confusion after flashing recovery via terminal emulator (lg P500) - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I AM NOOB SO PLEASE DONT BE HARSH
NOW FIRST I DOWNLOADED 2 FILES
"FLASH_IMAGE" AND "AMONRA RECOVERY 3.0.6.img"(renamed it to recovery.img) and PASTED THE FLASH_IMAGE IN /system/bin and recovery.img in root of sdcard
AFTER THAT I OPENED TERMINAL EMULATOR
I TYPED THE FOLLOWING
su
# flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
then after pressing enter it only showed me
#
NOW IM IN CONFUSION WHETHER THE RECOVERY FLASHED SUCCESFULLY OR NOT ( I DONT WANT REBOOT INTO RECOVERY WITHOUT ANY satisfaction)
so please help me
and thanks in advance

No need for flash_image to be thr.
Do 'su' then 'flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img'

and it pefectely worked

better terminal emulator pro

i bought this cause i figured it was like cmd in my hand but i have not the slighest clue how to do adb commands in it. i was wondering if any one wanted to lend a helping hand and teach me how to insert commands like flashing a boot img for instance. i will pay the helper five dollars through paypal if they teach me how to flash a boot.img!

OR the method I perfer:
put the new recovery you want on the sdcard and name it recovery.img
also put flash_image on the sd card..

You need the android SDK..
then you goto the tools folder within the download and use adb shell.

Android SDK is - if explained by simple means - a tool on the computer that gives it's user the ability to "customise" , "code" , "1337ise" his Android ( 1337 in videogaming usually refers to elite players ) and it is used in the making of All ROMs ( Operating system would give a close meaning ) that you see on the internet like the Cyanogen one , etc... If you are looking for Android SDK you will find it on

Clockwork 3. Tells me image not found.

Ok so I got help a few hours on here about my recovery not working. Im trying to but clockwork 3. On my phone by using a youtube video. It tells me to download the clockwork 3 and put it in my root of my sdcard. Then go to terminal app type in
su
Flash_image recovery /sdcard/clockwork.img
Everytime I do that, it says" flash_image not found".
Is their another way to put clockwork 3 on my phone so I can put CM7 on it. Plz help and thanks

If you cant flash the original recovery because you are having some trouble with fastboot and accessing the bootloader, try the instructions I posted here:

Try adb shell
Then seperately on the next line, type "su"
If its not found after that, it may be that you dont have root?
If so, just try the "Other Method #1" posted on that thread too. Just note that it requires a full wipe of your device

I cannot do antthing with fastboot, so I can't get root, I can,t load anything, locks like ther is no OS, I need to flash a kernel, but I don't know which one for the Htc one s s3 chip

In twrp can you select mount then mount usb storage? If so your computer should now see sd. If so format your sd card from your pc

And for the kernel its just the boot.img file from any Rom download...download an s3 Rom and flash the boot.img in fastboot

The simplest way.
Download terminal emulator from play store..
Rename the recovery to recover.img and place it in root of your sd card .i.e /sdcrad.
Open terminal emulator..
type su
allow permission
type cd /sd card
Type flash_image recovery recovery.img
Reboot recovery Recovery updated.. :good:

may be its 'flash_image flash recovery recovery.img' or you can install via recovery installer app. It's much easier.
