The issue is either your adb or driver is not working correctly. Make sure your pc can see your device correctly and also usb debug and unknow app, both are enabled in settings.

Hey there, i've got the same problem, it seems the job is harder using Windows, so im currently downloading Ubuntu and going to run it inside windows using this http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/windows-installer , then im going to try this guide, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198303 , will let you know how it goes, 5 mins remaining of my Ubuntu download =)
Have rooted and unroot my tf with nvflash, very easy and simple to do. All there is to it is to connect usb, install nv flash device run bat file wait 5 min and done
-sent from my trans1
I would start by checking if your TF is not one of the latest "unrootable" batch... serial numbers beginning with B70/B80...

Right, that's the way to start. In my opinion, this is the best and easiest possibility to root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185104
Would this be the serial if so is it compatible?? Thanks

No, look at the bottom of tab, to the right of the charging port, should start with B60 or B70 or B80.
If its a B70 or B80 rooting will be more lengthy process.
As I can see you've got a WW version just like me,down there is a link for rootkit, which is easy to use. The only problem is that I deleted the stock boot.img but the other is working perfectly (which is containing the CWM), it's a windows rootkit, and you just have to put your device into APX mode power button+vol-up for 3 secs, start the rootkit and it will say you what to do.

I've got a B70!!!
Is it still possible...

I have a problem. I just got my Android a couple of days ago and I really badly want to root it. I've tried multiple different programs and with each one the problem I get is "Waiting for device" in the cmd/terminal (Tried on multiple platforms: Vista, Win7, Ubuntu). I've tried installing drivers too and still didn't work (maybe the wrong drivers?).
Yes I realize that I am a "noob", but I really need some help here.
Got USB Debugging enabled ??
Got the correct upto date drivers ?
You navigated to the right location in ADB ??

bumpp someone help?
Well Redownload the drivers and see if that helps, You could try Hasoon2000's All In One Kit to help with this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604677
As for ADB, (Android Debug Bridge) you should have this already, You need it to get unlock the bootloader and flash superboot (root) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583427
Be sure to check out those links and also look at my FAQ section http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24884624&postcount=3
I have all the files that it says are necessary to unlock the bootloader. It's just when I type "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" it just sits there saying "waiting for device".
I've tried hansoon's all in one program as well and it didn't work either.
Well that means it cannot find your phone, So the issue lies with the drivers and/or the location from which the command prompt is opened..
Put all of the files into 1 folder called android or adb and move that 1 folder to the root of your C Drive..
This should make navigating easier. Also, In that folder should be adb.exe and fastboot.exe do you have these ?
I fixed this by just playing around with it a bit more. Thanks for the help, though.

Well man, I really wish I could help you out because I remember how frustrating this was for me. This post was 2 and a half years ago though. Just really make sure that your drivers are up to date. If I could remember my exact solution I would help you out for sure.

ok. it was windows 8 not allowing unsigned drivers to install properly. note: not "not installing at all", but "not installing properly". meaning: htc drivers installed somehow, so I was able to see the device and copy files around, but it was not enough for flashing roms.
so I started this guide to disable driver signature:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmw86KplqmU
... but my laptop is a business laptop and this guide demands BitLocker key if hard drive is encrypted (mine is). I also have a windows 7 desktop machine. So I decided to go the easy and quick way of simply doing flashing on my desktop computer. Windows 7 worked like a charm. But I'm sure the guide above would've helped as well. If somebody tries that, please post results.
Hello everyone. As the title says I have rooting problem on my X8 device.
My x8 was already rooted before and i had had custom rom on it.
Few days back I wanted to put another rom, while doing that X8 got bricked.
I fixed it via PC Companion and everything is alright until i try to root it.
(Following links are in text form, I just made this account and can't make links jet.)
SuperOneClick:
When I click root, first error I get is this:
i.imgur.com/JjY36qY.png
After clicking Yes I get new window popping up saying.
Unknown error(0xe00022b) (last 3 latters change every time i try)
I click OK and it starts rooting. After few sec, it freezes like this:
i.imgur.com/b9vQD3X.png
All I get here is text on right blinking every few seconds.
x8toolbox:
Realizing that this won't work i tried via x8toolbox
There i get error:
i.imgur.com/poydVDJ.png
(Image is low qualtiy, but that is maximum I can get from that program.)
I don't know what to do. I was searching forums for days in hope to resolve my problem and had no luck.
Please, if anyone know anything about this problem I would appreciate your help.
Thank you in advance.

Hi guys.
Im a newbie here inb the forums and new to the world of modifying android (i was an apple user for a long time).
My problem here is that i am trying to install a custom ROM and to do that i have to unlock the boot loader.
>>Downloaded the SDK and drivers that came with it via instruction provided thru SE lin for unlocking boot loader
>>Connected device and the blue led turned on
upon plugging in the phone, device manager popped out of this error >> Unknown USB Device (Device Failed Enumeration)
>>tried updating the driver automatically and manually by directing it to the usb_driver folder inside SDK but to no success
>>done uninstalling and reinstall, done disabling and re-enabling still same error
>>tried all the USB ports in my desktop and still the same
>>checked properties of the driver and here are the details
Device USB\VID_0000&PID_0000\5&21f49dea&0&4 had a problem starting.
Driver Name: usb.inf
Class Guid: {36FC9E60-C465-11CF-8056-444553540000}

Upper Filters:
Problem: 0x2B
Status: 0x0
>>I've already tried searching thru XDA forums but most of the solutions ive seen are outdated.
>>By the way, I am using Windows 8.1 64bit / Phone is SE Xperia Arc S
I would really appreciate it if you could help me here.TIA
