If you're trying to update to the OTA, download the ICSL2 and pull the build.prop from there...

Are you running a Windows machine, and if so have you tried opening the file with a text editor/viewer such as Notepad+? If the answer is no, it's a free download, just Google it and install, then see if you can open the file with that program...

HTC Clock Widget

I think I lost it when I first rooted the phone, the file is not even in my AndroidSDK\Tools\ file. If someone can post it I would greatly appreciate it. I downloaded one from the market that seems to be the same thing (Clock/Weather Widget), but it keeps forcing me to update my location every couple of hours which I hate.
You can't just add it back from the HTC widgets menu? Odd that just rooting would have removed this file. Did you load a ROM or are you still using Sprints?

I originally loaded the MoDaCo 1.1 ROM, and when I try to add it back the clock option is not even there. When I went into system/app and did a list,
the Htc.clockwidget.apk or Htc.Clockwidget.odex is not listed, thats how I figured its not even on the phone anymore.
Interesting.
I am currently having some mounting issues right now. I may have foobar'd my phone. Once I get it back up, I will post the files here for you.

updated S-Voice apk

For those who dont know, there is a new updated S-voice out that is currently working on most devices. I'm sure it'll be patched soon as well, and the need to change the build.prop will arise again. In the meantime, this one DOES work
http://www.mediafire.com/?fp04n29phdzeram
Move to system/app, install, enjoy.
When was it updated? I got the download from the original thread yesterday afternoon.
How is it different to skyvi?

This was updated earlier today. Many users were having trouble with the previous build after Samsung blocked access to the application from other devices.

I'm getting Force Close every time I tell it to do something that app oriented, I'm assuming it's looking for Samsung applications? I fixed permissions with in root explorer , is there something else I'm missing. Still think its kinda pointless lol. NVM some things work some dont, I sent myself a text but cannot set an alarm lol. this helped things though.

I haven't a clue then lol, tried that as well, with no luck.
I copied that .so file from the .apk into the lib folder and it works now. It appears the only time that the app FC itself is when it tries to launch another app. I'm guessing probably because it is trying to look for the Samsung app.
Example - When I ask "Locate the nearest Mexican restaurant" or "What is the weather like today?"
U should link the the original thread so people can give credit where it is due and thank whoever ported it

hi, may sounds silly, but i'm new in the android game.
where do I find the "systems/app" folder that you mentioned? I'm on a Mac and using the USB Mass Storage, but I don't see the systems folder.
any help will be appreciated.
You're going to need to use ADB with cmd line to push it as far as I know or have root enabled file explorer like ROM Toolbox and you will see system when you're in it, this app never worked when I pushed it to system for me just installed it like a normal app and rebooted phone

Well first you need to be rooted.
Then grab a root explorer: es file explorer or another one
Then goto system/apps and find the s note apk, copy it and paste somewhere on internal storage or sd card then upload.
I tried getting it from zedomaxs file without flashing and no go considering I can't open an img file without it wanting to burn a cd
Right BC, that's why I couldn't pull it either. But if someone is still running the original firmware they can grab it for us, upload to dropbox and link us pretty easily.

Would this work?
You mention an IMG file. I'm thinking maybe, if you can post a link to it so I could download from the Internet and save it on my desktop, I could mount it as a virtual disk. Then, I could look for what you guys want.
Does the IMG file use a standard ISO file system?
I don't have any unix/linux stuff. I have winrar (in case the file is compressed).

I have firmware ending in UEALGB so I got the files for the flash injected root.
Flashing...PASS
Tab rebooted.
Still works. See SuperSU App.
Found SNote.apk.
Uploading to Dropbox...Done.
Here's a link:

After flashing this, I still have the exact same info in my settings for Build Number and Kernel Version. Is that right? I probably should have asked this first:
Will I still be able to OTA updates (or use Kies)?
Is my warranty still valid?

You're welcome. Hope you get what you're looking for. If you need any other files, just let me know.
My tab seems to work fine. No touch screen problems. The pen works like it always has.
I followed the instructions here:

According to the info, the image I used doesn't increase my binary count. Is there any way to test that?

Yes boot into download mode
Also yes the original firmware root method works great if you are on the original firmware.
I was on the original firmware unrooted and ota'd the update fine bust as soon as I tried to root via cwr method when I booted up I lost s pen and touch screen. Along with lots of other people.
But we all found the solution and are happily updated and rooted.
Hmmm, tried putting SNote.apk in the /system/app folder using Root Explorer. Will not allow me to enter r/w. Then tried pushing the .apk using adb - got read-only fail message.
Guess we can't.

[Q] Disabling OTA Update Notifications? [Editing build.prop line to FP5 bricks phone]

Hello all,
Anybody know how to disable the annoying OTA update notification on the Droid Charge? I've looked at a few guides, and most say to edit the ro.build.fingerpint line in build.prop from FP1 to FP5 [although I inferred this, as the guides I found had them updating from the prev version to FP1]. I've tried this twice and it bricked my phone both times.
I've also tried renaming the otacerts.zip to otacerts.zip.bak [in the system/etc/security directory] but this does not work as well.
I've not been able to find an .apk in the system/apps directory that looks like it's the OTA updater, and obviously don't want to just randomly rename anything in there via trial-and-error as it takes WAY too long to reflash the phone each time I brick it. [I bricked it HARD the first time around. ]
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. The notification pops up constantly and is like Chinese water torture at this point.
Thanks in advance!
-Sootah
What are you using to edit the build.prop? ES File Explorer screws up the file.
1. Download ROM toolbox lite (no pay)
2. Swipe right to performance tab
3. Tap build.prop editor
4. Tap ro.build.fingerprint
5. Change FP1 to FP5
6. Hit save
7. Reboot
If you are running Tweaked 2.2 or Eclipse 2.0. It can be as easy as flashing a zip. Check out my thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831944

See my previous post or do that .zip, although that will put you on stock build.prop which takes away some tweaks from tweaked.

This thread is likely dead, but for the record, this did not work for me. I still got an OTA notification. Out of morbid curiosity, I backed up everything then accepted the OTA which failed. Rebooted back to Tweaked 3.2. Promptly got another update notification. I am going to try to ignore them for two weeks (per an earlier post to this thread) and see if they go away.
don't know why you bricked but I believe FP8 is the latest, not FP5.

Yeah, I knew that and changed it from FP5 to FP8. I would have been pumped for such a simple solution but alas! If in two weeks the OTA prompts have not stopped I will be back looking for more answers. Right now I have a few other rabit-holes to fall into. Thanks!

Thanks! I checked out that post and it spells it out really well. Instead of flashing the .zip I chose method 2 and used Rom Toolbox to modify the build.prop file. Interestingly I am certain this is the what the OP+1 was aiming to have happen with his steps it just didn't work for me. Same app different way to accomplish the same task. Go figure!

Hey there I don't know if you still need this, but here goes. When I posted that in September 2012, the latest firmware was FP5. To disable the notification, you need to change it to FP8, the newest build.

PlayStation Mobile

Well apparently this dropped. Has any one tried it yet? I know ASUS was working on making the entire TF line certified. I guess if we aren't yet we could always follow the instructions here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/1...tion-mobile-for-android-on-any-rooted-device/
It's live on the N7, HTC One series, and Experia ION. I downloaded it on my Teg3 One X but the service isn't live yet.
