Help with screen please? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I just got my new gs3 in and ran a screen test to check for dead pixels. On the black screen test I noticed a line about an inch long in the middle of the screen and it was really black. It stood out on the black screen. You can't notice anything other than when it's a black background. Is this normal for these phones or should I get another one. I just got it yesterday. Thanks for the help. I just don't want my screen to be going out already.

These are manufacturing issues present on almost all gs3s. It is normal. Forget what they are called but they seem really black compared to the screen. Honestly not a big deal in day to day use but very noticeable in the dark.

Yeah that's what I mean, I honestly can't even see it unless the background on the screen is black then ill have a little line that Is alot darker.

It's a nature of the OLED screen tech. Very common on phones with this screen tech. Google black spots Oled if you want more information.

Thanks for all your help. I was pissed off when I first saw it. I got my phone though amazon wireless so that would have sucked having to return it

I wonder exactly how many S3 owners have this issue compared to those that don't as I have 3 dark spots as well. I wonder if Verizon will exchange my S3 for another one because of this.

Screen burn?

Has anyone else been noticing a screen burn like on a plasma tv? It's all over my notification bar. Do you think VZW will send me a new phone?

That is obviously not a plain gray background. I believe it is meant to have some sort of texture. I do agree that those discolorations look odd. Take it in and get it replaced!
Mine has a small spot too. I noticed it when. Opening the XDA app on the brown screen

Unlucky dead pixel, well they will not replace that unless you have 5 up, so I suggest you make them 9 just to make sure jk

Lines all over screen is that normal?

You have defective screen penal!
Rocketing on Sky Ics¡
Oh **** so then I'm gonna take it back
Sent from my SGH-I727R using xda premium
Seems some phones are that way. I assure you they are not all that way, I've had mine since release day and have no lines. I do see the 'spotty' patches that can be recreated if you stand on one foot and hold your mouth just right...
Actually i have read that the splotchy screen at lowest screen power is a super amoled + issue and not a skyrocket issue.

I just exchanged one tonight because of the lines just to get another one with the same problem

Turn up the brightness. If its to bad take it back. If you can't see it anymore above 30%-40% keep it.

Meh im keeping the phone. Ça dérange pas. It doesn't bug me.

I frickin LOVE the one x

I've had the one x for 3 months... And I haven't even rooted or anything ( unfortunately I'm on 2.20 ow and can't) but even so... I love this phone so much. I've been a diehard Android fan since the beginning (nexus one) and have always been in love... I have had the top of line phones since then, and until now, there's always been something missing.
Now, it performs exactly how I want to. Super fast, snappy, and never a hiccup. Not to mention I ALWAYS get through the day with charge and some left to spare. It phenomenal and the screen is gorgeous! I honestly can't think of a device that is more perfect! (Except maybe if I had jelly bean)
I don't even know the purpose of this thread I've created! Other than I want to rant about how awesome this phone is. Period. I'm done

Except..... The screen. The build quality... I could've had the s3 but it feels horrible in the hand and once you have a proper screen pentile looks like crap

Well... Coming from a pentile display yourself I wouldn't imagine you would care.. but once you've tasted of pure RGB... pentile looks awful. Sorry.

Go away, your in a forum of one x owners and your pissing on our device. We don't care that you don't like our phone. And if you can't have a constructive debate on why you don't like it instead using childish remarks like "this phone isn't that great" and "whatever" then you need to just gtfo

Your opinion based on "your friend's" experience...? At least the op expressed his feelings based on his own, so don't be so surprised when people call you troll on it.

All trolls..
My coworker and I switched phones for two days. He got my one xl and I got his s3. After using the s3 I didn't see anything that blew my mind. The screen was really disappointing after using the one x and it didn't seem any faster. Battery life was ok with the stock battery but didn't seem any better than the one x. Maybe it was just bad observation, but I think the one x actually got better battery life, at least using it for what I was. More of a portable computer than a phone. I text more than I call.
The one thing that drove me crazy was that physical home button. I don't know why they did that. Soft keys or even onscreen keys work such better in my opinion.
Funny thing was that after we switched phones back, he turned his screen on and said, "I am going to miss that screen. It's amazing."
All I all they are pretty close to each other, but if you spend a lot of time staring at the screen of your phone like I do then the one x is the better phone for you.

I'm working in a Tele2 shop in my home town (mobile provider) and I've tested both phones. Both are high end phons an both have pros and cons. It's just a mater of opinion, and personal taste. I have the one and I'm really into it,feels better in my hand, better screen in my opinion and does not give the feel of plastic in my hand. So every one should buy what is good for them regardles of what other peopla say.

Can i do a board swap across carriers?

I currently have a white Verizon Galaxy S3 and I like the look of the AT&T Red one better. I'd rather not switch carriers over a color choice of a cell phone. Is it possible to do a board swap and would the Verizon board work perfectly in the new AT&T phone exterior?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
If your referring to the m/o board that would be pretty hard. You could just swap the glass panel. It'll fit either way
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Normally swapping the motherboard is fairly easy. I havent taken apart a Galaxy S3 yet. Is it easy just to swap the glass panel part and is it much simpler to just do that?

Lol no. That involves breaking the glass if memory serves me right. Replacing the mother board should be much easier. I do not see why it wouldn't work. Try and find out.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
First I'll have to acquire some broken test devices but people think they're holding gold when they have a destroyed device. It's troublesome
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
What? Why would you have to break the panel? Your memory must be wrong sorry
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
I'm just wondering if the board swap would be possible.. I do have a use for the AT&T phone afterward. So the board swap would be optimal if possible.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
99% chance it'll work,
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Thanks. If I ever try it and get successful results I'll make sure to update this thread. The only hard part is finding a cheap red phone to test.

Have you considered one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Mercury-Scree...81&sr=8-5&keywords=gs3+screen+protector+color
Not the same, but perhaps an option.

Those look tacky to me. Thanks though. This seems like a fun project to me. I just need to find a reasonable costing phone lol
Sent from my SCH-I535
The s3 is easy to take apart. I think this is a pop and swap device. Would be cost and time effective to get a red screen and a back cover and swap your internals into it.

Those little screws are a mother****er. Be aware of the screws that blend in too.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
Oh.. I've got one of those. I work at a Verizon store. Haha, I've learned that this is a three part screen. Is it challenging to separate the digitizer from the glass? If so I'll just get a combo.
Sent from my SCH-I535
I didn't think it was but after seeing this, I don't think I'd want to do it. I'd do it if I had to but not for a color swap I don't think...

Could buy the screen the color you want then sell your old one. Hell, I might be interested.
