Hey all, sorry this is a noob question, but I am a U.S. soldier who is to be stationed in Germany for 3 years on Thursday. Originally I was going to wait until I got over there to get a phone, but after seeing the prices compared to what I can get here I decided against it, and my buddy told me about buying phones here in the U.S. and unlocking them to put on German networks.
Well my question is if I buy the HTC Inspire 4G from AT&T or Samsung Captivate (or any Quadband droid phone that takes a sim) without a plan, how would I go about getting the Unlock code (cheapest way possible) and would it be 100% certain to work over there as it's quadband and takes SIM cards?
I am in the military and my father wanted to give me a better phone as a present and sent his Samsung Stellar he got free from Verizon. Well I took it in to a Verizon place and they said I can activate it on Virgin mobile, but they will not do it. Some guy there said something about flashing it or unlocking the phone. I am lost and have no clue what I am doing.
Was the guy just lying to me so he would not have to help me since I do not use Verizon?
so i bought this motorola moto g for around $200(225 after case and screen protector) im on a plan my mom pays for, we have been on the same plan for quite some time (8+yrs) ive been looking everywhere and i cant get the bootloader unlocked ive tried multiple times on the motorola site it keeps coming back as unavailible for unlocking, if i was to sim unlock this phone, seeing as i qualify for a new 2 year contract upgrade in 2 months, would i be able to unlock the bootloader after i free my phone from at&ts deathgrip? or am i just out of luck at this point? also is there any suggestions as to which model i should choose next that has alot of customizable/root options thats at&t
Hi, newbie here and not sure If I have posted in the right section. I had bought a Samsung from 1 Carrier (Rogers) wasn't happy with their services and went to another service (Bell) in order to do that, I had to get the phone unlocked (3rd party) which I did within about 5 weeks into my contract with Rogers.
My question is, I am told by Bell after weeks that because my cell is unlocked and not programmed by them but by Rogers, Samsung Video Calling won't work as in ever on Bell Networks,,very frustrated, has anyone heard of this? I am in Canada btw
Thanks All, hope this isn't a repost..

Hi everyone, just got a verizon z4 version from bestbuy. Activated it fine. Then I put a non-verizon sim card in and and it says network locked. Not sure if other folks are having similar issues. Anyone experiencing the same thing?
Think (?) I read the FCC allowed VZW to lock new phones for a limited amount of time.
Here, I did your homework for you:

I would not worry about that at all... Don't buy phones from the big V if you are worried.
I can't remember the last time I waked into a verizon store and bought a phone from them. LOL
.
I bought mine from best buy a couple of days ago. Not locked. Using it on freedom pop
Is it bootloader unlockable
