True, deep sleep is not working. But for me the major turn down is not being able to mount the sd card. Hope they'll fix it soon.

have you installed the update?
so it should work.

Yeahp, but it only fixed the external sd mapping. Still can't mount sd card. Does it work for you?

goes with me not
just tested.

I'm unsure what you mean. Are you not able to mount the sd card at all?
I have no problems mounting or using my sd card, and after getting it softlinked to /sdcard it's working perfectly for me.

Ah, right - I see it now.
Nothing is not entirely correct though. At least if you've enabled adb debugging. I get a little icon (droid head) telling me "Android debugging enabled" whenever I connect the usb cable. So the phone does trigger on the usb connection.
Also, unmounting and mounting the storage card via the "settings->storage" menu works just fine. So I suspect there is something wrong in the usb handling/triggering.
Not much of an issue for me, I prefer to use "adb push/pull" most of the time anyway, that's why I never noticed.

I see that the latest version has fixed init.viva.rc in the boot image so that it now symlinks the sdcard to /sdcard and the internal storage to /emmc.
There is another problem with the script, in that the symlinks to /mnt does not work.
The script as it is now first creates /mnt/sdcard + /mnt/emmc, and then tries to symlink /storage/sdcard[01] to the same names in /mnt. The latter operation will fail, because there is already a directory with the same name as the symlink. If you uncomment the two 'mkdir' commands the symlinks will work ok. E.g.:
Code:
# mkdir /mnt/sdcard 0000 system system
# mkdir /mnt/emmc 0000 system system
symlink /storage/sdcard1 /mnt/sdcard
symlink /storage/sdcard1 /sdcard
symlink /storage/sdcard0 /emmc
symlink /storage/sdcard0 /mnt/emmc
symlink /storage/sdcard0 /emmc

But does it create any problem for the common user?

Have you guys noted any problem with the 3D acceleration? Still didn't test everything, but untill now everything is running smoothly.
Also, from time to time I'm getting a cracking sound from the speakers. It happens for you too, right?

1.0
First release
Can I use this script on any rom?
_probably_ but I have only tested it on CM5/6 ( so far )
the options marked with * require 'run-parts' this is where the boot.img executes scripts within a specified directory.
When I was writing the script I anticipated this and incorporated a check, disabling the install of the options which require it.
edit: the dc2x might do very nasty things to a none CM5/6, I'll insert a sanity check
I like the idea of some of the 'run-part' scripts, but my rom doesn't use that
I have an idea in mind, where I test the running boot.img's init.rc for the import/trigger commands. I can use that to setup a run parts
trouble is, not all ramdisks are made equal.
Some popular 'roms' don't have a boot.img with a compatible init, even though the init.rc has import/trigger. So it may not work and I don't fancy manually fixing all the broken boot.imgs
But I may at some point detail how you can do that yourself
Some more detail on the options
*new* Random Bootanimations
This adds a script which will randomly select a bootanimation from /sd-ext/bootanimations ( or /data/local/bootanimations/ if /sd-ext is not mounted )
it searches for zip files in the bootanimations folder.
you can either have
unique names e.g.
/sd-ext/bootanimations/bootanimation1.zip
/sd-ext/bootanimations/bootanimation2.zip
/sd-ext/bootanimations/nexusanim.zip
or each in its own folder e.g.
/sd-ext/bootanimations/ba1/bootanimation.zip
/sd-ext/bootanimations/nexus/bootanimation.zip
/sd-ext/bootanimations/another/another.zip
or a mix of both, I don't care
if /system/media/bootanimation.zip exists, that will also have a random chance
( personally I remove it from the ROM before flashing, it saves me a chunk of system space,, I just put a copy in /sd-ext/bootanimations/
*new* data/data binds
Space tight on data?
this will put /data/data ( and /data/sysem ) on your sd-ext, and bind mount them back to data
it will free up 30+mb * on /data
* depends on how many and what apps you have
if you decide you don't like it
Code:
su
sh /sd-ext/userinit.d/11datadata-binds off
to turn it off , note it will check if you have enough space on data, don't blame me if it refuses to move it back, or if it moves it back and you get low space warnings. titanium backup and do a full wipe and start again from scratch
shabang
simply adds #!/system/bin/sh to the wrapper scripts for some of the java code in /system/framework
basically it will let you run things like pm ( package manager ) from an Almquist shell (ash), bash or busybox sh ( which I think is just ash )
remount
is a somewhat bloated script inspired by Maxisma's rwsystem script
the 'bloat' is cachehack detection ( to make sure all system files are rw ) and some feedback, both to the user and any scripts which use it (via a 0/1 exit code )
lwp
when I first did the '3D' kernel for CE1.2, ( based on what Case_ did )
I hinted in the ramdisk's init.rc at what goes on here
the patch does two things
first , on boot it restricts access to /dev/msm_hw3dr and /dev/msm_hw3dc, so only root and the graphics group can access it.
Then, we give the graphics group to apps which have the android.permission Write External Storage
the idea being that Live wallpapers would be forced to drop back to software3d
( we know lwp worked ok(ish) on ramhack kernels ; )
but Gallery3D and most Games get given graphics group ( becuse they have the WES permission )
NB, this will not fix the 'Nexus LWP Pack' pushed from another ROM
only Market LWP will work on cm5 test3
swap
on boot get a script to run, which just runs swapon against every sd partition, its a 'suck and see' but it works no matter which partition you have swap on, so no messing about editing it for typical g1 setup fat32/ext/swap , or an mt3g with just fat32/swap
fb
Edits the build.trout.prop file, changing a couple of values so that facebook 1.2.1 sync works
( if you ask me its the app which is broken, but this is a workaround )
fixp
the fix_permissions script is hardcoded with the legacy /system/sd, this patch converts it to use $SD_EXT_DIRECTORY
so it won't miss apps on your sd card ext partition
dc2x
Dalvik-cache bind mounts
For NoneDangerSPL , a bind mount between /cache/dalvik-cache and /data/dalvik-cache is created on boot
NoneDanger has a /cache partition of 67mb , which is perfectly adequate for the dex files
it frees up space on data ( which is 14mb smaller than DangerSPL )
For DangerSPL
/cache is way too small, at just 30mb , but stock cm5's framework and system app dex files are 31mb , which does eat right into the space available on data
so, a bind mount between /sd-ext/dalvik-cache and /data/dalvik-cache is created on boot., very much like the old style a2sd
this option will free up space on data, especially useful if you have apps which want to create large /data/data/ directories
for MT3G , didn't make much sense to do anything, data is huge, but with /cache at 80mb I could be persuaded to bind with that
reserving for future use
great work firerat.

can't guarantee it as I haven't looked at superbad, but if it is cm5 based, no problem.
so how do we use it? Just download the patch to the root of sd and run the commands from terminal or what?

Awesome work Firerat. Just used it to fix Facebook sync in CM 5.0.7-t3 for G1. Works perfectly.

as I don't have a mytouch 1.2 I can't test it
but I can't think why it wouldn't work if it worked on a g1
maybe I need to clarify, it won't fix the lwp which fc, because they are not supported in the framework
currently, cm5 test3 , only lwp from the market work
it appears lwp are being coded out of the dream/magic frameworks
presumably because of their lack of stability
Hi Firerat
I've installed the patch because my facebook wasn't syncing properly; I installed the "/all". Thanks now facebook syncs but since that I can not switch back to 2G only, even when I tick the "only 2G network" the 3G icon and connexion are always here, it firstly disappear and then 2 sec after the 3G reappears.
Do you havea a clue ?
Cheers !

NOTE: Name is written as SGH-T849 (please just ignore, forum reports will be ignored too)
HDMI option added in Settings, for option to switch between 480p,576p,720p,1080p
note: tablet is still just 1024x600, so desktop is scaled, movieplayback should be correct.
360 degree rotation
settings - gapps sync enabled
deodex'd
wpa supplicant (adhoc) support (use FolioWidget to enable)
Added WMA/WMV support (upto 1080p)
Fixed Wifi script issues
Fixed /mnt/sdcard mount location (apps issue, better support now)
Root'd (Superuser + su included)
Rooted recovery + busybox tools
increased main filesystem (252MB)
SpareParts (disable "compatibility mode" to have old apps fullscreen.
Taskkiller included (Fixed for Toshiba framework)
More Locale 2 included (so all languages can be selected)
BROKEN: NTFS / CIFS / 3G support will be enabled as soon as a kernel source update is available, so DerArtem can compile
a working kernel for us.
Thanks to all those which have donated because of this FolioMod. Its truly appreciated to see people actually
like this and would pay a little to get the improvements in place!!
Thanks!

Weeds2000 gave it a go, and fixed the download of paid apps! im sure alot will be happy to read this.
Then i found another tweak in the screen driver, to increase framerate which currently was only 51. now its increased to 80.
on top of this, DerArtem is currently working on making it possible to use USB 3G dongles on our folio, so we can go online using the phone functionality in Android. I have for now, enabled some phone functions and activated the signal level indicator (might be annoying, but enhancement has a cost for now).
It also seems, that i by mistake had enabled locationservices in the build.prop, so at every boot the GPS, which we don't have, was enabled and caused an additional CPU load during a bootup. this is now fixed as well.
31.12.2010
the update pack includes some fixes for wpa_supplicant issue, where it did not switch to the correct adhoc wpa_supplicant.
and weeds2000 has brought a new update to the orientation so compass works, but mouse is still wrong.
lastly it fixes the sensor readings which made your tablet unable to rotate.

A little more details on v1.3 update release..
V1.3 went through a public beta1 stage and issues were found and fixed where possible.
While fixing bugs in 1.3beta a 3D performance pack was found with the Viewsonic forum, and i tested it with our Folio, with changes as required to match our system. and it increased framerates. So that is now part of the new 1.3.
Furthermore the filesystem I/O performance bugs were found and fixed, and we now have a 330MB partition running on a loopback device, making database calls and small file changes much faster.
With the ElocityA7 i found the newest Flashplayer minor update revision, and of course replaced our Toshiba beta with the new one found.
Other users has suggested kernel tweaks which also has been added to the v1.3, one of them is the "swappiness" parameter, it is suggested to increase application handling on our folio and its now "live" in this release.
Sol Ido, provided us with the 0.3.4 edition of the FolioWidget, which includes a tricker enabler for switching between the regular wpa_supplicant and the wpa_supplicant for adhoc use also included in 1.3.
The orientation fix from weeds2000 is now default included into v1.3, but can be removed with a rollback patch found in the patches section in Post #1. it does have flaws like mouse pointer moves in "portrait" mode right now. compass should not be working correctly. but in general more apps utilizing the orientation/sensor is now working much better.
With FolioMod 1.3 a small milestone is reached, getting 3000+ in Quadrant score without actually cheating here
But of course Quadrant benchmarking is just one way of meassuring our device, CPU performance has not changed at all, so dont get too excited, but it does help in the overall experience of your tablet.

as you see on the picture above, our tablet has native 0 degree in landscape mode where mobilephones got portrait native.. you can call this failure of nvidia, or someone else, but it seems that someone thinks this should be the standard.
if we can get the X and Y curve switched, we might just get it working normally.
12.12.2010
- Version 1.2 introduce use of the official patch installer from Toshiba which shows progress bar indicator movements on the screen, if recovery menu is not shown.
- Version 1.2 offers the newest toshiba update 2.5.0053 features, but which?
- BadStorm2010 managed to get a custom kernel compiled, which for adds support for ext4(future support),OpenVPN and cifs support, so you can mount filesystems over network.
- The FolioWidget offers control of your hardware buttons to have lights enabled and turns off only when pressed (good during evening/night)
- By failure of mine, the Vending.apk (Market app) included in 1.2, slows down the folio, so to enhance and fix it, i added a patch which adds the newest Market app to our folio with new design and way of selecting apps (actually is much better).
- as the framework is new, i tried to include all old features as 360 rotation , wma/wmv , Google apps + /mnt/sdcard location fix and other small issues.
- Paid apps still remain an issue with toshiba framework, only solution for you that want/need it, is to use the old 0.2 edition with nvidia framework.
29.11.2010
Currently the Toshiba edition 1.0b is having more issues than compared to 0.2a software wise. there is a freeze issues, and awake issues(solved, but fix is not released) and google paid apps cannot be downloaded.
So if you're ok without proper BT functions and usbstick unmounting, the 0.2a is probably you're best choice right now..
But if you need mouse/keyboard, usbstick proper unmount, 360rotation, the toshiba mod is the way forward.
I will try and get the freezing fixed, but more testing is needed..
28.11.2010
the Toshiba mod was created due to all the small differences in the framrwork with Bluetooth, USB functionality and sdcard card functions. Like on phones, vendors always do a little customization, which not always serves all users nicely when the image is modded based on other models. But now the stock rom is available with modded functions, so all should be happy now.
25.11.2010- on top of the above mentioned changes, here are some more regular info
- The new 0.2a still has USB stick/sdcard unmount issues, which is only part of the toshiba framework to handle for now. Im working on getting it to work on stock android.
- Increased the desktop sizing to 7 vert/horz , so more space for widgets and placement.
- media player extract image information.
- Wpa supplicant will not show signal strength for now, but im sure the better functionality might compesate for this.
(this has been tested with my Galaxy S running tetherAP function, and i could go online using my mobile connection)
Tested(v0.2a),
-Gapps,Angrybirds,Movieplayback(Yxplayer)+WMV/WMA, HDMI out, usb mass storage to pc, sdcard, usbstick, websurf+flash
- rotation , Market download, Power off,ad-hoc connectivity,.

its very slow, because there is like 20 of us who are downloading the file at the same time.
well the one who gets it up an running first, please post a step by step for the noobs ( like me) and give some impressions how the device works with this first better rom!
Anyone is welcome to post mirrors, i dont needs credits for those.
Btw, im also uploading a stock mod for this folio..not sure it takes bandwidth, maybe too many mods on my hosting solution, as its probably busy somehow..
and we all know Folio100 is not THAT popular yet! so many is so much said

No problems with the Download here.
I installed everything through the System Update, but nothing changed at all. Do I have to perform a factory reset before applying the folio mod? (My folio is rooted, I tried to install some google apps and so on...)
The first line when applying the mod says "E: can't mount DEFAULT_PATH" - how about the others?
Anyway: thanks a lot for your work!
At some point you have to select "apply sdcard:update.zip" or something like that with vol - and (i think) power
For me it did a factory reset but nothing else, tried angry birds to see if anything had changed but nope.

i have uploaded to that site like 100 times, never had problems...
but yes, today the speed seems very slow even when im uploading, maybe its simply timeouts on your download so the zip gets corrupt.
filesize should be 164.256.143

also for me nothing changed. Download and update work fine. After update I try to install Angry Birds but when I
run it I can hear the sound of the game, but I don't see nothing.
Is possibile with this mod install the Android Market?

are people using the "update.zip" inside the zip i released? or simply putting this one on the sdcard?
when installing it shows text, when HOME button is pressed this is clearly one way to confirm something.. just rebooting does not say much here..
here is another way:
- Reboot into "Firmware Update" menu.. (Press MENU to show actual recovery menu screen when booted into recovery kernel, after the "recovery logo" shows)
- Insert sdcard into slot, and move to "update firmware" second line.. and press power button to execute.
below you should see the information on steps taken..

well, it looks correct, so next question is; can you use adb? and login with shell and maybe extract the /tmp/recovery.log file?
if you got no root, just enter "rootme" and you should be disconnected from adb.
kill adb with "adb kill-server" and relogin with adb.
and you got root.
Is this correct?

[DATA2whatever] Flashable All-in-one-data2sd-Solution v0.2e + v0.4 test (dec 27th)

data2whatever v0.2
UPDATE: For the new test version of v0.3 and v0.4 look at the end of the post.
Features:
- Supports: Ext2, Ext3, Ext4 (and if kernel supports it: ) btrfs, ReiserFS
- Supports loop device as optional addon (as siberes data2sd)
- Flashable zip for many app2sd ROMs (no long setup required)
- It does a e2fsck (disk check) on every boot and creates a logfile on the sdcard (/sdcard/e2fscklog.txt)
- looks nice if you do a logcat on boot
- no "settings lost on reboot" bug like in my old or siberes script
- changes the scheduler for the sd-card and internal to noop for better performance on sd.
- Nandroid Backup of EXT2/3/4 external with AmonRa 2.0.0.1 or any clockwork recovery.
- Removes the common app2sd scripts on its own
Requirements
- A second partition (same as app2sd - Min 512 mb - 1024mb is highly recommended - max 2048 MB or there will be issues with market) in any format (as long as the kernel supports - ext2/3/4 support is default in most kernels - Ext4 or ReiserFS is recommended).
- An app2sd or non app2sd ROM (data2sd versions wont work) (this SHOULD work with most or at least many ROMs . Roms that are confirmed to work can be found in the post below. Please report to me it it works or not so i can update this thread. If it doesn't work i try to make it compatible asap. )
Installation
1.) Full wipe (at least needed on first installation)
2.) Flash the app2sd Version of the ROM of your choice
3.) DONT REBOOT
4.) If you rebooted then start over at 1.)
5.) flash the attached "data2whatever.zip"
6.) now reboot
ADDITIONAL INFO: Even without "life on the edge" you should watch the first 4 "don't"s of "life on the edge". The normal script use the same disk safety methods as NTFS on Windows or EXT4 on linux. But as you know you shouldnt just switch off the computer because there can still be issues in very rare cases. Reboots with tools like "snqs power menu" is the same as a batterypull (or pulling the ac plug on PC) and this isn't good in general (and this also applies for using it with app2sd). If you want to go to recovery just make a normal shutdown and switch the phone on with "volume down" button pressed.
Optional life-on-the-edge add on
EDIT: Life on the edge causes reboots. Don't use it for now.
This patch has the same effect as sibere's and ownhere's script (loop device - the way ownhere does in v4 doesnt work though). Other than those scripts it this addon doesnt need any repartitioning or other setup (like FAT or a third partition) and can simply be installed or removed with a flashable zip. All you need for this is a normal ext 2/3/4 partition (as above ^^). Ext4 is recommended for this (as above) since it is the fastest of those 3. This patch is more risky than normal ext3/4 considering the possibility of data loss. If you want to use this add-on you should watch the following (this also applys to ownheres and sibere script and is NOT more risky than their scripts):
- DON'T use the reboot of snq's powermenu (or any other reboot app)
- DON'T use anything in the "ROM Manager" that makes it reboot.
- DON'T do adb reboot / abd reboot recovery / adb reboot bootloader
- DON'T pull the battery while the phone is on (this should be obvious)
- DON'T remove the "sync" mount options for the Quadrant "boost" (this is a fake boost anyway)
All of this is like a powerloss for the sd-card and has a high change of data corruption.
From my test with this i give you an estimate what can happen if a powerloss occurs or any of the 5 points above happen:
- 50% general chance of corruption that will be autofixed on boot (not a problem)
- 10% chance of forcecloses after reboot of some apps (this can be fixed by deleting the app data or restoring it with titanium (or other) backup)
- REALLY tiny chance (didnt happen for me in over 40 "simulated" powerlosses) that partition gets corrupted (needs complete repartitioning of the microSD so all data on it will be gone then)
As long as you watch the 5 points above and as long as you don't drop the phone and the battery jumps out this will be safe.
Installation of the addon:
- Flash the "life-on-the-edge.zip" any time after you installed "data2whatever".
Installation of the addon:
- Flash the "life-on-the-edge-UNPATCH.zip" any time after you installed "data2whatever" and the addon. (this will revert back to the normal script)
Personal remark: While this is a improvement over normal ext4 it is not the "holy-grale" of a data2sd lag fix. I'm not using this myself and use a ReiserFS as second partition instead which is more safe and completly feels the same as a "loop" device considering performance.
Further Plans
- Changes for the mount options of the internal YAFFS2 Partition to optimize the speed of the "dalvik-cache" (have to look into YAFFS2 what can be done)
- Make Roms that doesn't work yet compatible to this
Thanks:
- cyanogen who made app2sd+ in the first place.
- sibere and ownhere who started all the data2sd.
- supercurio and Unhelpful of SGS' Voodoolagfix (#Project-Voodoo on freenode) for their helpfull script tipps.
- Coutts99 and Neophyte for their Kernels.
- woti23 for all those test's in this thread.
- All devs of XDA in generall for all this nice stuff that is done here
UPDATE: Test version of v0.3 and v0.4:
BOTH NEED A FULL WIPE BEFORE INSTALLED FOR THE FIRST TIME.
Please make a logcat of the first boot. This can help me to find possible issues.
This version now checks if your second partition is aligned and if not it will ERASE it and recreate it aligned. You will find more info about alignment later here (in the meantime you can google "ssd alignment" to get some info).
WARNING: THIS WILL ERASE THE SD-EXT PARTITION IF IT IS NOT ALIGNED. On top of that there is a little risk that it messes up the partition table. Although i made a lot of test with this and added busybox to assure compatibility there could still issues with it. If something should go wrong in recreating the partition you may have to REPARTITION the COMPLETE Sd-card. So make a BACKUP OF ALL YOUR DATA ON THE SD before you test this .
Additional info: Don't let yourself get confused by the many deleting messages on install. The update script tries to erase:
- busybox (newest version gets installed afterwards)
- 4 different versions of app2sd scripts
- dalvikcache2cache script
- the 3 binaries included (e2fsck, tune2fs, mkfs.ext4)
- 3 possible symlinks for the binaries
- mtab file
Everything that is erased gets either installed afterwards (busybox, etc ...) or isn't needed (app2sd scripts).
Please post the alignment log if you testet this. This log can be found on the sdcard ( /sdcard/sd-ext-alignment-log.txt).
==================================================================================
changelog
0.4d test release
- If the partitions gets aligned it will be formated with ext3 now instead of ext4 so it works with ROMs without ext4 kernel support.
0.4c test release
-fixed a rare issue that could happen on alignment if a partition has set the bootflag.
v0.4b test release
- fixed and Oxygen 2.0 RC4 related issue:
- renamed the "99complete" to "991complete" to prevent similiar issues on other AOSP ROMs that use individual properties.
v0.4 test release
- dalvik cache is now left internal. This should spread i/o and thus speed things up a bit.
- change scheduler to "deadline" if the kernel supports it
- changed logging: One file (data2whateverlog.txt on sdcard) for alignement and fsck with more info (thx moebius83)
- In case there is a swap partition (mmcblck0p3) this will also get aligned.
v0.3 test release
- this version will now recreate your sd-ext partition if it is not aligned (format: ext4)
- fixed the mtab error that could cause issues in some cases
- added busybox v1.17.2 to assure compatibility.
- added support for swap partition (if kernel supports it and partition 3 exists)
- removing more stuff on install (to make sure there are no old symlinks)
0.2e
-fixed an issue caused by the s-off fix.
0.2d
-fixed the cm6 fix
v0.2c
-fixed a bug that made this only work with S-OFF. (i totally forgot that system can't be mounted rw as default )
v0.2b
- fixed a typo of the last fix . This could have caused issues on leedroid. (thanks woti)
- added the patch for CM6 (thanks iinga)
v0.2
- fixed a syntax error making the script not working at all
- fixed a bug that would have occured on leedroid if it would have worked ^^
------------------------------------------
data2whatever v0.1 (dec 23.)
-completly rewrote of the data2ext script
Confirmed to work with:
- LeeDroid 2.3b A2SD (life-on-the-edge may not work)
- MIUI 0.12.18 R3
- Gingerbread Oxygen RC2
- Ginger Villain ROM
- CM6
- MidianUI r2e
- Desire stock (with init.d support enabled through ramdisk - more info)
Don't work yet:
(about HD roms in general. They will be the ones with most issues because they use external space for system stuff because of the size of the HD Rom - ill still try to make my script work with them)
- robocik's Z v06
- ReflexTSenseHD 1.5

@melethron great work man, but I will remain to my opinion that data2sd(ext) is bad for so many reasons. But it is good to have choices.
But nevertheless your work is apreciated
Hi, having small issue here, trying to install this on the baadnwz rc2 hd rom, following all the steps, when i finally restart and everything boots up as it should, it freezes on the white htc screen before it asks you to select your network provider and force closes.
Anyone have a solution?

[How to]choose a system to boot:
In bootmenu, open boot, then you will see 2nd-init and 2nd-boot and etc. 2nd-init is GB 2.3.4. 2nd-boot is MIUI 1.8.12. Or, use MoKeeSystemSwitcher.apk to switch quickly.
[How to wipe]:
To perform a wipe correctly (without loosing one of the system), follow the instructions:

I just found this problem too. I try to replace some files, but still not work. you can try LGcamera.
Very nice! I was trying to dualboot CM7/MIUI but the space in /preinstall is too short (158MB) to fit system from any of these 2. Also mmcblk1p21 have space enough to hold just one of these ROMs. I don't like the idea of storing the system into /data as we can't wipe without damaging one of the systems. Perhaps we could partition /data and dynamically change mappings in /dev to prevent system wiping but that would also require changes in CWM Recovery (wipe 1st data, wipe 2nd data, etc). For now I'm sticking with just 1 system.

Repartitioning the Flash on Maemo 5
We can try it with some modifications on a Maemo 5 (or Debian/Ubuntu) Chroot Environment on the /sd-ext partition while on recovery ADB and mounting / to /sd-ext/rootfs.
BUT I think it would mess with the cdt.bin, or KILL your phone. Maybe only people with dev phones should try this aprouch, with a backup.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Editting /etc/vold.fstab, fstab and recovery.fstab could help(?)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just thought another thing (I'm too lazy to put the right commands):
(for 2nd rom)
unmount /system
mount /data/system2 as /system
mount /dev/block/userdata as /data2
mount /data2/data_in_use as /data
change wipe data to delete recursive /data:
mount -o remount,rw -t rootfs /; rm -rf /data; mkdir /data
Well, what do you think?

Yeps, with some adjustments and testing it should boot. BTW it's the same approach I used to boot CM7 from /preinstall. Using 2nd-init you can force init.rc to umount /system and remount it from /dev/block/preinstall. The only problem with preinstall is it's total size (only 158MB). To make it boot I had to remove a lot of apps to fit it on /preinstall. Also, you can only do that for systems using the same kernel.
To have separated /data you will have to make a lot of changes into CWM Recovery, but even with CWMR fixed stock recovery have potential to break your 2nd system (or both, depending on how you set up).
I don't think dual boot is really usable at the moment. I'm going to stay single-system.
will there come an update?

More will coming soon...triple system and quadruple system for CM7+MIUI+Stock GB+ mfunz ROM...
Be attention:
1.Due to the special files structure, use CWM to wipe data will break MIUI (GB is OK). It need DEV to edit the wipe data function to let it works correctly.
2.DO NOT try to install any bootmenu or recovery after you flash any custom ROM.
3.The kernel I use to boot this dual system is CH 2.2.2 (2.10.0) and actually all CH serial kernels are supported.
To wipe 2nd OS, just delete /data/2nd-data with RootExplorer or "adb shell rm -r /data/2nd-data" in the CMD/Terminal window without quote. -- While booted into th 1st OS of course
To perform a full wipe, backup the 2nd OS, just copy /data/system.img to the root of your SDCARD (/sdcard/system.img), the wip as you normally do. It will be copied back if you choose 2nd-boot again.
To wipe the 1st OS: boot into 2nd OS, delete everything in /data2 except "/data2/2nd-data" folder and "/data2/system.img"
[How to]install:
1. download nandroid backup and fixed-sbf

Wait for it to finish installation.

*With bluetooth problems
Since this rom uses cyanoboot, you can use the menu to choose boot option (currently available options are SD normal and SD recovery)
Source Downloads: cyanoboot & kernel
See video here: CM10 in Nook HD
Notes/Issues:
If your HD boot directly to B&N rom upon turning it on (cold boot), do not press the shutdown button. Use adb and issue "adb reboot" or install app to reboot the stock. It should now boot from SD (warm boot).
For Windows users attempting to copy image file for an initial install or subsequent updates:
Under cwm, partition 5 (second vfat) will/can not be mounted by the OS when SD is inserted to your computer so either dual boot Linux or run in a VM (see post #45 of this thread by anthony062991) or use adb to transfer file.
When CM10 is already installed and running, enable MTP under USB storage setting. CM10SDCARD will be automatically mounted as media device where you can copy the zip file.
For working/non-working CM10 SD cards see this post.
For rooting the device see these threads by leapinlar: using adb and cwm recovery.
Thanks to verygreen, fattire, leapinlar and sgt7 team for their works.
mount error
I burned the image to a Sandisk sd card. The Nook cold booted into Cyanoboot and CWM. However, when I try mount /sdcard, I get an error. Has anyone encountered that?

You need to format that partition as fat32 in win or Linux.

Do you mean the entire SD card before I burn the CWM image, or the unused partition after I burn it? Thanks!

After you cannot mount /sdcard within CWM, pop the card out of your nook, and plug it to your computer, identify the partition (usually the largest one not formatted), format it to fat32

I used EASEUS and formatted that partition. Now I have CM10! Thanks! It will be fun to play around with it and see how it does.

Since this is based from verygreen CM10 source, anything not working in its big brother will also not work in our HD.
From verygreen thread it is stated:
Things that I know are not working:
- volume buttons don't produce any sound until some app does sound output first, even though volume is adjusted.
- there is no "Extended Desktop" possibility in Power Menu (this allows to hide taskbar)

Volume control is fixed in the latest by verygreen

I tried YouTube and a couple of games. Volume control seems fine. I'm impressed with the overall improvement in responsiveness over stock. After losing root thanks to the dreaded 2.0.5, this is a well-timed Christmas gift! Haven't found any bugs yet.

note my source lib only knows about ovation (Nook HD+) ATM, as I only have that.
I need tinymix output from Nook HD to add support (on the rom that runs stock audio lib).
The tinymix output should be collected in these situations:
- right after boot
- with headphones plugged
- while doing a recording in voice recorder
Hey, this worked great! Took a little while to get the card partitioned right, thanks to human error, but once I got that down, works like a charm!
Any way to enable tablet UI for Nook HD?

I'm merging your recent commits to my local tree. Will be checking tinymix and apply appropriate changes if needed.
Will consult with you regarding this matter if you wont mind.

Attached are the results from tinymix
I tried to mount /sdcard
"Go to "mounts and storage", choose "mount /sdcard"."
It says:
Error mounting /sdcard!
My sdcard is formatted as fat32 also with SDFormatter?
sdcard is 16GB class 10 if that matters?

If you follow verygreen instruction, your sd card will have five partition, the 5th partition formatted as fat32.
You should be able to use adb while in recovery and check with fdisk. You should see something like this
Code:
/dev/block/mmcblk1p1 * 1 15 120456 c Win95 FAT32 (LBA)
/dev/block/mmcblk1p2 16 113 787185 83 Linux
/dev/block/mmcblk1p3 114 363 2008125 83 Linux
/dev/block/mmcblk1p4 364 3822 27784417+ 5 Extended
/dev/block/mmcblk1p5 364 3822 27784386 c Win95 FAT32 (LBA)

I am following his instruction step by step?
I can boot into CWM without any problems. I just can't mount sdcard or flash any zips?
As far as ADB it's not working in CWM at all? My device is not even listed?
EDIT:
How do you check with fdisk?
