sound: Off
GPS Tag: Unchecked
IMO, the Guidelines and Anti-Shake options are the money options for the stock camera for taking decent pics.

^^^^ These settings and the stock camera are the best above all camera apps I've tried. Thanks!

Hey guys!

Hey guys/gals,
I would like to ask someone or even a couple of you if you could do me a quick favor.
The HTC Thunderbolt has an 8mp camera. I would like someone, to put the camera on its best possible settings, highest quality in everything, with good lighting, and snap a picture.
You can even post it for me if you wish. All im looking for is the file size in which your picture is after it has been saved.
Im just doing a quick study on the 8mp camera phones available, and would like your help....and you help is very appreciated!
Thanks!!!
it is 1.1 MB
Mine ranged from about 1.4 to about 2.8 MB. HTH

Just a little insight I actually find that the thunderbolt has a great camera. My 5 mp camera on my Droid 2 was pretty bad. The pictures were grainy and usually not even worth taking. On this I find myself taking pictures all of the time.

Using the EV+/- control properly will greatly increase the quality of your photos. I have sample shots if your interested...not from your phones, but the feature would work the same on any camera.

Camera/picture quality question?

When I'm looking at the screen before I take a picture its very vibrant and bright and the quality is amazing but when I capture it then view it there allways very dim, anyone have a solution?

I'm experiencing same issue. Just before I close it, it shows in true colors and disappears.
Same thing here. Only seems to do it while I'm using a rom that has the bravia engine though

In most cases, you have to learn how to use the camera. It's not a SLR system. What you see on the screen is not necessarily what you're going to capture. All the settings, and there are many of them... it's a pretty capable camera, in the camera menu are there for a reason. Leaving everything on "auto" is generally not the best way to approach photography. Experience is the best teacher. Learn what ISO, Exposure, White balance, Contrast, Scene mode, and two dozen other parameters do. It will help you get a great shot when you need one.
are the pictures affected? i'd assume not if everything on auto setting as mentioned above.
I played with the settings still dim pictures

Try increasing the brightness of the display. It should make the pictures look alot better.

I believe you may have misread the question. I think he is speaking of the brightness of the actual image, not it appearance in the gallery. The images are still dark when dumped to a computer. I believe the poster above has it correct to alter settings.
There is information in various reviews online that state that the camera functions well at either high or really low levels of light. If there is SOME light you're out of luck. I find this to be true with mine

The poster did not state that. He simply said it was dim when viewing it. I honestly had the same problem. Taking a picture and seeing how nice it looked but then when I went to look at it in the gallery it was dim. So I tried turning the brightness of the display up alil bit, it looked just as bright when I initially took the picture.

Oh I see. That picture is actually good tho. Here is one I took last weekend. The room was really really bright. The camera sensor on our phones need a decent amount of light for the picture to come out bright.
Sent from my White Skyrocket in Space
I only experience the issue when viewing in the Gallery, or immediately after taking the shot. When I turn auto-brightness off" they look exactly the same as they did on screen. As for dumping to the computer, I am not 100% but all of the ones uploaded to FB have been fine.
Yeah they ain't too great in dark rooms. But those pics look great. I compared some of my pics with my wife's 4s. She had to take the same pic several times to get it to show the detail mine showed with 1 shot

[App]ICS Camera

I was browsing the LG Nitro HD forum this morning and in one of the threads somebody mentioned this app so I checked it out and am digging it so I thought I'd share.
The app is called Camera ICS, according to the developer it's an improved version of the official camera app in ICS.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5tb2JseW54LmNhbWVyYWljcyJd
Features
- Color effects (mono,sepia,negative,...)
- Silent mode (no shutter sound, might not work on some devices)
- Picture quality setting (low/medium/high/ultra)
- Video bitrate selection (normal/2x)
- Video stabilization on/off (only 4.0)
- 720p face effects (only 4.0)
- Panorama mode and time-lapse video on Honeycomb tablets
It's not a perfect camera app but for some of us it's perfect for our use. Like me. If I want or need something better then I'll bust out my DSLR. I like it and now use it as my daily camera app. I've done very little testing...taken some pics with this app compared to stock app, recorded a quick video with both and here's my opinion so far:
Faster focus
Better video recording
Less time between shots
Fewer options
No full screen viewfinder
Have to double tap pics to view them full screen
But other than that, it's lovely and fits perfectly with my ICS themed phone.
Trying now
Edit: LOVING THiS CAMERA....try it out

Not gonna lie bro....when u said this I tested it on mine and my previous camera app opened (zoomfx). I closed that then opened ics camera, closed that then pressed the camera button again and ics camera opened up. Not sure why but no complaints.
**Edit**
Tested again, stock camera app came up but fc'd and the ics camera immediately came up. I went to manage apps and cleared data for the stock camera app, froze the stock camera app, now its all good.

Yes sir....it doesn't have drag to focus but does have tap to focus....tap the shutter button, it'll focus and take the pic. And it focuses quick too.
I tried this a few weeks ago and thought it was awful. The stock 2.3.6 is much better than ZOOMfx or this ICS one.

Thats the lovely thing about the Market, u have plenty to choose from. We all have different needs/expectations so its nice to have options......I have used stock, CameraZoomFX, Camera360.....I prefer ICS Camera for its faster focus, better quality pics and overall speed. It's also not bloated with a bunch of features I don't need so for me its perfect.

Ah, there it is . And right you are, it focuses very quickly.
I think this could be my default camera. Panoramic mode is flawless, and although it has ads... well, that's why we have a hosts file . There's only one more thing that bothers me - barely any integration with the default gallery. I think that the default gallery is actually quite functional and has a bunch of settings that are lost when using this app.

Glad you like 'em. QuickPic is my favorite app of all
QuickPick is indeed great.
I actually think that, while ICS Camera is definitely better than the stock 2.3.4 camera, the improvements with the 2.3.6 camera outdo it. With the stock camera it focuses very quickly especially in low light, and although the theme isn't as pleasant on the eyes it is more configurable. Additionally, the video recording capabilities of ICS Camera are very limited. If you take a video in portrait, it is skewed, stretched, and cropped to be in landscape. Also since I'm on 2.3.6 and I haven't edited my hosts file the camera's ads are pretty annoying.
Just my opinion but I'm sticking with stock.

All very good points. This app isn't for everybody, it all depends what your needs are. For me, it's perfect and is now my daily camera app.

i recently downloaded hdr camera+ and found it to be really great compared to stock camera app. it gives pictures with more saturated colors and more contrast while earlier they used to be dull.

Ones I've looked at:
ProCapture & Camera Zoom FX - Straightforward, some extra customazation in the form of exposure settings in the former and effects in the latter
Camera FV-5 - The closest you'll get to a DSLR in terms of manual settings
Night Camera - Optimized for low light shots
HDR camera - The title says it all
Camera Streak - Lightpainting!
Fast Burst Camera - Shoot tens of exposure per seconds, great for action/sports
Haven't tried half of those yet though
I have camera zoomFX and its great. My pics have the same amount of detail as my friends GS2

Best camera app for the GSIII?

I know that we have plenty of camera apps out there, but I'm concerned about them not being optimized enough for specific devices. I've been pretty disappointed with the stock JB camera, so what is the most impressive app with the most features in the Play Store?
I think the stock camera is awesome. If there was someway to implement it into jelly beans ROMs that would be awesome. All the camera apps on the market are horrible in my opinion.

I'd mainly like something with HDR capabilities and exposure compensation. Taking the photos with a hardware button is also a huge plus.

try camera fv-5 it costs $5 on the android market but it allows you to save the picture as a png format so it shows the true power of the 8 mp snapper. if you know picture formats you will realize that the android camera saves as a jpg which compresses the photo and basically your 8mp snapper becomes like a 1mp snapper but this app saves as a png which is the raw picture format so it shows the true power of this camera.
