I was trying to get the kd1 modem on my phone, but it caused my phone to start force closing everything. i had to reinstall the ext converter and then bionix, but once i finished doing this, the phone is stuck on the galaxy s screen. i can't even get into recovery mode. i know i need to use odin, but i do not know how to use it. is there any quick way to fix this? i need this phone to be fixed tomorrow because i have an interview!!! i know that there are other threads out there, but i cant seem to find them (search is down from 1230??) and i need a quick answer. thanks so much
quick fix = odin. it's not hard to use, just read the thread.

To ODIN, hold down both the UP and DOWN volume buttons until a screen which says "downloading" comes up.
Once that comes up, connect the phone and proceed to flash KD1 Deodexed. If you need a fast download link, go to http://cyclopscomputers.com/gs4g
I'll have a fast download link for it within the next ten minutes. Either that, or go here and download it.
For an ODIN guide, look here.
If you have any questions you can PM or email me at [email protected]

You don't have access to any parts required for the JIG do you?
I believe this is the correct guide.

Note, the faster download link is now posted on my site, http://www.cyclopscomputers.com/gs4g. It's listed as KD1 by Whitehawkx.

Ah yeah, I didn't really think you would, 99% of us don't :\
er....take out your SIM and memory card.
take out the battery, leave it for a few seconds, and put it back in.
Then try to get into download mode again, with only the battery in.
wont get into download mode no matter what I do. this is just bad timing for me. i tried to use odin, and even though it recognizes the phone, it is stuck on "SetupConnection" and wont do anything else.

It usually does that when either a SIM or an SD card is in.
Remove both, put yourself into download mode again, and restart ODIN.
right. i removed both the sim and the sd card. then i left the battery off for a few minutes and attempted to restart and go into download mode. the only thing that happens is that the phone shows the galaxy s 4g startup screen and then reboots...always cycling that screen. thanks for all of the help, btw. i really appreciate it.

"it is stuck on "SetupConnection""
yes, it says that in odin. but its still stuck on the galaxy s 4g startup screen. i never got into download mode.

For the phone to say that in ODIN, it has to be in download mode.
It's quite possible that the phone is in download mode yet the screen doesn't say it.

The nexus s is pretty hard to permanently brick, but can be a pain depending how bad it is. This time was bad for me. I had already flashed the ics update and flashed superuser zip and all was fine except Google wallet. I uninstalled it with titanium but had second thoughts , so I decided to flash the update again. I know better but just wasn't thinking. The update was from 2.3.6 to 4.0 and since I was already on 4.0 it really screwed it up. It wouldn't do anything absolutely nothing. Apparently the bootloader , boot, and recovery images were completely gone. I did some searching and found unbrickable resurrector. Only problem was it only worked on Linux. So I had to make my laptop duel boot Ubuntu and windows. Ubuntu for unbrickable resurrector and windows for adb/fastboot. Although it sounds rather easy it took about 2 days till I finally figured it all out. I could probably do it now in 30 minutes. And a jig would most likely work but I wouldn't know where to get one. Anyway the resurrector allowed me to boot into fastboot mode and adb/fastboot allowed me to reflash the lost images. Thank God that's over!

Hi all,
My Samsung Galaxy phone is stuck on the Samsung boot up logo. I shut off the phone and it starts up again to the Samsung logo again. I am rooted but still had the stock rom and kernel.
I went to selections and wiped my cache and tried to format it like a new phone. The same thing still happens. I am not sure what else to do. Anyone know how to fix this?
Keep the instructions simple please, if you do know. (I'm a desperate noob)
Thanks for any help.
IF you ever did nandroid than just restore that otherwise.........
Hey first follow this steps to flash any rom. If you flash the rom properly than you can use any stock rom from dev section and use that.
OR
follow this step to go back to stock and it will unroot you.

Same Problem
My problem is that my Rogers SGSII LTE I727R, is stuck on the logo screen, which is flashing the boot screen. When I connect the USB (even after install of Kies and Odin), my PC does not see the device. I am really not sure what to do. I think I set the wrong phone ID when I installed recovery (I think I was supposed to use the T-Mobil SGSII setting), but I selected something else. I then tried to backup the existing ROM, and am now in this unending loop. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
Follow these steps it will help you go back to stock. ANd reroot your phone.

Try another USB port or another computer. If you can get the logo you are in a boot loop, the most common form of a soft brick. If you can get into download mode you should be able to fix it.

Can you get into download mode? Hold the two volume buttons down, then plug the usb cable into your phone, then you should be in download mode.
I cannot get into download mode. I just keep getting the flashing boot screen, with the corresponding vibration.

Don't panic. If you're in a boot loop it's fixable. It's when you get nothing that you need to worry about a hard brick.
Try the button combo mentioned above to get into download mode. If that doesn't work, pull the battery again and try using just the volume down button button--I've heard people say this worked for them when they had a hard time.
If this doesn't get you into download mode, I guarantee you that a jig will work. You can buy one online or make one yourself for about 75 cents and a cut-up data cable (I had a car charger that I didn't need--car charges the phone through USB port, so I cut that one up). Always good to have a jig, at any rate...

I flashed a few roms and lost my 4G. When I reloaded my ICS OS to root66 via Odin I messed something up and am now stuck at 4G LTE load screen. I am hoping there is a way to cold boot into recovery mode (not Odin flash mode) so I can just do a factory reset. If there is no way to do that I am open to suggestions. I have re-loaded the root66 image 4 times and loaded a stock image twice to no avail. Thank you in advance to any help I get.

Is there a way to mark the thread as resolved or do we just let it die?
you can ask a mod to close it if you want.
Re-loaded my root66 and it booted fine again... now if I can just get my 4G back.
If you go through the setup wizard on a touchwiz rom it should say your phone is activated and 4g should come back.

Have you tried booting into download or recovery mode? Here's how http://www.knowtechbetter.net/how-t...-download-mode-on-samsung-galaxy-s3-tutorial/
If you can get into download mode I would odin back to stock and then use this tool to root, unlock the bootloader, and flash a custom recovery.

As for why your phone won't turn on or anything I'm not really sure. My best guess would to take out the battery and plug the phone in without the battery to see if anything happens, and then put the battery back in.

There are options here.
Use this method, but you need a class 10 external SD card with the exact same size as your internal card, and you need to follow the directions exactly, it should work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45595912
Other option is you can send it into somebody for a jtag repair, mobile tech videos will do it for $60 I think, either way you go you won't be buying a new phone.

It was a guess suggestion. I would try booting into download mode or any mode with the battery out. But if you can get something to happen to show you're phone isn't completely broken I would leave the battery in and just let in charge for a little while.
Can you get to the charging animation the phone makes it's charging while it's off?
And have your tried putting the battery back in while the red light is on?
(again these are just suggestions, I've only soft bricked my phone twice so idk if it will work for you)

My last idea would be to just try different combinations of having the battery in and out, when you put it back in, having it plugged into the wall and computer, and trying to boot into any of the 3 boot modes. Otherwise I have no idea, but when in doubt just try everything.
