[CLOSE THREAD PLEASE][MOD][APP] Floating Touch 1.3.1 (Updated: 2012.10.20) - Galaxy S Plus I9001 Android Development

I've finished this project, and attached the current source. @mods: Please close this thread, thank you.
Feel free to try out the app on different devices, If your phone's files are not autodetected execute the following command
"find /sys -name set_touchscreen"

Click to collapse
in adb shell or terminal emulator. If it gives back results then try them out, if there are no results I cannot help "porting" it to your device, sorry.
Hi, I've read the news about the floating touch and the galaxy sl, checked the threads, and guess what it works on our phone too!
I've made an app that can controll our phone's "floatiness", it works well on biohazard v4.
CHANGELOG:
1.3.1 (2012.10.20)
-Added detection and support for Galaxy SL (i9003) and Galaxy SII (i9100 (not i9100G)) based on shriomman's thread (thanks shriomman) (it seems like that it does not work on i9100 based on feedback)
-Different results on I9000 (needs further confirmation whether it works or not )
1.3 (2012.10.20)
-Added possibility to manually input the path to the files of the touchscreen driver (thanks shriomman for the idea)
-Added possibility to start service automatically on boot
-Fixed charger connect/disconnect reset by optional bgservice (thanks alireza7991 for finding the issue)
-Made the UI more helpfull
-Pressing MENU button will reset everything (except if you entered some sensitive file in manual mode and overwritten it...it cannot be fixed ) (disable service, set value to 32, delete configuration files and exit the app) (only usable in the main activity of the app) (in case you've set some wrong value)
-Changed app's icon (thanks nishant_713 for the icon)
1.2.1 (2012.10.16)
-Fix for G3 <- managed to test it on my old GT-I5800 running CM7 and it works nice, doesn't even need the bg service as it stays after screenlock without the need of reapply (can't test for long as it now belongs to my father )
-It also turned out that by adding a "cat /..../set_write" also removed the need of the bgservice for us(...I keep this feature anyway...maybe someone likes it in the notification area )... so pressing the button is enough (altough it's saying temporary because I'm lazy to make an update for changing only the button's caption)
1.2 (2012.10.16)
-Added support for Galaxy 3 (GT-I5800 / GT-I5801) <-- Please feedback if it's work as I cannot test it. (Probably not working well please use 1.2.1)
1.1.2 (2012.10.14)
-Now supports Jelly Bean!
1.1.1 (2012.10.13)
-reverted minimum to 1 (thus allowing greater freedom )
1.1 (2012.10.13)
-added option to start/stop a background (in fact foreground to prevent killing) service, thus it can survive the screenlock
-changed minimum value to 7...values under it are not really usable
-app now stores last value setted by it (may differ from the actual value)
-added a filecheck too, and a nice warning message on failure
All it does is "echo 70xx > /sys/class/touch/switch/set_touchscreen" (xx can be set between 01 and 34)
It will reset on each reboot.
Possible usage:
-Using styluses like with resistive screens (value 10 and below) (Fun to use pinchzoom with two pencils ) <-- Thanks for domi525 for finding out.
-Use the screen with gloves on <-- Thanks for domi525 for finding out.
-Setting it a low value, and hovering over your screen to avoid smudges (value 8 and below).
Instructions: install the app; set a value (the lower, the floatier); press button to apply it (till next reboot)
WARNING: Value below 7 cause registering of nonexistant touches, or the complete inability to register any touches!! In those case you WILL need to reset it with adb shell using the command "echo 7032 > /sys/class/touch/switch/set_touchscreen" OR reboot your phone (via adb or battery reinsert)
I am not aware of any other side-effects, and take no responsibility for this app at all.
Of course all credits goes to shriomman and loSconosciuto for founding this, also check the original thread . (Sorry guys for not mentioning at the first place, and thank you very much )
Special thanks to nishant_713 for making me find out that we also need the cat command
Credits:
shriomman - Finding the method the app uses; sharing the path for Galaxy SL and SII
loSconosciuto - Finding out the possibilities to tweak the touchscreen
nishant_713 - Galaxy 3 support; the idea to use the cat set_write too; New icon
alireza7991 - Noticing the charger bug
domi525 - Finding out more usage
And everyone who gave feedback and helped to make this app better.

I'm not sure whether it works or not (if you have a file named switch at \sys\class\touch\ than it will work i guess). It basicly makes the screen super-sensitive, it allows you to touch the screen without touching it: by just hovering your hand over it.

WOOOW! This really works! Amazing! Good job

Wow. Thats amazing !!!. Works great with Biohazard v5. Im able to type this by just pointing at my Keyboard. Feels like your just hovering over your screen.

It all depends whether he has that file in /sys (full path in OP)
Worst case scenario (imo): app FCs or need to reboot to touch again

Nice work! Though the Nexus S doesn't have that file. D; I didn't expect it to work but it'll be cool to see which other devices support this feature.

i set it to 7 as recommended but it goes back to 32 whenever i reopen the app again, any sugesstions??

The value stays and keeps being applied but the app does not save it and I did not have time to search how to read the current value yet.

[APP] / [HOW TO] Touch Key Lights

Okay, Touch key lights too bright on your G2X? Two ways to fix this... First, the app, which is easiest for most people:
-------------
(note: This is NOT my app. Just sharing it with you guys)
LG Optimus 2x touch key lights
Little tool for LG Optimus 2x & G2x phones only that allows the user to change the touch key lights brightness levels. The desired brightness level can then be set up on startup.
Root access is not needed except for the new G2x Gingerbread update.
Warning, this application is not and will not be compatible with touch key notifications mechanisms.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.guenmat.android.optimus2x
-----------
The other is the TECHIE way... by changing the value directly! You can change the touch key brightness FROM THE SHELL with the following command:
Code:
echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/star_touch_led/wled
.
Possible values are 1-20, where 20 is the brightest. Though honestly 15-20 all looked the same to me. You can set higher, but I'm not sure if it is safe for your touch keys. 0 would be OFF.
Now, you can type that in through adb shell, but you'd lose it when you reboot. So, if you have a Rom that supports init.d scripts, you can add it at the end of one of the scripts in /system/etc/init.d.
If you don't have init.d scripts, you can also use TASKER with the LOCAL EXECUTE plugin. If you do, make sure to put a ! in front of the command so it executes as root.
I know, sparse, but I had to figure this out on my own and now you don't.
here is an app that does the same thing as the one you said PLUS it makes your 4 touch led lights blink when you have a missed called, mms, and gmail (hello notification lights)
https://market.android.com/details?...2xtouchlednotifications&feature=search_result
you dont need root access for froyo but you need it for GB
Interesting, is there a similar app that makes it so the lights are always on (dimmed, of course)?
This has been out for a while. The Custom Roms have this built in at a kernel level so it doesn't always run in the background and drain your batteries like a mofo.

well i haven't found it for weapon g2x if it has it on the kernel :/ , so i am using that app, is also great for someone that is running a stock gb rooted, like the 2.3.4 that is running arround

Actually, the ONLY custom Rom I've noticed that had anything close was MIUI (which you're using). In MIUI, the touchkey brightness was linked to screen brightness, all the way down to the lowest setting where it would be off. Nice, but not helpful to those of us who don't like the rest of the bugs present in MIUI. Also, I haven't seen any battery drain from this...

Good to have choices. I tried that one first. I didn't see the option to just change brightness, and I don't really want the notifications. I guess which one you choose depends on what you need.

Thanks. Ill try them both. I like the flashing buttons for notification option

i like this app!
If you're using a stock rom you can always go into LG's hidden menu and adjust the touch LED brightness. Using your dial pad dial 1809#*999# and it will open the hidden menu. From there select Device Test and then scroll all the way down and select Touch LED Brightness. Adjust the slider and you're good to go. You can do this whether or not you're rooted. The only catch is that it resets when you reboot the phone so you have to do it again with each reboot.

[APP][2.4] SMS Flash

I've been using Android from a really long time, I used to always get annoyed when I got SMS while I was in full screen mode, so I decided to write something to help me with this. I uploaded it to Play about three weeks ago. It's a free app with no ads nor Internet permission. I'm hoping to get some feedback and advice from you guys
Please consider to let me know how to make it better before leaving a bad review.
SMS Flash on Google Play
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bl.smsflash
About SMS Flash :
Instant SMS notification without stealing focus! Specially built for gamers.
SMS Flash is a simple application that displays incoming SMS as soon as they are received, in a non interactive way. Unlike SMS popup, you can touch through the displayed SMS and continue interaction with the screen. So you do not need to stop what you were doing to read the SMS.Its very handy when you are playing Games, watching movie, recording video, taking pictures, browsing etc.
SMS is formatted and notified as a transparent view on the fly, you can set the number of seconds the SMS has to be displayed and you can use Proximity sensor to
1. Dismiss SMS Flash on first touch of Proximity sensor
2. Extend the display time when you need more to finish reading by touching and holding
3. Go to reply box when Proximity sensor is touched twice
V 2.4 Released :
[New] : Added Added Image size limit to 100x100 dip
[New] : Added Preview option. (Displays only 1 line)
[New] : Option to decrease reply trigger to 1 sec
[Fix] : FC resolved.
[Fix] : Pocket trigger fixed
V 2.3 Released :
: SMS Flash doesn't blink as much.
: Font size configurable.
: Debugger option added.
: Reply issues with LG devices fixed.
That is great idea! Thank you very much... Have been testing it for an hour so far and works great. I love the idea with proximity sensor...
What I would perhaps add is option to enable the pop up window on locked screen as well... just leaving the background black and having this beautiful on the screen when the phone is locked would be perfect (for me ).
Anyway thanks once more...
I'd love to try this app but unfortunately play market says it can't be installed in my country (Turkey) and one more thing, is the proximity sensor the only way to interact with this app?
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda premium
Yup that's a great idea but I'm just worried that it might cause wake locks :-( not to mention how seriously wake locks are considered by users.. But il surely try to add it
Thanks

What a god damn awesome idea!! I can't tell you how bloody annoying it is when im doing a video review of an app for my youtube channel and im in a full screen app and i get an sms or even when im just playing a game testing it out and stuff, I don't want to go to my homescreen to see the text because if i do i have to restart the first app all over again and start from the beginning. This will save me from doing that! awesome app!
never seen this app

[APP][2.3+] AVP Calculator [v1.3][23/10/12]

AVP Calculator
There are a lot of calculators out there in Google Play. All of them perform arithmetic functions to give you the desired result.
My app is different. Suppose you want to calculate the area or volume of a figure, you know the given values, but you don't remember the formulae to find it. AVP Calculator is the solution to that problem. Loaded with 7 2D figures and 5 3D figures (and their types), this app helps you to calculate area and perimeter of 2D figures, and volume and surface area of 3D figures. AVP = A(rea)+V(olume)+P(erimeter).
The 2D figures include:
+Square
+Rectangle
+Circle
+Parallelogram
+Rhombus
+Triangle (with types)
+Trapezium
The 3D figures include:
+Cone
+Cuboid
+Cylinder (with types)
+Cube
+Sphere
Hope you like the app.
Thanks to QuantumFoam, who helped me bypass any obstruction I came across while building this app.
Screenshots and apk file in attachment. Thanks to tjsgy for providing me with the SS of v1.2, when my phone wasn't working.
CHANGELOG :-
v1.0.1
- Added Decimal support (probably a lame update)
- Fixed some calculation errors and bugs
v1.1
- Added background images for other screens
- Added two more options in menu
+ An Exit button
+ A link to the XDA thread
v1.2
- Added a different background image for some screens
- Added images of the figures for better understanding
- Added a different app icon
v1.2.1
- Minor bug fix of old icon being shown instead of new one.
v1.3
- Added support for "Regular Polygon"
Please uninstall the app first and then install the updated one, just to make sure that all changes are visible.
Thanks for your app, but :

Hey glad you like it the Beta 2 is up, which allows google play store as well, may add one more free app through popular demand. pro version will focus on true customisation. by the first final release i will know exactly what level of stuff will be in free/pro. Halo support ill add for future features - what exactly do you need in terms of integrationf with halo? are you saying that if you use the gesture to launch google now in the halo window so its floating? that sounds logical

[APP] 4.4 (and lower?) BackOff, button backlight disabler

I designed a simple app that disables the backlight for the capacitive keys. It also installs an init.d script that disables them at each boot, meaning you can uninstall this app after using it, if you wish.
Perfect for roms that have a navbar but no option to disable the button lights, or anyone who doesn't need the glow to tell you where your buttons are.
I tested this on SkimKat. I'd like to know if it works on JB roms.

Edit: I noticed that the screenshots make it look like a widget. This is definitely not a widget, but an app overlaying the home screen. In other news: I'm accepting better screenshots (I don't own this device)

Does it have an option to undo the init.d script after it runs? Can it do it on the fly or does it require a reboot?

Sorry about the delay. Does it disable the backlight at all or is it only after a reboot that it fails? Does your rom support init.d?
Also, my app only disables the light, not the actual button.

I decided to give this a go since the option hasn't been merged into AOKP 4.4 yet. It does what it says. Thanks for the simple app.
K, so I hate to go back on this...It is still nice, but it doesn't seem to persist on a reboot. Any thoughts on why that may be?

If it doesn't persist it's because your rom doesn't support init.d. You could try another kernel for now. I'm dabbling at support for roms without init.d, but I hate to make my app run at boot.
