Hey ya guys!
I'm facing a weird problem lately with my Sensation.
If i want to record a video with the camcorder (no matter the resolution) the camera seems to zoom in a notch and then the recording starts. When i'm switching back to camera (photo) it zooms that notch out again.
I've tried various ROMs (AOSP, CM9, CM10, Sense 3.6, 4, 4.1 etc) but it doesn't seem to be ROM related...
Now to rule out that im not totally being mental, i grabed the HTC One V of my girlfriend and tested it - all went fine, video recording without zooming in first...
Has anybody encountered the same problem? Is there something i can do to fix it?

Have you tried disabling the 'auto focus' (untick it) in the camera setting??

This is normal and has to do with the electronic image stabilization which needs to reserve some out-of-screen pixels to work.

I've just understood what you're trying to say, and in my opinion that is not a problem, just like what @patspdaphone said.
I'm having that "problem" too in my sensation.

I have this installed and its working great for what it is. As of right now I have a few bugs.
1) SD card & phone storage -> selecting this Force closes on me (not a clue why)
2 ) Home screen also FCs

why the negative feedback as the first poster. just be glad we have devs working to get us a selection of roms for our cdma desire.

Great job!! Its amazing! Only thing i have encountered was the camera was "Not installed" along with the calender... but i rarely use either of them Amazing ROM
EDIT: After uninstalling them... they both showed up as working.... Haha, strange. But, disregard my errors

Exact same thing happened to me. It was like the icon was hiding under the other one.
Just found out and about 2 other people have this issue, the notifications light (led) sometimes stays on. I did a reboot and it went away. And yes it wasn't plugged in at the time and I had no notifications.

Ya, my LED stays on constantly now after charging. Just did a reboot. Im going to power it off and try again. Ill post whatever i get.
One more bug that I have found, and is a known issue on other Miui roms I believe.
Setting your Video Camera to 720p will force close, and your unable to use it again until you clear the data/cahce. I believe the guys over at the DInc have fixed this..

this rom is really really sweet. i like it a lot. it runs smooth. some bugs (you already know about them) but i have to say, i got rid of my iphone a few years ago, and havent gone back for a reason. as much as i like this rom, im not down with the UI. that said, here are the things i DID like
dedicated dock at bottom of screen was nice to have again. Home screen editing was really nice actually. I really enjoyed the way that worked. the speed was incredible. spot on with cyanogen. good job so far on this rom dphase. im impressed.
No joke this is the best one all others crash a lot. Keep it up your on the right track.
I like the MIUI roms... they are INSANELY fast to use and goodlooking too... I really like what they did to the lockscreen for one.
But i need my firepower... i got a sense Desire HD rom with quadrant score up to 1800!!!
how insane is that?!
Lets get more people using this ROM, we need to work out the bugs to get this working perfect
I'm liking this except for the lack of screen rotation. Has anyone else had an issue with the camera where it won't let you do anything after taking a picture until you take another picture?

desire hd for cdma?? where do i find that? I was under the impression those were for gsm.
I am really getting annoyed by shaky videos made by our Sensation ...
Is there any way to enable AntiShake or video stabilization...?
I personally think it's software capability not related to hardware...
Xperia Arc has great stabilization... someone port its camera or enable Anti-Shake thing for videos on Sensation ...
yeah, agreed. In my videos, sometimes they're great.. but sometimes you can see how much it shakes. It's awful
video quality is great but this shaky video spoils the whole fun ..
even incredible S has Anti shake, so why not Sensation?...
Anyone using HTC Amaze Camera can tell if this feature is there or not...?
I believe this feature is coming with ICS. Don't quote me on it though.

Anti-shake was working in one of the Roms I've used - Just can't remember which :-(
not in sensation roms .... must have seen it in some other devices ...
all we need is video stabilization...
LGcamera app has an anti-shake option.
Just, last time I used this app, despite it has lots of options and can record 1080p HD into mp4, I found the videos not as good as with the stock app
But the app was updated several times since, maybe it's better now, I'll have to try it again

sadly this option even lacks in GS2... the only set I know with awesome video stabilization is Xperia Arc..
Have you tried the Amaze camera? Not sure if it has it, but it might be worth a shot.
I've been running CM7, MIUI and Weapon for a while, but i've noticed that the front camera gets REALLY dark, but only if i'am in a dark place, I know that sounds stupid, but when I flashed 2.2.2 or 2.3.4 the pictures with FFC becames MUCH more clear and with more light in the same place!!
One more thing, did anybody notice that the led flash in 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 do like 3 flashes and takes more time to shoot??
Is there a way to fix any of this bugs? I prefer the MIUI camera over the 2.3.4 camera but it's MUCH more darker when I don't have much light in the ambient.

I haven't seen any one with this issue, I don't use the front facing camera myself. My only guess would be to try the Bravia mod, maybe it can take care of the issue.

I now this could seem stupid, but is the glass over the camera clean? That can effect light exposure. Also if you are using the MIUI Camera is the brightness setting at low?
The back camera it's very good actually, the only problem is the front, I usually use to chat with my girl while i'am in the computer (as I don't have a webcam I use the g2x), the ambient where i'am is little dark, just have the light of computer, but when I use the 2.3.4 version the video chat gets REALLY clear and good, but with MIUI and CM7 the video chat becomes very dark (camera too).. :/ thats sucks because I like MIUI over all roms but the front camera gets reeeeeally dark in some places....
Please guys help me, I use front camera all the time :// really that no one is having the problems I'am having?

I think that is because 2.2 is using the LG Cam interface which is a lot better than the 2.3.3 stock software. There is not fix at this time.

Thanks for the tips, guys, but the problem still here... I really don't know what the causes, and it's not the lg cam, because when I use 2.3.4 I have really good light in front camera even with the aosp camera, I'm gonna keep using miui and just deal with the problem, cause miui > all (for me)

Again it is built into the software of the Gingerbread 2.3.3 version only. It can not be fixed, it has been tried but will not work. Froyo 2.2 and Gingerbread 2.3.4 use different cam software even though they are stock aosp on 2.3.4.

I am writting this on the Gen Forum since I am a new user.
I am having issues with the 4.4.2 ROM. I love how light weight and non-sense it is but the camera is broken in the 12-25-2013 build. Even though the title of the rom thread says it does work, it doesnt. I am using JB cam from Market but would love to have the default KK app work.
I am also having issue with battery. I did a full charge with the phone off and it was down 20-25% after just a few hours of use. I didnt know if reseting the batt stats would help or is that just BS?
I DO LOVE the fact that MAP (Message Access Protocol) for Bluetooth is working in the ROM! Finally, my car (2013 Nissan Altima) can send text messages for me! This was supported by Android after 4.4 according to Wikipedia. Now I don't have to buy a new phone!
MODS: IF you need to move this, please do. Just know that I am a new user so I have not gotten my 10 posts...

With 29.12. build camera is working again
There isnt any completly 'stable' KitKat stock camera ported yet... but we are getting there! The meaning of 'camera is working' is that previously camera didnt work at all with the first kitkat ports! It took some weeks to finally port a 'working' solution that alloves to use the camera!

primary this stock camera is working! Few glitches here and there but at least you can take pics or record video and you dont need to install 3rd party apps!

Thats what it looks like... its really odd... I have tried the stock camera after I just flashed the ROM (12/30/2013) after a FULL wipe of all partitions. I even tried the nexus camera as suggested and it failed in the same way
EDIT: Played around some more and the front camera is fine. Now the back camera is taking pics where there is a green bar in the middle and some there is slight distortion at the bottom. Then the grean bar is at the bottom... I am i the only unlucky one? haha
EDIT 2: Tried flashing the google camera and same thing. Is there something wrong with my phone?

I think i got it figured out....
So it only happens with in the first couple load cycles after reboot.... then it mellows out or something....
anyway, I will keep an eye on it....

On 4.2.2 ROMS at first build of superXE ROM, it was the same thing, to solve that i remember we was able to instal FOCAL...
Maybe that's the way, try it

I am on CM11 by android1234567 with Kernel 52 and for me the camera works fine.
Ok now I am totally lost.... haha. I just downloaded Focal and the camera looks great and the pictures are showing up in preview. Here is where is gets weird:
In the gallery, when I look at the picture in tile mode they all look fine and they have no errors. However, when I select one to view, I get blue shades, grey block, distortion, etc.
I am uploading the pics with this post.
I blurred a few things out that I did not want the whole world to see. Notice the purple in the bigger pic. When I look at the same pic on the computer it has the grey box and the purple what-ever-it-is.
I hope this helps in seeing my issue. And, yes, I have formatted my SD card a few times now. It is S-ON, HBOOT 1.27.00, bootloader unlocked.

Same here, with this Rom camera works well

its working just flash the PA stock Gapps and the camera should work fine
I have moved on to Venom 5.x
The camera works in that ROM just fine. I am just not sure what is wrong with the MAP feature of the Bluetooth.
I will create a new thread for that one.
Camera never did work no matter how I flash it. frustrating really. I will track both ROMs for fixes.

Maybe I can help anyone here. Since I have my Nexus 5, I try almost every custom ROM out there is. Bin up to some lag in some even totally satisfied. Only the camera constantly causes problems for ALL ROMs. Be it the supplied or the original from the camera ROM cooking by Google. After normal use, it lubricates regularly, and can reactivate after a restart. Some ROMs jerky also huge. Mind For photo and video. Slowly I lose the desire to custom ROMs. Has not anyone have similar experiences? I am grateful for any tip!

i know english isnt your first language, but i dont understand what kind if problems that you are having with your camera. the camera lubricates regularly? huh, im afraid to ask about that. some roms jerky? no problems with the cam here.
Right. My English is bad. I've translated by Google. I've at the moment one+one port installed. The original camera app and the Google camera has the same problem. FC in foto and video after long time in use.

and you say that it happens not only on the 1+1 port, but on all roms and stock? have you tried clearing the data for the camera app? the only time ive seen force closes in the camera app, after long periods of use, was because of a storage issue. im not saying thats whats wrong, just some background.
Have you tried reflashing a stock rom?
I have now installed the latest build of m cm11 clean, and still jerky in photo and video. Only after I've gecleant the cache it goes back a while until it all begins again. Translated with Google translate
