[APP][4.x] Mobile MusicDB

This is a hobby project of mine that I started a few months ago; being an owner of a synology nas I really liked the idea of being able to listen to my music everywhere but I didn't like the way DS Audio works, so I started out developing a html5/css/js based music player for the browser, which I called JSMusicDB.
The project was a success but not on all mobiles, no html5 audio is far from done, so I started working on a Phonegap build and Mobile MusicDB was born.
Current features:
- Plays local stored music from internal and external SD
- Plays personal cloud stored music from Nasses and personal servers*
- Only streams from the personal cloud if the song is not found on your phone
- Artist and Album art are pulled from last.fm (only once; art files will be stored on your main sd card in the folder 'org.arielext.mobilemusicdb'
- Recently played / Letter / Artist and Album view
- Scrobble to last.fm with use of Simple LastFM scrobbler (can be found in the play store)
- Lockscreen support (undergoing testing)
- Notification support
Planned features before releasing v1.0 to the play store:
- Resume playback (optional)
Planned features after v1.0:
- Store and retrieve playlists to and from the cloud/phone.
- download music from the cloud to the android device
- upload music to the cloud from the android device
- delete music from the android device
The app is in beta, and to opt-in you need to part of the google+ group https://plus.google.com/communities/106681483665932810490, I'll update the app regularly and with your help try to make it as bugfree as possible
* To be able to stream from a personal server/nas please visit the google+ group; it contains a step by step howto. If you just want to use it as a music player, press skip in the set-up window.

version 0.1.2 is out for the beta testers.
New:
- Showing top tracks (most played) in overview
Bugfix(es):
- Fixed 'double letter active' bug in letter change view

0.3 adds Lockscreen support, but it will require some testing before I can make it final.
Due to lockscreen support all Android version < 4.0 are not supported anymore.

0.3.5 is posted to the store; this updates the following:
- kitkat support
- temp. removed gapless playback
- added wakelock in order to allow background playback on low memory devices
- fixed an issue that more instances of Mobile MusicDB could be present
- overal stability

0.4.5 is released on the app store.
The 0.4 series include a new and battery friendly way of handling the lockscreen support and the app will stop playback when you unplug your headset!

And 0.5.x is here, which fixes the following issues:
- album art lost since 0.5
- unknown artist/meta data on the lockscreen
and adds the following:
- able to play cloud based music from a synology server (nodejs is NOT needed, though JSMusicDB is).
Both issues should be fixed now and with the added functionality to connect a synology server the 1.0 release is near! Things that need to be done before I can officially release the 1.0 version:
- Handling of the backbutton is way to slow atm
- Resume playback (as an options in the settings window)
- Bringing back the animations
- Bringing back the gapless playback

Just downloaded the pro-version, but just reclaimed my money. It had difficulties to log in, and no posibility to have a folder view. You should make it a trial-app: pay after a month or so, so that one can try it.

Very sorry guys, i was very busy last months... I uped a new release yesterday, with full material redesign, and some transitions. Hope that you enjoy it.

Hi. First of all, great work! :good: It's a nice app (visually and conceptually). Anyway, I have some opinions and suggestions.
The app don't synchronize the album covers very well. I have a folder with 906 songs and it only downloaded the cover of a Franz Ferdinand's song.

The memory consumption is a little high, almost the double that other player (GoneMAD is a music player full of unused options).

I miss some options like Ticker notifications, Inactivity timer, lyrics viewer, sort songs by artist and delete songs directly from the app.

Hi Llamero. Thanks for your report! I 'll try to get working all these suggestion..(maybe the next thing will be a playing song screen). App syncronizes de cover of first song that has metada in the album. It costs lots of resources/time each ask for last.fm API. And yes, i have to clean the code in order to consume less memory

I was looking for a simple music player and this is a really good option.
I'm using since last 2 weeks and can tell....
1- Didn't found a way to delete a playlist not a track inside it (Opened a folder and later deleted some tracks, they are still there... No way to remove them.)
2- Sometimes player pauses itself when passing to next song, then I have to press "pause" button in order to continue, it's pretty annoying (can be something with my phone?).
3- A timer function could be nice.
I'm using Lollipop 5.1.1, CM 12.1 in a Galaxy S3.

Best app to download YouTube videos and background audio?

Similar threads are ages old. YouTube is supposed to support background and screen-off playback now, at least for official music videos, but it doesn't for me (I'm also an All Access subscriber which makes it doubly odd). As soon as I hit the multitask button or turn the display off, playback stops.
So ya, now that Pvstar+ is gone, what's the best app for YouTube video downloading and background audio (audio for normal videos, I don't care about music, I can do that in the google music app)? Preferably one that let's you select the quality to download.

Its not on the play store, do you know where to get the most current apk?

OK I got it, but same problem as the regular YouTube app. Says background playback is a feature, but playback stops if I multitask or turn the screen off.

check in settings if off screen playback set up to work with external sources only

Pulse is a customise able simplistic music player that includes all the basic features of what you would expect in a music player and a few more.

Hi, firstly I cannot work out how to scan my music folder on the extsd, and not select every random ring tone folder. (How does the blacklist/white list thing work?)
Secondly, when I manually select an mp3 from my music folder I get an error message.
Perhaps you could guide me a little?

Suggestion: make the now playing view with the album as background less dark. It's hard to see it in the sun

Thanks for the positive feedback.
I will surely listen to your suggestion about making the Now playing album art less dark. And I will also look into the EQ problem, but it may be difficult to track down as I don't have access to MIUI phone, but I will try to Google it
