P990 aka o2x got pretty functional ics leak - T-Mobile LG G2x

Plus they got a few devs working to make it better
Hoping someone can port it over to p999 soon once they stabilize their build. Maybe our wait is almost over.

I don't think it is going to be much help to the P999 until source code is released.

+1 on this. ICS doesn't even bother me anymore. CM7 is working fine for me.

Reports from the p660 and p990 forums are that the ics leaks are performing quite well, possibly better than gb. Great battery life and responsiveness.
Oops meant to hit reply but gave you thumb up. Enjoy

Couldn't agree more. The awesome work devs did in tweaking CM7 has made this device very bearable until an upgrade at the end of the year.

i agree too, CM7 is just awesome for me. i actually went back to the new baseband and put the stock 2.3.4 back on mine and the battery life dropped, getting ready to downgrade once again and go back to the CM7 nightlies (i need bluetooth in my car)

I find that bluetooth (media) works better on CM7 than it does on stock... It stutters a lot on stock and takes forever to connect.

it really doesnt matter at this point, nothing beats project butter, NOTHING!!!!!
If i have to sacrifice the smoothness from hacked JB to have a fully functional ICS, then so be it.....it is more important to have that eye candy than functions that i dont even use lol.

what?.....
to be honest, the glitches presented in current JB builds arent that bad, battery drain, no camera, no chrome (ok this is bad), the only one i even care about is chrome, which is quite important to me actually.
But other than chrome, everything else is pretty much functional to me, sure they arent perfect but it sure is better than ics!

Smoothest basic ROM?

My dad just bought the wind mobile version of this phone. What is a smooth basic ROM you guys would recommend for him? he doesn't need anything fancy

I like weapon but you could always start with the basic rooted stock rom and go from there.
I suggest eaglebloods latest rom, which can be found in the development section of the g2x. It is extremely smooth and stable. I would also use faux123 4.6 kernel with that rom.

I use Weapon 3 which is based on stock Android 2.3.3 with Faux123-0.1.3 recompiled kernel. It has very good battery life, is fast, and very stable.
Galnet MIUI, it really is impressive
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
After trying both Tsugi and Weapon, I personally prefer Tsugi. It seems to work slightly better for me, and I overall seem to have fewer issues. The LG Camera also seems to work slightly better on it although I can't point to any definitive area, other than the fact it has a panorama mode (which only sort of works).
Weapon is great if you want to run Touchwiz, which I find makes more sense to people who don't know what they're doing. Another big deal is that Tsugi doesn't have the shutdown issue where when the phone runs out of battery instead of turning off the screen just goes black and drains the battery more. This may or may not cause damage to the battery, but it's not worth the risk.
Just my two cents
i would say eagle
Jboxer's 2.3.4 LG Colorized is what I settled on after trying pretty much every current ROM.
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk
I would say leave it alone. usually the one originally on there is the safest and most stable. I have installed the latest nightly build 201 from cm. Its for me and I know what to do if something is wrong.
My wife's android phones I always kept at stock for her so whenever there is an issue its easier to fix.
Just stay stock bud and your dad should be fine ok?
Miui.us is Da best so far with trinity kernel, axura, then tsugi? There's a mess of them? Lol

I would stick with what you have for a short while longer.
UCLA 2.3.6 update just hit, so lots of ROM's will go through wipe-only updates and new ROM's will be released.
SkyICS is the flashiest, coolest ROM IMO that still manages to be stable and quick.
RedSonja is a bit more blah (aside from cartoons) with the theme and tricks/gimmicks/addons, but looks like it was just rebuilt for UCLA 2.3.6 update. So if you have to flash something, that is the one I'd try right now.
I'm digging NexusM0D 3.0 after trying a couple of different ICS-Themed ROM's.

2 much to Choose
I like the stability of SkyIce 7.4 Lots of eye candy. Right now using StokMod-2-UCLA3, hoping that ICS will be released soon. I Wipe about once a week just for the variety. Only Bricked the SkyRocket i727 once before the 30 days was up.
Wish I would have waited for the note.
Personally I prefer the Tmob roms. The ones here feel pretty much all the same to me too imo. There are some pretty interesting ones over there like Tuesday, Juggs and ParadoxII. Really nice themes and features too. You just need to flash our kernel or else your rotation is all outta wack. I find there is more action over there. Although the roms we do have might be less original they are pretty rock solid.(props to our devs) The only downside to the Tmob is you lose the LTE icon (still getting the speeds just no icon changing) which I couldnt care less

To be perfectly honest, I haven't tried Codename-- yet-- because I'm already happy with the Nexus Beam ROM.
It has decent WiFi strength & solid battery performance.
I might give the other a try-- if I get bored with Nexus-- but I certainly don't feel like I NEED to do it any time soon.
Codename is prettier than Nexus Beam and also SEEMS faster and smoother, but both are slower than GB. I think whoever programmed ICS put kludge routines in the kernel to induce people to buy faster phones. NOT OUR DEVS! some technicians at Google, I suppose. Hint though -- kernel needs overclocking added.
Notes about 'awake' time between these 2 roms:
Codename build-1 kept 'awake' all the time, Beam pre-final is better, but still on and off for 'awake', longer for 'on' than 'off'. Codename build-2&3 got into deep sleep with no 'awake'. So, in terms of battery performance, recommend to go with Codename build-3, also better than other ics roms.
PS phone condition for the comparison: during the night time, wifi off, data off, airplane mode off.
Trying out code name to see how it runs

No - it's apparently so secret that you don't know about it.
I was kidding about running that ROM at the moment, but it was the Froyo ROM I used the most until we finally got the KJ6 drop and the custom roms that came with it. It was so smooth and looked so good, I couldn't get enough of it.
Just wanted to keep this thread alive by saying that after trying out both recent builds of both roms , nexus beam seems to be better with on screen time but tuks rom was better with off screen time. I need someone else to confirm this

Gingebread ics or jellybean

I really hate how I flash a new from every day. I though jb was good at first but not like everyone else I have my doubts. A little to "heavy" doesn't feel right on my phone. I used to run CM7 and CM9 on my i9023 nexus s.. and I found CM7 to be really unstable. I switched to a CM9 nightly and it was a godsend.. smoother, more attractive and 10x more stable! but I found it sort of "slowed down" after about 3 months.. just a circumstantial observation though, didn't do any tests.
I'm hooking up my friends with a couple of Nexus S's shortly because they need phones. I'm thinking of giving them CM9, rather than 10, for better battery life. But I'm guessing CM9 is susceptible to the SMS remote wipe hack? haven't tested it.
Personally I never liked cyanogenmod up until 9.0 , I'm on cm9 right now but it random reboot & hangs :/ cm10 seems pointless to me.

i try most roms out thier , the best are slim cm9, remics 1.1 both ics
Whatif the phone's rom memory gets a few bad blocks due to repetitive flashing?

true dat. I remember when AOKP came out with their first JB rom, it was so unstable; rebooted my phone every 10 mins and I flashed cm10 and was happy for a while but it then started to do the same thing. Then i went to paranoid and it was even worse; so i went back to cm10. and then AOKP JB build came out and i was skeptical about getting it because of my first experience with them but I gave it a try and I have been flashing AOKP all the way up to build 4 and let me tell you; BEST ****ING ROM ON JB right now. My phone never crashes; never lags, and is super crazy smooth/fast!

Thing is, every rom is fast and smooth right after you flash it. In order to talk so good about one, I'd say you need to keep it for, at least, 3 months. If it's still stable and fast, with no wipes needed, no daily reboots, I'd believe you.

Thing is, every rom is fast and smooth right after you flash it. In order to talk so good about one, I'd say you need to keep it for, at least, 3 months. If it's still stable and fast, with no wipes needed, no daily reboots, I'd believe you.

AOKP JB is very stable now. I haven't wiped since the nightlies, up to build 4 currently. I flash new build/nightly as soon as it's available. 3 months? Don't think I can hold for even a few days after new build is released.
