[Q] HELP please Xoom in self reboot - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Problem 1 - When trying to connect to wireless internet xoom reboots itself. i changed the wireless password settigns to better suit the xoom and no change. when i want to connect to the internet i have to factory reset the xoom each time! Not fun. Any ideas?
Problem 2 - i am stuck on android version 3.2 i want to upgrade the OS to ICS (preferably) but each time i go to the 'system updates' it says that the device is up to date.
Model Number MZ604
Build Number H.6.6-27
Can anyone help me with either of my problems?

Have you done factory reset from settings or hard way ( from android recovery after bootup) ???
Try the hard way might help...
Are you having reboots when watching movies, playing games etc (when havily using tablet) ?
If it happens after hard reset it might be hardware fault, call motorola and arrange service, they might help you.
I was experiencing self-reboots from begining and update to ICS didnt helped so just sent it to service, they replaced motherboard and its great since.
Good Luck!

[Q] Hero trackball/pc connection problems

Hai people,
Im new here and i got a problem with my HTC Hero. Ive got it rooted to FroydVillain through this site and it worked fine for quite a while. But since thursday my phone flipped.
My trackball keeps lighted on, whatever i do. My battery runs low in like 6 hours...normally i did a whole day with it.
When i plug the usb cable it doesnt connect to my computer, it only starts powering up the battery. If its connected with my usb cable and i remove the battery the trackball starts flickering instead off burning all the time.
I didnt know what was going on, so i tried to do a nand restore in the root menu. After that i still had problems with the trackball and it still doesnt connect to my pc. Then i tried a factory reset in the root menu, but the problems are still there.
It doesnt let me get into the mobile network settings either. It doesnt find my provider and cant change it, so at the moment my whole phone is useless
Im quite new with this whole rooting thing, so i might have messed it up now? I hope some people know a solution for this. Please dont throw to geeky stuff to me, because i might not understand it
My software settings are this according to the phone:
Firmwareversion: 2.1 update1
Smallbandversion: 63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.11
Kernel-version: 2.6.29-063c4d24 htc-kernel(at)and18-2 #1
Build number: 3.32.405.2 CL 191507 release-keys
Softwarenumber: 3.32.405.2
Browserversion: webkit 3.1
Any help is welcome! Thanks in advance
I have tried to fix it myself cause i didnt get any responds yet, but without succes. I got it to restart again in the original htc version, and get the setup menu where u can set your country, wifi connection etc...
It doesnt recognize my sim card though, and doesnt find a provider because of that. When its finished with the setup menu its at the 'normal' home screen. But as soon as it turns black as the screen saver i cant get the screen on again.
The trackball also still keeps burning.
I went to my local phone repair point, but they dont do androids :S its for nerds he said -_-
Im getting hopeless...plx could some1 tell me what to do. I want a whole reset off the phone...i dont care losing information on it. But because i cant connect it with my computer i have no idea how to flash a rom on it

[Q] Re install an update

Does anyone know of a way to reinstall an update?
I have the latest version of mango for my dell venue pro and would like to just reinstall the update on top of the current update.
Is this possible?
I didn't seen an option in zune to do it.
Thanks,
So is there any way to go back an update then? I reset my phone but it still says i have mango installed.
Might i ask, why are you trying to reinstall the update?
and have you tried to do a hard reset of the device?
Added Picture--v
Settings > About > Reset Your Phone
yes i have hard reset the device, but it still says i have the same version.
The reason is, I'm having 3g problems and DELL told me i have to reinstall the latest update before they would help any further.
I guess i could just lie to them and say i did. idk, dell = dumb
After Hard-Reset, You're still having issues with 3g?
What kind of issues?
-- I'm not the most technical person when it comes to WP7, but I sure as hell don't mind helping someone if possible.
I'm currently doing some research for you.
I dont have a data connection when i'm connected with a 3g signal. Like i can have 1 bar or 5 and it wont connect. I just reset it a few hours ago so i haven't had a lot of time to play with it, (stupid boss expects me to do work at work for some silly reason)
It happens about 60 or 70 percent of the time. Its supper annoying. I normally have to go to settings and disable my 3g connection and re enable it or restart my phone for it to work.
Have you previously, or currently done a "break" on the device? If so, what kind?
whats a "break"
Interop break, jailbreak, etc...
ps. only way i could find to "reinstall" the os... is doing a hard-reset.
yeah thats what i came up with. Well I'll just see how it runs now that i reset it.
Thanks
No problem, wish I could help further.

Need help to revive an old, but functional PB G100W

I got this tablet (Packard Bell G100w) from a friend who moved to a newer one.
I did the error to reset it to factory settings.
Now I have a perfectly functional tablet I cannot update in any way.
Problem is it constantly tries to connect to GoogleTalk (which does not exist anymore and I don't know how to uninstall) and it seems unable to contact a working PlayStore server (probably because servers/protocols changed in the meantime; this means I cannot install new apps).
I understand this tablet has the same hardware as Asus A500, so I saw advice to use A500 to reflash my device. Before I do some other stupid mistake I would like serious advice.
What I want to do is to be able to use this tablet for casual use (mainly to access the Internet and run navigation/mapping apps) nothing fancy.
Can someone point me in the right direction, please?
Thanks in Advance
Zio

Need help fixing friend's Android tablet

My buddy dropped off his android tablet because it had a bunch of malware, one of which was a porn app. I've factory reset the device both through the settings menu and using the power and volume buttons but as soon as the device connects to the internet the apps come back, this is before we even input a google account into the play store. I don't have a lot of experience with android but I am tech savvy so I'm hoping you guys can help me out.
I'm guessing the malware has replaced some default system apps and maybe I need to reflash the device but I'm not sure how to go about doing that or which ROM is the correct one for this tablet. I ran malwarebytes and it found a lot of problems but when I try to clean them off it keeps saying the uninstall fails. The tablet is a cheap Digiland DL801W. Thanks in advance!
Fixed!
So you tried to factory reset in recovery mode, but nothing fixed this problem, So you need to Flash Your tablet through Odin, of course depending what tablet your friend have if its a Samsung tablet you should use Odin, if you need help in flashing your tablet feel free to contact me on whatsapp: +96170211236

[Help Needed] My Shield K1 has been hacked

Hello there,
First of all i have to warn you that i am a kind of a complete newbie about most things you are talking about in this forum. So please, be indulgent.
Also, i'm french, so english is not my mother tongue but, i'll do my best, i promise
I have knowledge in computing but not very much on tablets, phones, etc...
Here's what have happened to me.
Some months ago, i was looking at my tablet (Nvidia shield K1) when suddently it litteraly comes alive without me doing anything.
As i've some computing knowledge it was obvious that someone else was controling the tablet.
So i swith it off using the turn off button. Then i swith off all my network (router and modem), switch back on the tablet and disconnected it from the network. Then i turn back on the network.
The tablet was not anymore linked to the network.
So i start searching trying to figure out what was the problem.
But, as i said my knowledge with these devices is not very good.
This is were my memories are not really accurate as this happened to me a few months ago.
I first decide to ask some help to some people with a much better knowlegde than mine. I gave them the tablet but, they gave it back to me saying that there was no problem. They even upgraded the OS from Android 6 to Android 8 by downloading the update.
So i thought my problems were over but, in fact, they were not.
When i get back my tablet i tried to go again on the internet and didn't succed.
Once i have entered the password for my network, the network appears to be registred but i can't log on it..
So i started to search again for the cause of the problem, after a few hours, i found on the SD card 2 files that weren't here the last time i took a look.
These two files were named :
- Cryptokey
- Systemcrypto
Can't remember their extension....
So, from this point, i knew the solution of the problem was out of my reach as there was probably somewhere inside the tablet some corrupted datas.
This is where i definitely made a big mistake.
First i made a hard reset of the tablet with no results.
Second i have formated the SD card where two files were saved...
Now, i own a tablet with which i can't connect to the internet at home. But, i m quite sure that if i want to connect to another network than mine, it will work. As the guy to whom i asked help first succed to connect to his network and do the update to Android 8.
So, if anyone has an idea of what could i have to do to get back a working tablet, i would appreciate.
Many thanks for reading.
Have a nice day.
Listen I’m not like really good when it come to hacking or anything but I do know that in order to hack android you either need to A, be tricked somehow into downloading and installing some malicious apk or B, someone needs to have physical possession of your device for a short time. Anyone who knows more please correct me if I’m wrong. I think some of those apps for hacking android can survive a factory reset also. But your problem sounds different than just that. It won’t connect to a WiFi network? Try a different network is what I would think to do first.
Hi
I also dont think your device got hacked like @messymatthew already told either you need to install a malicious apk yourself or someone did it with physical access.
But your main problem atm is that you cant connect to your wifi at home which leads me to the question which android 8 rom you have installed right now ?
Or is it the last official oem 5.4 rom which is android 7. In this case its maybe a problem with the PMF function of your Router.
If thats not the case you have two options:
You install the factory recovery image you can find here :
Tablet Recovery images
For this you need to download the right image for your tablet (LTE, K1)
Then follow this instructions :
Instructions - Adb needed
Or you install a Custom Recovery like TWRP you find here :
TWRP - Custom Recovery - Adb and OEM Unlock needed
After this you can install a custom recovery like LineageOS.
Maybe you interested in my unofficial version of the last official 15.1 (android 8.1) which should fit your needs if you want use it as a normal Tablet with monthly security updates.
Scavenger87 - Unofficial LineageOS 15.1
Hello,
Sorry for late reply.
Many thanks to both of you.
EDIT : Forgot to tell you that you are right, my tablet works with Android 7 not 8.
I have tried to connect straight to my modem (so not runnig through my router) and i succeed.
So it seems you are right there is a problem with my new router ASUS GT-AX 11000.
I'm gonna try the solution you are suggesting to me and will keep you posted.
Hello,
@Scavenger87 Many thanks for the help you provide.
You were right, it was the PMF function settings that were blocking my tablet to join the network.
Now, everything is working smoothly
Wish you a very nice day.
