In the ear headphones will sound better. Completely better. Better sound will come out of the in the ear and if I'm not mistaken they are cheaper then headphones.

What can you say about Koss The Plug?

I'm sure you will like them. Reports are that they sound good and won't fall out easy. Good sound. There is not a carrying case included. Also they are said to be uncomfortable sometimes...my guess is after wearing them for a long while.
- hit my thanks button if i helped you -

Between those two the in ears are probably going to give you better sound than that particular pair or over ears. Keeping them in for extended periods will be kinda annoying though. If you want really good sound in over ears you will have to spend a little more. Probably closer to 50-60. The Samson SR850 are a great pair of lower end phones if you have a slightly higher budget.

Anyone tried beats by dr dre tour with control talk? Is it working?

Beats are overpriced for the sound quality it puts out

Beats Audio is the only important part. Beats headphones aren't worth it. And thier in-the-ear earphones are over priced.

I know that thing but i need to know that someone ever made control talk fully work with DHD.

If I had beats I would help you.

I have a pair of monoprices, and I can attest to their quality. They easily kick the bajeebus out of any of your normal crap, including skullcandies, and factoring in price, easily beats (if I worked at a percentage, for 5% of the price I get 70-90% the quality), and anything within 2-40 dollars of that.
I can also attest to J3's, which have great bass and extremely clear mid and high ranges (you might need an equalizer to bring out the mid and high ranges though, the lower ranges tend to get amplified).
Also try burning in your buds. At worse nothing happens, at best you get way better sound.

It also depends how much volume level you like when listening music, and what kind of music you like.Inear have lower impedance thus they sound louder, and you have almost complete isolation from enverionment. But I think headphones sounds more natural, but not as loud as inear.I use inear when traveling, running, etc, and headphones at home.

I have beats tour (in ear) and solo hds (over ear) and I must say I prefer the compact in ear with noise cancellation. The sound quality seems better to me, but that's just me.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda app-developers app

In ear headphones are less healthy for your ears and you will notice it when you stop hearing properly. Yes they are cheaper, but I recommend you buying some over head phones. And about the plugs, I always end breaking the overhead cable that goes to the speaker, so I ended up buying the ones that has minijack plug in the speaker as well as in the cable.

I think the sound of headphone(fullsize type) is better than ear phone. Because sound space is larger(eardrum area+the outside). But It's not portable or bulky. If you often play sport or move, earphone is better. So, It depend on you.
I think Koss Porta Pro, senheiser hd201,hd202, soundmagic pl11 are good choices.
I'm using soundmagic pl11:good:

Do they make Bluetooth headphones that work with the Epic? I mean Stereo headphones for both ears. I don't want the headphones that go inside of your ear either. I like the earmuff style. Anyone?

the sony did not have noise cancelling but they were a better fit & feel than the AL/plantronics
the audio quality was about the same between them...even in calls...
i paid like $30 for the altecs on ebay...and the sony's were over $60
i would probably do the sony's again if given the choice...even with the price difference
if you really want to step up though....go all out and buy the nokia active noise cancelling bh-905
they have redunkulous uptime and features
also saw a reasonably priced set of stereo bluetooth from car&driver with really high uptime
they were more of the 'earmuff' style but i'd like to try them

Whats everyone using with their Charge?? I'm looking for in the ear headphones with a mic. The plantronics ones I have now don't work well with the phone, mic does not work

+1. I love these head phones. For ones with a little less bulk, I use these.

I have the ones w/o the mic and just use a bluetooth headset. But these have the best sound quality I've ever heard from in ear headphones. You can find them cheaper elsewhere though, for under $100.
I use Shure SE530 earphones, if you're going to have a phone with a killer Wolfson DAC like the Charge then you should definitely be using something that's at least pretty decent.
Google Music's quality seems a bit suspect to me, though. Aside from general glitchiness and the skips/pops that seem to occur, I'm finding that the same songs sound cleaner when played through PowerAmp. Not sure what's going on here but if they're really streaming 320kbps MP3 then it leaves a lot to be desired.
I've got my Radius Atomic Bass headphones and their petty awesome sounding.

You can get Etymotic HF-3s from Amazon for $100. They work great with my Charge, but the button doesn't always work the first try when I use it to pause/resume/reverse/forward my podcasts. The sound is great, people tell me they can hear my clearly, and they are Etys! Enjoy the isolation and ability to get by on lower volume while hearing clear details through them.

I use a pair of Beats on ears. Hate away, audiophiles but they're the most comfy headphones I've ever had on my awkward head. And with a treble boost from an eq, they're not muddy or overpowered with bass. Plus the mic and music control works.

One X a little quiet?

I praise the audio amplifier in the one x. It's accurate, and pushes out some serious acoustic detail.
However, it's a bit on the quiet side. Music is just not loud enough through the headphone jack.
My transformer with voodoo sound is loud, accurate, and downright amazing. I hate to see the great amp in this phone being limited to what it is.
Does anyone else think so?
Does anyone have details on what kind of amplifier the phone uses? If it's a wolfson by any chance, we may have a shot at voodoo once we're rooted and unlocked.
This thing needs to be louder!

Sound is okay for me through the headphones, but really the speakerphone is not loud enough. For a high end device I kind of expected it to at least be loud, my cousin's Incredible is EXTREMELY loud
Yeah I am somewhat disappointed with the speaker. I don't hear notifications unless the phone is on a hard surface, and speakerphone sounds pretty ****ty.

The signal level.
Your post was in reference to your opinion on volume levels. I'm referring to the actual signal that the phone puts out is seemingly weak.

I've noticed the same thing. The speaker isn't as loud as my Epic was... and that was almost a 2 year old phone. What gives?

My testing:
Beats Studio (Sure, not the best, but I love listening to these, so much fun)
Klipsch S4
V-Moda Vibe
Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 5EB
Cassette adapter for the car (Acura TL, ELS system)
Klipsch ProMedia 2.1
Klipsch Quintet III w/ Sub-12 subwoofer and a Yamaha 5.1 channel amp
Results:
Beats: Nice, detailed sound. I had to change the EQ settings, the headset type set to "other" did not seem to suit these as well as the solo/urbeats(?) settings. Max volume wasn't enough.
S4's: At the gym. Decent isolation as usual, a bit of a hissing sound, max volume was sufficient, but I could have raised it a little more. (Dubstep time)
Vibe: Same as the S4's essentially, a bit muddier on the lower end and a somewhat flat middle, but that's expected from this headset.
Super.fi 5EB: Great bass, crisp highs, mellow mids, just seriously not loud enough.
Cassette adapter: Probably the best test here. Usually with another source, I'd have to halve the output volume to avoid hissing and distortion. I was able to MAX the volume on the one-x and still maintain crisp, accurate sound. Even putting the system at 30/40 wasn't enough, you can almost hear the "missing potential" after having listened to the system for years.
ProMedia 2.1: Computer speakers, ran through line-in with a Creative XMod. Good sound, very accurate, Similar to the cassette adapter, I had to up the output volume to match my settings to produce that "kick".
Quintets + Sub-12: Awesome, sounds amazing. But then again, this system is pumping out much more power than the others, and amplifying the input signal wasn't a problem. No issues here.
I'm using the AT&T version by the way, not the international.
It just isn't pushing out what it should. Every phone or mp3 player I've had was louder than this when it came to audio output. If we're rooted, perhaps Volume+ will do the trick.
Does anyone know what kind of DAC this phone has?
Side note: The speaker is fine in my opinion. It's nowhere near as loud as my Atrix, but it's adequate. I'll hear everything it pumps out.
In addition to the question about what DAC the phone has, does anyone happen to know the impedance it's designed for?

It could be the amplifier in general which is not outputting very high volumes to both
Most phones while plugged into my cars aux jack sound loud at 10 or so on the cars dial. My HTC has to be near 20 for the same volume. It seems ok with wireless Bluetooth headphones though.

I have a set of Sony MDR-EX51LP (in-ear) and the volume is comparable with that of my iPhone 4.
I did notice the headphones that came with my iPhone are very loud compared to the Sony ones above. I get the same results with my iPhone, the apple ones are just so much louder. Once my One X charges back up again, I'll run some tests to compare it to my iPhone but I don't think I've noticed much of a difference so far.

if you like plugs then you cant really beat the price of the skull candy inkd and if you want to spend a little more the klipsch buds are nice. i use Shure SE115M only when there is no chance of breaking them. the skull candy are about $15 w/o mic and $20 w/ mic and if you happen to snag them you wont be too pissed if they break.
V-Modas give a good thorough bass, but the sound, depending on genre, production, mp3 quality (I use FLAC), etc. For some better defined bass, not so loud as VModa, still loud though, but definitely better in terms of aural quality you could give the AKG in ear series (330, 540, perhaps 370) a shot.
Look at sennhiser - I had a pair of cx 300 ii which were unreliable and broke (got it swapped - same issue of one cutting out) but for the price were good sounding. A friend has had the same earphones for a while and I don't think his have gone wrong

I 2nd the Skullcandy Ink'd suggestion.
The bass is very good for a $15 pair of headphones.
JVC on ear, over ear,in ear. Cheap and amazing sound quality. Very deep bass and very clear highs. I have over ear for 3 months and I'm enjoin everyday my music. Professional DJ recommended them to me.

Since I thought I lost my cheap JVC Marshmallows over the weekend, I picked up a pair of Skullcandy Ink'd based on the opinions in this thread. I don't know what true audiophile earphones sound like, but I have to say I really like the Ink'd buds a lot. They have solid bass and good sound clarity all around. Thanks to everyone who recommended them.
I did find my JVCs yesterday though. Turns out they went through the washing machine in my pocket and still work great. I think they sound pretty good too, if you're looking for another inexpensive alternative.
I'm surprised that some people actually suggest skullcandy. They suck massive ****. They are incredibly overpriced for what they really are. They are simple 2 dollar production cost generic headphones with the skullcandy logo slapped on. They sound horrible and the value is even worse. If you're going to get skullcandy's you might as well buy generic headphones from a site like dealextreme.com.
If you're willing to go past generic take a look at some sennheiser cx300.
I'm going to link you a site that actually tests the headphones, not just on the reviewers personal ears, but with graphs of the actual frequency response and such! The site has helped me so much in determining what is good and what isn't with precision.
http://www.headphone.com/headphones/in-ear.php
They mostly list more expensive headphones though you can always get them cheaper than at that store. The reason they usually review the more expensive headphones is because the graphs are aimed at audiophiles.
I had a set of Klipsch Image S4. Pretty good monitors, heavy on bass. I'd recommend the S4s since you're looking for lots of base.
Personally, I rock Etymotic now.

I have heard control talk doesn't work. But if you can test it in a store and download Jays Headset app from the market. The app will map the center/answer/call button to control volume if pressed x number of times and can be customized.
But test out the headphones in the store and call someone using the headphones to see if the mic works for the phone. I have heard conflicting things.

Just use the Jays headset app to map the button presses to control volume. The volume buttons on the S4 do not work from what I know. Only the center, answer end button and mic of course. Introduce the jays headset app and that should solve your probs. I mean you can get the S4a - made for Android, but not really needed.
As for hip hop/R&B it should work great. I have the mid range Shure SE215 and they are pretty good on the bass. The key to better bass in IEH is to get a good seal on the earbuds.

completely agree with the s4/se215, i can also recomend the mdr-ex310lp which have a pretty good bass response with the large driver they have helps alot,
i also have the se215 (i actually found the s4 to have too much sillabance though which is why i prefer the 310lp ) which are great but from looking at your budget they are a bit too much...
I finally have beats tour high-res working thanks to Jays. Only the middle button is operative though, volume controls don't work but they do on my friend's iPhone.
Bass quality is marvelous, only issue is it is a bit overpriced for a pair of earbud.

[Q] Earphones

What earphones/headphones do you guys use with your oneplus one!?
I'm using the JayBird Bluebirds X bluetooth wireless headphones. They're awesome. For sure a little pricey, but the sound quality and fit is the best of any in-ear headphone I've tried. Plus I work out a lot, and 6 months on, they're holding up brilliantly.

Oh and paired with the Viper4Android app, they sound even better. Was a little disappointed with the stock EQ app on the OPO, but then again, it's probably sufficient for most people.
Heir Audio 8.A and sometimes the UE6000.
I have my old "beats" earphones that came with my old HTC phone. How do I make these work with other handsets? How can they lock these to certain types of phones?
Also using the Jaybird Bluebird X bluetooth in-ear headphones when working out, doing yard work or anything else that I might sweat with. Usually use my prior iPhone 5S headphones when I'm just lounging (they're actually pretty good), and if I need concentration or am traveling I use my Bose QC15. I haven't found the audio FX app to be a benefit to the sound of my music, so I keep it disabled.
