My Infinity is failing to go to sleep, and instead overheating - Asus Transformer TF700

I have had a tablet overheat since I had the Transformer Prime which after a few updates for ICS from ASUS the tablet started overheating when I thought it was sleep.
Now I'm seeing this symptom return with Jelly Bean on the TF700T. Is anyone else having this problem?

If it's happening like that it is most likely an issue with an application you have installed. Check to see what's using the most power in the power section or install something to see what's keeping the device awake.
Mines been solid since jb and have had no overheating or sleep issues.

Google maps does that, turn of gps and location service....i think its the last update of google maps.
and because i dont use that software, i "delete" the app

I've had the same problem and posted in the Q&A section but I didn't know which app. I'm going to uninstall maps (or at least all updates) just to make sure.

I'm certain it's not an app but the OS. My Infinity wasn't overheating until it got JB.
It worked fine in ICS with the same software that I migrated over from when I had a TFP.
It did it again today, it was getting low on battery with only 50% left on the tablet and the dock completely depleted which I was going to recharge, I turn my had and look back and noticed it self-rebooted, but right after the ASUS logo it went to a black screen and it's just stuck like this until I can scramble around and find something that will fit into it's tiny little reset hole.

I'm also having this problem. Turning off gps didnt help but toggling the wifi was effective. Ive had it on for 1 day and 6 hours and still have 95% with relatively little use. The biggest battery draw was tablet idle.

Mine's done this a few times since JB, too. Never before.
You can hold down all three hard buttons to force a reboot. Hold them for about 10 seconds and you'll feel a quick vibe.

If its ok with wifi off sounds like the tablet might be trying to access the network
As you can see mine has wifi on all the time and its been 15 hours

The particular problem with mine is google maps forcing the wifi on when its supposed to be sleeping. When I manually toggle wifi off it behaves correctly.

[Q] <DC CONNECT> IO error: msg='/127.0.01:7771 - Connection refused

In the new OTA leaked ROM base, v3.28.651.6, this seems to be happening to many people, including myself.
<DC CONNECT> IO error: msg='/127.0.01:7771 - Connection refused
This happens after turing 4G on and then turning it off. You can see this error in logcat. and it repeats endlessly!
Does anyone know why or have a solution to this?
It has also been reported HERE.
4G works fine, it doesn't break 4G, it's just some stupid looping error.
its not just the new rom, it happened on 2.1 and 2.2 ota's.
It has been concluded that this is normal behavior, since the early builds. Apparently, that's how wimax works on the evo

That's pretty lame coding on HTC's part then. Why have something that is turned of try to reconnect infinitely to something. That has to waste resources.
It happened to me yesterday but when I rebooted I could connect and stay on 4g. Weird.
In regards to the effect of this on battery life

9pm - 4g Turned on, then off.
9-~12: screen always on, multiple reboots (4g turned on/off after each reboot)
~12pm - screen off the rest of the night (while in the error state)
The results to me look like any other day under the same usage conditions. To me, at most this is an annoyance when trying to logcat for something unrelated, but doesn't seem to affect battery like people have been posting in multiple forums.

I agree, I am at work for 14 hours a day and I come home with 35-40% battery left. Prior to this new leaked OTA ROM base, I came home with 5-10%. I use the same phone the same way, so regardless of this weird arror, battery life is still good.
Like the guy in the post that you linked to on the Sprint forum says, seems to go away if you Turn off 4G and then completely power down (Hold power button, and choose Power Off). A reboot doesn't fix it, has to be complete power down.
Agreed, it's a silly leftover, I usually just use some sort of a tail-like application, and just filter those out if i need to do logcat.
It's the 4G radio that causes major battery drain, not the repeated log messages anyway

[Q]Screen Randomly Turns On My Xoom

I don't have this issue. There must be an app that is waking your device/wifi during sleep.
1) go to settings/wifi/advanced and choose never for "keep wifi on during sleep"
2) get betterbatterystat app to check what is waking up your device.

Havent changed anything and didn't install anything.WiFi is totally turned off. Even flight mode on will still cause this. It happens about 6 timed every few seconds and then stop for a while. Soft Reset the device won't fix it either. It seems like a nasty bug. After some time of use.
By the way I don't have android 4.0 but 3.2 4.0 is still not here in Europe.

Oops. I thought you are rooted.
If you ever want to have ics better than stock faster and more stable and not buggy. Just unlock your bootloader and flash a pre rooted rom of team eos rom.
By the way. Team eos released 4.1.1 jelly bean rom for you too. I am on it now. It is lightening super fast.

After 3 years of owning this xoom, I found out what causes the screen to randomly come on and off -- using a non default wallpaper.
Sounds silly, but all I did was change my wallpaper back to one of the default ones and I problem of the screen coming on randomly :laugh:stopped!

Get a text message from Sprint?

Yes, Sprint's been pushing wi-fi for some time now. It's all over the online account section of the website. No reason to be concerned.

Wifi uses the least power as long as you're actually connected to an access point. If you're not, the wifi radio only wakes up for about 15 seconds every few minutes to scan for networks it's previously been connected to. This is assuming you have wifi set to always stay on (default behavior) instead of turning off while the display is off.
I've hit 3 days on a single charge if I kept the phone on wifi and worked from home. Personally, I leave wifi on, but have Tasker set to disable it when it connects to my car stereo over bluetooth (and re-enable as soon as the stereo disconnects). No point having it on when I'm driving, but I have that setup so that it disconnects from my home router when I get in the car, forcing it to connect to 3G so I can start streaming music.

Of course they're pushing it, it saves them money if you use wifi for data. While it does save you battery if you use wifi and have a steady wifi connection I wouldn't put much merit in anything any company pushes.

I really don't think Sprint cares about our batteries ... just trying to minimize our data usage on their network.

[Q] Screen turning on randomly

I feel like I'm the only one with this problem.
I updated my TF300T to 4.2.1 the other day and it's fantastic. Super fast and smooth. However, when I attach it to the keyboard dock and lock the screen, it will randomly turn on a few minutes later and stay on. This is SO annoying because it drains the battery without me realizing it. I looked around and I think it's an Android 4.2 problem, but I'm not so sure. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Hi,
I think the only way to know if its an Android 4.2 problem it's to try a rom on 4.1. Did you have the same issue before or its new ? Perhaps it can be a hardware problem on your dock like touchpad ( You can wake up your tablet when you touch it normaly )
I'm on Cyanogen 10.1 ( 4.2.x ) and haven't this problem
Which rom do you use ?
I have the same problem after updatinmg to 4.2.1 and it was not present before. I have already done a factory reset but it didn't help. I have found out that the screen is switched on and tablet is connecting to wifi. So I have tried to disable synchronization and still the issue is there. Then I have tried to disable WiFi and this seemed to help. So I would say there is some application that wantst to connect to internet and cuses tablet wake up. But how to figure out which application?
I am swithing my wifi router off during the night and swithing on in the morning. Tablet connected to wifi after I open it and pres power button and unlock with 4.1 but with 4.2 it connects without touching anything. And I have disabled WiFi in sleep mode in wifi advanced settings settings and also in Asus settings.
Any hints? Thanks.

Download BetterBatteryStats from google play and run your tablet for a day while this app is installed and you should be able to tell by looking at wakelock information as to what is turning on the screen.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using Tapatalk 2
Thenk you for your hint, I have run the app, but not it is not so clear to me, how to interpret the results.
The only thing I could recognize is, that the problem is only when tablet in in dock. Between 7:00 and 17:00 it was undocked not touched at all, and between 19:00 and 6:00 it was in dock. So obviousy the problem is somehow related to dock. Custom reference has been set after connecting to dock.
Could you please help me?

blank screen

hey guys,
any of you had an issue with the screen going blank and never coming back on until the watch is rebooted? ( I have ambient screen on)
everything is still functioning, phone detects it as connected, i get vibration for notifications and can even get screenshots from the watch using the android wear app.
using stock watchfaces, not installed anything yet, only setup android pay, since i only intend to use for notifications and android pay.
this is really frustrating, it's happened 4 times within the first 24 hours...

if you can't touch and wake the device, you may need to send it for RMA. Do not waste time in testing, even it is a software issue. Let them fix it for you or simply replace it.

thanks, yeah that's what I was thinking too. just wondering if this was a common issue.

It is acceptable if the watch is loaded with many software. But not normal if it is freshly setup. You may try the official rom here and see if it is okay.
I have this problem now.
Screen sometimes starts working at random for a short while but goes back to blurry.

Mine also goes blank occasionally and only reboot helps, but it's so random, and maybe once a week? so I won't even bother sending for warranty because they might send it back saying that it's not happening to them.
Yesterday it happened while I was tracking my workout so that's a bummer but happily I was able to continue after reboot.
p.s.
I'm using always on display.
