[Q] Arabic Keyboard - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey I'm still noob and still figuring out the side effects of flashing a custom rom.
one of big question in my head right now .. will i lose Arabic keyboard if i switched CM10 for example?
and if i switched to this custom rom and depend on custom roms for the rest of my life .. will i still be vulnerable to brick bug?
Thanks in advance

Hi there,
I don't know about custom roms, but I flashed an official update that is not designated to Arabic countries, and yes, I lost my Arabic keyboard. big deal? No, because this is Android, I just installed GO keyboard which has Arabic support ,and the problem is solved.

wooow, I didn't know there's a keyboard to choose from
what about encoding, does facebook arabic posts appears
and if i installed a custom rom(CM 10) will i lose my 3g connection or it's just the GPS so far?

am using SwiftKey keyboard and it supports Arabic with prediction
posts in Arabic are well displayed from my Hongkong galaxy tab running official tgy ics.
i don't think you can hold on custom roms for good, you'll switch back after a while, and then you will flash another flavor, and then back to stock,...

okay, if all the problems in the custom rom is GPS and HDMI dongle, then it's okay to me.
now that i know arabic is well supported in any rom.
why i would use ICS when i can use jelly bean with the latest update and it's almost butter smooth in pandroid

not as buter smooth as other devices. Exynos chips aren't fully supported by project butter till an official update from Samsung to jelly bean.

[Q] ICS ROM for Samsung Galaxy S

Hi Forum
I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000 which is out of warranty. As is known to most, Samsung is most likely not going to come out with an ICS upgrade to this model.
I live in India and travel frequently to the UK, and am therefore looking for a stable ICS ROM that will work on my phone and render the phone usable in India and the UK. I did try with a Cynogen Mod 9 ROM for the i9000 which worked in the UK, but the moment I landed in India, the SIM refused to register with the GSM network in India. My IMEI number also changed when I flashed my phone with this ROM.
Currently, my phone was brought back to a working condition with a Samsung Android 2.1 ROM, but this ROM is really bad and makes my phone freeze frequently.
I am looking forward to some advice from the XDA Forum members to point me to a stable ICS ROM that I can download and flash my phone with, so that the phone works in India.

There are no stable ICS roms for GS2 yet (at least from Cyanogenmod) but they have a gingerbread one (which is better than the 2.1 you have ;P )
Here: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=galaxys2
Anyway, I suggest you stay out of ICS until they make a stable ROM. Port only if you can help develop it
Thanks For the reply. However, I am looking for an update for the Galaxy S. I do not have an S2. My Galaxy S has been sparingly used and I think it has at least a year left in it.

Ooooops I'm really sorry about that. here's the link for the stable CM7 build for the Galax S:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=galaxysmtd
I suggest you use this for the mean time while waiting for the ICS Cyanogen
I would prefer that you use the rom from team icssgs RC4.2 (4.0.3)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398223
I had cyanogen mod 7 installed but was not very happy with it.
So try it out.
Faryaab is also doing a good job. You should check this out : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1628028
I tried ICS Custom Rom from Darky. It worked fine to my SGS1 without any problem. You can try it.
But I already changed to the latest one Jellybean Custom Rom from C-Rom Bean. I find this better in terms of graphics and Google applications.

Samsung Galaxy S2 (Sprint)

Hey, i'm new to this forum so bare with me if i break any rules. Well yersterday i was lucky and happy to get ICS upgrage or update from sprint, for my Samsung Galaxy S2 sph-d710 (Sprint) Maybe cz am new to all of this but my software version Android says (4.0.4) Baseband Version (S710.10.S.FF18) as seen on the attached picture. Now here is the problem, My phone's software doesn't look like other ics, now i don't know that maybe this is how the Sprint version looks or, it just doesn't have all that ics theme or whatever it still looks like gingerbread only running ics but without most of the ics features. (Sorry i don't know much about this & English is my 4th language) so i've attached some pictures of how my phone looks, hope i'll get the answer to this.
Thank You in Advance,
Tizzo009
Nope, that's ICS. It's just Touchwiz running on top. If you want stock ICS, I suggest flashing CyanogenMod 9. For now just install Nova Launcher.

Galaxy Note 10.1 Version Rom and Root

Hello I am from Europe and i want to buy a Galaxy Note 10.1
But in Europe we have 2 versions the N8000 (wifi + 3g) and the N8010 (wifi).
I wanted to know if its possible to flash a N8000 rom on an N8010. They have both the same hardware but one is missing a 3g function.
So for rooting, flashing and development reasons does it matter witch version of the device I buy?
Thanks in advance
The answer is yes, you can flash most 8000 roms onto a 8010 device, but it usually causes some bugs to appear (which are usually fixable, but you will need to do some research to fix them).
If you're planning on buying a 8010 and rooting it to install a jellybean rom, I would recommend installing this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046446. I installed it a few days ago, and it's been working great for me so far .

Just so you know, I originally bought an 8010. I have now upgraded to the 8000. I don't often make use of the 3G capability, but I want it to be there if I need it.
Also I've noticed that development for the 8000 seems to be a lot more active. So think carefully before you get the 8010

Official Jelly Bean for the SGS2 Skyrocket?

Samsung announced that there were several devices other than the S3 (their latest) that will get Jelly Bean update.
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_announces_list_of_devices_that_will_get_jelly_bean-news-4853.php
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/SupportOwnersFAQPopup.do?faq_id=FAQ00050212&fm_seq=55187 This is mostly for the S3 series.
Code:
The list includes the following devices:
Galaxy Tab 2 7.0
Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
Galaxy Note 10.1
Galaxy S II
Galaxy Note
Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus
Galaxy S Advance
Galaxy S II LTE
Galaxy Music
Galaxy Chat
Galaxy Ace 2
I8530 Galaxy Beam
Galaxy Ace Plus
Galaxy Mini II
Galaxy S Duos
It was announced by Samsung that these devices will also get official jelly bean. As for if our devices will officially get it we don't know. Our phone is considered Galaxy S II LTE but we dont know yet as our phone is also labeled Skyrocket and there is also an international version labeled Galaxy S II LTE. But if the original Galaxy S II will get it there is a good chance we will also get it but that all depends on Samsung -> ATT.
On the better side we are on the list on CM10 M2 that were released yesterday and so far 4.1.2 has been really good, may have minor kinks here and there but so far its good for a daily driver. So if you want to test drive Jelly Bean you can try out the various builds in the developmental forums. There is the CM10 and AOKP then theres various customized ROMs by other users where they tweak it even more for a better jelly bean experience. :good:
Based on the list here: http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/manufacturer.php?m=101 I can't find the international SII LTE, and based on the specs I found online, it looks like our phone (dual core, where doesn't the international version (whatever it's called) have 4?).
I have heard sometime in Q4, which means any time before the end of the year. That said, CM10 has official nightlies for our phone and AOKP has what should be considered an official build as well. Both work well, as do any of the many builds out there based on those.

The i9210 is the international version and labelled officially as Galaxy S2 LTE the specs are really similar to the skyrocket but not exactly the same for example CPU is the same maker and speed but slight different model. The size of the phone is slightly different and they have the international design for button placement (2 touch buttons one home button in the center which they made standard with the S3 rather than having different designs) so we may or may not get it officially but I wouldn't fret too much about it as we already have a working build.

Were you looking for JellyBean or were you looking for TouchWiz? As many have mentioned, the SkyRocket already has an official CM10 ( JellyBean).
I think you might be asking for an official TouchWiz JellyBean ROM. I would hope to see Samsung leaks for a TWJB ROM soon.
No official word for our device yet.

I think he meant official Samsung ROM, not CM10. I'm to looking forward to get JB official ROM if it's ever coming out.
I love NFC so having a custom ROM wont do it for me, if NFC is available on one of the custom JB ROM ill give it a try.

NFC is a hardware function. Every ROM I've tried has it built in, as long as the hardware supports it.
I can confirm that it works on SlimBean. I transferred several pictures to my mom's S3 via NFC.

Thank you for the info. I know some Skyrocket ROMS that dont have NFC working (according to the builder). But will give a try to SlimBean.

[Q] Possible to install android kitkat from another country on Galaxy Tab 2 3G?

Hi,
I'm trying to help a friend who has a Galaxy Tab 2 GT-P5100 3G 10.1
Her tablet is having some software issues, so I looked in Sammobile and found out that the firmware from her country (Egypt) is only 4.0.4
and for the same tablet in the UK section is 4.2.2
So, my question is, if I install for her a software which is meant for another country, is that gonna be a problem?
If the tablet was 4G, then installing the UK version would be bad idea because the 4G won't work, but it's 3G only as I mentioned.
I also know from my S4 that kitkat comes with special security software + knox of course (I think so!), so downgrading is out of the question, so I don't want to do wrong by her.
The tab is not rooted
Thanks guys for the input!
You should be able to flash an aosp kk rom with no issue as long as its for the p5100

Thank you very much :good:
I forgot to mention that the version for BTU in the UK section is only 4.0.3 and only O2 has 4.2.2
so obviously I chose O2
I'm downloading it as we speak
