Hi, I do not have a fotadl.htc.com link for it (because no one has posted the name of the OTA zip file) but I do have the RUU - just run it from a windows pc
Link: here

As the title says. I did a search & came across a Nexus S post that said: You can flash an OTA update but you will lose root.
Just wanted to know if this is true for the Sensation. Thanks in advance.

No it will not work for sensation.

Oh alright. Mind me asking why?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e
Because you need stock recovery to install OTA.

Because of the way stock recovery is setup, and the way HTC formats their update.zip files.

Oh so basically It's different from phone maker to phone maker. Thanks for ur replies!
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e
Yes you can.
When downloading, select install later.
Some can then be installed simply by using CWM. E.g. the latest security update.
Others, you need to put the stock recovery on first. See here.
Install su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip in CWM again to get root back.
I successfully rooted my phone some time ago...
I'm on stuck ROM 2.3.4 - unbranded, unlocked - European version.
Now there is an update available for the phone. Its the Twitter update. However I can't install it.
I think it something to do with stock recovery, right?
Have you cleared data from market? Also what version of the market do you have? What does it say when you try to install
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
Its not an update from the Market. Its a system update.
SOLVED (how can I change the title?)
How did you solve it?

I thought that after a root u never get any OTA updates anymore.
Just received new OTA 15 mb name Settings.
Anybody knows anything about it?
'Settings Update', it's meant to be installed as a fix over ICS. There are some other threads here with more info.
Update that fixes the battery auto mode that was missing in previous ICS OTA update

OTA server is offering 2 files:
{"apk":[{"className":"com.htc.lmw","versionName":"1.0.2117172954.102059","versionCode":100102059,"appName":"Uvolnit n..jak.. m..sto","appSize":417872,"description":"Uvolnit n..jak.. m..sto Aktualizace","icon":"http://apu-liveimage.htc.com/apu/icon.png-FI-3890.png","source":"http://apu-liveimage.htc.com/apu/LMW_release.apk-FI-3889.apk","timestamp":1312813221587,"apkId":16649,"optionalCount":0,"ableToUninstall":true,"rebootDevice":false},{"className":"com.android.settings","versionName":"4.0.2213332163.350357","versionCode":400350357,"appName":"Nastaven..","appSize":16334054,"description":"Nastaven.. You can find out there that wizzard for low memory clean up and Settings application are there. You can download using URL (at your own risk). Current description in OTA response are in Czech, but don't worry it should be in right language for you ..

is it safe to install on s-off sensation?
is it part of current roms (RCHD, IC or LeeDroid)?

It is not flash - just application update so it should not have impact to S-OFF or other.. It can be unistalled as normal app update.

My Sensation XE is S-Off, but this came through as an OTA update which fixed various small errors etc.
HTC FOTA download link:
http://fotadl.htc.com/OTA_PYRAMID_I...3.33.401.6_release_280988aa8yw94v84jkw18y.zip
Credit to exxeHR for the news and original link (head over to the original post and thank him, not me! - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1916426 ) - I just found the fotadl.htc.com link
Note: this OTA is for HTC Sensation (NOT XE or 4G) and you must be 100% stock (not rooted, no custom ROM) to flash it as well as on 3.33.401.6 ROM version.
I'm completely stock but still haven't received the update... Isn't it strange that new version have 53 on the end while the old one is 6?

Funnily enough thats why I posted the fotadl link
As to why you havent had it - HTC dont want everyone crashing their servers by all trying to download at the same time so they send it over a few days by IMEI/Serial numbers to people's phones.

*Shrug* Probably only suggests minor update (which is what it is)
I meant that .53 is lower than .6
Or is it just me?

just you
Versions are not decimals, but instead individual numbers separated by a dot ( . ). Usually the positions mean the following:
{Major}.{Minor}.{Build}.{Revision}
So in this case, 6 < 53

Who is your service provider? You could maybe double check it with them if they released the ICS update at all. (they should have though... ) You could maybe reboot your device I give it a try again? Somebody more clever might help you out...

built in updater is the same I told you.
edit2:
And one more thing! You could also have a look in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672425 It is about RUU (Rom Update Utility). By using these you can update your device but you need to choose the right RUU for your device. Use this if you cannot get anywhere with your provider...

The answer is written in the thread I gave you and set up by kgs1992. Read all that stuff just to make sure you are familiar with that you are going to do. :good:
Just be sure you're connected to wifi and check for updates, it will prompt you to install the latest software available for your phone and region
Yes. When you tap on the check now button, a window will appear where it tells you what you are going to download. And It's better to be connected to WiFi as it will download a bigger amount of update.
